Up! And i'm really sorry for the offtopic
 @Kevinjoa

Look at xda Google it. I can't give you link as I am in holiday,
Search like for example how to backup/retire efs imei backups, Samsung devices.
A mod can clean up then here. Sorry just wanted to help the user. If there is anything else you might want to ask me please via pm or q&a thread.
Thanks.

Reading the updater scrip, it mounts /system on efs partition i think. Dont install the ROM for the moment.

This looks like a botched build..I WOULD NOT flash this until it gets worked out..

Not much difference between MIUI Android, Asnet, and MIUI.us. They are all Samsung based ROMs.
The cMIUI is CM9 & CM10 based, which give a different MIUI experience.
In my opinion the cMIUI is the smoothest and fastest of the group. I run it as my DD and haven't had any problems.

[SOLVED][Q] Help writing updater-script (set_perm, symlinks)

Hi guys,
I just tried to build my own rom from the Android 4.2 system dump, but I don't know how to write a real updater-script.
I took update-binary from FXP (not sure if I'm allowed to, so could someone tell me if I could use it?) and tried to write my own updater-script. It's looking like this:
Code:
mount("yaffs2", "MTD", "system", "/system");
ui_print("System mounted");
show_progress(0.500000, 0);
format("yaffs2", "MTD", "system", "0", "/system");
ui_print("System formatted");
mount("yaffs2", "MTD", "system", "/system");
package_extract_dir("system", "/system");
show_progress(0.100000, 0);
unmount("/system");
but after that it's not booting. Could be kernel related, too, that FXP 145 kernel is not working, but maybe something other is wrong.
What about these set_perm lines and symlinks? How do I know what I have to write there?
And how can I know where my rom stuck, if it is kernel related or what. Tried to logcat but logcat doesn't recognize device?!
Maybe someone could help me :good:
Best regards
Mihahn
Edit: Looks like I'm not able to build from a system dump and now we have Cyanogenmod 10.1
Okay it looks like it's not a rom problem, if someone knows how to compile a kernel for the rom it would be nice if he could post it here or PM me, that he makes the kernel and I the rom.
It's a kernel problem I think, because it stuck on the FXP 145 kernel logo...
Would be nice if you could help me to compile the kernel for the rom!
Thanks
Mihahn
A Rom based on 4.2 ?? Wow
Sent from my SK17i using xda app-developers app
Without setting proper permissions your Rom will not boot at all. Try using the META-INF folder from fxp cyanogenmod 10 Rom it should work (probably) and moreover in my personal opinion the kernel shouldn't be the problem because 4.1 to 4.2 is not a big leap and so 4.1 kernel would be sufficient.
Press thanks if I helped you
Sent from my ST15i using xda app-developers app
MetaInf folder from fxp gave a set_perm error, that's the problem and I don't know which values I have to edit to get the symlinks and set_perm working...
Sent from my SK17i running Jelly Bean via CM10
Okay, this is how I debug updater-scripts,
Add,
ui_print("1");
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Before first set perm command then
ui_print("2");
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Before 2nd set perm command and so on till the last line of code in the updater-script and you'll know after which line the error occurs and can look into that line of the code . It might be tedious process if your updater-script is loooong but it always works for me!
Hit thanks if I helped you
Sent from my ST15i using xda app-developers app
Yes similar to this I have done it, too. Changed some lines now and it's working very well with the updater-script by FXP :good:
Now my problem is, that it's not booting. The kernel logo appears, the led for cwm lights up, i wait, The led goes off, screen gets brighter, but the kernel logo stays.
Someone has an idea how to get it booting?
Sent from my SK17i running Jelly Bean via CM10
Which system dump are you using? Lg Nexus 4? Anyways, porting Rom is not piece of cake. Read some tuts, play with the system files and you might see the bootanimation sometime soon :thumbup: and even though I said kernel might not be a problem it might be actually a problem

Yes from the lg nexus 4. I think the problem is that the rom is odexed (nearly all apks had an odex file, too). But not sure...
Read many tutorials and I've already done some ports and roms and nearly all of them are working...
Have you got any other idea what I could do to get it working?
Maybe I should wait until the first official repos are released and then start to work from source...
Sent from my SK17i running Jelly Bean via CM10
I've never done any ports or some thing like that (not much free time) hope you'll succeed soon :thumbup:
Sent from my ST15i using xda app-developers app
Thank you, I hope somebody could help me, any developer who could take a look on the rom and the updater script and maybe build a kernel to the rom...
Would be great to have an Android 4.2 rom before the sources are officially released (on the 13.11.?)
Haven't got much time, too, but when I have time I like to port roms or build my own ones :good:
Sent from my SK17i running Jelly Bean via CM10
It looks like the nexus 4 is a xhdpi phone isn't it compulsory that you resize each and every image inside every apk to mdpi resolution including the boot animation?? And can you get a logcat right from the boot (pastebin)?

[Update][BOOT.IMG][Baseband Ver:MOLY.WR8.W1248.MD.WG.MP.V6.P18] [2013/07/04]

Hi,
As per the new firmware update reported by viijay4b7, check the below link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=45161808&postcount=20
I was wondering how to update the firmware without flashing the entire ROM. finally figured out and made a update zip.
This update is working on MIUI ROMs
This update only replaces the system/etc/firmware/* with the new firmware, i still need to figure out how to replace the boot.img
I haven't tested it on other roms, this will need different set of permissions for different ROMs
Please take backup of you ROM before flashing this
Try it at your own risk, I take no responsibility for any damages to your phone.
Feedback appreciated.
If the update doesn't work please reboot into recovery and restore the backup, let me know the ROM your are using, will try and provide an update.

If you are able to make calls and data line is working then no need to dirty flash.... but i would advice to reflash....
Was it showing earlier? are you getting any errors? Can you share recovery log. Also goto system/etc/firmware folder and check if you have additional folder starting with ft5206. If yes then baseband must be updated. This folder was not present in earlier roms.

Please DO NOT post links for untested recovery's. There are too many people here who dont read the warnings and flash everything.
Messing with recovery partition could render your device useless!
It's best to delete the link and have a closed group with a couple of testers. Use this thread for development purposes only for now.
As soon as its confirmed working you can add the link.

Please do not go around scaring people!
If you knew enough about the devices you'd know the devices have no recovery partition and no image is being flashed. No chance of messing with the recovery partition.
You should've had checked the zip atleast before saying this. Please edit your post.

My apologies to the OP as dotafan is correct about the recovery partition.
Please do understand that this is not meant to scare people but make people aware not to flash just any zip.
