iMagnet - Galaxy Note 3 Accessories

Recently I've been on the search for the perfect car mount. I came across this.. Does anyone have any experience with it? The thin magnet should slip into our back covers and not hinder NFC if placed in the right position. This is great for me because I'd like to go into car mode and open the music app when I mount my phone.
http://www.amazon.com/iMagnet-Magne...e=UTF8&qid=1351802153&sr=8-1&keywords=Imagnet

This looks great.

I own 3 love them I change my phone at least once a year I like big phones wife likes smaller phones. I do like to set them so the phone can touch dashboard but more for my own OCD than a need and the magnet is in the base just metal plate you put in the case. I use the bigger one they send with the 3m tape cleaned off.

I'm planning on buying one of these this weekend. I don't like the suction cup, or CD tray mount options, so I'm probably going to take it apart and use just the base magnet part with some 3M double sided tape.
If it works like I'm hoping, It will prob be the last mount I buy. It's been a pain to find aesthetically pleasing car mounts for phones with cases.
Only thing I have a little worry about, is some people in the reviews say their note 2 would start to slide off some times. Hoping it's not really an issue, and more to do with how they places the metal plates in their phones.

Warning do not use with wireless charging back it will overheat

Does it charge?
sent from my sm-9005.

Does not charge but holds my note 3 great.

I have one of these and I love it. My N2 did tend to slide off a lot though, but usually only when I had a thicker case on it. Nothing a second backplate wouldn't fix, I'm sure. I modded mine to fit on one of these and it sits quite nicely on my dash. I haven't tried it with my N3 yet because I lost all the little backplates it came with. Time to hit the hardware store, I guess.

I have this for my Note 3. It really depends on your car's suspension + case.
My car has very stiff suspension and is low so any type of road bump can shift my phone on the magnet. If I don't adjust the phone after a bit, the phone will fall off.
Now the cases:
Caselogy leather case = N3 will shift around but not fall unless I adjust
SupCase Unicorn Beetle = N3 will shift quite a bit and fall.
Spigen Slim Armor = N3 will fall. The case is too heavy for the iMagnet
Again, it really depends on the case you use + your suspension. The N3 w/o a case on the iMagnet is perfectly fine... but I personally wouldn't risk it in my car haha.

I use this:
http://www.amazon.com/Super-Magnet-Mount-Phone-Detector/dp/B001D2E88Y
It works great. I used it with my Note1 with an extended battery, and it held it fine, even with the extra weight. Yes, if I hit a bad bump in the road it would come off. But it had to be pretty bad bump.
I have not put the metal plate on my Note3 yet though. I am waiting to make sure which case I am going to stick with first.
Plus....It is cheaper. I actually got mine for $2 each from Harbor Freight Tools a few years ago. Bought a couple of them. They are out of them now though, but I have seen them at car washes for about $5.
Just another option in case you were looking for something a little simpler.
Also, just so everyone is aware: If you live in a hot climate, a magnet in your car will get weaker over time. Magnets lose their power from heat. It isn't a lot, but it does happen, and the longer the magnet stays in your hot car, the more power it will lose over time, especially with cheap magnets. I am able to tell the difference between my old dash mount magnet, and the new one out of the box that has been stored in the house. Magnets do come in different temp grades. I'm sure that these phone mounts aren't using a high quality/temp magnet...would become cost prohibitive to their bottom line.
http://www.kjmagnetics.com/blog.asp?p=temperature-and-neodymium-magnets
Hope that helps someone.

I use an iOauto mount along with a vehicle specific proclip mount. Very satisfied with it.
http://iomounts.proclipusa.com/index.php/ioauto-pro.html

Do you guys know if the magnets will still work If you place an NFC tag on the mount?

I do hope the disc shape that's put in the phone case is actually a piece of magnetic material (steel, for example) and the magnet is on the base. This will expose the phone to far less magnetic flux than the other way!

I use the iMagnet with my N3 and it works great! The large metal plate fits underneath the battery cover and stays in place with a little adhesive.
The N3 holds much better than the N2 since it's lighter and the back cover is textured.
Highly recommended!

That is correct. There is no risk to the phone. Works like a champ.

I have 2 rectangular plates underneath my Diztronic TPU case. Hold great to the mount. NFC transfer between phones worked without any issues. Spen works perfectly as well. Love this mount. So easy to use.

Same, just got it and placed both of the rectangular ones underneath my Spigen Bounce and Caseology Matte Tpu. Both work great! I put the stand right on top of my moveable steering panel behind the steering wheel because every other part of my Infiniti FX35 is like a leather finish and won't hold.
Here's a picture of the plastic mount area behind the steering wheel. Actually really convenient now so I can touch the screen easier and navigate without it blocking my view.

My only issue with this is with a case on, spigen neo hybrid, it didn't hold well.

Yea, I'm worried about it with my spigen slim armor as well. Wondering if I may be able to alter it somehow to make it work better.

Solo Case - works well

Found this case at Staples for $24. It is made for the IPad or other e-Readers and has two different size elastic straps so it fits the G-tab well with a little extra room. I use the extra space for headphone storage. The case also zips close which is nice.
It is the Solo iPad/e-Reader Jacket, Classic Collection Style# CLA132-4/5
I had the same one and liked it at first. After a couple of days it will loosen a bit but it worked ok until I ordered the one did the zt180. Now I'm just waiting for a real gtab case.

I picked the case up from Staples yesterday and I'm of the same opinion so it's going back today. I hope to get the one that apx_ was trying to get together in the closed thread. Maybe we can pick that discussion up over on tegratab.com?
got the same case at staples $24. Works OK but definitely not completely secure.
I was thinking about throwing some velcro on the back of the tab and sewing some into the case OR sewing in some more elastic in...AND somehow add a kick stand or maybe another piece of elastic so the case will stay in a tent shape
I cut a piece 1\16" inch flat board template the size of an Ipad and attached the Gtablet to it with Velcro and put it in case. GTablet is secure, centered and most importantly does not move.
Elastic bands being loose no longer an issue since the 2 Velcro strips do most of the the work of keeping Gtablet in place.
With this mod keeping case. I got the two tone grey with blue pleather.
Yup. Nice case. I did a review of it a few weeks ago here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=886759
They had that color also, but I opted for the brown professional look. Nice find.

I did the same with mine. I had a hard time getting it to fit right, especially keeping the corners in the pocket. I also took it a step further by cutting out the card on the outside of the case. That little pocket is perfect for a Mi-Fi...

I bought that same case a couple weeks ago. What I did to make it work better is cut a piece of heavy duty cardboard to fit the dimensions of the case, then glued a thin layer of foam to the back. Then I put a really think piece of foam at the bottom to fill in the extra space and glued a piece of elastic along the bottom to hold the Gtab. Holds the tablet very well, and the thick foam makes a nice wrist rest when I'm using the on screen keyboard. Turned out rather well.

Sure, I'll snap some pix and put them up as soon as i get home.

FUSE quick review - inexpensive gtab case

Just received the $33 FUSE case [http://electroniccrap.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=5_9&products_id=37] from electronicCrap. It is quite a nice case. I really like the finish on both the outer and inner.
The inside is a stiffer type of velvet or something. Not exactly rough, but not as smooth as microfiber for example.
The exterior is very sharp, and business meeting ready. It is a soft suede-like material and is a nice shade of gray. One big advantage of this material is a slightly higher friction grip on surfaces than leather or faux-leather. If I try to slide the tablet in the case on a smooth surface, it is quite hard. I imagine you could set the case on a dashboard and it would rarely slide.
The tablet is VERY secure in the case, and can be made even more secure with a bit of velcro or some other material to fully secure the closing flap. However, with only friction holding the flap, the tablet won't fall out even if I hold the whole thing by the folding cover and shake it.
The case functions well as a stand, sitting comfortably at all three angles on my lap bot sitting and lying in bed. The cutouts for ports are all perfectly sized. The dock port is accessible for something like the HDMI cable. I don't have a dock, so I am not sure if that would fit. The fabric over the microsd and usb slot is put together a little funny. The bottom edge (somewhat visible in this picture from electronicCrap: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10015338/Cases/hy3.JPG, it is the edge below the microSD cover) sort of tucks in where it should not, and the part that tucks isn't really necessary. This is a really minor thing that doesn't affect the function, just the form a bit. Seems like instead of an oval cut-out of one large connection between front and back panel it should be just two narrow strips.
The comment Steve makes about the magnets on his site is very true. They are a little on the weak side to close the case, but it doesn't bother me at all.
I ordered my Fuse case from electroniccrap.com last Friday and received it three days later. After three months of using my GTab "naked", I have to say it is a much more pleasant experience using it in the Fuse folio case. As ramerco mentions, the case feels well made. My only complaint is that there is no cutout for the charge status LED on the front of the GTab near the charging port. Otherwise, I would not hesitate to recommend this case.
It's a good case for Gtablet.
I have the P3, and I love it as well. Is the only difference a matter of the P3 blocking the left speaker and the flap on top?
If yes, the P3 is a few bucks cheaper and I highly recommend that too.
i think the p3 cutout for the mini usb cover is not lined up properly. i don't know though, i only have the fuse...

The P3 is a synthetic leather PU style case that has a "slicker" feel to it.
The Fuse is almost like a suede feel. They are both great cases. I flip back and forth between both of them to fit my mood
And yes, there is a little bit of an overlap of one of the speakers, but it doesn't affect the functionality that much. It still pumps out descent sound!
I ordered the FUSE case as well and it's great. It's a great bargain. I highly recommend it.

FUSE - great case for those without a dock.
I read through a dozen or more threads here looking for info on all of the cases that were compatible with the G tablet. The only noteworthy negative aspect of the FUSE case that I could gleen from the experiences of others was the fact that it did not allow the tablet to dock while inside the case - for that you'd need the CLIP I believe. I didn't see any reason to bother with a dock, so I went with the FUSE (from electroniccrap).
Six months later, I'm still happy with my purchase. The material has held up exceptionally well (my 2-year-old got a hold of the case once and didn't manage to leave any visible blemishes or marks, despite his persistence) and I still like the feel of it. The faux-sued or whatever it is offers just the right amount of texture/friction to hold the tablet 1-handed without fear of it slipping out of my grip.
So, I suppose I should say thank you to all of the posters here who shared their experiences with the various cases - much obliged, everyone.

How do you carry your Note 3?

Not a discussion about cases or anything, just wondering how everyone carries their Note 3 since it's such a bigger phone. Coming from the S4 I find the added wight and size almost too big for my pockets. During the week I have to use a belt clip holster as I'm a field tech for copiers and find it too large for my slacks. Feels funny to have such a large phone on belt clip but I have no choice. The S4 fit nicely, with no case, in my slacks front pockets.

I have the Zerolemon 10k battery & case with holster and it fits in my front pocket with no issue. I will admit when sitting down it is a little uncomfortable but standing up is no issue. When sitting down I usually rotate the clip 90° and clip it to my pocket.

Love that case also, nice and secure on the belt clip. But how do you get the case off the holster with one hand? Dose that top clip loosen up a bit after time? One reason I like the Seidio holsters. Currently using the Spigen bounce case and the Seidio holster for the Dilex case, which I also have also but the rubber is too soft.
Still working on the one hand release, get it about every 3rd time.

Honestly, I was an HTC fanatic and coming from the EVO 4G LTE to the Note 3 I must say wow!
The Note3 is big, but it feels secure unlike the EVO. The screen hasn't gotten Lil swirly marks like HTC's "gorilla glass". That's with using the Spen just begging to scratch the screen. I've had no trade embargo negative features from pending lawsuits. Also, no dead pixels or Google wallet breaking from factory resets. 3gb of RAM! This is multitasking with no custom tweaks enabled after months of tedious work.
Sorry about the rant. I wanted to see if this phone could hold up to a week or so of no case. I haven't dropped it yet, but despite being in pockets and etc. there are no screen scratches or blemishes of any kind. HTC pushes build quality yet this phone is so much better.
Anyways, I spent too much to get a case atm. Debating on otterbox but naked for now. Thanks for maybe reading my first post in a long while. U get thirsty out there in the desert looking for old jewels.

I've been thinking about getting the Kraken too. I particularly like that they have the window mount that just snaps onto the back and then onto the ball of the window mount. Perfect for in the car either running Nav, or streaming music..etc.
I ordered the i-Blason case from Amazon for my Note 3. It's silicone & a hard shell both at once. Soft silicone wrapped around the phone while the hard outer shell grips around the back like the facehugger from Aliens...from all sides.
It comes with a swivel clip belt holster that faces the screen so only the back is exposed to the world, but since the silicone is very soft & flexible, I don't use it because it's a pain to insert & remove in a hurry when the phone is ringing. I suppose it'd be all right if I had a bluetooth headset. But...no matter!
I carry it in my breast pocket in my jacket, currently. But when it gets warmer, I suppose I'll buy a bluetooth headset & put it in it's belt holster & clip that big 'ol monster to my waist.

Being I'm on the road all day, I use it everyday! The window mount is extremely well built too! Only thing that is annoying is you have to unclip the kickstand to use the window mount...but that's it. Otterbox drove me crazy with the rubber always stretching and deforming. They will replace it, but just drove me nuts. The Kraken, the rubber jacket is inside the case. Plus unlike the Otterbox, I really think I could drop my phone off a building and it would still be 100%. SOLID freaking case! It's worth every penny.
I use the Spigen Neo Hybrid case. It fits comfortably in my front suit jacket pocket.
Owned my N3 for a week and I only have it in my pocket which may change upon getting the zerolemon 10k mAh battery and I might use the clip with it. Probably not, but maybe lol. Fits perfectly into my pocket w/ no excess popping out.

Question for the case "collectors"

For those that have 4 or more cases, what's your favorite? Believe it or not, one of my favs cost me nothing. I had ordered a case off ebay and received the wrong color. No biggie, except I should get what I ordered. I filed a case about it, and got refunded and didn't have to return the case I got.
Anyway, it is a "cheap" chinese case that looks awesome (to me) and has decent protection. As many cases as I have, it's funny that the free one is my fav. Btw, here it is: http://www.ebay.com/itm/18172353505...49&var=480675456481&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
Awesome gripability, and decent protection. Plus I dig how it looks. Yours?
For me I'd have to say the spigen ultra hybrid. Yeah it is hard to not know what buttons are which but you get used to it. I had ringke but that is a little more flimsy but also good. Port covers were kinda annoying.

Definitely my 2 favorite. (I like making my own back covers and the Ringke and Spigen let me use the same ones in either one.)
Here's my two cents...
Port covers: I'm on the fence with this one. I like the fact they are protected. Yay. I use mainly my wireless charger so I don't care as much about the USB one. I DO, however, play music through my aux jack in my car whenever I'm driving and it does get annoying.
Verdict: No port covers. If you use your headphone jack often, like I do, and if you use a Meenova Dash, like I do, the port covers are annoying.
Buttons: Ringke has the buttons down for sure. The Spigen, and Obliq, not so much.. Actually, it might as well be flush because I don't know where the hell they are regardless.
Verdict: Ringke hands down.
Summary: 1.) Use the Ringke and cut the port covers off, or 2.) Do what I did and modify the Spigen. (I like the sleekness of the Spigen on the back. No ridge around the Nexus part, so I can make covers showing Nexus, or hiding it with seamless coverage. I also like the Spigen dimple on the "M" for some reason.) There's a million ways you can do it, but I went with something totally ghetto and quick, but highly functional. Grab some 2mm 3M double sided adhesive and attach a nipple of your choice to desired buttons. In my case, I went for the first thing I saw and clipped off a little piece of an old sim card and stuck it on there. 6 days and counting, and still on there!

Yes, mine is pretty similar.
I can live with it, it is quite a decent case for the cash and I like the stiffer buttons as they help to prevent 'pocket presses'

Ah! OK that's interesting to know. My main concern was it being a weak point during a drop (like if something hitting it square on the front edge). It's a shame it's not just a little more snug fitting as it would be perfect otherwise. The main reason I got this case instead of a standard TPU is so I can put the metal plate for my magnetic car phone holder behind the plastic back which works really well. I do notice when putting the USB cable in the phone can shift slightly up and down in the rubber housing. It's just a fraction longer than it should be. I have also ordered the Brotect screen protector after trying some other brand that is absolute carp! I am waiting on a refund for those (ordered 3 of them in case I messed up the first). I also have an issue with garbled voice on calls but not sure if that is down to my network or not yet.
Also the lack of accessories is rather depressing.
But that's what happens when you don't follow the iPhone/Samsung crowd.

Good idea for the use of the removeable plate.
Yes, bit disappointing about accessories - but the phone is great.
I have a Nillkin hardcase and a Nillkin flip case too - both really good and much slimmer fit than the J&D, but they offer less protection, so I will stick with J&D for now
I have the Incipio version of that case style, it fits great.
