Finger print Scanner not working after Bootloader unlocK? - HTC One Max

hey guys, earlier today unlocked the boot loader on my max. All went pretty smoothly until i tried to set a finger print to unlock my phone again. What seems to happen now is when i swipe my finger for the final time it says "finger print not recorded, please try again". looks like i might have to return it but would love a fix if any of you knew of one. thanks!

Have you tried relocking the boot loader

Yes it seems that unlocking the bootloader kills the fingerprint sensor.
Sent from my HTC One max using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

And that means that no Unlocking can be done without breaking the Fingerprintsensor?

On a personal note:
It makes sense really. Your fingerprint is like a unique password that you cannot change so HTC is doing everything prudent to protect that password for you. I don't see a problem with this personally.
On a technical note:
I believe the TZ partition (mmcblk0p11) has a check for whether the device is LOCKED, UNLOCKED, or RELOCKED. If it is anything other than LOCKED then the fingerprint scanner is automatically disabled.
I believe there are two possible ways to re-enable the fingerprint scanner:
Issue the command fastboot oem lock from the bootloader then run a factory RUU for your carrier
Hex edit the TZ partition to remove the unlock check, then fastboot oem lock and subsequently unlock the device again
The first method would most likely require that you also flash the stock recovery from fastboot before relocking.
The second method would require S-OFF to function as it is very unlikely that mmcblk0p11 is writable with S-ON.
I am by no means an expert with HBOOT or TZ so I may be way off base here, but that's how I see it right now. I'll see if I can get a warning posted in the threads about the fact that unlocking the bootloader with HTC Dev method will disable the fingerprint scanner.

HTC dev unlock problemn

Hi guys.
Trying to unlock my boot loader so I can root my DNA and load a custom rom. Unfortunately I've run into a problem. When I go thru the steps at the HTC Dev site it comes back as unlock failed....with the following error code:
Error Code: 160.
Error Reason: MID Not Allowed.
I have no idea what this is telling me or what I'm doing wrong. The only thing I can think of is when choosing the device from their list, I couldn't find the DNA listed so I chose "all other devices". Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated!!
Sounds like your not copying the token thing correctly.
Either that, or you didn't do the supercid exploit.

As near as I can tell, I copied the token correctly. Tried it twice and got the same result.
What is the supercid exploit? Is it something I needed to do before HTC Dev unlocking?

Yep, you can't be on the ota though. If you are on the ota you can't unlock the bootloader for now.

Ok, got it figured out. I wasn't quite clear on what I had to do to unlock the boot loader. Re-read everything on the link that Bigandrewgold posted. Now it worked. I didn't realize I was on the " TA update" and hadn't done the supercid exploit. Once I did that, then I was able to get the unlock code from HTCDev and unlock the bootloader. Now I'm rooted successfully! Thanks a bunch guys.
Wait, you installed the over the air (OTA) update and were still able to unlock it?

Boot loader and ATT updates

Hello fellow One owners
So since were all frolicking in the blissfulness of unlocked boot loaders, could a accepting an update from ATT ever relock our boot loaders? I would like to know for future reference. Does it even matter since we have our unlock bin already? Thanks!

Side question: what is the official download page for adfree? Can't seem to find the legit one and I'm afraid of downloading it from some rogue website
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
For anyone else curious, here is adfree. Its legit, just look at the permissions when you install it. Click the green download button at the bottom, not the ones up top

the unlock bin is tied to the device ID of the phone software won't change that. Once you're unlocked you have to relock to accept an OTA anyway else it will fail.

But if you unlock your bootloader and root then won't need to relock to update. You can just wait till someone post the OTA here or the full rom to flash to your device

noob question

I have an GSM unlocked HTC One with bootloader unlocked. I didnt use lost the function of calc or sound recorder when unlocking that i have read. My question is will i still be able to receive OTA updates? and is there a very simple way to go back to stock or get the google play edition?
If you do anything to modify your phone you will not be able to accept OTA updates but you can always flash ruu's as long as you re lock the bootloader before you try to flash it. (which is also how you got to stock.) And currently the only way to run the play edition software is by flashing a custom Rom

So if I relock my bootloader and flash a stock ATT Ruu i will be able to accept the OTA updates? (if i understand you correctly)
I have only unlocked the sim and unlocked the bootloader via HTCDEV.com no rooting
Yes that's correct, SIM unlocking shouldn't affect anything, just the bootloader

You said you were on the stock Rom right? You probably can get away with just locking the bootloader. As for the ruu designgears has a thread in general

Is there an RUU that works for the AT&T HTC one?

Just noticed after a week with the phone, that the screen is pulling up out of the phone :\. Going to bring it to a store, but don't want it to be rooted/Rom'd etc.
Thanks.
Yes there is,
Look for it on the general section on the ATT forum/
Keep in mind that running the RUU will erase the sdcard also/
So I need to oem lock the phone, then run the RUU correct?

Downgrade from 1.27.531.11 to 1.27.531.8 and S-OFF available

In my search and attempt to find a method to downgrade 1.27.531.11 firmware and successfully run revone for S-OFF, I found it.

The downgrade is out there, DO NOT POST A LINK TO IT!!!! The thread will get closed again. Use your googling skills.
Has anyone tried this method with the bootloader unlocked? I'm just confused why the bootloader has to be re-locked.

When you run an RUU the bootloader has to be locked. You can always unlock it again. The HTC One toolkits make it really easy. Just save your email with the unlock.bin

i was in the same boat... make sure you are running the "ARUWizard" from the extracted folder and not the zip file. also do "fastboot reboot-bootloader" without the quotations. also update your drivers just to make sure. i got mine from hasoon's toolkit
