AOSP KitKat Coming Soon - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

AOSP KitKat Will Come To XZU Soon
Hope DoomLord Will Get An Z Ultra Soon

Nice, can't wait!

It was easily ported from nexus 5 to 4.
I would settle for a straight aosp build without the extras!
Been hearing good things about 4.4.

Strange thread. The world comes to its end soon. When? I don't know.
Please post some kind of link where is stated that kitkat comes to our device because every one can shout anything.

KitKat can come to any device as long as someone is working on the kernel and proprietary files. We have Kali here so I'm guessing that's a good sign that it's coming.

Why are you not sure? I'm 100% sure that AOSP 4.4 will come to the Z Ultra. And a trusted developer has been quoted as saying he is working on it at the moment.

Could someone use the kernel and propriety drivers from the current builds of 4.3 or are new ones needed?

You are aware that we're talking about the AOSP version and NOT Sony's right? Devs are saying that they're working on Kit Kat as we speak. What's the problem? Should we get @krabappel2548 in here so he can confirm that he's working on it?

You don't get my point. All that info isn't in op. So making a thread and claiming something without further info is weird. That's my point.

I will have to respectfully disagree. There is an attachment on the original post which shows krabappel2548 saying he will bring it to the ultra. From that I pulled up the other links. So the OP didn't claim something without further info, or at least not that couldn't have been followed up if you had an interest in the topic.

Anytime there is a new source / base, then dev's need to start a tree from scratch. It takes a huge amount of time. So don't expect a release soon..

I just started a fully new device tree and running a first compile of 4.4 kitkat with the 4.3cm kernel.
Anyway I'm expecting some errors to pop up with caf and qcom.hardware maybe. I'll keep.you guys posted here and also in Z1 kitkat in.november thread
You can also check my site, important news will appear there too
I can't give any ETA since kitkat is brand new + we didn't had an AOSP device tree from 4.3 to start from. Just keep your fingers crossed and check XDA for updates

weird in this specific and common image of LuneOS http://puu.sh/bm4NI.jpg the oneplus one is clearly being used, however after searching the LuneOS wiki it does not mention the oneplus one being supported at all, i also looked around for perhaps a really early alpha download just to try it out i mean its being used in that every same picture so it should be somewhere right? but i cant find it anywhere.

Yes,, so what is your point, that my comment is unreasonable? Maybe I have misunderstood what you were trying to say?
I don't know, but this is what XDA says: Welcome to the OnePlus One development forum. This forum will allow you to find root methods, third party ROMs, kernels, and other mods for your OnePlus One.
So, I have found a ROM / OS / MOD for my OnePlus One. Most ROM threads are in the dev section, and contain this information. The isea of the forum being to share information. I believe my comment is reasonable and would benefit the community (comments about using this OS on a OnePlus).

[Q] is there any work out there to get 4.4.4 to work on AM2?

Just wondering if we can get CM11 or something else on here and if it will work?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
For CM11 you'd probably have to message their team and see I'd they can help us out. I'm sure the version of KK that's released for the Chinese version of this phone could be ported but it seems like nobody can or is interested in doing it. Sadly it just seems like there's no development for this thing at all

Personally I don't see us getting KK for this device. That would be ridiculous but if they can openly post on their website that other variations of the device are getting it but will not confirm we are then I'm thinking we wont. Hopefully some of the Devs who got these things at the event can port something for us from the Mate 7 or another variation of the Mate 2

That would be really dumb if all their other phones are getting updated except the one phone they sell here. I hope they recognize this.
That being said, I wonder why they just gave out 15 of these to developers. No other company would do that lol. Their Google Plus page even said "custom ROMs are right around the corner" or something like that. Maybe we'll get an official custom ROM, like the One Plus One with its custom CyanogenMod?
Of course I'm just speculating haha, only time will tell.

Doesn't matter to me. GOING IN, I figured from the past look at Huawei, they provided little to no updates to their devices.
So, going in, I knew it wasn't going to get KK. Don't really care! JB4.3 has been ROCK SOLID with no lockups, lags, problems
of any kind. Heck, I don't even root it! It "just runs". I don't want to screw around with unstable builds, don't have time as this is
my bread & butter for work.

There were no leaks for any other versions than Korean, so I don't think that anybody but LG could have it.

Sorry to ruin the hopes but there was actually posted a korean version of Lollipop on G3 forum too before they got international version. They did not do much with the korean version though.
Could be fun with a port, but who knows maybe it doesn't even have English - not to mention possible bugs. We'll get it officially from LG anyway.

my korean isn't fluent but what i got out of a review on the forums of a site called develoid (sorry this is my first post so i can't share links) was that it's still pretty buggy. korean users have flashed it to see it but also flashed back to kit kat or custom roms because of its lacking performance.
Guys it would be nice to port it also as a preview but it will be buggy and high risky. Most devs will only start if 5.x kernel sourcecode will be released but android L will be also released already for the d802. Android L will be released anyway in Q1 probably so its worth waiting cause lollipop is still having a lot of bugs which is in my opinion not good for daily usage .
So short and powerfull just wait people for the official LG lollipop release.
I dont want to be a partypooper or what but please also to other users who are making new threads for LG lollipop. I think that a mod must clean general a bit again because of all those duplocate threads and questions which dont even belong in this section
Seems like Vandietout released some kdz's too

hi,
I have a quick question - has LG built the Camera2 API inside the ROM ? The way to test it is to use L Camera from https://github.com/PkmX/lcamera/releases .
This will be huge for the G2, since this will effectively give us the same quality of camera on AOSP/CM. Can you please try it and let me know.

No custom ROMs?

I've had an honor 7 for about a month now and i can't seem to find an actual custom ROM. Just "EMUI" based custom ROMs which is just the original ROM, but modded
Also possible to unlock bootloader so why aren't there any custom roms?

I think the main reason is that it's been very hard for devs to compile cm or aosp for the Kirin SOC. That coupled with issues with the kernel source code such as it being very different to other android sources have made it a real challenge for devs to do.
Not that it's impossible though, this will just take a long time with lots of effort.
