Backplate replacing covers - Galaxy Note 3 Accessories

I'm starting this thread because I'm interested in finding covers and cases that attach to the phone as a replacement for the backplate, thus keeping it as trim as possible. The only one I've heard of is Samsung's own original covers, but I'm hoping there'll be others.

Sorry for being the third thread on this topic. I did a search, but didn't find anything specific on backplate replacemnt cases. Did find various on wallet and flip cases. Even if Samsung is taking forever, hopefully other manufacturers will jump in. But perhaps the backcover is patented?

I've been spending ages looking for the same thing. Definitely not a patent issue. There are literally hundreds of pages of various Note 3 covers on Amazon, many of which are replacement battery doors. Problem for me is that most are window cases claiming to be "S-View", none of which actually work with the s-view functionality. If I can't get a working S-View then I'd rather not have a window at all. I'm not sure about the official Samsung cover because it looks like it makes the phone much bigger by thickening the back to extend over the camera, and I want it slim as possible.
Best options I've seen so far look to be these:
http://www.amazon.com/Practical-COV...=1384427137&sr=8-53&keywords=n9000+flip+cover
There's also this:
http://www.amazon.com/Practical-COV...84428841&sr=1-200&keywords=n9000+battery+flip
http://www.amazon.com/Black-Cover-B...1384427417&sr=8-278&keywords=n9000+flip+cover
Final interesting one is this, which is the first 3rd party case I've seen which claims to properly support S-View. Looks pretty much identical to the Samsung case though:
http://www.amazon.com/YESOO-Leather...F8&qid=1384429365&sr=8-1&keywords=n9000+yesoo
Please let me know if you turn up anything else interesting, as it sounds like we both want the same type........

Thanks for all of your suggestions.
S-View support in the case would certainly be nice, but it is not a top priority. My priorities are:
1) Back cover (battery cover) replacement, not an outer attachement.
2) Some pockets for cards and bills, actually the outer front cover could come with a foldout for more cards and bills.
3) S-View support
I have an original Note and the case has two slits for cards and a long slit for bills, but it also comes with an outer attachement cradle, and that is a little too much bulk to be really comfortable. Since the Note 3 is thinner it would be real nice to utilize that for a better case experience this time around. Hence, I'm not that particular about price, although I believe the original Samsung S-View cover is waay overpriced, I have ordered one just to establish a base line for what is available out there.
I have started to encounter vendors that lets me use the NFC for payment, but lets face it, this will take at least a decade to take hold. In the meantime I still need to carry around some credit cards and bills. Some day I can hopefully start my car and open my doors with my Note 6.

I ordered and received a S-View case. The backplate is removed to attach the new case, it has two connectors that will allow you to use the S-View feature and charge it with wireless Qi chargers. There are no pockets for cards or bills, but the S-View window is a usable feature, it has two windows, swipe from right to left, the first shows time, date, weather and in my case a step counter, the other is for music, action memo and camera. The material is a leather like plastic that feels sturdy enough to withstand a smaller drop (not planning on testing that) and an added benefit is that the Note will fit in Samsung's multimedia dock with the covert attached.
Hopefully, third party vendors will come out with even more usable covers over time.

MiniSuit Leather Portfolio (for tablet and dock) - Review

I received my MiniSuit Portfolio on Saturday.. It is a very nice case, very well made. Yes - it adds bulk but if you can't tell that when you ordered it then you didn't look at the pictures . It's a tri fold so of course it will add bulk, plus the leather. It is obviously very functional, and the side that holds a business card can probably hold a few pieces of paper but otherwise too much or it will just get entirely too fat..
OK, so the obvious things aside..... Here come the constructive criticisms. I'm a little concerned with the fit. The leather covers the bezel so when you dock it, it is really, really really tight.. I wonder if it puts "stress" on the fit of the dock and tablet.. The part that holds the dock snaps on.. It has little strap on the top corners, and when you add those it added and even tighter fit.. If you leave them off, and the dock slides down quite a bit when you are using it.
After only one day's use, the parts of the leather that go between the tablets and dock are pretty scuffed up.
Since the dock snaps off, I thought I'd be able to use the case for just the tablets if I didn't have the dock. Well I CAN, but the magnetic closer is part of the tri-fold that is on the dock portion, and so unless you have that part (even if it's empty), then the cover is very "flappy" (which is OK, so just fyi).
In all fairness, I am calling MiniSuit tomorrow. I need to get ask about another part of my order anyway (a different case, different purpose). This portfolio case is also ever so slightly "off" center enough that the camera is partially covered up (yes I've tried moving it several times but it still settles into the same place) I don't think that is normal, my friend's case is aligned perfectly.. So maybe this one is just a little warped overall.
I'm definitely giving MiniSuit benefit of doubt here, I am sure they will replace this one anyway since he camera hole is off center. Perhaps they can explain the width of the the leather between the tablets and dock. It's late and I can't remember ever seeing a "spec" for that. All I know is that it is really small.
I've include some insanely detailed pictures for reference if anyone would like to see what I'm talking about
EDIT:.. Pics will have to come another time, gallery not cooperating

I'm looking forward to the pics! Thanks!
I just installed one of these covers on my wife's Prime and the camera on the rear is way off to one side also. And there are a few blems and over glues on the cover. I am not happy with this product. Let us know what you find out. I bought mine through Amazon so I am not sure what is my next step.........Thanks......
Ok, I talked to them and they were really great. They are sending me a replacement (and a prepaid label to return the one I have). They offered me a choice of replace or partial refund but I want to try a replacement. I told them I had photos of the camera port and the way the pictures came out and they very nicely asked if I wouldn't mind sending those in and thanked me in email for doing so.
I didn't not ask them about the leather being a bit thick (for my liking) or it getting scuffed already. I've read the reviews on Amazon and I don't really see anyone else mentioning this or thinking it's a problem. I'm hoping some folks on here get theirs in so we can see if there is a "space" difference between the og and Prime and maybe that is why it's not mentioned?
I think that is going to have to be a judgement call on my part. Dangit - if they had just made the bottom part hold the tablet with nice straps it would be fine, but the fact that it scuffed leather after one day ... seems to me like it is too tight. On the other hand......my friend looked at it, said he thought it looked fine and that it was leather - it would "break in" and flex. If I thought I would ALWAYS have the dock with it, I might be tempted to cut the dang leather off the bottom, but you can't really do that or the tablet will fall out with the dock gone. If I keep it, I might end up rigging it after a while anyway
Like I said - it's a nice case, very functional, it does add bulk, but anything we get that carries both will do that.
Ok...pictures. I used a toothpick for reference, you all have one of those and can tell for yourselves how far on will go in the small space between tablet and dock
Yeah, the case didn't fit my tablet and dock perfectly either. But their customer support is nothing short of amazing. I just emailed them, showed them a photo of the problem and they are sending me a replacement (they shipped it the same day I contact them). Should be getting it soon. Best thing yet is they don't even need me to return my defective unit.

Same here - they shipped it out and I have a tracking number the same day I called.
I didn't think they wanted the defective one back either, but in their email they wrote " A prepaid label will be included with your shipment for the defect". So.....I guess they want it back. Which is fine of course. I'm just not sure what they will do with it cuz I really don't think they are going to use it to make any changes or anything.
Well, I got my replacement. They did not end up sending a pre-paid return label so they don't want the defective one back apparently.
However the new one is worse than the first one as far as the camera port hole goes. It is obviously cut VERY wrong. So now both have been off very far towards the flash, covering parts of the camera lens. I realize i wont be using my camera very often, but I have noticed that it's rarely "planned" when I DO want to use the camera.
I also still have a big concern about the leather being so think between the dock and tablet. If everything else were perfect, I would likely rig it. I'd probably just cut it off. This would really only present a problem if you were to have the tablet without the dock because the tablet could slip out of the case with the having that section secured, but I'd just not use that case without the dock then (I have several other cases)
This is the perfect case for the combo, but it is flawed
Funny thing is - I received my other Minisuite case and LOVE it!! The ports and camera holes are perfect. It's the 360 degree rotating one (does not accommodate dock). I think, obviously, all these cases that look the same are made by some company in China, and then stamped by companies here. But for some reason the template they used for the nice leather keyboard/tablet combo is just not right.
Pretty much my experience, I do not believe they had an actual Prime in hand when they designed this case. Not pleased overall and waiting for better options.

ANy docks that work with case on the note?

I know that many of us here are looking for a desk type dock that actually will work if the Note has a thin case on it. Anyone know of any? I can't see having to take the case off and put it on every time i want to use the dock.
I just ordered this.

I'm liking the Momax so far. It's got a lip on the front, which I love, and the fit was ok. The phone is much more comfortable against my ear now, but I had to trim the inside of the case where it touches the power button. I think the international note had a little more inset on the power button, so this case was over compensating with a little bump there. Quick trim sorted it out.
Bringing this back on topic, I can say for a fact that this dock (http://www.ebay.ca/itm/220923137856?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649) which I bought prior to the Momax case, is not at all compatible. It is however a good fit without a case (not that that's any use to me now).
Curious about the doc that the OP is talking about. Definitely want to see more pics of docs with cases.
Just thought I should follow up on this now that I have the dock.
It fits great with the Momax case, and looks much better in person than I thought it would. Also the ebay seller was very good, they screwed up and sent me the wrong dock at first, but they caught the error, and shipped the right one within a day (and told me to keep the wrong dock when it got here, no charge).
I'll see if I can take a few pics in a bit.
Sorry to revive the thread, but could you put some pictures of the dock ?

I have one of these from Seidio, and it's GREAT. Small footprint, easy on, easy off. Works just fine with my mercury gel case.

S-view or wallet case?

I wasn't sure if this should go in the Q&A thread, as it's a question about accessories -
I just bought a Note 3 and have a $100 gift card to Best Buy - it seems like the only cases Best Buy has in Canada are either the S-View case or the regular wallet case.
I wanted to know if anybody can suggest one over the other?
Thanks!

Honestly, I would order something online that has a little more protection. I don't know much about the wallet case but when I bought my Note 3 I got the S-view case with it because it was basically the only thing Verizon had at the time. It's not bad, the window is much bigger than the S4 variant. I liked being able to see my notifications without opening the cover and being able to answer and ignore calls is also a cool feature. As soon as Otterboxs became available I ordered one and gave the S-view to my girlfriend. I don't feel like the S-view would do much of anything if you dropped your phone, only thing the cover is decent for is helping prevent your screen from getting scratched. I payed retail price for my device so personally I want a case that is going to keep it from being damaged.
My answer: go for the Flip Wallet!
I bought an S-View case a few days ago with Amazon and I sent it back today. Here is my experience:
+ the S-View looks great and feels great in the hands! The material quality is great and (I believe) cannote yet be found elsewere in the market
+ you see the caller and can take pictures without opening the flip
+ the flip can be torn 360 degrees when lying on a table
- the little window gets easily dirty from touches, and does not have an oleophobic layer. I found myself lots of times cleaning the window front, back, and my Note 3 screen... boring!
- if you sit close to other people and hold the flip at 90 degrees (half open), it is quite annoying that they can see your screen through the window ...
-when you receive a notification other than a call, the screen will keep off, and the notification led cannot be seen.
Why have I ordered the Flip Wallet Case:
1. gives a premium look & feel to this expensive device!
2. allows a bit of privacy when commuting or during meetings at work
3. it is much easier to make a hole for the status led to be visible (in the S-View you have to drill through a delicate plastic layer)
4. I really like how it stays in my hand, and I don't have to take care where I do put my fingers on it
OK, can't take pictures with the flip closed... who cares.
OK, don't see the caller while calling... I will miss this a bit
Cheers,
K

If you don't carry a spare battery around then go for the S View.
If your like me that never charges my phone but just changes battery everytime one is almost depleted then go for the Wallet. Because I open the back cover of my note 3 at least once a day to change batteries. And it's cheaper to buy a back case when it gets damaged due to consistent opening and closing.
S-View has one more weird problem - my phone constantly unlocks by itself in the pocket and start making photos. Sometimes I get over 200 black photos in my Cover Camera album after the day. No way to turn it off

So you're suggesting that the product, sview case or stock battery door cover, will eventually fail? Coming from a Note 2 where I employed the same approach of never charging, just replacing batties, I think the battery door held up pretty well. Actually I ended up replacing the plastic silver frame before the battery door cover.
On a side note, for all the flak you hear in the media about the plastics used by Samsung on their products they hold up very well, the problem is when they start trying to paint them instead of actually dyeing the plastics.
Sent from my GT-N8013 using Tapatalk
That's how they get you to keep upgrading. Though I think the Note 3 is less prone to scratching (silver bezel) in comparison to the Note 2
I have the flip wallet and it does look cool. However trying to answer a call in a hurry is a total pain. I've now bought an Otterbox Commuter and couldn't be happier.

i have a wallet case and its nice to consolidate the wallet and cell phone in one package. I just started using an s case knock off and if it worked right im sure I would like it more.
I like my S-View case, i've had one since my S4 and it was the first thing I bought when I got my Note 3. I will agree with most of the cons that have been listed, my S-View screen collects lint and such because it has a static charge. The privacy thing doesn't bug me because if I didn't have it my phone would be even more visible and easily seen. Honestly if you feel the wallet case is the better option because you'd like to condense it would be a great buy. I carry a Note 3 and an iPhone 5 (work phone) right now, I love my wallet case on my 5 because it keeps me from junking up a wallet. Either way you go, get what you think will be the best fit for you.
Good luck!

LG G3 OEM Slim Guard Case - My Review

I recently picked up a LG G3 Slim Guard case and I wanted to share my thoughts and a few photos with my fellow XDA members, as I honestly believe this is one of, if not THE best case I have ever owned.
Let me start by saying that I have a very love/hate relationship when it comes to cases on my devices. While I am always striving to keep my phone in pristine condition, making some form of protection a near-necessity, nothing bothers me more than having to cover up the natural look of a beautifully engineered device. This is especially true with my G3 given that it is arguably LG's first smartphone to truly show the company's design language coming into its own. It wasn't until I stumbled upon the OEM Slim Guard case where I felt I was truly getting both added protection without sacrificing aesthetics.
A truly ingenious design choice is shown in the fact that this case forgoes the original back cover and instead both replaces and integrates a replacement back in the case itself. This keeps the added bulk to an extreme minimum and also maintains the original look and lines of the G3. Wisely, instead of a straight swap in exact dimensions, the substitute rear protrudes out ever so slightly to provide a bit of elevation from the camera lens. The material has also been changed to a slightly textured plastic and while I sorely miss the surprisingly great look and feel of the stock faux-metal, I appreciate the added grip and complete fingerprint resistance that the switch provides.
Further upping the ante on protection, the case seamlessly wraps a slim but substantial-feeling bumper of TPU around the edges of the device. While this style of case is nothing new, the integrated backplate design allows the G3 to maintain it's original contours and in-hand feel. Seriously, I can't stress enough how immensely better this feels compared to other TPU or hybrid case options. The bumper lines up perfectly with the edges of the screen and while I personally may have prefered a more pronounced "lip" that protrudes ever so slightly further to protect the gorgeous LCD, the minimal cutout should better accommodate a glass screen protector. As some users will attest to, a lot of other cases don't play too nicely with naturally thicker glass protectors and can cause fit issues or bubbling to occur. I recently just ordered a glass version for this exact reason and I'm assuming (and hoping) that they will complement each other very well, both with protection and looks.
LG currently does not sell the Slim Guard in the US which ultimately is the source of some of the negative aspects of this case. Because you will have to import this directly from Korea, as you can imagine it will not come cheap and interested parties should plan on spending over 50 dollars with shipping costs. Also, because it is designed for the Korean spec model, the case accommodates a non-existent TV antenna which will leave a small gap in the rear corner. Admittedly, this is a minor annoyance but undeniably present and noticeable as it breaks the otherwise clean lines. And finally, although the case advertises the addition of hardware for wireless charging, the spacing between the connectors don't seem to line up with my T-Mobile model. Just to be sure, I tried testing the functionality with my Nexus charging pad and unfortunately the wireless charging was unsuccessful. I unfortunately can’t attest to other brands of wireless charging pads because this is the only one I have access to but these initial results are obviously disconcerting. This incompatibility was probably my biggest letdown, as I was hoping to regain use of my wireless charging base since the American carriers strangely opted to exclude this feature.
In spite of these downsides, I still firmly believe that this is the best case I have ever used for any device. Clearly this is a matter of personal opinion, as you may value protection or slimness above a balance of both and the cost of admission alone may be enough to turn away many buyers. However, for anyone looking for some protection and great aesthetics with oem-quality finishing / color matching, I highly recommend splurging on this accessory.
Great review. Very well worded and thought out. I do like the overall design of the case and the idea that it replaces the back cover. I'll be living with my TPU case until these because readily available int he U.S. without the antenna cutout. (Assuming that happens)
I agree...EXCELLENT review! I am impatiently waiting for this US version case. This sounds like the perfect case for my preferences. Something extremely slim with better grip than naked along with not messing with the lines of the phone. :good::good::good:
Now if LG would just get the accessories rolling...I also need another battery and external charger.
I see 4 pins on it. Is wireless charging supported, then?

Looks like this case is for the Korean market. The pins are slightly different for the US phone so the wireless charging would not work on a US phone. Check out this ebay link to see the differences in pin placement:

Really hope they release a US version without the antenna cut out, that supports QI charging. And also in shine gold. That would be perfect.
I don't understand why case makers don't take this cue from LG make replacement back covers that also act as a protective case. I'm hoping this gets released stateside. I have a feeling it won't, though, because LG doesn't have the best product support history from my experience. I was looking to get either this or the Slim Hard case. At this point, I just need anything to cover the back because this is the most ridiculously slippery phone I've ever had.

100% agree. Integrating the back cover into the case should be a standard
Also, small update to my review. I mentioned that I ordered a glass screen protector assuming the fit would be perfect with the Slim Guard. I ordered a 0.3mm "Mobile Pioneer" brand screen protector from Amazon and it looks great. Fits perfectly flush with the edges and looks great to boot

Hey elterible,
Can you take a pic of the corner with the Korean antenna hole? No big deal if you can't. Just curious what it looks like since the back is removed. I am thinking it might not look too bad with just the cutout as long as it still showed finished section below. What do you think so far? Still holding up well? I really don't need wireless charging. Thanks!
Here you go. Although annoying, I will admit the cutout hugs the lines of the phone perfectly. This includes the ridges, which is nice because it doesn't leave any gaps for dust to get in

Thank you! I may give it a little longer to see if they make a US version. This doesn't look bad but it costs $48. If it were the US version I would pay quickly.

No problem.
Even now I will admit that the price tag is tough to swallow. Especially considering that, as nice as this is, it is still just a freakin case at the end of the day. However, I still stand with my decision to take the splurge. Let us know if you do the same!
Just to entice you a little more, here's one more pic with my glass screen protector installed. It looks and feels amazing! [emoji1]

I am trying my best not to purchase the Korean version yet to see if the US version will release soon. :fingers-crossed: It looks exactly like what I want! Thanks for the pics!
This is definitely the case I want. I am going to give it some time and see if LG comes out with a US version. For the time being, I got the Circle case and it has the same finish on the back and I love it. These are very high quality cases and just do so well to keep the phone's original shape and form factor.

Mobilefun.com has the slim guard case available for preorder but the description doesn't mention wireless charging.
I think an enterprising individual could modify the Korean variant to work with the US model phone by making an adapter that moves the contacts out wider. Another option, although more expensive, would be to try to remove the circuitry from the Verizon Qi quick circle case and put it into the slim guard case. I don't know how easy that would be to do but it looks like they are really just put in there with adhesive.
This is THE case. Please let this come out for the US (especially Verizon)!

Don't hesitate to pay top dollar for the LG OEM cases. These cases are much much better quality than any other cases I have seen. I was hesitant with the Circle case and I paid the full $59. After a few days, I wouldn't think twice about doing it again.

Yeah, I don't mind paying $50 for this case. I just want to give it a little longer to see if they will release the US version. Hopefully it will happen soon.

Rick Smart UI Transparent Flip Case Cover

Hello All,
I have seen lately a 'new' type of case from Rock Smart UI flip cover case for our Note 3.
The case features a transparent front cover with some kind of s-view, judging from the photos.
I made a search and did not see anyone talk about this case specifically for Note 3.
Has anyone purchased this case ? I wanted to have an idea whether the smart UI it is advertising is true or not, and the overall user experience.
Look no further, here follows the link to the product: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rock-Smart-...Cell_Phone_PDA_Cases&var=&hash=item418571721b
Thank you guys for your input.
Nitish
PS: Please read ROCK Smart UI in thread title
I'm extremely interested in this case and will patiently await first-hand accounts and reviews!

I have purchased the case a couple of days back, and I am waiting delivery. Will take some time (normally at least 2-3 weeks) to be delivered from where I host (Mauritius).
Thought maybe someone else may have been through it and willing to share the experience.
I'm also intrigued and will be purchasing it, since it's pretty inexpensive. This reminds me of a classier HTC M8 Flip cover case.

How is the Rock Smart UI case implementation on HTC M8 ? Does it work as they claim it does for note 3 ?
Not sure Its made for the M8, it simply reminds me of the flip case that you get with it.
I have yet to receive this case as its shipped from China. I will let you know when I get it though

I dunno, looks pretty gimmicky to me.
I gotta say if there's anyone interested in this but has never used the S-View case.... its more of a burden.
I like my setup of a tempered glass protector with case more than S-View, since S-View makes the experience a whole lot slower and the extra flaps gets in the way and add extra unnecessary bulk to the unit.
But if S-View is a must, check out this guy:

Those look... potentially sweet! I followed a few links from the one posted, and came across this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/301288759905 which I ordered. I decided to go for that one mainly because in the pics in the actual ad (although not in the ones at the top), it appears to have built-in port covers (micro usb 3 & headphone), which is huge and should be included in many more cases. I'm currently using a super cheap, clear TPU case from ebay that I picked up due to it having that same feature. I know from experience how easily the micro usb ports can get f-ed up (not to mention the cables, my entire fairly large collection of genuine OEM cables is completely useless; I had never seen the correct voltage on my Note 8 until a started using one of the two "premium" cables that I ordered from monoprice for less than $10).
Anyways, I primarily use wireless charging with my N3, but sometimes juice up very quickly via (non OEM) micro usb 3 cable during the day. In my situation, using a case with built in port covers (vs. highly lose-able unattached micro usb 2 port covers, which are pretty much the only alternative available and inferior across the board) works extremely well for my use-case. I like to keep the port covered / protected since I don't need it for wifi charging and I don't want to end up with some problem with the port so that I can't mount it in ODIN for ex., but it's not at all inconvenient for charging via cable. Just flip the cover back (which involves sort of detaching it, because the cover part of the small flap that covers the port does insert into the port which means that it is actually a legit protective port cover, and actually superior to the built-in cover on the S5 which afaik just covers the port rather than inserting into the port at all, and breaks of pretty easily rendering to completely useless. Before finding this particular tpu skin, which I sometimes attach into a wallet case via velcro (usually whenever I go out so that I have my essential cards and phone without making sure that I had put multiple different items in my pocket... I'd order 25 packs of the micro usb 2 covers, eventually lose every one of them and order a new pack. Using this case instead has been infinitely more convenient.
Back to your regularly-scheduled topic following that advertisement from the "Cases with attached port covers are crazy useful, and it seems weird that none of the bigger case companies include that super cheap / easy mod as pretty much standard", which exists for real, but consists of only one vocal member... Has anyone who ordered one of these received it yet? If so. thoughts? Also, all cases like this need an app to work, yes? Has anyone checked that out? Any negative impact (re: battery, etc.)? Oh yeah, regarding my assumption that this one does have port covers, which, ya know, I think has some sort of value, possibly is really only based on the pics inside the sellers ad. They also list it being "dustproof" but don't specifically mention the port covers and also they don't appear to be in the picture gallery at the top of the page, but it looks like those are the same pictures that a number of different similar cases from different sellers for the ones that have a option to choose the color (black, blue, gold), so really I'm just hoping that this case is what I expect, though it was cheap enough and otherwise interesting enough to potentially just check it out, but not really end up using it. Hopefully it'll turn out that my assumptions are correct, but currently ???. Actually, I probably should have asked the seller, and suppose I will now, but I still don't regret just throwing down the order so it'll come sooner rather than waiting /increasing the delay by waiting for them respond.
The deliver range is 9/19 - 10/10, so I post some feedback when it arrives.
i love this one
I purchased the case too, from ebay ... sadly I see the item has not been shipped upto now ...
sent the seller a message, haven't had any reply since a couple of days.
hope this is not a bump ! coz I really want to have the case ...
Anyone else has received his case for a review ?
They have a video here also:

Forgot to update re: the one I ordered... it doesn't have port covers, but as it turns out (because the checkout pages and PayPal linkage are not friends with some of my browser extensions) so first time I tried to check out it didn't work. I went back to a different page and signed into my eBay account and turned off a couple extensions. I saw that there was one item in my cart, so I figured that it was the case so just went and checked out, paying much more attention to whether it was working or not than what I was buying, which actually turned out to be a TPU case exactly like the one I have / explained with the port covers, except it's translucent grey as opposed to the transparent one that I ended up getting. So I "blew" a total of three American dollar bills (except not really, because now I can just cut the port covers off of the one I like less and possibly attach it to another case somehow) so then I went back and ordered the case that I meant to. I will say about that seller though, that he both shipped and answered my question super quickly after I messaged it.

Here's one that I actually just ordered http://www.ebay.com/itm/251471912476?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT (by accident, heh... I was try to order a different cheap case via "Buy it Now" but one of my Firefox extensions was preventing the whole PayPal linkage popup thing, so I just opened the eBay app on my tablet, saw that there was 1 item in my cart, so I assumed it was the case I was just trying to buy, and didn't notice until I had already checked out that the cost was only $3... guess I had put this case in my cart but decided to get the clear one that I have now instead, but this one was and is still active, looks reasonably solid and it cost freakin 3 bucks! It hasn't arrived yet, nor has the $10 "Rick Smart" case that I intended to order, but I'm actually glad that I accidentally ordered this one too... if I don't like it more than my current clear one, I can just snip the port covers off and glue them to my Seidio wallet case, which was my former favorite, but I just didn't like the fact that it provided no protection for the bottom or top side beyond the corners).
Anyway, I think I initially ordered the clear one over this one because it was shipped from the U.S. and I'd get it sooner vs this one from China. More good news: It's currently 5% off, lowering the price from $1.95 to $1.85!! If you don't mind waiting, I really doubt you could do better for less than $4! As far as shipping is concerned, it's a flat $1.99, I ordered it on 9/5, the seller shipper right away, and the estimated delivery is between 9/17 and 10/1 (I'm predicting closer to the former, since the seller seemed totally on top of it).
If you want one sooner though, there are several on eBay if you search for something like "Galaxy Note 3 case with port covers" or variation of that. You can also put "dustproof" or "waterproof" into your searches, but that increases the likelihood that a higher percentage of your results will be cases that FULLY cover the phone via mutli-layered cases with a cover for the top that usually has a built in termpered glass screen cover. Actually many of those look really nice, and I'd likely order one if I didn't already have a tempered glass screen protector attached. There are TONS of widely varying cases on eBay, if you just search for EXACTLY what you're looking for, there's a pretty good chance that your results will contain several options of exactly what you're looking for to choose from. If the pictures leave some doubt re: whether the case is exactly what you want, just msg the seller. If they don't answer by like, the next day, just cross that option off your list and pick a different one.
BTW, you bastard! Looking through ebay's selection of cases to write this post, It's pretty much a certainty that I'll come across one that I definitely don't need, but "is super pimped and clearly much better than ALL the other ones I already have... for only x $'s? Buy it NOW button!" Already have a few contenders...
