The (hardware) sources are not shared by ST-Ericsson.So it's not easy to port a ROM directly.Even the building of Cyanogen is painful. We should wait for stable Cyanogen (maybe a official base one day).It will be great. (Devs are working hard but it's hard to building proper libraries)

Sense 4.0 Multitasking port help needed.

So i saw that in other devices fourms they ported the Sense 4.0 multitasking screen. But it's not working for all devices or builds.
So a dev/ or user has to port the code to our builds . I myself don't have the time to port it but i am looking forward to seeing this on out beloved device.
Here's the source thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1589963

It's quite easy I have this running now on my defy ...... U need to source code to apply no porting necessary
I will help you make one for yourself after my exams are done
There's already a thread that has a flashable zip that works for older nightlys.
it may look neat but it hardly promotes multitasking that the inbuilt ics carousel provides...you can barely see the next two open apps using the sense "multitasker"

Android Lollipop 5.0 ROM on Low and Mid End Devices

I have an idea. My idea is a Custom ROM for Mid end and Low end devices based on Android Lollipop 5.0 but I cannot Port Roms. I Need You. I Need People who can Port Roms.
First I think that the Rom Must have very many stable Performance tweaks because the Rom should be Runs speedy like a SlimRom.
The kernel are a normal custom Kernel with dualboot options. I am still working on a Kernel what Runs with no lags, no bugs and it Runs very speedy and who can works on unlimited systems (dualboot,quadboot,...).
I have Not many ideas, please give me ideas who can idealized.
We can be a large and a good Team :highfive: .
Sorry for my Bad english.
Thanks from Germany
P.S Android Lollipop have Google Not bring it out but When it bring it out then We can porting the rom. We Need many ideas. Please share that on all people who can porting Roms or have many ideas

That is hard to do without a background in building from source and knowing some coding and kernel stuff. You don't have lollipop yet on that device so it will be even harded. You can't just copy some files. You need a device tree and modify the kernel and then build cm12 from source.
Thanks for taking time .. But i would if i can port CM11 at least

Well I don't know about your device (it's basically the same for all Qcom device, I don't know about MTK). Porting by copying files is less reliable then building from source (well it's way easier). It's very very hard to solve bugs when copying files and if the base has bugs the port might be even more buggy.

2.Can i port the nexus 5x images(marshmallow) on google to one plus x again using cm12.1 or the oxygen os dump 2.1.3 as the base rom?

actually i had tried doing that.but on my broadband connection syncing from git using the tutorial at google was very difficult.went on for many days and still i couldnt get source downloaded and syncd.used command to pick up latest branch.still failed.that why i thought about this way.Do you think the porting as i mentioned above ia possible.specially the cross porting using 5.1.1 base to port a marshmallow aosp made for nexus 5x or even one plus one bacon

To what I know.. It's not possible.. You've to sync git for sure.. That's how every dev is working here..

this was the reason
sorry to disturb but i go this idea based on this video here
How to Port a Custom Rom to your Android Smartphone
would have posted the link but i am not being allowed to
Well try syncing some source and build.. You can't just port it.. Maybe the tutorial is about different kinda ROMs like MIUI
Try slim.. It's little less.. Still you've to spent 20-30GB
Send from my OnePlus X
the video i spoke about was to port pac man rom uaing cm as the basefor galaxy grand 2.however the guy said that we need the porting rom to be of a similary spexed device.
that had got me wondering if i can port aosp and that too cross porting where the base remains a 5.1.1 cm made for one plus x.
i would have loved developing from source but my crappy internet will never allow me to
Try OxygenOS as base.. It's completely for OpX and you can add features etc.
Send from my OnePlus X
ok so i will use:-
1.aosp 6 marshmallow made for some device ,or nexus 5x rom
2.oxygen os 2.1.3-x as base
i hope thats fine.will update here if i succeed
you will definietly not succeed.

Have to give him points for trying though. Good luck sand87ch
I am in a similar situation. I read infinite articles, millions of videos (not literally) but I still didn't get my answer. I am trying to build AOSP from Source for onyx, already synced Source code but now I want to know what changes I should be making in order to get working device tree, kernel tree, vendor, common and other things for AOSP 7.0? I have sources of CM14 but I don't know what exactly to do and no one seems to like helping out noobs with potential to learn (at least I think that about myself but again, sorry if this question is stupid)
