How to Use
Download file from: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23203820527944861
Unzip file to your computer (desktop or some location)

Ahh finally! Thanks. I thought Verizon was gonna troll us

I see what you did there I was going to pull the emergency recovery tar next.

I flashed this to my soft bricked phone. It is still stuck at the small Verizon logo, just like the previous ROMs. I did the factory reset. I think the phone is trying to build something. What else can I do?

How long did you wait? There's a long delay after the first boot while the Dalvik cache is rebuilt. I'd wait at least 30 minutes before assuming that it's locked up.

I waited several hours. Stuck. I think it is just my phone. Stuck at previous ROMs too. The new ROM does not fix this.

Sorry, that was probably poor word choice on my part. Mean to clarify that it completely refreshes the device to software condition as if coming "out-of-box". Unfortunately you will not downgrade the very original "out-of-box" MDK firmware. With this device it's pretty much once you go up, you can't come back down. Sorry for the confusion.

[Q] Question about returning phone

Hey guys I need to return my phone to be fixed, but have a slight problem. The firmware is all stock except for when it boots up it says it is a GT-I9100. This is left from a previous flash that I did, but I went back to stock and never bothered to fix that, because it didn't really bug me. Now my phone won't recognize a charger or any usb plugs. My question is will Samsung/AT&T still accept my phone for replacement with this? If not is there anyway I can fix the boot screen without plugging my phone in? Thanks guys sorry for the noob question, but I am not really sure what to do and this is kind of a specific problem, so I couldn't find anything in the search. Once again really appreciate any help!

No, don't do that.
You can either use Mobile Odin to remove it, or do a complete Return to Stock using Odin.

You're absolutely right. For some reason I thought you were stock rooted...my mistake. Use my second option then.
As long as you root it, you can use Mobile Odin. Not like it matters anyway, you just need to get rid of the GT-I9100 and then flash back to stock again, thus eliminating root.
Did Odin one-click back to stock not work for you? Because it sounds like you might have flashed I9100 bootloaders and flashing I777 bootloaders should fix it (which if I'm not mkstaken, the one click does include). Someone correct me on both points if I'm wrong , I'm simply conjecturing.

Yea I tried this, didn't work. I could probably get it into download mode, if I borrowed someones battery, but I am not sure why that matters if the computer won't detect it.
I finally got my phone to connect after cleaning it for like an hour, I just have to hold it at a certain angle. Everytime I try and flash the bootloader I get a fail though, I am using odin 1.8.5 and the bootloader here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18859438&postcount=199. After it fails I have to reflash using the one click no bootloader here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18859438&postcount=199. Is there any one click with the stock bootloaders someone could please link me to? Thanks once again guys
Both links appear to be the same.
Anyway, why would you flash the bootloader?

That was my suggestion, I thought it might be an I9100 bootloader that he flashed which causes the GT-I 9100 to show up on boot, and he wants it back at stock for returning. Again I could be wrong, and of course flashing bootloaders is very dangerous, especially with your faulty USB connection (I didn't know it was faulty when I posted before).
EDIT: Did you ever try rooting so you can go the Mobile Odin route (which would be much safer)?

Since your USB connection is buggy, and since flashing bootloaders is really dangerous anyway, I'd try this instead. If it doesn't help, let us know.

This first, please. This will tell you which bootloader you currently have.
If the usb connection is lost while the bootloader is flashing, the phone will hard brik, and will require jtag repair to recover, which costs about $50 to $60. Therefore, it is necessary to know what the phone status really is before taking that risk.
If you determine that you really do have the I9100 secondary bootloader, then you put the I777 UCKH7 sbl.tar in the PDA slot of Odin3 v1.85. Or you could flash the I777UCKH7-CL503881 FULL Odin3 One-click Downloader which includes the param.lfs and the secondary bootloader.
Mobile Odin will not flash bootloaders or param.lfs

[Q] Problems restoring stock rom

I have a backup of my stock rom from when I got the phone and I would like to restore that back but it won't let me. When in recovery and I hit restore I get "E:Can't mount /sdcard" so I try advanced restore and then I get "E:Can't mount sdcard" and finally I tried restore from internal sdcard and then I get an error saying "Couldn't open directory. No files found." bearing in mind I don't have any sd card inserted but it's how I always used to do it. So I tried going to mounts and storage then mounting the sd card from there but get an error saying "Error mounting /sdcard!".
What do I do please?

It's the only recovery I have, but how would I go about re flashing it? Just put it in a .zip or something?
have you tried looking for another recovery or looking into the android development for your phone.
shouldnt be that hard to put one on, in fact if it becomes that hard, it should only be as hard as running a few ADB commands. look for one that you like and check out the instructions

No , hes talking about kernel. You need to try a different kernel (they include cwm recovery).
Flash the kernel/recovery you used when backing up the rom.

I can't even remember what kernel I was using back then. It was 2 years ago now.
I'm not sure if it's all worth it, I'm only recycling it at the O2 store for money, does it matter? Is installing custom roms illegal? Because my only worry is them testing it by turning it on or something and seeing that I'm running cMIUI.

Dude don't worry and that phone is worth the fix. As far as I c it you don't even have it that bad. What atheist said is correct.
All you need to do is look for a recovery / kernel that most of the time come together and flash it. Just read the instructions on that post.
After all you're in the right place to get your phone hooked up and fixed whenever u have problems. Don't be nervous about it. Unless u want a new phone lol.

I totally forgot about kies man, never even had it installed. It seems to have worked, and I'm on a stock ROM now but when I boot up it's stuck on the Samsung Galaxy S II logo where it keeps illuminating..
I'm not sure if that matters, if the store I take it to for money does end up testing it, at least they can see it turns on, just boot loops for some reason? :/

[Q] Sch-i545 Soft Bricked (Semi-Noob)

Alright guys as my title states I pulled a "noob move" and it looks like I've soft bricked my phone (It won't boot past the verizon splash screen). I've done a little research and I'm pretty familiar with Odin and how it works. Seems to be the same concept as jungle flasher and I've modded a few 360's in my time. I've tried, to no avail, to flash my phone back with the stock image numerous times and I figured it was time to consult the experts. What I've done so far: Downloaded the factory stock restore TAR from Rwilco12's site and put that in the PDA file browser of Odin. My phone shows up in Odin when connected in download mode with a light blue com:4 box. I read sometimes this is supposed to be yellow? Other versions of Odin it is yellow. This instance was attempted in 3.07. 1.85 it shows up as yellow. Regardless of either version, they both fail after the "aboot" step. I've tried two computers and have failed miserably all morning. Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Try using ODIN and flashing the stock tar file. That should set you straight. You should be able to find what you need in the Android Dev section. If you are new to ODIN, open the app on your pc, click PDA, find the stock tar file, ensure "repartition" is unchecked and hit start. That should get you back to 100% stock. Do any applicable system updates and attempt the root process again. If you have any troubles look for qbking77's Note 3 root guide. Good luck. If all else fails I'd try a return and hope they don't know how to check for the flash flags.

Someone found a way to fix the galaxy 3's soft brick problem that was like this over at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1840030 I'm hoping someone creates those files for the Note3 so I can try it.

I had the same problem, flash CF-Auto-Root again
this happened on my 2nd day with my new note 3. had to exchange it. There was no way to fix it.
I had the same problem but I was able to get my phone to boot into recovery. I did a wipe data/factory reset and it worked afterwards.

Bricked note 3/help
Tried to root my NOTE 3 through Odin and instructions here and is bricked stuck at the screen below.. Anyone can help or recommend a repair place in NYC?
I had the same problem, except my problem was when I tried to restore nandroid back up....the root, and flashing of the rom went well.
I went to restore my nandroid back up, and it started bootlooping. This was the 2nd time this issue occurred, the first time downloading the tar resolved it. The second time it did not.
Nice dude..glad all worked out!

I can help you if you still need it
solved it by accident
Thanks so much for your reply and availability to help but after some hours of despair I read somewhere that Kies would be help and fiddled with the settings a bit and realized that I could download and restore factory settings through the software... Such a relief not ending up with a $800 paperweight!!! (and tought me a lesson not to trust just about any rooting direction posted here!!!)

As I'm on a Mac will try to reconstruct the scene
On Kies go to Tools and choose Firmware Upgrade and Initialization
After some prompts for inputing first the Model number and the S/N, Kies will start downloading the software and will prompt you when to connect your phone..
Very easy....

Where did you find the serial number? The numbers on the box and under the battery don't work for me so I can't get past that screen.

Well, that's exactly what I used what was below the battery and the box... without those you can't really move forward... does it give you an error when you log in with those?

Yeah says they're invalid serial numbers. I asked a buddy of mine to give me his numbers and I get the same error with his. I did the DEC number as both full XXXXXXXXXXXXX and XXX XXX XXX XXX etc ...
Neither work. Also tried with HEX. Guess I'm just seriously SOL.

[Q] Lost Internet after flash

I was trying to flash an updated version of the ROM i had, but a verizon message came up, essentially telling me my bootloader was still locked. I looked it up, and the fix is supposedly flashing it back to stock, which I tried, but it has no internet connection (wifi or service) and it loaded the ROM i had been trying to install earlier.
I double checked my model number, to see if that did anything, and it's changed from what it was when I flashed the first ROM, so i tried flashing the firmware for that model, but Odin just gives me a fail message for that, so i can get my ROM to run, but my internet is borked, and I can't get it back to stock to see if that fixes it.
Because I can't get internet access it's screwing up a lot of my attempts to fix it, and my computer refuses to read it, so I can't do anything from that end.
Also, while my WiFi refuses to turn on (switch pops back to grey after trying to turn it on) my service bars act like they're receiving, changing up and down, but they're greyed out and the carrier name is 'Empty'.

Original Build: if you mean what I was using before flash, I can't find the link to it, it was one of the first stock android ROMs for the GS4. If you mean prior to that, it was the standard Samsung TouchWiz the GS4 comes with.
I was trying to flash the ROM found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2340783
I flashed it using TWRP > wipe data/cache, factory reset > install zip > wipe dalvik cache > boot. When that didn't seem to work, I tried flashing stock using Odin, as I can't get the zips onto my phone now.

I mean the last official build the phone was on before you started flashing. (MDK, ME7, MI1, MJ7 or MK2)
Did you ever take any OTA's?
When you say TWRP, do you mean TWRP with Safestrap or just TWRP?

Erm, I believe it was MDK, but I'm not certain, and I wouldn't know how to go about checking that retroactively if I could.
I didn't knowingly take any OTA's
Just TWRP.

OK so if your phone was running Twrp, and not SafeStrap twrp, we can then probably assume your phone was on MDK.
What tar file did you use to Odin?

I don't know what you want exactly, the name of the file I tried to use to flash back to stock is 'SCH-I545_MD2_423399_Kernel.tar', I can't link because xda says I can't link outside sources until 10 posts, and I'm a tad new.

OK so that looks like the pre release kernel and not the stock firmware file. So that may explain why you're having issues still.

Those files youve been mentioning are from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2290798
Those are needed to r
ROOT the phone AFTER you flash the stock firmware I linked you to.
So am I confused here or are you trying to get it back to stock MDK....or just trying to root the phone?

Tell you what... Go to this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2301259
It has a very nice set of instructions that the first one I linked you to doesn't.
That links you to the no wipe MDK tar file. You should be OK to use that one.
Very important that you use the MDK file and not one of the others as those will lock your phone back up and no more custom recovery for you.
Its fairly easy. Let me know how I can help

I'm hitting the hay ... Good luck with that.
If you run into problems with the no wipe tar files in the second link go and download the mdk tar file from
http://www.rwilco12.com/downloads.p...Galaxy S4 (Verizon) (SCH-I545)/Stock ROMs/TAR
And try that.
Make sure you're using a good USB cable as well.

I got my phone back to stock, made sure my internet was working, rooted it, installed TWRP, and everything worked fine, but I have a question that might be a bit out of the bounds of this post. When I tried to use TWRP to flash stock android onto it I get the message "Verizon has detected unauthorized software [etc]". This is linked to the bootloader, if I recall correctly, but I can't find some really good help with it.
Further help would appreciated, but what you've done already has helped me far more than I had hoped when I posted, so thank you, oh so much.

Ok so you're in TWRP and what file are you trying to flash exactly??
We use Odin to flash stock firmwares. And devs do make"stock ROMs" that can be flashed in twrp...so really I need to know what it isv exactly you're trying to do...
Again
What file and what steps you're taking and then I can help more

In TWRP, trying to flash the ROM I linked in my second post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2340783
As for steps: I boot into TWRP > factory reset > wipe Dalvik > Install zip (for the ROM and GApps) > Wipe Dalvik > reboot system.

I already flashed to stock/rerooted/reinstalled twrp, previously it was giving me the error "Verizon has encountered unauthorized software on this device, please turn off your phone and take it to the nearest store" or something along those lines.
newb question: what does AOSP stand for?
