Backup issues on 4.3 - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

I'm running CM10.2, and ever since making the jump from 10.1 I've been having problems backing up my downloaded apps and app data. I know there were some file structure changes in 4.3 and I'm assuming it's related to that. I have tried multiple backup apps that had previously worked, but with no luck. Does anyone have a workaround for this, or am I simply out of luck?

[Q] Problems restoring data moving from 2.3 to 2.2

Been using BitTrix's CM 7 for awhile but wanted to go back and give the latest Tnt Lite and Vegan a try. Flashed the roms no problem. Ran into an issue when restoring my apps and data with titanium backup. Any app I restored data for just fc when opened. If I restored just the app, it would open fine. Tried adjusting the settings in TB but still no luck.
Repeated on both roms and had the same issue. As a last resort flashed the official CM 7 rom didn't have any problems restoring apps and data.
The only thing I could think of is whether data backed up on 2.3 is incompatible with 2.2.
Anyone else have issues like this?
Thanks.
I've had the same problem on the Droid Incredible. Haven't found anyway to move back to an older ROM and keep data yet.

[Q] Messy restore - Mybackup Root problem?

I've always used MyBackup Root to backup and restore my apps when going from ROM to ROM and never had a problem. Recently I backed up my apps (NOTE: I NEVER backup system apps, just user/third-party apps and the only system data I back up is calendar data) in a 2.2 ROM (Trigger) in order to flash a 2.2.1 one (Bi-Winning) without issues. I flashed the new ROM and proceeded to restore the apps using MyBackup, again with virtually no problems, everything went smoothly and the market apps had their links restored, etc.
However when I started using my apps, most of them had weird problems. Some were force closing, others had missing data or no data at all, and some were simply broken. I instantly lost track of what worked and what didn't. I assumed this was caused by a bad flash so I re-downloaded the ROM and flashed it again making sure I followed all the instructions to the letter. Then I restored everything again and all of my apps were behaving the same way. This isn't the case if I delete then reinstall an app using Market or another source that is not MyBackup.
After freaking out/****ting bricks/etc, I started looking for ways to deal with the problem. This is what I've done so far:
- Used a 1-week old MyBackup folder that had worked before when I went from Bionix to Trigger. (Failed: Similar, if not the same, results)
- Flashed Trigger again and both folders failed.
- Flashed a different ROM (phiremod) and tried both folders. Fail again.
I'm about to delete my folders, start from scratch with no app data, and use Titanium Backup from now on. Has anyone had similar problems?
Just thought I'd give an update since this has gotten over 90 views.
I started from scratch ever since and have been using Titanium Backup Pro. I've switched to many 2.2.1 and 2.2 ROMs so far without issues and all of the restores have been flawless.

Titanium Backup Help

Just Got my replacement Prime today. Updated it to ICS and rooted it. But now TBU is not restoring my apps. It just hangs when trying to restore apps. Can someone help me please? It's going to be very difficult to restore all my apps without TBU. I've searched around and haven't found anything that helps fix this problem. Thanks.
Same here
Exact same issue, any updates or fixes for this? Any ideas folks?
I think it might be because some developers have created entirely new versions specifically for ICS, I'm not sure if that would cause you a problem as if there is a new ICS version all you would need to do is update.
Try restoring a single app to make sure titanium backup is itself working.
If all else fails can you wipe the device and remove ICS?
Then you could restore apps first then apply the OTA update.
I don't think it's a Titanium App issue.
I have not had any issues with TBP one bit. I installed Virtuous ROM yesterday and managed to perfectly restore all my Apps, ICS and non-ICS.
It's not cause I installed Virtuous ROM either, as I have done the exact same thing on .14 as well with no problems.
Are you sure you have enabled USB Debugging under Developer Settings? I know I had this problem previously if this is not enabled.
As a matter of interest, does Titanium pick up your Backup folder and recognize all your backed up apps?

[Q] Titanium Backup can't restore in 4.2.1

Phone: Galaxy Nexus
Application: Titanium Backup
Android: 4.1 -> 4.2.1
ROM: AOKP
Has anyone seen a TiBu issue similar to the one in attached screenshot? Notice the ? as name of application in the 3 backups.
The backup files are fine, and work on the ROM they were created on AOKP 4.1, but they don't work on AOKP 4.2.1. Once I wipe the phone clean and load the new ROM (I've tried several versions of 4.2.1 with the same issue), the backups just don't restore. It says that 'Restore successful for ?' but the application's data becomes corrupted and it fails to update even from the app itself. Most apps FC after such a restore.
I don't know if this has any effect, but the TiBu backups are encrypted, but it is supposed to ask for a password while restoring the data - which it doesn't on the upgrade.
I tried contacting TiBu support but its been more than a week with no response (I'm a TiBu Pro paid user)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Restore backups from Titanium Backup with SafeStrap/Hyperdrive

There is an issue on the S4 with restoring backed-up apps with Titanium Backup (TB).
This occurs when using SafeStrap (SS) and/or HyperDrive ROM (I'm not sure which is the actual source of the problem).
When an app is restored from backup, it force closes as soon as it is launched. I even tried to install the App directly from Google Play and then restore ONLY Data using TB. The force close still occurred.
There have been reports that this only occurs when restoring backups into a SS slot, and not when restoring to the main system (i.e. not to a slot).
I've tried to use the "TB Restore Fixer" app after restoring, and this did not fix the problem.
Has anyone found a solution or work-around for this issue?
Is there another way to backup Apps or at least Data and restore them in a batch process (e.g. after flashing a new or upgraded ROM)?
Thank you so much to anyone who can help!!
My Configuration:
I currently have SS 3.70 installed. Hyperdrive RLS14 is installed in slot 1. I have of course also flashed the proper kernel module (I'm on MK2).

Well I'm not Sure this will fix what you're going through but when I was on ss and doing what you're doing I had the same problems.
I ended up clearing all caches/data on my apps before restoring from tibu and that worked for me. Just thought I'd share.

Thanks, Mistertac. I tried to clear cache & data before restoring from TB, and I still get the force close. Do you remember what build you had (e.g. MDK, etc) and what versions if SS and HD you were using?
Thanks

I was on MJ7 with SafeStrap 3.7 I believe. I know somewhere on here someone will be able to help you. There have been a few known issues with tibu I just can't remember right now what the fixes were. Wish I could help more

Before running "TB Restore Fixer" did you download a copy of restorecon and copy that into your /system/bin directory?
I was having the FC with hyperdrive when restoring app+data or just data from TB, and this fixed worked for me.

Thanks for the tip!!! I hadn't heard of restorecon before.
For anyone else with this problem, you can download restorecon from this xda post.
Make sure to copy the file to /system/bin and set permissions to 755 (rwx r-x r-x).
It's a shame that TB Restore Fixer doesn't install file this for you, and it's even worse that it doesn't complain at all if restorecon isn't even present on the system. The app says "Fix Successful" whether or not restorecon is present, which is pretty terrible considering that all the app does is run it.
In fact, you don't even need TB Restore Fixer. You can just run the following command from terminal emulator (or write a script to do it).
restorecon -R -v /data/data
That's all TB Restore Fixer does anyway.
I can confirm that this fixes the problem with restoring Data using TB.
Thanks again to 66gt350 for telling me about restorecon!!
I had the same problem and emailed Tibu support and they told me about the restorecon file missing. Don't know why it's not included but the said they had contacted SBreen about it. It is a Hyper Drive issue and not an S4 or TW issue.
