[Q] Port 4.4 AOSP Nexus 4 ROM to OG? - AT&T LG Optimus G

Any chance of us getting this ported over? Seeing as how OG and Nexus 4 goodies have been shared back and forth etc.:victory:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2506678

If you have a converted LGOG it's just as simple as flashing it directly, but I'm sure as time passes we'll get a proper ROM based on 4.4 soon enough.

There's nothing in the original development subforum *here* for the LGOG, are you meaning some other location, like the Nexus 4 subforum perhaps?
DOH!!! Nevermind, found it:

Yeah I was about to say, give it a wee bit. I'm not surprised that houstonn has it up, cm and the others should update sometime soon as well.

This phone will have long term support. More than most at least. I really see this phone standing the test of time

Share your Nexus 4 conversion experience

Hi everyone !!! soon i'm going to buy an Optimus G and i read in the forums that since is the same hardware (virtually) as the nexus 4, it can be converted into a nexus 4, i've been reading quite a while about the subject and learning how things work on the Optimus G, but i can't find any users opinion about it and i can't find any videos of the conversion working so i created this thread so anyone who wants to share his expierence about the conversion or anyone who wants to share videos or photos of the conversion working it can be posted here
No need to do the conversion as we can run mako kernel natively now.

so are you saying that the rom's like PA3.15 in the android development section work on the optimus g as they would work on a nexus 4, but still why don't turn the optimus g into a nexus 4 completely and install all the nexus 4 goodies ?

We are referring to all the 4.2 ROMs in the optimus g android dev section like root box, chaos, aokp, liquid smooth and cm10.1 in original dev section.
Why deal with all the problems that converting can bring if you decide to swotch back to stock partitons?

As everyone has said, during the last several weeks there's been an explosion of new ROMs. No need for n4 conversion!
it seems that i chose the right moment to buy an optimus g, so with this new modified kernels for the cellphone it would be one of the best devices to run an AOSP rom, thanks for the info
soo i bough the phone and the first thing i said when i held it was :HOLYY SH*T is gorgeous and its freaakin fast, now im going to install PA3.15 i will tell my experience with the rom later
I love it. Stock 4.2.2, rooted and deodexed with .33 modem. Everything I need works no problem.

so i was tempted to convert and i did it lol
so i converted my lgog into a nexus 4 and this device its amazing i did all the fixes and the device is running well, great battery life, amazing speed and a pretty cool Google bootloader splash lol, i made a video just for showing you guys my phone in it's actual state
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTKE0sSulKc
How'd you come to the decision to convert and go to a n4 ROM? To each his own, but there's some pretty good Roms in the android Dev section and who knows what else to come.
And lolol what is with the random flexing..
Sent from my LG-E970 using xda app-developers app
i like the feeling that im using a 100% stock AOSP ROM and if the device is almost like 98% identical as the Nexus 4 why not do it, its a shame that the developers do not support the conversion no more, and with the flexing lol i was bored lol
It's not supported because the long-run effects aren't known, and there's nothing wrong with the AOSP/AOKP/CM/PA ROMs we have. But good luck with it!
I ditched 33 modem. Now using 24 & 27 interchangeably. They are holding Att reception much better. No issues thus far.

I enjoyed the conversion for a couple of weeks until it started getting screwy for me. Overheating, GPS stopped working, constant signal drop and bootlooped daily. Loving RootBox, though. All the advantages of AOKP, PA and CM in one.

I was tempted to convert for the longest time. Finally got the nerve the day we got AOSP, so no need in my book. I used rootbox for a while, but it started acting screwy on me recently. Switched to liquid smooth tonight and seems even better.

I am also awaiting to see results of 4.3 additions to current rom projects.
But I personally think the LGOG design is much nicer than the N4, the N4 rounded top and bottom make it look like HTC wannabe and seems to add bulk to the phones.
If I had known about the Oppo Find 5 earlier, I would have gotten that instead since the lack of microSD, LTE and the terrible design on the N4 turned me off completely. So ended up with the LGOG for $49, at least the price was attractive since I already pay for the data plan.
FYI, the iPhone 4S is still $100 more at AT&T. And I see AT&T still has iPhone 4, guess Apple in their contract made AT&T buy far more phones than they were able to sell.
- I noticed some AT&T employees even had Windows 8 logo on their shirts, to promote the Nokia WP8 phones, with the shirt on, tried desperately to convince me to upgrade to the iPhone 4 .99 upgrade, not the 4S, not the 5. I found that very amusing.
Can't wait for 4.3 on our OG

It is 4.3 running on a stock JB LGOG. As nygfan760 said, any mako kernel will boot on the LGOG, as long as it is updated with the jellybean partitions, which is why the kernel version is identical. I am using it because an android 4.2.2 kernel will not boot android 4.3, caused by changes in the code base between the versions, such as SEAndroid support.
Kernel modifications will be needed for a fully working device. External sd card and physical touch buttons are the main things that would require a new kernel build, and will not be possible until source is released.

To be honest, i'll rather stay on cyanogenmod or pacman even if its jellybean than kitkat stock without the extra stuff.
I still have a hard time understanding why Nexus 4 got it before G2 because Nexus 5 is basicly same hardware as G2, but it doesnt bother me so much.

Because everyone in the Paranoid Android team owns a Nexus 4 and all has bought the Nexus 5. Pretty sure lots of them own the Nexus tablets also.
Honestly, I tried Kit Kat on my Galaxy Nexus and I don ´t know what to think about. Yeah it is faster, but LG G2 is fast anyway. Can ´t find anything which would be esential.
I hope that at least battery will improve. Otherwise it´s not big deal.

I have been running cyanogenmod since it came to g2 and i consider it stable, especially after todays snapshot release.
For me it doesnt matter if its a nexus or not i flash a custom rom anyways, and in this case the g2 hardware is better than n5 with the same software i see no reason to get n5 besides the price if you live in a country where playstore devices are available.
So you're saying its bug free? Looking at the thread it looks like a bunch of force closing etc. Etc.

I don't think that you even read the article, it was published on 14 Nov and discussed the claims of French carrier SFR that the LG G2 Android 4.4 KitKat update would roll out in either November or December of this year. The author concluded that LG G2 users will be waiting until next year for an Android 4.4 KitKat update.
