Ballistic Cases now available - Galaxy Note 3 Accessories

Ballistic sent my confirmation email today that their ballistic cases are now shipping! I went with the black and white variant of their Maxx series.

That case sucks, had it on my note 2. Over time the rubber skin stretches and fits very loose just like the otterbox defenders.
Stay away from this one.

I had the regular ballistic case as well but I sold it because I wanted a holster case. I sold it to a friend who still uses it and has no issues. I actually have two otterbox defender cases for my old note 2 and no stretching what so ever. Still a pain in the but to take on and off. This is the first maxx design to be offered, my wife has one on her S3 and if you use it with the screen protector as it's supposed to be, It will keep its shape. Sorry you had such bad luck.

nothing but a screen protector now. usually have it in a sedio active case.
Ghost Armor all around with the carbon fiber backing (they sold me on the carbon fiber) surrounded with an Otterbox Defender Series case with the screen protector taken off (because the Ghost Armor one stuck to the OtterBox one)
PS: not to step on any toes here, but i believe this belongs to the accessories section instead of theme and apps

I have the seidio extended rugged case with the extended battery and holster. I had a scare yesterday with it. I just got to work and checked in on foursquare and I guess I didn't push it far enough into the holster, I opened my truck door and down it goes. The phone bounced on the face and did a roll bounce and landed on its back. Much to my amaze, phone is perfect which it should be with this exterior. From this day on, I will only buy seidio products.

I did not remove the screen protector. Instead I removed my ZAGG IS. I like the built in one. However removing the plastic one is not hard at all. Its just glued in place.
Wasn't worried about the ease of removing so much as the feel...its kinda springy if u know what I mean ...its starting to annoy me some lol
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
I bought mine on Saturday but I am taking it back because of the built-in screen protector.
Not only does it not sit flush with the glass (which is why it's "springy") but it distorts the quality of the screen horribly.
Getting my money back and sticking with my Diztronic TPU
Wow I removed it because it was too springy and it feels way better with my ghost armor screen protector!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
I don't think Otterbox took into account the weirdly concaved screen. I agree with the feel of it, spongy. But i also don't like how the sides are squared off, as opposed to more rounded on the previous versions I've used on other devices. The accessory plugs are hard to open and close. If you take the silicon cover off, you notice there's no grab rail for the silicon in the corners. Its hard to lock into the holster. Feels unnatural when taking it out if the holster and I've used a defender for over a year previous.
I'm OK with all the feeling because I was using a commuter it seems much like the commuter to me...
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
On every device I have ever had a defender series I just cut away the plastic shield it sucks one I do that I toss on my own screen protector and enjoy!
Sent from my SGH-I747M using xda premium
I just got my defender today.I like it feels fine had the commuter before this one the commuter does feel more rigid but I like not having to worry on screen. The holster does look odd will have time to test that tomorrow
Keep in mind that there are two different varieties of the defender floating around for the s3 it seems.

I bought from AT&T but now outs returnd the screen was grainy may be that's what was meant by springy... I bought back a commuter but don't want to deal with adhesive protector yet want to have a protected screen

Seidio vs Otterbox

If you had to choose between the Otterbox defender and the seidio active, what would you choose and why? I am looking for a toughish case and it is between these two. I have experience with Otterbox on my old iPhone but have never used seidio stuff before. Have at it.

I know this thread's about two other cases, but since this recommendation was tossed into the mix I want to share that I just today gave away one of these Ballistic cases. It was "okay", but not great. I didn't like that the hard plastic surround shell didn't wrap around the top and bottom at all, so when putting the phone into (or pulling it out of) my pocket the silicone would peel back. To each their own...
Try the BodyGlove
Check the Body Glove case, it gives a nice solid feel and good grip. I really like how it makes the buttons press, very smooth and solid clicks on the power and volume buttons.

Otterbox defender review?

Anyone with the first batch of otterbox defender case for the note 3? If so care to post some pictures and a short review based on the previous design for the note 2? As well as does the screen protector that's built in better or worse than the previous design?

to answer your questions as best I can from MY EXPERIENCE.( on note 2 )
The protection factor is top notch.. however, bulk is detracting from phone styling- the volume and power buttons require much more pressure to activate them. also, the built in plastic screen shield which is built into the front outer shell, is rather ugly- floats above the phone, rainbow effects usuaally- humidity gathers below it and actual screen. and holsster is susceptible to breakage when exiting, entering your vehicle. ( happened twice to me..otterbox warranteed both times.
all outlets and ports are covered by a durable flap door, and once opened, access is easy. so my review- from 1 to 10, 10 being best is 9.. penaly for tough buttons and rather blandness/bulkiness of case size.. something like commuter might be less bulky- with less protection..thats where my curiosity of other cases comes in..( ie trident aegis, uag, seidio etc.): but- if you go with otter defender, the plastic screen can be removed ( voids warranty though) and you can use a spg type protector to avoid the ranbows, humidity buildup. I just traded up to the Note 3 myself- so decided on Trident Krakken ( returned UAG Case) Removal and install is a Major Headache.
I have the note 2 as well as the otterbox on it lol

Picked my Defender up today. Overall it looks really good. Unlike my Note 2 Defender case, the note 3 defender doesn't seem to be as bulky.
Getting the inner shell on was tight. Damn tight, but it went on.
I run defenders on all my phones. This is the best one as far as form and fashion that I've owned.
The Best Buy website showed that one of my 2 local Best Buy stores (within 1 mile from each other, but one is a Best Buy Mobile in the mall) had the Commuter in stock earlier today. I drove up there to check it out, but they didn't have any. I checked their site again while in store and it didn't show either store having it any more. I didn't plan to buy it anyway, just wanted to check it out and see how it looked and fit. Their site also showed them having the Qi compatible battery door. Even though their site DID still show it being available while I was there, they couldn't find it even though their system also showed them having 2 in stock. About an hour after getting home, and 2 hours after they had closed, an employee who I left my name & number with texted me saying that she did find the Qi battery door and was going to hold it for me!

I could not imagine it being bulkier than the Note 2 Defender. That thing's a brick!
Otterbox should come out with an Armor Series for the Note 3! If someone tries to jack you for your phone you could swing it around and clobber them in the kisser. That thing would be a weapon!
I'd buy one because it would be the equivalent of a toughbook but in a phone...
How about the commutee

Brief Otterbox Commuter review

What's up guys, some people have been asking for Otterbox reviews so I thought I'd put up a couple pictures of my Commuter I got last week. It's the best case I've had for my Note so far and with the tempered screen protector the protection can't be beat in my opinion. The S-pen cutout is great and makes for easy removal. All ports are accounted for including IR and all microphones. The fit in my opinion is great and doesn't add much bulk for the level of protection you get.
I am very happy with my purchase but if I had to list some cons, I'd say:
- weird back texture makes hand sweaty. Really weird
- not the most stylish case out there
- expensive ~44.99
Thanks for reading I look forward to your feedback and questions

Yup, I see you're using XDA Premium as well. *This is off-topic to your thread, so I'll go ahead and apologize for that before I even begin.* For some reason it only allows one pic per post....and that's WHEN it's letting you post pics at all! When trying to attach pics, I constantly get the error that I'm not logged in, or that I don't have permission. It's VERY frustrating! Both XDA Premium, and XDA Premium HD have been doing this for at least 3-4 months now. I bought both a while back, so I've tried with both apps on multiple devices(phones and tablets). I really wish the devs would fix this issue. I've already reported it to them multiple times, but I think more people need to complain to get the devs to look in to it or actually do anything about it.

I've just received an Otterbox Commuter and I like it a lot. One question though - are the flaps for the charging and headphone ports supposed to sit slightly proud of the case? It makes sense I suppose, otherwise they'd be rather difficult to open but it does look a bit odd.
