[Q] Replacing digitizer does not fix dead strip - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, I replaced the digitizer on an Atrix 4G that had the dead strip in the middle of the screen that seems to be so common. However, replacing it did not fix the problem, the new digitizer is as dead as the old one. Could this possibly be a faulty digitizer? I'm wondering if it's worth the trouble to try replacing the screen again with another digitizer, or if there is just something wrong with the motherboard.

[Q] Is it possible to separate digitizer (touch) from the lcd screen

Hello,
I replaced my streak 5 screen earlier but managed to tear the touch ribbon cable in the process. I cant afford another screen replacement but i do have my old cracked screen so i was wondering if the touch could somehow be seperated from the lcd and put into my new one. Has anyone had experience doing this ?

digitizer or lcd problem?

My screen is blank but i can't know if it is digitizer or lcd screen problem. I removed digitizer and the screen is still blank.
So the problem is probably with lcd and not with digitizer. Am i wrong?

I know that this is an older thread however I need to know if the LCD & digitizer are fused together or not? If it is similar in construction to new phones like S3's it is something worth knowing.
I unknowingly bought an HTC One XL digitizer only, on eBay. There wasn't any mention that they are fused together making it nearly impossible to separate the digitizer from the LCD. Why they sell them separately without letting people know this is beyond me, when I asked they said "you buy the part then send it to a repair center for them to fix", Erm!!! yeah... ok... moving on
If I don't have to buy both parts I erm don't want to. So There! Sorry about the shoddy sentence structure, etc... I am rushing this
I have since found out that the screen is fused together so don't buy just the digitizer buy both together as one unit. You may find YouTube Videos showing you that it is possible to separate the digitizer from the LCD without damage but most of these are staged repairs. The amount of heat needed to separate the two parts can easily damage the LCD and or other components. One of the YouTube videos showed a "Joe the average consumer" (yeah sure he was) separating the two pieces without using any heat at all. Maybe I missed the part where he sacrificed the baby to some phone deity and other incantations that are needed to separate the two parts successfully. I don't see how he could do it otherwise.
*I am not responsible for any dead babies cracked screens or other erm... stuff like life in jail.

Samsung Galaxy mega digitizer replacement question

Hi
I recently dropped my phone which caused the digitizer to stop responding to touches.
Anyways, long story short, i managed to take the lcd and digitizer apart. It was much much harder compared to galaxy s3. I almost gave up half way.
Anyways, if you see the pictures, lcd is completely white but when i just hold the digitzer above it, lcd starts to work fine. Seems like there was a film between lcd and digitizer which made the lcd show real colours..
Have a completely broken the lcd? or is there still hope. Digitizer is obviously cheaper compared to getting a whole lcd. I was hoping to stick it together with loca once i had a new digitizer... Any ideas?
led or lcd

I'm exploring the same question. I've seen the led sold separatly from the lcd. And seen a youtube where someone mistakenly separated them instead of the digitizer from the lcd. Do you have any connection to the digitizer when holding it above ?

[Q] screen replacement

Hi guys,
Just got myself a desire 610 and wondering if I need to replace the whole unit as iv smashed my screen. Seen only digitizers on eBay and one video of a guy changing a whole unit. I.E front frame / digi / LCD.
Has anyone changed there's and if so how did they do it?
Digitizer only or the whole unit?
Only my digi is cracked but some help would be very nice as to choose the right part I need. Thanks
I guess the Desire 610 is manufactured like the others meaning :
The LCD screen is glued to the digitizer.
The Digitizer and the back of the LCD are both glued to the chassis.
And it sticks damn hard...
There are very poor chances that you will be able to separate the LCD from the digitizer without cracking the LCD which is very fragile.
Even if you manage to do it there are again big chances that you will experience problems with the digitizer afterwards (lag, no reaction, disalignment, dust in between).
Don't waste your time, buy a complete set (LCD + digitizer) factory assembled (meaning glued already).
That's what I always do.
