modem.bin and NON-HLOS.bin

odin-flashable
wewt!
EDIT: Here's a flashable MJ7 modem and NON-HLOS (no need to be on MI1 and patch it)
http://invisiblek.org/sch-i545/firmware/jfltevzw_MJ7_fw.tar.md5
@Chris123NT mentioned that he flashed this and it didn't seem to take, but after powering his phone off completely, and then booting directly into download mode, seemed to get it to stick. YMMV

Its really Here!!!
Update and for sure lose Root Thanks anyways:cyclops:

In theory, couldn't you take a previous CWM/TWRP flashable zip and replace the modem file in it with this one and flash it in recovery?

K... Guess that had issues with Odin. Here's how I did it...
Odin this modem/apnhlos: http://invisiblek.org/sch-i545/firmware/jfltevzw_MI1_fw.tar.md5
Then patch it via recovery with this: http://invisiblek.org/sch-i545/firmware/MI1_to_MJ7_modem_patch.zip
We'll have an actual Odin flashable once we acquire a full tar.
FYI with that apnhlos you won't have audio on AOSP roms until tomorrow's build of cm (for you MDK'ers out there)

Invisiblek,
Did you actually get those files to flash in odin? I looked at them and they are still padded so I assumed they wouldn't pass in odin because they wouldn't appear as signed. Using your modified method you mentioned, afterwards someone could dd their modem.bin partition to their sdcard and then upload it and one of us just has to trim the file and it would be the same as a modem.bin from an odin tar I believe, this is essentially how I created the modem.bin for OYUAMDK

Im sure it does work fine, the issue is with all this knox business arising i'd rather have a signed modem.bin than unsigned one regardless of whether the unsigned modem.bin works or not.

Can you upload to a better site? Mediafire, dropbox, multiupload etc.. the filename is "modem_FLASHABLE_EMJ7.zip" but when I download it to my phone it downloads as "ofae8ms1eev60bu9penkc9qgu3.bin" I don't understand how or why.

[DEVS/Firmware] JSS15J.N900PVPUBMI5 update.zip

Hi guys.
Here is the update.zip for MI5. I have taken the liberty to remove the firmware (bootloader, trustedzone, etc) from this just incase Samsung is trying to pull something. I'm posting two versions, one with the firmware and one without. Appyling this update.zip caused my phone to not boot with the updated kernel. I had to revert back to the MI3 kernel in order to boot up. I'm assuming this is due to either root, or me removing the firmwares. That is why i'm labeling this as dev.
NOTE: DO NOT FLASH THIS UNLESS YOU HAVE A BACKUP OF YOUR PREVIOUS KERNEL AND CAN RESTORE.
NOTE2: You can safely flash the Update WITH previous kernel once it goes live.
Update with no firmwares:
MI5 Update NO bootloader
Update with firmwares:
MI5 Update FULL
Update with previous kernel:
COMING SOON
Thanks. If I don't see a new TAR this weekend I'll patch the modem so it can be flashed via Odin.

Can't wait to see how the mi5 setup works out. Cause as of right now, the call quality is horrible. I'm dropping 10+ calls a day. In areas my note2 would never drop a call.

When you are in TWRP, the "boot" check box, is the kernel. So, when backing up or restoring, as long as that box is checked, the kernel should be backed up (or restored).

We have been trying all day to get the update... It is not yet available for me or freeza.
if you would like too return to stock, and if you get the OTA. let us know...
we can walk you through pulling the files, and uploading, so either myself or freeza can make a flashable for everyone. I also spoke to Garwyn, and he doesn't have the OTA yet either. It also isn't posted on Sammobile, and it isn't available in Kies yet either...
Be patient. Obviously, we will be posting stock rom, odin restore, and update zips/. these things just take time.

New S4 owner - safestrap/ROM questions

So I am a new S4 owner and have rooted my phone and installed Safestrap. I'm on the 4.3 MK2 build and would like to flash a ROM with SS.
My question is, can I flash any rom once I create a new rom slot or are only certain ones compatible. If so is there a list so I don't brick my phone.
I really just want to make some tweaks like in 3minit. Can I flash the 3minit framework with SS and use that?

A very close one is Eclipse S4 TW Edition. I am running it now, but have the same problem as explained here.. I created 1 rom slot for this rom and now have no internal storage space available. All my storage seems to be in System Memory under Miscellaneous files, but I can't expand that any to see what is using it...
My thoughts are leaning towards having to wipe the phone completely and restoring a nandroid backup to the Stock slot, to be able to get full internal storage access using a custom rom. Little weary of doing that as i love the benefit of having the stock rom available if any problems arise, but don't have any space to do anything at the moment. Been posting on Eclipse's forum and also the safestrap forum hoping to get an answer from previous experiences, but it is not looking good...
I appreciate the devs and others around that help us newbies out when these challenges arise.

Yea, already have one of those. Soft bricked the phone week 1 of having it... I know that functionality exists now and works beautifully, just really was hoping there was another solution and not be a worrisome burden on the forums... I like the challenges and the learning experiences that come along with performing such tasks, but never want to lose a device in the process. I guess if all failed, I could go back to my dusty iPhone 5s.

First thing anyone who is going to mod/hack their phones should do is download the correct stock firmware for their phone, download Odin, get all the drivers needed on the computer and just be ready in case the phone does get bricked. Takes less than 10 minutes to unbrick a phone when everything is in place

Galaxy Mega 6.3 Sprint Version : SPH-L600 Stock firmwares with root: Flashable Zips

I do not own this phone.
This thread will provide custom recovery ( CWM/TWRP ) flashable zip files of the stock frmware without knox software. This way you need not upgrade using OTA and hence will be able to move between stock and custom firmware if need to.
If you use OTA to upgrade to the latest firmware, your bootloader will be upgraded to facilitate knox. Once updated there is no going back. The roms in this thread will help you overcome this issue.
The only prerequisite is that you are not already running a knox enabled bootloader. You can find this out by going into download mode and checking if knox entries are shown in bootloader screen.
You will have the following advantages.
Bootloader is not touched, hence any compatible rom can be flashed, including custom roms
Only Samsung knox files are removed
Root & Busybox
Stock kernel
Deodexed
Zipaligned
Procedure
Download the Odin version of Philz recovery or my custom twrp recovery and flash.
Reboot to recovery first else custom recovery will be replaced by stock recovery.
Flash the ROM zip file
Reboot and Njoy...
As an additional step, you can flash the modem that comes with the ROM. The procedure to flash the modem is given below.
Use Odin v3.04
Untick Autoreboot
Flash modem
Reboot once again into Download Mode using (Vol Down plus Home button combi)
Flash Modem once more
Once done, unplug then reboot device manually.
If this doesn't work, try repeating the flash process again while rebooting manually and with auto-reboot option turned off.
Downloads
All files can be downloaded from my Mega folder. Choose the mega link and select SPH-L600 STOCK FIRMWARE folder. MD5 hash values are available in a separate file inside the folder.

Well now that I'm over being a wise guy, I think what I'm reading is that with this apk you can do outbound calls and texts, just not on LTE. Is that correct? And is the phone apk rom specific? Like so many others, I'm guessing, I'm really itching to ditch the Sprint stock rom. But wait... just this second for the umpteenth time my phone is telling me that I have left the network with roaming turned off (sitting in my living room, smack dab in the middle of an LTE coverage area.) This is killing me!! Haha!!

You shouldn't have this problem on a stock ROM. I suggest you flash the modem that came with the ROM. Its available as a separate Odin flashable tar file.

Yeah that's what I think. I downloaded it the other day so I'll do that this morning. As an aside, I really need to dig in and learn how to do this (cook/build,) but I'm a school teacher with almost no time to devote to my own education in this regard. I have been looking around at some of the guides but there is some much information that I'm not really sure where to start (suggestions?). I tend to be a bit obsessive/compulsive when it comes to technology, so much so that my friends and family often start to wonder "what happened to me." I imagine others can relate. On spring break this week; time to play.
Thank you.

Very funny, Mr.Nair. And I'm an English teacher to boot! I would relish having someone with experience to mentor me. Just to show you how much teachers look forward to their breaks(read mental exhaustion,) I discovered today that after flashing a custom recovery and rooting this little Sprint demon the other day, I had NOT flashed the firmware you uploaded. Can't believe I didn't do that. This came to light after I flashed the CM ROM for I9205 (I know, NOT recommended, but I did it for kicks.) Your CM build installed beautifully, and I was able to connect to WiFi, but of course I didn't have a cell data connection. I flashed the L600 modem in Odin a couple times on top of CM and applied various settings using the phone apk moosiemooses linked and eventually did get a mobile data connection, but I couldn't make it persistent. I wound up restoring the nandroid I made the other day; this is when I discovered that I hadn't flashed the firmware version in your Mega folder. So I did that after lunch today, flashed the modem twice and after a bit of fiddling all seems to be working well. I'm fairly new to this carrier and the network seems a bit finicky, but that's just my opinion. I spent most of the day doing this, and I think I learned something in the process, just not clear about what that is exactly.<g>
Thanks.
Carl

[LINK][ROM][ODIN][TAR]SM-G900P NE5 (NE5 Modem/Kernel/ROM - Stock)

Evening folks! Thanks to an anonymous source we present to the community... the NE5 Stock tarball!
Main improvement on this build: Wi-fi calling has been enabled.
This tarball is verified to be a full restore. (Thanks @CNexus!)
It means flashing this will result in a data wipe.
I'll try to get a nodata version put together by the weekend.
Download Location:
http://www.rwilco12.com/downloads.p... Galaxy S5 (Sprint) (SM-G900P)/Stock ROMs/NE5
Instructions:
Download Odin
Download the tarball and extract from 7z file.
Flash in PDA slot in Odin
Profit!
The file comes from an anonymous source but has been verified before posting.
One clicks may not be possible unless this can be flashed in an older version of Odin.
It could be it may just need the old trick of unpacking and repacking - again, hoping to have more time soon to address this.
Enjoy!
Gonna give it a try!
Worked for me. I flash with Odin, got a FAIL! message but the phone booted into NE5 without a problem.
@garwynn
Full restore...cache commands:
Code:
--update_package=CACHE:recovery/sec_csc.zip
--carry_out=csc_factory
--wipe_data
For those who flashed it, notice any changes? I'm still on the NCB stock ROM rooted with some tweaks. I'm pretty sure I should wipe everything before I flash the stock tar NE5 right?

The tar wipes everything already so you would be good. I just got an S5 yesterday so I didn't have a lot of time to play with it to tell the differences. I do know that wifi calling is added. The only other issue I was having was with LTE. I could not get a reliable LTE signal at home. And I could only connect at work if I turned on Connection Optimizer. The first thing I tried was disabling that to see if I could get LTE at work and it connected immediately. I won't know if it improved anything at home until later on this afternoon.

Thank you. Yeah I swore I wasn't going to purchase the S5 mainly because of the lack of 32GB internal storage but also because I didn't feel like it was a big enough jump from the S4. But my daughter has been begging me for a new phone for months and I finally broke down  She was still running my old S2 and never asks for anything so I had to.
Download is going REALLY slow for me :/ thanks for this though!
PS- What's the MD5?

MD5 is inserted into the tar - so if you get an error on MD5 checksum let me know please.

Anyone try mobile odin for this?

Everything went well on flashing (via Odin) NE5. However, I still have a software/baseband of ND2 and a build of NE5. Am I good with this or should I ensure that I need those two showing ND2 changed?

+1 same for me.. Was hoping this would update everything.. So is the only way update baseband to odin back to ND2 stock and wait for OTA update to NE5? Thanks!
EDIT: Decided to wipe data/reset in stock recovery and then ran this thru odin a 2nd time and now everything is showing NE5 this time.. Thanks guys!

[MODEMS][ODIN] Modem Repository - Download Them All Here! (SM-G900P)

It seems like I do this for every device I own so I might as well do it here on the S5 as well.
Here you can find every modem currently in existence for the Sprint Galaxy S5 (SM-G900P). We will add more as new builds are released.
Modems control every aspect of communication on your phone. Having the correct modem can influence your data speeds, your phone call quality and more. Different people report better results with one modem or another but there seems to be no rhyme or reason. I recommend flashing them until you find one that works well for you.
Currently the modems available are only available in One-Click or TAR formats. But I have it on good authority that our best and brightest devs are working on a way to flash them in a ZIP...
Each of these modem flashers include both the modem.bin and the NON-HLOS.bin. This ensures that you're running the same build version for both 3G, LTE/4G and Wi-Fi connections and helps prevent connection issues.
As a general reminder, I cannot and will not be held responsible for any issues that arise from improper flashing of these modems.
The modems are listed in the order of most recent to the oldest released.
Please do not post direct links to the modems on the site. All modems are available through the links on this post. Thank you!

Available Modems (TAR Format): NE5 / ND2 / NCB

Awesome rwilco12 thanks for doing this. :good::good:
It was a huge help with my Sprint Samsung Galaxy S2 Epic 4G touch (man I hated that name...).

It looks like Sammobile is having problems right now so I cant look but it could have been an incremental security patch that will never see a full Tar release.
Meaning the only way to get it is to flash prior full tar and take the OTA update.
This doesn't mean there never will be one available. Sammobile is notoriously slow on posting firmware.

I did a OTA to PG1 straight from 4.4 so like if i want to return to stuck there is no possible way then right?
Edit: Was wondering, if I had to without bricking my phone, can a downgrade be possible from PG1 to PE2?
