Best Buy, you can get the phone for 250 - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3

I bought my phone on launch day at Best Buy for 350. It was a lot and I was upset that Sprint was charging more than other characters, but I figured I'd just deal with it. After that I heard a couple reports of people getting the phone price hatched for 250. So yesterday (the end of my 14 days) I went in and told them I had paid 350, but I had since heard that Best Buy was price matching the phone for 250 to Amazon. She checked it really quick looked at my order and have me 107 back from the cash register.
Furthermore if you want to save a little extra, you can complain to Sprint about the price and they'll give you a 30 dollar credit. You might be able to try and get them to waive the activation fee too, I've not tried this though.

There is already a thread for $250 at Best Buy.

[TIPS] Where are YOU going to buy your Evo 3D?

Sprint and target are offering 150 for used evo 4g, which isn't really a bad deal if you're evo is bad condition, but if yours is in good condition you can easily get 200, probably 250, and a slight chance at 300 if you post at the right time and include the right stuff.
Now there's also radioahack who is offering a whopping 100 for your evo. Like I said above if yours is in good condition go with Craig's or eBay, if not go with target or sprint. $100 ? Really radio shack?
Last of all is best buy. I'm not quite sure about there buy back program but its probably similar
Edit: wirefly is also sellin it right now for 179.99, but according to user RDCRDS, they ill jack I up to 300 if you switch the phone to another line. So for those upgrading your mom/brother/daughters lines, don't go through wirefly.
If you decide to sell your Evo through inline services, I highly recommend starting with craigslist. There are no fees or taxes, but the buyers are usually cheap compared to eBay buyers. With eBay you get a larger customer base and your item will sell for more, BUT and this a big but, sir mix-a-lots type of butt, eBay and PayPal combined, charge an arm and leg for their services. Those fees can be paid back with in 30 days so you can take them out of ur next paycheck to make your self feel better.
Heres a link to an eBay and PayPal fee calculator. If your start your item at 100 and it sells for 270 plus 10 shipping and handling, your total fees will be about 35 bucks
Once you sell, I recommend buying from sprint if the instant rebate service they're offering is still available at the time of launch. The tax charged on these phones is based on the full retail price and sprint usually has the cheapest out of all of the others.
I personally will be buying fromnbest buy because I put 50 bucks down on may 5th to pre order mine through that "secret pre order" thing they were doing.
So where are you guys going to buy from?

I think this is a pointless thread and is really irrelevant based upon the title. Ill humor you though. ATM im going with Best Buy but if sprint expands their new activation credit from another carrier thing that gives you $125 off the phone then it will be Sprint and the Sprint store I am near is not doing Pre-orders.

Much better thread then the another released date one.
So what you are saying is if Best Buy sells the phone for an extra $100 then everyone else, say $599, that is the price I will be paying tax on? Do you have to pay the tax on the full price of the device anywhere you go? If that is the case, I wish I didn't put $50 down at BB because that just seems wrong!
Can someone confirm this is how it works....

Its to what YOU pay. Lets say sprint is the only one that gave an instant rebate and all other places you have to mail it in. $200-50=150*1.07(for 7%)=$160.50 vs 200*1.07=214-50=164. OK so the difference is 164-160.5=$3.50. So it costs you
roughly a gallon of gas. Nothing to fret about. Also Best Buy has reward zone stuff and well the people that work there usually aren't as dumb as the people that work in a sprint store.
Also in reference to your $100 more that would cost you $7 in tax. Basically take the difference and multiply it by your tax. add the 1 in front of the decimal to add the tax or add a 0 to find out how much the tax is.

I understand the math but thought I would be paying the tax on $200 and not on $600 from Best Buy. So it is actually $400 more then I ws expecting to pay tax on and we are about .0875% here. If you trade in your device, do they give you the tax for it like when you trade in a car?
when I preordered mine at best buy the guy who rang me up told me that the gift card is refundable. I'm pretty sure bsed on past experience that best buy is going to charge 599 for full retal and sprint is going to charge 499. So pretty much you're looking at a 10 dollar dfference if the tax rate in your area is 10%! 50-60 dollars.
Wow that's pretty much the 50 down payment

i'm gonna order from my sprint premiere account on the 21st (gonna check @ midnight, i know, terrible)
and i should get no later then the 23rd.
im gona get mine at best buy because in oregon i can get a real deal. probobly around 250 with my 2 year upgrade in september
I already purchased two from wirefly. 179.99 no tax, free shipping and 50 bucks off when used with my BofA add it up. I might have to wait a few extra days after launch but I am patient. So out the door 129.99. This is of course upgrade price.
I went in to Sprint to preorder mine today. This is a corporate store and I asked about the mail in rebate, he told me they are going to be using mail in rebates again with the EVO 3D. He may not have been right, but I do remember when Sprint stopped mail in rebates they said it would be temporary.

I have read elsewhere on here that Best Buy charged people tax on the total cost of the phone. I have no reason to disbelieve these people but that was not my experience. When I purchased my evo from BB last year, I was only charged tax on what I actually paid for the phone. I'm not complaining but I do wonder why this is not uniform all over.

It depends on the state. From what I've read, that's how it works in California. Stores don't get to decide how they charge sales tax on items people buy...state/local government does that for them and they just pass it along to us .

That's only if you order online I think. I recently upgraded one of my lines and had to pay the $18 'upgrade fee'. I tried a couple times to get them to credit it back since I've never had to pay an activation fee because of my work discount, but they just told me their policies changed and it was a 'valid' fee lol. They said the only time it was not charged was online orders only. I can activate/switch as many phones as I want using the online activation thing and not get charged...but having the guy at the store punch in a few numbers costs me $18.
Just Bought mine from WireFly moments ago, $179.99 Free Shipping.
Wirefly is ok but if you have a problem with the phone it is 100% harder to get it fixed replaced because they do not have local stores.
For 20$ more ill go with best buy.Plus if in 5 months if you take the phone off that line they can hit you up for 300$
I got 1 evo from them and had a lot of problems.

i've heard/read nothing but bad things about wirefly. i wouldn't know personally b/c i've never used them. is there a perk to preorder with best buy over preordering with local sprint store? seems like i will pay tax/upgrade fee in both places.
I just switched to to sprint. I had the Nexus S 4G but i had reception issues, so I went and got the EVO. I'm gonna return that when the EVO 3D comes out atBest Buy.

Is BestBuy buying EVO's?

Anyone know if BB is doing a buyback program for the original EVO? Couldn't find anything about it on their website.
I would like to know as well.
I went in there 2 days ago and they basically offered me $130 for mine. No scratches, dings or anything. And im going to guess the price will probably be lower next week.
If you got it at best buy and you are trading in at the same store then they will take it....at least that is what they said at the time I pre-ordered. Other wise I think you need to use their website to do the trade in. They have a calculator on there to tell you how much they will offer.
Link:

Of course you can go into most best buys and get 4 different stories depending on who you talk too there....so your best bet is to just call them and ask.
Quote from their site:
"Products purchased at Best Buy
Video games, iPods, Zunes, laptops, flat-panel televisions and mobile phones can be taken to any Best Buy Store where, if you don't have your receipt, we will do our best to retrieve it for you and complete the trade-in, or you can use our online program."
Hello,
Best Buy does offer a Trade In, but it is 130 Dollars Store Credit (just started about 2 Months ago) or they can send a Check that is well under 100 Dollars. Now that the Sprint Stores no longer are doing the Mail In Rebates and offering 150 Dollars Trade In, I really do not see an advantage anymore in buying from Best Buy. Especially if you are planning on Trading In an EVO 4G
Cheers,
JJ

Unless youre buying off contract.. in which case Sprint stores are useless since theyll only sell them to people with upgrades and new lines.

Does ATT match prices?

I just upgraded three lines in my 5 line family plan to SG2's (I loved it, got my parents and uncle to love it too, iPhone converts! I should get a medal or something. Hah)
Costco.com has the SG2 for 199.99 with a 30 dollar instant off, PLUS a case, screen protector, and headset with purchase. That turns out to be more than 100 dollars in instant rebates and accessories (counting all 3 new phones). I just ordered from ATT, and the phones are already shipped, so I can't cancel yet. However I can return the phones, wait till the system resets my upgrade status, and buy from Costco. I'm more interested in the instant offs, since the cases aren't good, and I already ordered cases and screen protectors from amazon.
Any way ATT can "match the price" or something?
The accessories Costco gives you is $2 eBay junk.
Sometimes they will match a price but YMMV. Depends on the manager. Better off buying from Costco anyway because you can swap your device within 90 days rather than 30.
Walmart sells it for 148.88 unless they randomly upped the price.
If the $100 was for 3 phones, then they would save you over $150.
I have had no luck getting AT&T to match prices. Upgraded 2 lines on launch day at a COR store, and have since tried twice, once against online retailers, and more recently against the 148 price at walmart. No joy, the best I got out of either the store directly or AT&T customer care was credit for upgrade and activation fees (which I have always gotten credited in the past just by asking nicely). Was thinking about returning them and re-purchasing at walmart, but COR was gonna hit me with 70 bucks of restocking fees, so the net 30 dollar gain wasn't worth the hassle.

That's where I got mine last Sunday. If you have an unlimited data plan call 611 and make sure you still have it. Mine got removed when I upgraded even though I told the guy I wanted to keep it. They don't know how to do it on their computers.
I don't upgrade through AT&T you get better deals through Walmart, Amazon and Costco.
The key at Walmart is to either call while the assoc is doing the paperwork, or, when they call to verify everything, MAKE THEM REMIND ATT ABOUT KEEPING UNLIM DATA!!! We've done it multiple times now, only reason I know.

Same here couldn't get them to price match and returning would be a lateral move with the restocking fee
Sent from AT&T Galaxy S2
My corporate store did price match the Walmart price. You just have to try for yourself to see if they will accept it.
i had to try 2 different stores the 1st one told me its impossible to match and that they are not allowed to do that but if i want i could return the phone pay the restocking fee they would reverse my upgrade and then to go buy it at walmart but i said f*** that and went to another store to try again they did it with no questions asked they just needed proof so they went to walmart website once they saw it they put the credit into my account they will not give it baCK in cash or anything like that but they did put the 51. bucks back into my account as credit so im good with my next bill lol
Best buy will match walmart price(just ask them to look it up) IF you pay tax on the full retail price. Otherwise I think amazon wireless upgrade department also has it for $140 and also saw it at Fry's electronics for $130.

Upgrade through Best Buy Instore

Long, Long time lurker. Been rooted and romed with the eris since ~6/1/10
Background: Upgrading from Eris, I have had the phone for 18 months+. I am eligible an upgrade and for the $50 loyalty discount with Verizon. I have decided to upgrade to an incredible 2.
From Verizon.com Price is $99.99+tax after $50 online discount and $50 loyalty.
From Amazon.com price is $29.99+tax when selecting upgrade to my line and going through the whole setup besides finishing the buying the phone.
EDIT: Best Buy in-store. $0.00 no additional ETF just the Verizon contract.
Is there any reason I shouldn't save $70 and buy through amazon? I don't find anything in the terms and conditions I am worried about. Looking for experience with amazon wireless.
I am still planning on going to a store tonight and see what kind of deal they will quote me.
Edit: In store price was 179.99 after $50 loyalty. I laughed at them, the stores seem to have raised prices for the holidays. They wanted $349.99 for the thunderbolt.
Side note: I hate paying for phones I got the eris towards the "End of it's SALES life" for $109.99 with $100 MIR and it has been a great phone. I am looking for a similar experience with the Inc. 2.
Thanks for the help.
As far as I could remember, pretty much everywher else had the Inc2 for free. Try wirefly, and tigerdirect.
Last week (not sure if they still have it) the Thunderbolt was free at Best Buy.
Checked Best Buy looks like they have the Inc2 for free. They don't seem to require an additional ETF like Amazon. I drive by one on my way home from work i'll report back.
Thanks
I upgrade through Best Buy last night. Phone was free and there was no additional contract to sign or any other requirement. I am not sure how the partnership works between Verizon and Best Buy with the price difference and no additional contract.
I walked out without paying a dollar. I only had to refuse the screen protectors and cases once. It was a weird feeling walking out of the store with merchandise without spending anything.

HTC EVO 4G LTE @ BestBuy

Anyway...
Seems that just in the last hour or so, BestBuy has put up this page:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/HTC+-+E...93&st=htc evo 4g lte&cp=1&lp=1&contract_desc=
Looks like I can get to bestbuy, use my bestbuy card, and pre-order after all. It was beginning to seem that Bestbuy was not doing pre-orders.
Good news good news!
----- EDIT:
See this user's post concerning best buy EVO LTE offers.

I was just about to order from best buy, but I did a web chat with CSR and asked about 50$ gift card. He said that's only in-store. That's fine with me, as I only shop brick and mortar, but thought others may wanna know.

that regular price seems a bit steep. hopefully i can get the discount
what benefits are there to pre ordering with Best Buy? based from past experience, it assures you a phone at launch, but for the same price wouldn't you just pre order with Sprint and get it a couple days earlier(potentially)? unless you have a gift card or something
I know with the OG Evo and pre ordering thru radio shack, the nice part was radio shack processed the 100$ rebate in-store. I didn't have to mail the rebate in and wait 2mo for it in the mail. But, that may not be relevant anymore, as it appears the rebate is pre-processed with online sales.
That said, waiting for rebate in mail can be good, too. With my diamond, I got a rebate for 400 something dollars. Somehow the rebate center thought it was for 4 devices. Nice surprise in the mail, that's for sure.

Hate to say it, but you got ripped off my friend. Or maybe not. For this launch, BB doesn't require the downpayment (at least they didn't for me or anyone else I talked to - might be a regional thing though). All BB preorders get a $50 gift card without the downpayment, which you'll recieve when you purchase the phone. This gift card can then be used towards the cost of the phone - bringing the cost of the phone down to $150 if preordered at BB. Having said that, hopefully you'll still revive the extra $50 gift card when you go in to buy the phone.
Keep things on topic no Flame Wars
i got back from bestbuy.
NO MONEY was given.
they asked if im upgrading, zip, email, name, and printed out a sheet of paper detailing my reserved phone. they'll email me when its there.
they also give you a printout of available accessories for the phone on release date, otter case, n some other chit.
i guess i'll pay for it when it gets there, they said the gift card is given if you trade in your EVO. i was like, nahh. i was one of 2 people @ 2pm. (edit, sounds like bestbuys arent on the same page)
i dont think many people are excited about this phone or know about it.
either way, cool with me, saves me money until it arrives.
i wanted to walk out with that asus transformer prime/or t300
theyre speculating 18th, friday release too.
Same here. Just walked out of best buy. No money exchanged hands. No gift card. Just a paper reservation. Which has the wrong name in it, I noticed halfway home. A diff line/name/number on my family plan. Need to get this sorted out. They were selling Evo 4gs for 99$. I was surprised to see that. Almost got one for my mom for mothers day. But I'm thinking galaxy nexus for her. That way if Evo never gets flash friendly, I'll just trade her phones lol

Well if that's the case, I didn't get screwed over. I just bought myself a gift card. Which I don't really see the point in but at least I didn't have to pay for the whole phone right there.
I also got the "no gift card, no money exchanged" version of the pre-order at BB.
Do I have to get insurance with BB if I want insurance, or can I still get it elsewhere? Any suggestions?

the original evo 4g release at best buy was a joke.
sprint systems were bogged making activation an hourly issue, bestbuy was allowing later numbered people skip.
i hope this time around its a little more smooth.

mine was down payment. Paid $50 for a giftcard which I could then use to pay down the phone. Wasn't until recently that I read that you also get another $50 giftcard upon activation of the phone. I don't see it as a ripoff though, $50 is pocket change to me.

That's not a very flattering statement. But regardless, I would love some of your pocket change if it is so insignificant to you. Most people would have their day made if they found $50 on the street.
Similar experience at BB. Info given at 6 pm, got my paper, no money exchanged. 2nd in line (woman next to me was 1st), Will receive e-mail when it's in. Will cost 50$ to get the phone assuming im trading in my Evo. Through Sprint it would have cost me around 130$ or more depending on how much value the Evo loses over the next few days. No brainer there.

no deposit (per the email they looked at in the system)
filled out paperwork just like i would on a normal upgrade
got confirmation (email and physical)
left my phone number and time i expected to pick it up (assuming it stays on 5/18 launch)
I didn't ask about $50 wireless freedom or $50 preorder, but that right there should drive price to $100, then add in $10 Google Wallet and possibly $50+ in trade in.
well done

How's that not flattering? Used to be a time when nice cellular phones weren't owned by everyone. I don't necessarily miss that. People have their priorities so far out of whack, it is absurd. If $50 is a lot of money to someone maybe they shouldn't be dropping $4000+ a year on cellular services and its accompanying toys.
Hell I commented on a post earlier about a guy taking no interest financing for 18 months on a sub $500 tablet. A lot of what is wrong with the current economy in the US. People living beyond their means. Feeling entitled. Always having to get the latest and greatest. Saddens me
I bought 2 for $250 shipped no tax. Considered paying for express shipping, but that would have negated my good deal by $40.

I completely agree with your comments about living our of their means. I also agree that this country is messed up that way. I am a teacher in a high school just outside of Chicago, and while 80% of my students are on free or reduced lunch, 100% of them own a cell phone (and about 80% are smartphones from my estimation). I find this to be both disturbing and indicative of our messed up system.
Anyway, I just didn't feel that flaunting the insignificance of x dollar amount was real classy. Maybe it was to make a larger point, to me it came off as very smug. I don't care how rich you are, saving $50 if the option is present should mean something to you, in my opinion.
