touchwiz closed titanium backup - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 General

i just rooted my verizon note 3 on the new mj7 update and got titanium back up, i was annoyed by the magazine when pressing the home button so i froze it using titanium back up, now since ive done this if i click the home button the phone freezes until a message says touchwiz has closed, i have unfroze and and results are normal no closing of touchwiz, so just a heads up for anyone or if anyone else is getting this just be warned about it it could be just as annoying as the magazine pop up

I froze magazine, no problems here. When I press the home button in touchwiz it doesn't do anything, and when I swipe up in touchwiz it just says in a toast notification "application not installed." @un4givn1

I have the same problem, when I'm freezing "my magazine" with Rom Toolbox and I can't find any solution other than unfreeze that app

You can just disable open with home button in the my magazine app

Stock browser - will it auto close?

Hi guys and girls.
I need to ask this. My gf love using stock browser to watch movie. Since stock browser doesn't have the close or exit button like what browsers have, once she press the home screen, will the stock browser still run at background and auto close when say we have escape it for about a few minutes?
I do not want to see the browser still running and my data goes away for free.
Can you advise me on this? Many thanks all!

I'm pretty sure the stock browser wont use any data when it is not foreground.
Once you hit the home icon it will still be running in the background but wont be using any data. The only thing it could effect is your battery.

Thanks guys!
That is good news indeed! Thank you for your clarification
Pressing home keeps it running for a while in the state it was in. If you keep pressing the back button on your phone you will eventually be back at your homescreen and resets the browser's state.
It will still run on the background i guess and bad thing it consumes more battery
If you are still worried about it you can always hold down the centre home button until "task administrator" appears.it shows all the tasks that are open.close it from there, its perfectly safe as thats what its made for.

Apex Launcher crashes

I'm having some trouble with my launcher of choice, Apex.
Every now and then it will crash, leaving me with a black screen. The screen will remain black and the phone unresponsive for around 10 seconds. Then I'm thrown back to my home screen.
I'm assuming that it's Apex crashing, but there is no error message or dialog box of any kind, so I can't be sure.
This often happens if I click the back button multiple times to get out of an app, or when I am using an app and then click my home button. It does this with many different apps.
Is there any way I can start troubleshooting this? Logs of some kind? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm using apex (pro) and it works fine, maybe you clicking back several times is just making the app FC or just brain-farting android.
I have the Pro version too. And yeah at first I thought it was me causing it, since the last Android phone I had was running Eclair and I thought that maybe ICS doesn't like back button mashing... But the black screen also happens if I background an app using the home key.
It's really a shame because I'm loving Apex.

Hmm well that's really weird. Do a backup in apex, then force stop, clear data, uninstall and then reinstall it. See if you still have the problem. Also, see if the "keep in memory" option is checked, this should prevent things like this, or it having to load again when coming back from another app.
I had the same issues with apex, couldn't figure out what exactly caused the problems...for that reason I'm on go launcher for now.

It seems like this has solved my problem! It was unchecked, so I checked it and now it seems fine! You the man!
DidnĀ“t solve it here, as said above, it is already checked. Maybe an update will solve these problems in near future, it is really sad that apex suffers here.
It appears I spoke too soon, Apex still crashes/freezes for me.
I also tried Nova Launcher and it does the same thing.
I keep very few apps backgrounded, and I have removed a lot of bloatware. My phone should be a lean, mean machine... I guess I just have to live with it, maybe in the future a custom ROM will solve it.
If you guys check your logcat logs, you'll see evidence of apex crashing. I already contacted the developers and they said it's a known issue but are still looking into it. For now I'm using go launcher.. not so smooth, but lots of features
Had the exact same issues, switching to Nova solved the problem for me.
Yup same problem, back on touchwiz for now.

YES! but its not that it takes time to GET me to the Home Screen, but the Home Screen itself takes time to load! (really long)

well that is a common problem in the leaked ones. i have that too when ever i multi task. rooting can help you.
Its because TW is kicked out if memory being a background app whilst another app is in use, if you go back to 4.1 you can use either JKay's framework or xposed app settings lock touchwiz home in memory (xposed may work on the leak I'm not 100% sure) however keep in mind this will affect multitasking a bit.

Google Now Long Press

For some reason long pressing the menu button on my s4 brings up my recent apps as opposed to Google now on my s4. I'm unrooted, completely stock. This feature used to work. Haven't had the kitkat update as I'm on Verizon. Anyone else have this problem?

That's the intended behaviour. It comes like that when stock.
I think Google Now should be swipe up from bottom of screen; not sure as I've never installed it.

So, your S4 behaves differently than your S4. That's weird.
Seriously, that's how it's supposed to work. Go into Google Now, settings/help, where it's explained. Long press home is on Google Play edition phones (swipe up is for Nexus phones).
Ok, but I have googled this all over the place. Other people on other forums say the same. Long Press menu brings up Google Now. Additionally, my phone used to do this until last week.

Have you tried a factory reset? Since you're not rooted, that should reset everything... but there's also the full-wipe MK2 Odin tar to really reset everything.

No, long press menu should bring it up. Looks like you might have to factory reset your phone OP. It doesn't even work on the homescreen?

LOL. Who is Google to contradict your expertise?
To open Google Now, follow the steps for your device:
Android 4.1+ devices: Touch the Google Search bar at the top of the screen. You may be able to swipe up from the bottom of the screen on certain devices.
Nexus devices: Swipe up from the bottom of any screen.
Nexus 5: Swipe to the leftmost Home screen.
Google Play edition devices: Touch & hold your phone's Home button.

Did you even read what you posted? That's for nexus and gpe devices. The Samsung S4 on stock Touchwiz is not either of those things.

Let me simply point out your lack of reading comprehension:

The S4 is an "Android 4.1+ device," and it works exactly as described.
But if you knew how to read, you could download the user manual for the phone, and discover how Samsung says it works:
Home: Press to display the Home screen, or Lock screen if the device is locked. Press and hold to display recent applications or launch Task Manager or Google Search.

...which again confirms that the OP's phone (and my own, which is running "rooted" stock) is working as both Google and Samsung describe.
But, maybe you like the taste of crow, since you've asked for a second serving.

Really whipping out the manual? Lol in the section you're referring to, it also doesn't mention that long pressing the back key toggles the multiwindow tab. It's not a complete guide to those functions.

"Close All" Button doesn't return to proper launcher

I have a Verizon Galaxy S4 on Lollipop, Specs:
SCH-1525
Android 5.0.1
Baseband Version 1545VRUGOC1
Rooted
I'm having a problem with the "Close All" button found in the recent apps (Hold down Home button). After I use it, it displays the Touchwiz launcher rather than Nova or Apex. I tried both to get it working. Since trying a few things: Cleared Cache Partition in Recovery, Cleared Cache of the Apps I thought would be conflicting (Touchwiz App and Home Settings App) I've had no success. Now, the "Close All" button blacks out my screen until I hit the home button, in which it goes to actual selected launcher. I've created a video to show what it is doing now:
Can't post video until I've posted more, SORRY!
I appreciate it you are able to help. I know this isn't a big thing, but it's enough to be annoying.
Thanks!
it is making a black screen because it closes the launcher. Since you are rooted you could reinstall the launcher as a system app which wont be closed by the Close All button

Okay, made Nova a system app, still same problem . Now it's going to my Touchwiz App Drawer, not even the home page.... It's really confusing me.. Now I'm determined.
I had another thought, what if it isn't an app or app killing, rather an error on the "app" that runs the multitasking window. I'm going to Google it right now, to see if I can find it and if I can clear it's cache.
Thoughts?
