[Q] Questions about the LGOG at this point in time - AT&T LG Optimus G

Been going through a lot of smartphones in the past few weeks doing the old "craigslist shuffle" - buy one, toy around with it, realize it's not quite everything I want, list it, sell it, take the proceeds and buy another, repeat ad nauseum and now I'm at it again. Here's my situation:
I currently have a Galaxy Note (I717 AT&T model), unlocked, in use with T-Mobile on that oh-so-awesome $30/month plan, and while I like this phone quite a bit, I have an opportunity to trade it (and all the accessories I have for it: 2 batteries, 2 cases, original box/cable/charger/manuals/etc) for an LG Optimus G + cable/charger + case.
Now, I need to point out that a) I'm well versed in ROMs and flashing having been doing so for nearly a decade now, and b) I made the offer to trade (straight up mine w/accessories for the LGOG as noted) with the intent - mind you, the intent of possibly putting that LGOG -> Nexus 4 hack to work, but I just spent the better part of 2 hours reading that Nexus 4 conversion thread and was saddened to see that even in spite of the hack working if it's done right, there are aspects to doing it that I'm not willing to tend with at this point: no microSD card usefulness, the 8GB storage limitation is not good (I don't keep stuff "in the cloud" unless I have no other alternatives), NFC is still useless with the conversion (and I do tend to use Google Wallet actually, and other reasons I find NFC useful), and potentially other things that, again, I need to have working.
So, considering the LGOG is a quad "beast," even at about 1 year old the fact that it's more powerful overall than the Galaxy Note I have makes it a potential device even in spite of not being able to do that Nexus 4 conversion I was interested in. And yes, I know I could probably find someone willing to dump their Nexus 4 for this Galaxy Note pretty fast but, the actual Nexus 4 has more limitations natively than the LGOG does, pretty obviously.
I suppose what I'm asking at this moment is if anyone else in this situation would consider the LGOG for the Galaxy Note a good trade. I use T-Mobile as noted so, I'll have to carrier unlock the LGOG if I do this, not really a big issue since I can buy an unlock code - I will attempt to get one from AT&T first (have a few friends that are AT&T customers and they can give it a shot for me) so using it with T-Mobile is a no brainer.
I know the bootloader is unlockable, that's a big plus of course, and yes there are custom ROMs applenty nowadays - I tend to prefer pure stock as much as possible with as little bloatware as can be stripped or gutted out. And of course with it being a newer device than the Galaxy Note it's considerably better in terms of battery life as well which is a big thing for me especially since the LGOG has a non-removable battery (it can be removed but it's not like the Galaxy Note of course, and I would be looking at getting a brand new battery for it since it's been in use most of this year according to the current owner).
I don't use the stylus aka S-Pen on the Galaxy Note that much; I do like that it's there as an option but the only time I take it out is usually just to show someone that it's got one and can be used for a variety of purposes.
Seems like the LGOG is better than a Nexus 4 in most respects; it's what the Nexus 4 should have been all along is what I see mentioned quite often, and aside from being able to just load pure Android factory images on it, I can't see why the Nexus 4 itself would be considered better in any respects aside from that one thing (it's a Nexus device).
So, if anyone has read this far I appreciate it, but the basic question remains: is the LGOG worthy of me trading away my Galaxy Note? Would any of you - if you had the Note and didn't make full use of everything it offers (S-Pen, etc) - go for this trade and then make the very best of what the LGOG has to offer?
Thanks for any advice, input, or opinions, they are appreciated.

Just as an update, I went ahead and took a chance on the LGOG and did the trade, got an unlock code from the freemyblackberry.com website in about 8 minutes for $4, can't beat that.
Now to get to some experimentin'...

I bought an LGOG a few months ago while I was looking for something to use on T-Mobile. Got it unlocked in a similar fashion and it works fairly well now. I love the speed thanks to the quad core and 2GB of RAM. The Micro SD slot is great as well. I think the previous owner had done the Nexus 4 conversion to the phone, but I went ahead and undid it so I could use the mSD slot. I've been using Houstonn's Rootbox rom for quite a while and it works well for the most part. My only complaints are that my Wifi MAC address randomizes on every boot (probably due to something not getting fixed properly when going back from the Nexus 4 conversion), the battery life isn't spectacular, and the phone doesn't support T-Mobile's 1700MHz 3G band or their Wifi Calling feature. But other than that, everything is great! Screen is beautiful, camera is good, everything is smooth, phone is sized well for your hand, etc.
I would recommend you give his ParanoidAndroid or Carbon ROM a try here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2228880
Paranoid seemed to work very well for me, but for some reason the mic and earpiece on my phone don't work during calls with that ROM.
Edit: The mic and earpiece work now after applying the LTEhybrid33-84.zip modem.
Good luck!

Note VS. HTC One X AT&T

I'm really leaning towards the AT&T Galaxy Note but I am somewhat swayed by the HTC One X. Leaning more towards the Note because of the development and SD card. I just love Samsung phones and have had bad experiences with HTC phones. But the one thing keeping me from the Galaxy Note is the horrible S3 processor. Its to bad we didn't get the Qualcomm S4 chip like the ONE X got.
HTC One X Pros:
-Great Design
-Awesome screen
-S4 Chip
Cons:
-Locked Bootloader (kind of a newbie at rooting but have been successful flashing roms with the i777, and skyrocket)
-16GB internal and THAT'S IT
-Horrible at multitasking (pretty much a deal breaker)
-Many report defects with the phone: screen issues, loose buttons, dust in screen
G-NOTE Pros:
Development support (Tons of ICS roms)
Very easy to root and flash rom
Love the form factor
Spacious
SD-Card
Cons:
Processor, while faster than the Exynos chip, its still out performed
Think I answered my own question, but would love to hear some thoughts on those who have been using the Note now for a couple months. I HATE LAG and read the Note suffers from this, but I plan on flashing Saurom.
Let me attempt to help you out.
I had the onx x first and exchanged it for about 5 times for defects. Good luck getting a perfect one.
screen is better quality on one x. But the note is almost as good with bigger size.
I'm done with the one x. Happy with the note since switch.

You pretty much said it yourself the not e is totally the way too go. I considered going to the X when it first came out but with all the little problems it seems to have and me loving everything about my Note i see no reason to get it.
I guess I've had two devices without lag or I just don't know what lag is. I guess that click an icon to and it takes half a second on occasion to do that action is lag but I'm just not that impatient.

If you were even considering the One X why not wait for the S3? It is very comparable in size to the X. The only real difference I see is a little bit of real estate and a pen.
I am seriously looking at the S3 as a backup phone to my Note. I can't see it replacing the Note though.
This is like comparing apples to oranges...
Unless you are buying international, the one x will not be quad. Since you mentioned att I'm assuming you want an att phone, might be wrong here.
IMO note wins, love it.

The GNote is a great phone, which has been remarkably bug free for the most part. I am also going to pick up a SGSIII after launch. I just sold my skyrocket to make room for the SGSIII. I never even considered the HOX.
I like to switch out periodically.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA
With an ICS ROM there is no lag on the Note that I can tell. You would be sorry real quick with the limited storage and locked bootloader. The Note's processor has never been an issue to me. While not as "good" as the Exynos, still a quality chip with LTE support. Note is a great phone. I've owned it since day one.
I have an upgrade available and I was thinking about getting the HOX ---
but I think Im gonna wait for the S3 or the next iPhone. The HOX and its lack of features (removeable battery, expandable storage, unlocked bootloader) makes me think its going to be another Atrix. All the balls but noone to play with it. (Although the Atrix has come a long way since it was released).
If you want, get the Note first. When the gs3 comes, get that and sell the Note. I am really spoiled by the Huge screen....I dont think I will switch anytime soon. Unless 「Note 2」
-Once you go NOTE, you'd say 4 inches a Joke
You come on a note forum as ask which one we'd get? Lol.
The One-X has to many shortcomings which far overshadow the few good things about the device. I wouldn't even consider the device.
The S3 seems not special enough. My next device will probably be a note 2

If I have to use this god forsaken iPhone another day I'm gonna EXPLODE!!!
If i were you i'd get the Htc one x, and share your experience with htc with us. I had it with htc, good design but lots of hardware issues. I had the titan, issue gallore.

I think the fact you can buy two spare batteries for the note for 15$ is a pretty good argument haha
add to the fact that you can have 48+ gb's on the note
I don't see what good a camera with zero shutter lag is if your going to fill up the 9 gb's the user has available in absolutely no time.
After upgrading to ICS, I've experienced no lags or hiccups with the S3 processor
The Note is better than the One X, but i dont think it is better the SGSIII so the SGS3 will have to give me my new phone Fix till the Note2 drops.........Cant wait on both of these devices.
I purchased the One X the day it came out, upgrading from a galaxy s2. Had to take first one back because of a broken speaker. Kept the "good" one for a week then took it back and was going to wait for the sgs3... then out of the corner of my eye I caught a glimmer of sunlight shining off the Galaxy note.
I said meh and figured I'd keep it a couple weeks and wait for the 3. Surprised to say that I cancelled my pre-order on the sgs3 yesterday (had the phone about a week now).
Love the note, the development community is great and diverse (even coming from the vastly populated sgs2 community), and the accessory / upgrade options that the note has well established.
One X multi tasking finished it off for me, sense took way too much memory, battery life hurt, screen was great but I'm spoiled by the perfect contrast of the amoled since the sgs2 (I am in darker environments most often and the inverted screens are unbeatable on amoled). Locked boot loader will eventually be cracked but I don't want to support a company (at&t or htc) doing that anyways, so it made the decision that much easier.
I'm a big benchmarker myself, so seeing some of the scores on the note felt like a punch in the gut at first. But after loading cm9 and tweaking a bit I've got mine running great with no noticeable lag at all, which is less than I can say for my sgs2 on cm9 and especially the HOX (even without sense).
Go grab the hox play with it for a bit, you get 30 days return with at&t. But know that the processor isn't something you're going to hold and look at daily (like the feel of the phone, or the bad ass screen- both of which the note wins out on IMO)

I hadn't even seen this thread until after I exchanged for an AT&T Note, but I got the AT&T HTC One X two weeks ago.
My summary of it was: ICS and the Hardware are nice, but coming from the SGS4G, I liked having an external sdcard.
Since the HOX bootloaders are locked and s-on, not really much rom development yet. I'm sure there will be awesome roms when they unlock.
So with that, I figured I'd keep my phone stock + root for a while and wait for unlocked bootloaders. But the software on the HOX is kinda flaky. I lost my job a few weeks ago and need phone calls from recruiters. The other day I got 5 emails stating that they tried calling me but no answer. That won't work for me.
So, Now I have a note
Processor isnt EVERYTHING!
-Once you go NOTE, you'd say 4 inches a Joke
I swap phones all the time. I am always curious about what is new.
That being said I am a huge fan of the note, but snagged a one x at launch.
Within the first hour, or the honeymoon phase, I was in love. The one x is well built, and is a snappy phone. However, with natural and practical use - the phone loses its luster with the multi tasking. While it may not seem like a big deal - imagine an app, or a web page re loading fresh at every view.
Also, imagine a phone with no sd slot, leaving you with no greater than 8gb storage for media once all of your apps were installed. The point of owning a smart phone is a one stop shop of a device - one that you can browse the web, listen to music, make calls, use apps etc. the point of a smartphone, for me at least is to NOT carry multiple devices for life's activies. I don't have an unlimited data plan, so te fact that I couldn't store my music on the phone was a deal breaker, since I use my phone at least 5 days a week for music.
Also, the gps performance was sub par. I can not confirm that this was or was not my particular unit- but if the phone wasn't under the window of my car it would quickly lose gps signal.
Note is one of the best phones I've used. The only downside is that it requires almost constant 2 handed use. Sure you may get away with some one handed action, but not while driving.

Don't get me wrong - rhe one x feels and looks superb. The display is, although smaller, just as beautiful as the note's. However, after the initial "wow" factor wears off, You begin to feel like the onex was kinda pushed out the gate. It's poor memory management is assumed to be directly related to allocating system resources to making sure sense runs well and good - which it does.
My final point being - of you were to try a device for 30 days, I would test a note. There are some cool things happening almost daily now to keep you interested and also improving an already awesome device. Give htc some time to figure out their situation and figure out if they want REALLY sell their flagship device or not.
When I saw the Note I just feel in love with this device from the bigging and watch story on it on youtube and web and forums about other people posted about the device.
I did look into the HTC ONE X
I was so upset it didn't support SD Card that really turn me down on this device.
don't get me wrong both are wonderful devices and it's up to you what device you would like to have and do research on it before you buy it.

DNA or Moto X - your thoughts?

Like a lot of you, I'm hanging onto unlimited data. My Galaxy Nexus' power button is losing elasticity, and its only a matter of time before the power button or the charging port die on me.
...and now is an interesting time to be on the market for a new phone.
I like the DNA over the X because of the look (I fell for the original Droid Incredible), water resistance, and antenna (it had full bars in my Verizon store when the S4, iPhone 5 and RAZRs had 2-3 bars).
I don't like the non-removable battery (I think I'll have to suck that up, really no new phones have that) or the 16GB of storage. On that note, how much of that is actually usable?
It's actually kind of a catch 22, I insist on at least 32 GB (like my Nexus), yet nothing is or has really ever been on my Nexus in terms of music or other media. I have a Mac so syncing has been.... Well not with HTC Sync if I get this phone.
I like the X in that it's always listening, that's badass, I think we can all agree on that. The downside I suppose is the locked boot loader (looking at $650 at least for the Developer Edition), and at present, no root or unlock method. You probably know how Motorola is.
I'm leaning towards the DNA (does it have 4.3 in the form of a custom ROM), partially because I want something that will get updates (officially or no) for years to come... I thought my Nexus would fit the bill there, but it just wasn't made to last, and it's lagging in 4.2.2 and 4.3... Not to mention the 5 MP shooter....
Anyway, thoughts on this, and used vs. new for the DNA (I'm thinking used since the screen apparently scratches easily and the phone in general just gets damaged easily...right?). Seems like new they're overpriced on eBay ($450+).

Not owning an X, so I'm biased, but the DNA is a fantastic phone. There are tons of custom ROMs, CM appears to have a maintainer so official status is coming.
The battery isn't that big of deal... Depending on ROM and setup, you can squeeze decent time out of it. There is 11GB usable, but I use the cloud for everything so I barely touch the limit. I pretty much keep it open for games.
Hope this helps a bit.
Some people have managed to do an upgrade to the Moto X using the Edge plan and still keep unlimited data.

If your buying cash get the DNA and try it out. They ought to be cheap on CL, I've seen them as low as $175.
I paid $325 for a NIB about three months ago.
It's still a good phone. We're about to get 4.3 officially which will be a great base for custom ROMs and when the One gets around to 4.4 that'll probably be portable as well.
I don't see there being big issues with the DNA degrading in performance since the specs are similar to the MotoX,we are pushing more pixels though.
Coming from a Galaxy Nexus, like I did, it'll be a fantastic step and you might find you like Sense5. I love it!
DO NOT GET ANYTHING ON EDGE! It is a smoking hot rip-off of biblical proportions!

Apologies for typical "should I buy" thread

Sorry I know if everyone asked these general questions about what to buy the forums would be flooded. Hopefully posting in the general section I'm not getting in the way of any important development threads or anything. I wouldn't ask if I weren't really struggling with some indecision here.
I'm a Verizon customer, still have unlimited. Using a Droid Bionic with Carbon Rom. I'm planning to buy at full retail price to leave my data plan in tact.
LG wasn't really even on my radar. HTC One was originally what caught my eye for the styling and great reviews, then the new wave of Droids came out, and now the G2. I think I'm fairly decided in terms of currently available devices and don't need help there, I would get the G2 if it came down to what's on store shelves right now. I've seen comments on the HTC One camera ranging from amazing to garbage, and not sure I would like Blinkfeed. The One speakers would be nice but can't say I really need internal audio from my phone that much. Doesn't sound like the Droid Maxx battery is really thrilling anyone, plus with upgrading at full retail price it kinda isn't all that interesting to jump from one Moto Droid to another, it'll just feel like a differently shaped Bionic. Moto X seems interesting everyone keeps saying it's the best all around form factor and the most refined that an Android device has ever felt, but I think I'm ready for a bigger screen and battery.
I'm more a bit hesitant that I'll get the G2 and then the Nexus 5 or Note 3 is going to be amazing. Although I'm well aware of the crop of Nexus 5 rumors, apparently not having Verizon's LTE band (then counteracted by a newer rumor saying there may have been an FCC filing for a separate Verizon LG device that wasn't the G2 and could be their variant of the Nexus 5). Plus a rumored smaller battery for the Nexus compared to the G2 which would lower my interest in it. Note 3... I'm not really dying to own my first Samsung but it seems it might outdo the G2 in a few ways, more Ram, SD card slot, etc. Obviously anything compared to the Bionic I have will seem nice, 32GB (or the 20-whatever that's actually available after system install) on the G2 will be plenty, I am used to working with the 16gb I have on my Bionic and am used to having to send stuff to my PC harddrive if my phone gets too full.
I've owned LG in my cell phone history, had an LG Dare and then an Ally for my first Android phone. Their hardware is alright but if I recall correctly they are pretty iffy about timely updates and then just stop supporting devices once they hit a certain age. But then Motorola pulled the same stunt during my Bionic ownership and most of you will know about how long it took Bionic to get system updates. I don't think I ever really saw myself going back to LG as I've felt the same indifference towards them as the rest of the community for a while now, although it kinda says something about them that they're still good enough to keep getting contracted for the Nexus devices. And then this G2 landed on my radar out of nowhere.
G2 camera sounds great with a few reviews sprinkled in that suddenly didn't think it was all that amazing, but I take pictures like crazy, camera is important, I think I may even sell my Sony Nex 3 full size camera as a way to help pay for a phone upgrade, the big camera just sits here and collects dust when I can have a camera in my pocket all day in a phone.
Important aspects to me, battery life (sick of charging my Bionic constantly, I think my extended battery is wearing out because I can just watch the percentage drop like a rock as I use it), quality display would be nice after settling for the Bionic with it's blah pentile screen, camera as I mentioned above, other than that I browse, text message, need Tethering, and use Pandora in my car. And I do care about developer support, I like messing with Roms, but if the factory Rom is decent once you get it set up, I can live with not having as large of a dev community as S4 might have or whatever. So yeah with that said it seems like a no brainer saying display-battery-camera, G2 sounds to be the best at all of that right now, I'm just worried about what else is coming out this holiday season. I know the Nexus announcement is rumored for next month but I just hate to wait just to find out it's not coming to Verizon or is definitely going to have some lame 2300mah battery. You know how it is when you're ready to upgrade...
-I suppose we'd all be guessing, but how good are people feeling about the G2 getting a KitKat update in a reasonable time window? This is the LG flagship so I would hope for good support, but the LG skin and addons are so overwhelming and heavily skinned devices always take longer to get their updates out. I'd be thrilled to get this phone but that would quickly turn to disappointment if we're waiting for 4.4 longer than anyone else.
-How is developer support looking? Have any big names pledged to add the G2 to their supported devices? I really like Carbon Rom on Bionic. I suppose it's a good sign that root and loki happened right away but so far Rom releases, especially for VZW, looks slow.
-Speaking of ROMs, do we have any idea if any of the stock stuff like knock-on etc will ever be able to be pulled and applied to a custom ROM, or is it pretty much a guarantee that if you switch to anything but stock you're going to be sacrificing a lot of the factory features?
-I noticed the G2 doesn't even come up on the Top Devices window at the first XDA forum portal, is that a bad sign for community interest in the device? HTC One, Note 3, etc all show up as the top devices on XDA right now. Is there a community behind this device or not really? Does everyone dig the specs but shy away from LG with their heavy skin?
-It WiFi tethering working with the current root exploit? I use my Bionic as my home internet access, on the stock ROM it seems like FoxFi will stop working after a couple of days like it's detecting that I'm tethering, on Carbon ROM I can tether for gig after gig of data and no issue.
-I've seen more than one person gripe about thermal throttling and the G2 starting to run like utter garbage in certain conditions. That would certainly suck to spend 600 on. Is this widespread?
I don't think I'd regret buying it immediately but I see the potential that only a few weeks into ownership the "oh crap why did I go with LG" feeling will start.
For the awesome specs...yes. Its a great deal for what you get. I don't know if tethering is working yet but I do know pda net works. Top be honest with my wife and I we were concerned about going share everything but I got a music unlimited service for 50 a year and downloaded everything instead of streaming. We went from using 6+ gb a month to under 2. And almost all the music is ultra high quality which works perfect with the 24 bit DAC. I stopped using Pandora because of this...I can skip all I want no commercials and choose weekday I want. I am very happy with the lg UI MINUS the giant size. So fast there had been a fantastic dev community modding the stock rom. Coming from a GNex I am ecstatic to get TWRP already. I wouldn't be too sure that anything coming out from Samsung will be crackle since the S4 is locked down now. Battery is about 9-10 hours of straight screen and 24+ with normal usage including hours on and off of heavy use. The only thing I don't like is the weak out of the box speaker but they have already modded ATT gain to make it better. The Btooth audio and head phone quality makes for this Times a million. I don't see anything else coming close unless you are Andre the Giant and like the phablet Note type. The one is bigger with a smaller washed out color LCD. The speakers rock but it's not worth the lack of general power. Grey a quick window case it's s fantastic.

Wow. There's about 5 minutes I can't get back.
Nexus5 will most likely never hit Verizon.
Big name devs? This phone is like a week old. Time will tell.
Wi-Fi tethering not currently working.
Buy it. If you don't like it inside of 14 days, return it. By that time, news of the nexus 5 should be out.
Thank you Devs. From my LG G2.
Wifi tether wasn't working on the S4 or One, I just had both phones on Sprint and T-Mobile with various roms and kernels. The only other phone I considered was the Note 3 but I can't stand the home button, would have liked the extra real estate but the G2 is still manageable for me to use one handed and a stylus would have been wasted on me.
This phone doesn't even need roms tbh.
I'd buy this phone all over again. No other phone feels like this one a atm.
LG G2
I was following every phone to come down the pipe for the last six months or more. I had an LG Nitro HD for my last phone and my first was the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. The nitro was terrible. The only time that phone ran right was on stock gingerbread. The development was fairly slow and the community small because it was att only and wasn't popular at that. I was about as put off by LG as they come.
Two days ago, I bought the G2, and I absolutely love it. The battery life really is phenomenal. I say this because it had kept up with my initial high usage love for a new phone. I plugged in last night with 34% left after having almost six hours of screen on time at 80% brightness. The note 3 might be great, but then again it might not. Only 100mah larger battery with a .5in larger screen concerns me a bit. The processor is already insane in the G2 so that will likely not make a difference for a bit. The ram shouldn't be an issue for at least an upgrade cycle at minimum.
Honestly, the biggest difference between this and the nexus is battery and screen. Nexus is 5 in and only had 2300mah so unless Kit Kat has major battery improvements that phone was no longer a option for me. The tipping point for this phone over the moto x in my case? Development and community. This phone already has a larger forum Than the moto x. That's not the only determinant but helps significantly. Go check the nitro forum, this phone is already almost as large... this phone had root on day one I think it was and boot loader bypass within a week of launch. And a Rom 2days later. It may not be as fast some devices but that is still damn fast. Will this be a great dev phone? Too early to tell but it looks promising. And with the nexus being nearly identical hardware wise, that could help too.
Hope that helps.

Best successor to the Note?

So, after screwing up the gps on my i717, I think it's finally time to lay it out to pasture.
The Note 3 seemed like an obvious choice, but it's lack of rom support makes me think otherwise. The Nexus 5 also seems like a good choice, but I don't like any choice that involves no external SD card or removable battery.
Anyone have better ideas? I'm ready to move on, but I don't see any promising candidates.
The Note II perhaps? Lots of custom ROMs for it and it also received an official 4.3 upgrade. As far as the hardware, it's still a very capable phone.
And the price is lower for the Note 2. AoSP is not possible for the Note 3 and if you continue to receive OTA updates you will [BOLD]probably[/BOLD] eventually lose the ability to root. Samdung (oops -- that was a typo but I'll keep it) is serious about plugging all the holes.

That my friend is a tough question to answer. Google doesn't want us to have an ext sd, the manufacturers insist on building their phones with an embedded battery and the service providers are locking the bootloaders like they were Fort Knox! Best bet is to go shopping and see which phones you can live with and then go to the forums and see what's going on with them. Just my opinion I know, but it's what I did. Now I have a shiny new LG G2 rooted and running kitkat laying on my desk doing nothing because I love my Note and we have super dev support! But I got the LG for a penny from Amazon over Thanksgiving so I'm not out anything and when the Note gives up the ghost I'm all set. Nice phone but my aging eyes like the Note's screen size much better. :good:
Note 3 without any hesitation . the specs are incredible and is a question of time for new roms and more devs

After using your Nexus 6P, would you still buy and recommend others to buy one?

I was wondering right now after you have used the phone for quite some time, and the novelty wore off. Would you still buy a new one and recommend others to do so?
Yes and I have gotten my friend to buy one.
Yes I would. I can honestly it's been the best phone I've owned thus far.
Love it, and I don't say that for every phone I get but this one is definitely something else. The others usually developed some sort of sluggishness after a while, or some other issue.
This one has been smooth sailing
Honestly, I would not.
Nexus 6P does have affordable price with its hardware, but it is less convenient than any other devices such as note5 or iphones. If my friend is used to handle with custom roms or rooting, 6P is the best device I can recommend
Absolutely

I was wondering right now after you have used the phone for quite some time, and the novelty wore off. Would you still buy a new one and recommend others to do so?

Yes, but only if they have large pockets.
Yes
Yes, especially if you're into XDA Development!
Yes, if you want to own your phone.
You can also buy a Moto X-Pure.
Bottom line is, if you can't unlock the bootloader and install what you like; you do not own your phone.
I have a Nexus 6P. I own my phone!
Without a doubt. Best phone I have ever owned. The development is what continues to keep me excited!

I'd recommend a million times over.
By far the best phone I've owned yet, I would highly recommend it with confidence.
It's decent for Project Fi, but I'd probably get a different phone if I switched out. With Fi, my phone bill is around $30 a month because I rarely use data without a wifi connection available. As someone who hates expensive postpaid carriers, my main criticisms are that:
1. In "real world" scenarios, it doesn't automatically connect to ANY public wifi (like starbucks, target, mcdonalds, etc) because they all require agreeing to a TOS.
2. Even if it did automatically connect to hotspots, it is a function that can be used with a Project Fi SIM card
3. It can't be used on the inexpensive Verizon MVNOs for simultaneous voice and data, unlike every other Verizon compatible phone I've had in the past.
The good parts are that the pictures are great, the phone is fast, the development is awesome, and the screen is big.
There really is no perfect phone for me though, so I'm sticking with it until Fi gives me a reason to switch
Yes it is the best android phone you can buy today, it is a good upgrade even over the nexus 6 ~ battery life is insane it's like you have an extended battery and also very fast ~ I jump back and forth between the nexus and Samsung phones and generally have the best of each line at the same time but skipped the note 5 after using my buddy's for a few days this phone is better in my opinion

Definitely a great phone for beginner or experienced Android enthusiast. But in all honesty, pure Android, at least to me isn't as important as it was before when processors were weaker and less ram was available. For instance, the Note 5 for example is just as great if not better. What I mean it's that, even with bloatware and weighted UI's that non-nexus phones have didn't bog down the phones like they did a fews years before. Phones nowadays are powerful enough to handle the extra bloat easily.... But yea, id definitely recommend the 6p, but if you need a subsidized price with contacts or need to have payment plans on a phone carried by your carrier, you really can't go wrong with any high end phone out there... But I do love my 6p
Great Android device but a few things I don't like. My phone has a yellow tint on it after I turn down brightness below some level. Second, Google hangouts or other VOIP app like viber causes echo on other party end which is just unacceptable. Third, the vibrate is so weak that I have missed so many notifications already. Nothing major, seems like minor software fixes though. But until those are fixed, I won't be recommending this device just yet.

I'm on Verizon...I have an unlimited data plan. Just being able to have a hotspot option with no questions is the "only" option I need. I've have an S5 but any device that Verizon offers beyond my rooted Samsung S5 I've found they just go out of their way to lock the hotspot, bootloader etc to make the the phones "dumb". So far I'm just in a bit of "in like/love" with my 6P. I go thru about 25gb per month. Having a hotspot for me is a must. Yep in a year there will be something that knocks my socks off, but for now it's the 6P!
Yes this is easily the best android phone I've ever owned, the best nexus bybfar (I've had them all). Over 1 month and I love it even more than ever. It's just about perfection.
Yes. It's the best Android phone I've used. Fast and smooth and with 6.0.1 I have no bugs.
I love my Nexus 6P. But no, I would not recommend it to others.
First, most of my consumer level android using friends prefer a skinned, customized UI. When showed them the pure Android UI, they balked at it. They prefer TouchWiz. Whatever floats their boat, I guess.
Second, for my tinkerer-level android using friends, they don't need any recommendation! They should be able to do their own research and decide for themselves.
