Rooting Method By @designgears & Root App @Chainfire
What is Universal Root de la Vega?
It is simply a script to create Root de la Vega for any device that has the necessary hooks. In its current state, it should be considered beta, the code is still very messy and may not work in some cases.
What devices are supported?
Just about every Samsung device with KNOX! (Excluding Exynos based devices)
Samsung has caught on and has started patching bootloaders, you can still root, but you will trip KNOX.
If you are running MJ4, MJ7, MK1, MK2 or higher you can still root, but you will trip KNOX!
How to find your AP / CSC (PDA) versions:
Dial *#1234#
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of how to use terminal and odin or heimdall (this is not a general support thread)
Odin or Heimdall
Firmware File (see next section)
Linux: p7zip
Windows: Cygwin
How to find your stock firmware:
Go to SamMobile and enter your device CSC in the in the black bar search field. (Free account required to download)
If you cannot find it there, try Google, not my inbox
After you have downloaded your firmware, make sure unzip it down to the odin tar/tar.md5/exe.
SM-N900V SM-N900A
How to use Universal Root de la Vega:
Open a terminal to the directory containing URDLV.sh (not windows command prompt)
Code:
[B]Usage:[/B] ./URDLV.sh [full|csc] [stock firmware file path]
[B]Example:[/B] ./URDLV.sh csc F:\N900PVPUBMI3_N900PSPTBMI3_SPR.tar.md5
[B]Example:[/B] ./URDLV.sh full F:\OneClick_I537UCUBMI2.exe
full = AP and CSC [I](Creates a single file with both AP and CSC, no bootloaders, modems, etc.)[/I]
csc = CSC only
[stock firmware file path] - needs to be the full file path!
Drag and drop the file into the terminal window to get the full path.
What file types does Universal Root de la Vega support?
tar, tar.md5
exe (odin oneclick, thanks to exodin)
What's with the license?
To many kangers on XDA these days... If you don't like it, you can GTFO.
Where can I download it?
By downloading Universal Root de la Vega you agree to the license above and you agree not to distribute files created with Universal Root de la Vega.

Basic Rooting Instructions
Use Universal Root de la Vega to create a custom firmware (See Post #1)
Boot into bootloader mode
Open Odin or Heimdall and plug your USB cable into your computer and phone
Use Odin or Heimdall to flash the firmware created in step #1
Let your device fully boot after flashing has completed
Copy the contents of root_de_la_vega_sdcard.7z to the root of the internal storage
Reboot (very important!)
After fully booting delete the files from the internal storage that were added previously
Reboot (extremely important!)
Question & Answer
"Root de la Vega" What kind of name is that?
It's named after Ralph de la Vega, CEO of AT&T Mobility.
Can I flash custom recovery/kernel without tripping KNOX flags?
No.
Will this set a tripped KNOX flag 0x1 back to 0x0?
No.
Will root survive a factory reset?
Yes, it does.
Do I need to fully wipe my phone when rooting?
Not always, most cases it should be fine, but sometimes you get lots of forces closes, the only way to fix it is to flash your csc and let it wipe.
Can I unroot?
Yes, use SuperSU full unroot option or flash stock.
I am getting Force Closes after flashing, how can I fix it?
Make sure you are flashing the cache(csc) and system(ap) file!

May I know will factory reset trigger Knox 0*1 after the rooting?

I'm on one as well (SSD) Win 8. Doesn't seem to complete using full command. Stays on Hex Editing Image.......
Edit I put it at root of C drive now it's working Thx buddy!

I did full and it produced a tar file and no corresponding csc file, don't I need a csc file as well?
Does the single file from the full command go in AP with csc left blank?

@designgears can I also update my 9005 with MJ3 to newer version without problem with this tool?

The AP and the CSC are all in the one file it produced. Just drop it into the AP slot.
Just curious, what was the full path of the file when it wasn't working? I am thinking special characters in the parth might mess it up.

As a RC i can't do that.
Even though it is cracked, we don't see it as "warez". Almost every device has it cracked, so noone would be able to use it if we wouldn't allow it.
I mean, we also "crack" the bootloader of devices, which would be considered as warez, too, in that case
Cheers

Me too. Ever get this figured out?
I think what this boils down to is USB debugging was disabled by the factory reset. I had reset my device to prepare to sell it. When it booted back up I got an OTA offer and, not thinking, I accepted it. However, I still had CWR and root. I think OTA'S require stock recovery to work properly. So, no USB debugging and CWR as the recovery = soft brick. And, since CWR does not have a terminal option, there's no way to enter commands. I'm thinking this is going to be a warranty claim for me.
Will it work to restore a D805?

Hi!
Thank you for this n.n
Will it work to restore a D805? If not, then I better be careful with OTAs, or I better don't use any recovery as I'm not going to
flash any custom ROM till the G2 is done with official updates (2015?).
Thanks again n.n

Weird issue
Hi All,
tried using flashtool but I get the error that I need to check my phone model or the DLL.
I bought this phone from the Philippines with model number LG D802. I had flashed other roms for this with D802.
But when I was trying a while ago since I got a bootloop issue, the phone's downlaod mode is in korean and says in the phone and flashtool that my phone is running F320K? but it's so weird since I had D802 before even in the IMEI sticker in the back and to think I installed rayglobe ROM, before having the boot loop.
Any help would be appreciated.
THanks!

[ROM][08-06-15] FOF6 Stock ROMs

Introduction
Aug 06 Update: ROM is now pre-rooted using @ShinySide's kernel.
Note: Currently, none of the ROMs in this thread are rooted. Flash SuperSU will cause boot-time force-closes that I haven't yet solved. This happens if you try to flash SuperSU 2.46 or 2.49 (BETA), on any of the ROMs in this thread, or any stock image of G900TUVU1FOF6 provided by Samsung/SamMobile.
You must upgrade your firmware to be able to use these ROMs. To do this, you can download the ODIN flashable from downloads, unzip the file, and then flash the resulting .tar.md5 in ODIN under PDA. This will update your bootloader and Modem as well. If you don't have access to windows, you can use Heimdall. To use Heimdall for Galaxy S5, download the source code of Heimdall, and apply this patch. Once you have done this, you can run heimdall found in the 'build' or 'bin' directory of the source code after compilation. After upgrading your firmware, make sure to flash a custom recovery again, which can be done by downloading the .img.tar (if you plan on using ODIN -> PDA) or the .img (if you plan on using Heimdall -> with argument --RECOVERY twrp<version>.img) from TWRP.
Versions and Descriptions
COMPLETE: The full stock ROM, includes KNOX, no SystemUI patch. It is a simple flashable which includes metadata correction.
WITHRINGTONES: A heavily debloated ROM, but includes all of the default sounds, including bootsound, notification sounds, etc.
SLIM: A heavily debloated ROM, which simply removes most of the default sounds from the previous package.
*KNOX is removed, but Settings.apk was not patched to show this change.
*Settings may crash if an unsupported operation is run on the debloated versions such as:

I'm a bit too lazy to type out all of the deleted apps.
It says the complete version systemui is not patched. What patching are you referring to?
Also, is this rom deodexed?
Thankx!
Nice job. Will you post a patched Settings.apk later to replace? Most likely i would be doing things to crash often... :silly:
So before I go and start flashing this ROM I wanna make sure I do it right.. So this is stock touchwiz running 5.1.1 ? And I see I have to update bootloader where would I find the link to that ? I'm still new to the gs5 lol.

No, it is Odexed. The SystemUI patch is for removing the quickconnect/sfinder bar.

Patching the System.apk on an Odexed ROM would prove difficult, so I'll more likely add back some of the features, since they're not technically bloat.

Check Settings>More Networks>Mobile Networks>Access Point Names. If you installed the latest bootloader and modem, you should be seeing fast.t-mobile.com added by default, and if you click the '+', you should be able to add more APNs. Please tell me if this didn't work for you. This ROM was extracted directly from the tar.md5 source, I removed no APNs or anything to do with CSC for that matter.

Disclaimer 1: Although this method does not trip the "Knox Flag" you are still taking a risk by rooting your device. We are not responsible for your blazing fast smartphone with root! Let's hope this one doesn't catch on fire!
DISCLAIMER 1.5: THIS IS NOT FOR EXYNOS OR CHINESE MODELS!
First and foremost, SHOUTOUTS!
- @partcyborg for finding the root method!
- @me2151 for testing on Note 8 and facilitating root on the Note 8!
- @elliwigy for... Shenanigans! And thread template
- @jrkruse For the deodexed system!
- @Chainfire He will be missed! (no he is not dead, just retired.)
- Samsung for the amazing phone and leaving rediculous loopholes open for us to root!
Disclaimer 2: The method to root should be pretty straight forward as the hard work has already been done for you. With that being said, you will need to know how to download files from the internet, extract a zip file and to use ODIN. That is basically it! Oh yea, BACK UP YOUR INTERNAL STORAGE AS THIS WILL ERASE IT! PLEASE BE SURE TO READ ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS THOROUGHLY BEFORE ASKING FOR HELP!
Prerequisites:
- SamFAIL Note 8 Pre-Rooted System.tar/PIT File Zip (in Post #2)
- SamFAIL Note 8 PART 2 Firmware Zip (also in Post #2)
- Comsey ODIN and Normal ODIN (Found in Post #2 Aswell)(Normal ODIN is just in case)
- Well your Note 8 of course, Need to be by a PC and ready to use Download Mode!
Part 1 Instructions:
IF YOU ARE ON U3(Rev3) bootloader you must Flash SamFAILv3_N8_FIRMWARE first THEN do part 1 THEN part 2 again. This IS a requirement. Not optional. Otherwise for U1 and U2 proceed as normal.
1) Unzip the SamFAIL Note 8 Pre-Rooted System.tar and PIT File to your PC.
2) Have Comsey ODIN up and ready. Place your Note 8 into Download Mode and Connect to PC
3) In the AP slot, select the Pre-Rooted system.tar.
4) Now go to the PIT tab(Click OK or close on the warning box) and click and navigate to the PIT file you also just downloaded and select it.

}
5) On the OPTIONS tab, you will select the following: Auto Reboot, F. Reset Time, NAND ERASE ALL, and Re-Partition.
6) Once you have everything in place and the correct options selected, press START.
7) ODIN will say FAIL at the end of the flash and the phone will have rebooted to upload mode saying "Unknow Error". Don't fret however, the system should have still been written!
8) You will have to get the phone back into Download mode( Hold Power, VOL- and bixby together and the phone will reboot to download mode and tell you its in emergency mode. THIS IS NORMAL.) and then proceed to Part 2 Instructions!
Basic ODIN flashing here guys... Not rocket science!
Part 2 Instructions:
1) Download and Extract the SamFAIL Note 8 Part 2 Firmware Zip to your PC
2) Click Reset in Comsey ODIN or close it out and re-open it so it is COMPLETELY cleared out
3) Now select the firmware. BL goes in BL, AP goes in AP, CP goes in CP, dont press start yet!
4) Now, this time we ARE NOT SELECTING A PIT FILE, We should just select Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time. DO NOT DO NAND ERASE ALL OR YOU WILL HAVE TO START OVER.
5) Once you got the partitions in place and the right options selected, Press Start!
7) Once phone boots up, Setup your device as normal and proceed to the SuperSU app. It may ask you to update the SU Binary. Select Normal method and let it do its thing. Follow its instructions then SU should say it was Successful in updating and it needs to reboot(You may have to do it multiple times. I believe its 2 or 3 times then its good) ENJOY SamFAIL ROOT!
DISCLAIMER 3:
* SamFAIL DOES NOT TRIP KNOX
* Boot.img is SECURE which means you MUST use SYSTEM ROOT. (Similar to SamPWND)
* This means that MAGISK DOES NOT WORK
* Which also means SAFETY NET FAILS. So any apps you enjoy that require passing Safety Net will most likely not work while you are rooted with SamFAIL
* Again, similar to SamPWND, this root method uses a factory binary boot.img which is necessary to boot the modified system. THIS MEANS BATTERY ONLY CHARGES TO 80% (Thanks Samsung.)
* SamFAIL DOES NOT UNLOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER AND DOES NOT SIM UNLOCK YOUR PHONE.
* This *should* in theory, work for other Snapdragon Models of the Note 8. If you have another model and are successful please post so we can add "support" for other models.
Back to Stock?
- Download the full STOCK firmware of your choice.
- Flash it in ODIN/Comsey ODIN as you would any other time!
- It will take a few reboots for the "custom" splash screen to go away.
[/CODE]
BUGS!:
- Screen sometimes will be bugged out. Fix by turning screen off and back on. Caused by Factory boot files.
- Possibility of Bixby Home crashing.
- SuperSU may ask you to update it multiple times.

The exact condition is a Race condition caused by the AOD initilizing. Basially the normal screen turns on in AOD mode. Maybe once or twice a day. It happens when you turn the screen on right before the AOD starts. Hard to get timing consistantly

Galaxy A40 [SM-A405FN] Bootlogo mod.

Hi. Got my A40 rooted and wasen't happy about the look of the boot logo & warning text, so I did some changes to it.
WARNING:
THIS WILL TRIP KNOX SO DON'T FLASH UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING.
THIS IS MEANT FOR USERS THAT UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER AND GOT KNOX WARRANTY BIT BLOWN ALREADY
UPDATE, TWRP METHOD
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now with warning (booting_warning.jpg) completly removed so that we can use full screen custom logos.
1/ Flash "View attachment A405-red_warn_remover.zip".
2/ Reboot to recovery.
3/ Flash "View attachment A405_logo_leafes.zip"

Wanna make your own logo mod?
Make sure that the images you're doing has the same characteristics as the original files.
Raplace the images in "A405_logo_leafes.zip" and rename the zip to whatever fits.
Edit the "ui_print" in the update-binary if you wish, but please keep the credit to @moluntic for this awesome script.
(Original thread):[Tutorial][Boot Logo Changer]
read the info there as you can easily brick your phone if it's done wrong.
Remember that param partition acts as an image cache for bootloader and is indeed part of the bootloader partitions.
With that said, please don't share files unless you've tested it yourself first.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OLDER METHOD:
Original ---> Changed to:
Original---> Changed to:
This blacked out so that it won't show on the black logo background.
Unzip View attachment SM-A405FN-param_mod.tar.zip and put the tar.md5 in AP slot in Odin. Connect phone in download mode and start flash.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi
To flash this do we need to reset/wipe after? I spent already too much time customizing this device, don't wanna do everything all over again
The warning that warns about booloader and asks to press power couldn't also be blackened or even replaced it with something nicer ((maybe text in black "Custom firmware initializing" ))? If I don't press power device continues boot anyway after a few seconds.
Can you give any tips, or any special care when creating/modified bootlogo? Or, if you have time to make more versions it will be appreciated
Many thanks.
Please do for TWRP
Got no feedback, so I decided to create my own bootlogo and sucessfully flashed it using Odin.
Even put the Magisk logo on it
A quick how-to using Windows:
You know the drill, if you manage to damage your device when doing this, it's your own fault!
1. Download the firmware for your device from your preferred server (samfrew updato , select region, version), alternatively jump to the end for faster approach, but you may need knowledge described in next steps anyway
2. Have installed 7zs
3. Right-click the firmware file > 7Zip ZS > Open Archive > then double-click (dc) file that starts "BL.." > again dc param.bin.lz4 > again dc param.bin > extract all files
4. Files to customize are:
booting_warning.jpg
logo.jpg
svb_orange.jpg
Use favorite image editor (Paint works!)
Make sure you keep the default resolution and do not create much bigger files than the originals, a little bit smaller or bigger it's okay, but not too much.
5. Again using 7zs create a tar archive format with the files you edited and the rest you have extracted before, name the archive param.bin (literal, NOT param.bin.tar)
(7Zip ZS > Add to Archive > Archive Format: tar > Archive (name): param.bin)
6. And then again, create another tar file with the param.bin in it (archive name may be anything)
7. Using Odin, load the tar file you created on the previous step to the AP slot, connect the phone in download mode and flash
Alternatively, to save data and time download bootlogo mod from first post, just extract files, edit and repack again using similar manner as described above
(in the end you should have a file with tar extension instead of MD5 because archive does not have MD5 checksum attached, so Odin will not check data integrity)
I tried to load file but says error binary is invalid

I've been working some more on this "project" and twrp flashable is working. I will upload tomorrow hopefully.
I managed to remove the black warning as well so that we can have full screen custom logos, like this:
There will be two zip's to flash the first time.
One with stock param, but witout the "red warning" and one zip to finally change the logo / svb_orange by unpacking param in device and replace the images inside.
This will be easier, as we from there on only have to replace two images in a zip to get new flashable logo.
Have already done

Couldn't we had 'fullscreen custom logos' before?
Why did you choose to leave the message of the "svb_orange"? We all know bootloader is unlocked, message is useless and undesirable since boot continues anyway after a few secs (no need to press power).
Anyway, that's what I've done on mine, replaced it with a nice screen, acting as second (boot)logo.

That message doesn't really bother me so I just kept it.
We could have used full screen, but it would have looked like this cause the image is still there, just blacked out.

Yes, of course, I forgot that it just gets overlayed on top of logo image, because my logo is mainly black and booting_warning is black too, it's there but invisible.

i know how to make it work with Odin but i was wondering if with the stock recovery it's possible to sign an update.zip containing this mod....

Hello. I installed this patch last july (release without leaves):
- is that version (no-leaves) still available / usable with ASJ firmware ?
- in general, how could I revert mod to the original ? Flashing full stock firmware doesn't affect bootloader area, it seems
I don't have TWRP so I'm talking about Odin releases
Thanks a lot for your work

How To Guide Guide to root Galaxy S22 Plus (B/E/N/0), unlock bootloader and flash official firmware (noob friendly)

Code:
Your warranty is now void.
If you root your device, Your KNOX status will be tripped.
You can still pass the safety net after you root if you follow the instructions.
I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards although it is not really possible
Please do some research if you have any concerns about doing this to your device
How to flash official firmware? (not the root and unlock bootloader part!)
You will need:
A Galaxy S22 Plus and common sense
Samsung Odin (the flashing tool of the official firmware)
https://dl2018.sammobile.com/Odin3-v3.14.1.zip
You need to extract the zip file and you are going to use the file Odin3_v3.14.1.exe inside the folder.
Samsung Android USB Driver for Windows

(If you want to keep your data don't flash CSC).
-Click on CSC and select CSC_OMC_xxxxxxxxxx.tar.md5
-Click on USERDATA and select HOME_CSC_OMC_xxxxxxxxxx.tar.md5
When it finishes flashing it, it will automatically reboot and you can gain root access.
Optional: If you want to have the safety net passed (most of the banking apps use it), then you need to install the zip
as a Magisk module in Magisk https://github.com/kdrag0n/safetynet-fix/releases
How? Go to Magisk → Modules → install from storage and select the zip you downloaded.

So on every update we need to do a full flash? Wow
And the userdata is keep?
Is there a way to backup all before update?
yes full flash with home csc to keep your data
if you want to backup your apps and data with root use migrate app from playstore

On the root flash there were 2 "erasing everything" screens, one after a message that something is corrupt. Will this happen again?
Can you provide a simple step by step list what to do with new updated firmware?

Magisk alpha
带遥测的第三方Magisk版本,比Canary通道更加不稳定,与上游行为有较大不同,无安全性保证,无可用性保证,无隐私协议。 问题反馈请加群发送日志文件,非alpha独有问题建议先在GitHub反馈。
