You can use the Framaroot for this. I have used it and it rooted my phone with ease. Please use the version compatible for S3 or please read thoroughly the instructions. Have a great day.

Framaroot doesn't work on 4.1.2 NA2. Any other suggestions?

With na2, i try to do this, install cwm recovery by SH, copy update-supersu 1.93.zip in extSdcard, boot in cwm recovery by power+home+vol up, install update-supersu 1.93.zip,reboot. Install busybox from google play. It worked!

Thanks. Can u provide a working link to SH recovery?

I got it
It's easy.
Go to this link fsrv1.sayanogen.com/Pop and download "GalaxyPOP_CWM_SH.tar".
Install it by ODIN and reboot in Recovery Mode. Install the supersu from the sdcard and you get it.
Special thanks to sktjdgns1189.

Thanks to your comment, I've successfully rooted my Galaxy Pop SHV-E220S. Here's the instruction for everybody else:
1. First download the CWM recovery from: http://fsrv1.sayanogen.com/Pop/GalaxyPOP_CWM_SH.tar
2. Flash the file through ODIN with default configurations; import the "GalaxyPOP_CWM_SH.tar" to "AP" section of ODIN.
3. Download flashable supersu zip file.
3. Go to recovery by holding up "Volume Up + Home + Power" buttons.
4. Install the "supersu" through "Install zip from SD Card".
5. Done. You can also install busybox from market.
I successfully rooted my ND2 firmware (latest version) using this method.

Hi
The link to the flashable file or "CF-Root" is provided in the link you mentioned! look at the "download" and then "CWM / TWRP / MobileODIN installable ZIP" section at the first post. here is the link: http://download.chainfire.eu/451/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.01.zip
For ODIN download and help, go to the following link. A full instruction is also provided there.

will try and inform, if any problem, will ask
SuperSu: there is mentioned !!! SuperSU requires a rooted device !!! what it mean? if this SuperSu required already rooted device then how this will root any non-rooted device.
one more thing, when connecting device thru cable to PC and issuing command " adb devices " it returns " list of devices attached "
is this problem due to drivers of my device? where i can find & download drivers?
regards.

any help??

Hi
Dear friend
Simply ignore the "SuperSU requires a rooted device", and you're done. I've done the same!
For Samsung mobile drivers, simply refer to the this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=961956
With these new guides in mind, stick to the instruction and BINGO! You will have a rooted device soon! Post here your success to help the others :good:.

Installed KIES from Samsung, installed Minimal ADB from xda, now adb works.
got ODIN latest version,
boot my device while pressing Home+Volume Down+Power
this shows a screen which is in Korean or Chinese
pressed Volume Up + Power
this brings device in ODIN Mode
execute ODIN, only select AP and give the file GalaxyPOP_CWM_SH.tar and press Start
it shows in small window (text box) on left side as below;

and reboot my device in normal mode.
I powered off my device and boot it in recovery by press Power Up + Home + Power
but when it comes in recovery, it is showing previous (actual installed) recovery because there is very few options in it.
i re-tried three times all steps but failed ...
what to do now? it showing " succeed 1 " but actually not.

Noted, After opening the box ,the client wanted latest whatsapp plus a new dialup pad app. After that handset hung and rebooted in samsung i9300 only.Download mode ok but same error.
I find it really helpful of you all to just yell at someone who is trying to find an answer. I have the same problem, and I am not inexperienced with flashing phones. The question still remains: Can there be something done via Odin or adb or whatever or is it a case for repair.
I would really, really appreciate to get some useful answers. I can **** myself I don't need others to do this.
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: I have found a solution thanks to a very helpful friend who found the relevant post here on xda (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27995287&postcount=16). You need to flash a 3-file stock rom via Odin v3.0.4 with mx.pit-file and repartition ticked. This worked for me and I very much hope that it also works for everyone else.
With all the pit files, i m getting there is no pit file.I m still looking for 3 files firmware.
Can someone post me a link for a 3 files pda phone and csc for S3.All the files i ve found are single file.
Thanks
The only 3 part files and pit for the Samsung range have in the past been posted on Sammobile.com .You will have to look and see if they post such for SGS3 . Never seen them on XDA and 3 part files posted on XDA have in the past been from sammobile .

Go to recovery and then mounts and storage.
Format system, data and cache. Also do a factory wipe on the first cwm page.
After that pull battery wait 5 seconds abs reinsert it.
Hold power home and vol down to go to download mode. Then press the up arrow.
Then plug it in to computer. In odin select pda csc and modem or if it's a one file firmware just select it in pda. Do not tick repart or select a pit file.
Then hit start.

OMG this actually worked...
So here is what i did...step by step...
1. Uninstalled Kies but did keep the USB drivers..
2. Made a Nandroid backup in CWM and followed Drew071's instruction and removed the ext_sd card...i actually did that before but without the pull battery step...
3. Used Odin 3.07 with only auto reboot and f. time reset ticked and loaded the stock rom that i took from sammobile in PDA...
5. Flashed as usual O_O....
I really don't know what it was but it scared the s..t out of me ^^
I'll try to root the stock FW now with the usual odin method and let you know if it works...thx all for your support
EDIT: Ok so i used CF-Auto-Root-m0-m0xx-gti9300 with Odin v3.07....all went well and i'm a happy root user again ^^

S3 root problem

I have Samsung S3 (GT-I9300)
Followed the guide in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1684535
After that when I reboot in recovery it tells me:
Custom Binary Downloads: Yes (2 counts)
Current Binary: Custom
System Status: Custom
The reason I have 2 counts is that I installed 'CF-SGS3-CWM-v5.5-v1.5.tar' with Odin3 v.1.85 and discovered after that there was a later version Odin3 v.3.04. Then I reinstalled the tar-file with the later version ... I guess no harm done. Odin installed successfully both times.
But where is SuperSU & ClockWorkMod ???
I thought the were installed with the tar-file.
When I boot in recovery there is no option 'install from zip' ... so I can't install the downloaded 'CWM-SuperSU-v0.96.zip' either.
Tried to install SuperSU from Play (both free & pro) but when clickin on SuperSu error message 'there is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it'
So where did the simple rooting go wrong ???
Appreciate help.
The device restores stock recovery on boot unless you
* rename the etc/install_recovery.sh
* or take the x-flag from it.

Had something similar some time ago, but it only sended me to stock recovery while using adb to reboot.
Download cf root from chainfire and flash it with Odin.
Afterwards install cwm touch with rommanager.
Worked for me back then.
Edit: btw, the thread you are referring to is for cwm touch only, got nothing to with root.

Don't understand howto get root privilidges ... thought flashing CF Root took care of that.

As the name tells it is cwm not root.
Go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1695238
download cf root from the third post and flash it with Odin, afterwards you have root and cwm installed. If you want cwm touch do like told before with rommanager.

Thank you nodstuff & Tectas ... now I am airborne and much wiser
Well ... it seems that I am not 100% airborne.
After I installed 'CF-Root-SGS3-v6.4.zip' with Odin I maid a backup.
Then I flashed 'RR_JB_V3.0.6_AOKP_4.1.1_I9300.zip' & configured & rebooted ---> S3 is dead after the 'Samsung S3 GT-I9300' is displayed.
Now I have to boot into recovery and restored my backup to get S3 alive again.
What is wrong with 'RR_JB_V3.0.6_AOKP_4.1.1_I9300.zip' ?
I have used RR before on my old S2 and had never experienced any problem ?
Is it a S3 issue ?

Have you follow the installation guide from RR thread (specially the wipe things...) ?
Of course I forgot ... the wipe things... thanks
Can you advise me about the modem thing ... I googled and found it has to do with the reception signal
Before I flashed I had (Samung default) basbandversion: I9300XXLH1
When configuring the kernel there were the options for modem:
DXLG2
XBLFB
XXLF3
XXLF5
Which one to choose ? I took the default one DXLG2
Is there any documentation about these guys ?

I found a easy solution for this
if you're getting the binary error
just ignore it and root again with autoroot
1.download cf auto root (just google it)
2.use odin to root
3.download super su from playstore (when you use auto root super su gets removed)
4.rooted

Had a cross between the issues here. Had flashed CF-Root through Odin and couldn't get it to boot into recovery. So flashed again with Auto-Root it opened into recovery and then still didn't appear to be rooted.
Downloaded SuperSU from the playstore and hey presto... it's working like a charm.

Recommended Steps For Flashing.
Put phone into download mode
In odin select Your valila copy of the kies update and put in PDA option box
then select the posted TWRP and put in phone.
click start to flash and watch the progress,
AS SOON AS IT finishes the flash with writing the second recovery image hold down VOL UP AND VOL DOWN for the reboot, the device is now in recovery with twrp
you can either do adb sideload (choose advansed on main menu) to apply the patch or adb push and place on the sd-card (Note in recovery the phones internal memory is /emmc and the sd-card is /sd-card , so it you dont have a sd-card inserted you must use adb push filename.zip /emmc/)
once the file is sideloaded ( or installed via twrp install menu option for adb push users)
then do a factory reset once more.
Enjoy your Cherry ROM

My Dear Friend Just Install a Recovery Like CWM OR TWRP
Your Problem Will Be Solved
[solved]How To Root Samsung Galaxy Note SHV-E160L (New Method)
Basic Requirements:
Samsung Galaxy Note (SHV-E160L)
Computer
USB data Cable
Phone Charger (You won’t expect your phone to die of the battery during rooting)
Now we move on to our step by step procedure. (Do follow each and every step and read them carefully to avoid any problem for which we will not be responsible.)
Root Samsung SHV-E160L
Procedure To Root Samsung Galaxy Note
1. First you have to download all the drivers for Samsung SH-E160L on your Computer.
2. The second and most important thing to do is, enabling USB debugging. For this, you will find Developer options in your Settings option and then Enable USB Debugging.
Developer Options
In Android 4.2.2 the Developer mode is hidden and to unhide it, go to Settings and then in about option go to System Information. Inside this, you will find Software information, and then there you will see “More” option, inside which you will get Build Number. Tap on this option for 5-8 times and then a message will appear, “You are now a Developer” which means that the developer option is now shown under your settings option that was earlier not present.
3. Now the next step is to download vRoot(search in google and download) and install it on your Computer.
4. Now open vRoot and then mount your Samsung Galaxy Note to your computer through a USB cable.
5. The vRoot will automatically search for your smartphone once its connected to your computer and it will automatically detect when your phone is attached.
6. Now, click on your phone name in vRoot and in the next window that appears, you will see a root button. Just, click on it.
7. The vRoot software will automatically start rooting the phone and will automatically install SuperSU app in it.
8. Now you have Successfully Rooted your Samsung Galaxy Note SHV-E160L. To verify that you have successfully rooted your phone, go to your menu and then search for SuperUser app. If you found that app then it means the device is successfully rooted and if not, then please repeat the process carefully.
Note: Your Manufacturer Warranty gets Void when you root your phone. It means that they will charge you for any damage that you cause to your device. So proceed after making your mind and making clear of what are you doing. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE THAT YOU CAUSE TO YOUR DEVICE DURING ROOTING.
If for any reason you want to Rollback all you have done, then go to Play Store and just Download SuperSU (ChainFire) and install it. After installation, open the app, move to Settings and then select Full Unroot. Your device will be brought back to the earlier stage.

Galaxy Ace GT-S5839i Bootloop - Help

My Mum's Ace GT-S5839i seems to be stuck in a bootloop after it froze when she was playing a game.
I've been trying to recover it using Odin, but I'm not having any luck. These are the steps I tried:
-Downloaded Odin v3.09
-Downloaded the stock firmware (from Sammobile.com)
-Opened Odin
-Put phone into Download Mode
-Connected phone
-Press AP, and selected the firmware file
-Press start
It then fails. This is the message list:

Take your battery out of
your phone, and again insert it and enter into
the download mode by pressing Volume
down + Home + Power button. If your phone
doesn't enters the download mode don't
worry. Connect your phone with PC by USB
cable and open the Odin V1.85 in your PC.
After opening the Odin, Now press V olume
Up + Volume Down + Power Button . Your
phone will now boot in recovery mode by
Odin. After entering into the download mode,
it asks to press Volume Up button, Press it.
Now you're in the download mode by Odin.
While, the Odin running in your PC must
have recognized in your PC. Now select the
Pit Option, and select the .pit file that you
have downloaded with the Odin .zip file .
Now extract the stock ROM file in your
desktop. Then open the Odin. Now you've
selected the .pit file, now leave the boot
loader blank. And select the "PDA " option
and select the file that is named similar to
PDA that you've extracted in the desktop.
And now select the "Phone" and select the
file that is named similar to "MODEM" . Now
select the CSC and select the file name
similar to "CSC" and select it.
Now the Part is over. Just click the Start
Button , and it will be flashing the Stock ROM
on your Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830i. Wait
for 5 Minutes, once it is complete. Unplug
the USB cabel, and boot your phone
normally. It'll take 5-10 Minutes for booting
because it is now booting in a new ROM.
And that's it, your phone is now back! Your
phone has got back the Stock ROM !

Thanks for the reply. I've got a couple of questions, though.
Firstly, it's a GT-S5839i, not a 5830i, so I assume I can't use the 5380i ROM in the link you posted?
Secondly, does it specifically have to be Odin V1.85? I was using the latest version (V3.09)
Thanks.

2. put the device into download mode by holding power+vol down+home and connect to computer with usb cable.
3. now run odin 3.07 and select AP and then select the twrp_2.7.1.0_SM-T230.tar.md5 file
4 .hit start in odinand as soon as odin is finished the device turns off for reboot DONT let android boot quickly press power+vol up+home to boot into twrp recovery
5. now goto advanced > adb sideload
6. now open a cmd on computer and use adb to sideload the SuperSU.zip file
eg, adb sideload location/of/zip/SuperSu.zip
7. twrp will now install supersu and binarys
8. reboot as normal to android and download rootchecker form gplay and check for root also granting root access when asked..
9. now also download busybox and install..
you now have rooted your tab 4 sm-t230
EDIT: while i am currently testing i have just found that certain system app remover apps seem to see the /system as not mounted although this app does work >> System App Remover (ROOT) -gplay
i am trying to work on fixing this with possible workarounds...

Awesome cant wait for it yeah when i flashed that i could not get keyboard working at all and Bluetooth broke.
Hey!
I am getting this tab in 3 weeks, is there any "1 click root" method like vroot? If not can someone help me what to type in CMD? (i've installed cwm recovery on other my devices and custom roms too but they were way easier to root with one click methods)
You would need to use v1.0 for now. Safariking is fixing the v1.5 to make it all correct again. Have fun in the meantime folks and a good new year!

Much Easier...
FYI, change step 5 to then reboot system from twrp and choose to root the rom when prompted.
after booting into the OS using TWRP prompts of "play" and "normal" installed binaries and rooted no problems. no sideload or adb necessary.
TWRP handled this all just fine for me.
I also had to use Odin 3.09. 3.07 failed for me 3 times in a row.
(win 8.1/sm-t230un) wifi
I followed the instructions, but after it updated the firmware (first stage), it rebooted and went straight back into the normal OS, no changes.
Now when I try to access the download mode it won't - just keeps rebooting to normal OS.
Anyone any ideas? The Log bit from Odin says the following:

it sounds like your problem lies with step 4 and 5 after the flashing in odin is complete DONT let it reboot to android... when odin finishes and the tablet turns off and back on press and hold press power+vol up+home until it reboots the first samsung logo at which point let go of the power button and continue to vol up+home until you see TWRP logo now when in twrp just select REBOOT and then SYSTEM after android boots proceed to step 6 and 7 and you should now have root..
Awesome thanks for the help!
You should give credit to the original post as it did from ShinySide. This guide has been around for quite sometime now.

Added: it's still working on the latest firmware.
Can't remember too well: I too let it reboot after odin but no problem going into TWRP (note the difference in combo buttons) and select Reboot and it will has a choice to root. No need to odin again.
Got there eventually, just need to find some decent roms for it now!!
hi, just bought this awesome tab. quick question, where can I download the driver?
