Hi. I have a an LG Optimus L9 P768 here and I have been trying to make it work again.
It has not been rooted or anything.
All I wanted to do is to flash it with the kdz I have which came from the LG Software Update.

except that instead of 7%, it only stops at 50%
My phone's fully charged and my USB drivers and cables are all good. My KDZ file is in the right file name.
Did I do something wrong here?

Do a factory reset , if you have cwm then do i complete wipe.
Switch On the phone
connect the phone in LG software mode.
Start offline flasher or FOTA
It should work out fine.
If everything fails then install CWM recovery via fastboot.
Download and restore CWM backups from here.

UPDATE:
I need info on how to root the phone because...
The phone has this Android icon with a red triangle.
I guess your recovery image is bad since the android should be standing upright instead of the red triangle mark.

I hate kdz flashing.. it never works.
Install CWM with fastboot and put a backup on your sd. Restore it and you haven't troubles with kdz

I had kdz problems while I was on windows 8. Fixed everything when I went back to windows 7, it worked on the first try.

Probably... Not use lg update tool to unbrick it, there is an option in the topright, if i remember correctly worked perfectly for me! And maybe write down your imei and S/N before you start. Sometimes you need them...

I had some issues with LG L9 p760. There were force closes of some apps (com.android.phone, etc), random rebooting etc. Hard reset helped for a week and then I had to reset it again. So I decided to use LG's tool to recover the phone. At first I entered S/W upgrade mode with volume up + USB cable. Upgrade was unsuccessful due to connection error at 50%.
Then I did a mistake. I powered on the phone, ticked the USB debugging mode and ran update again. Phone rebooted into S/W upgrade mode and started upgrading. Then there was again connection error at 50% and upgrade failed. BUT now I can't power on the phone. It just shows software upgrade mode no matter what I do. It seems like it has a flag to boot into S/W upgrade and that's it. I tried every possible button combo, etc to get it out, but no success. I even tried this procedure: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2085344 but It also returns connection error at approx 4-7% of progress.
I tried re installing drivers, using compatibility mode but nothing helps.
edit: I tried it in virtual machine with windows XP and still no success.
Only working thing is fastboot. If I erase u-boot then S/W upgrade mode doesn't show up and nothing else happens. When I reflash it the S/W upgrade is back on screen.
Is it possible to flash whole ROM with fastboot? Where can I get it and how?
What else can I do?

I did a little more research on this forum and gained access to the phone with fastboot. T I already flashed CWM recovery and boot.img form cyanogenmod .zip file but I still can't start recovery.
There must be a flag which redirects bootloader to S/W upgrade mode. How can I use fastboot to get rid of it?
I'll post the error log form offline phone update later when I try it again. I haven't saved it before

Now I don't have any more ideas. Only thing that works is fastboot. Is there any chance to get firmware to flash via fastboot? Also the battery is empty and it won't charge. Phone responds just when connected to computer via usb. I wish I had another L9 here to at least charge the battery.

thx for answer.
I did use it before. I can get to fastboot using this method. I tried replacing x-boot, u-boot, recovery.img and boot.img. Still no luck. I may have to flash other partitions, but I don't have them.

fastboot your phone

turn off your phone , remove all lg software & drivers & references to lg servers from hosts files etc, reboot your pc, (or better yet use a computer that didn't have any lg software and drivers installed on it)
install lg pc suite , run it select customer support – recovery phone, install the drivers, put your phone into s/w upgrade mode(doesn't matter if it shows s/w um when you power it on) , remove battery hold vol+ plug usb cable press power on
btw what os are you running ? why vm xp and compatibility mode ?

Lelus thanks for response. I did as you said, but I am unable to erase "system", because it just hangs and phone then reboots out of fastboot mode.
I instaled LG B2C app to a computer in school, installed drivers downloaded by this application (by entering imei) and then tried to run recovery. It stops at 50% at "update" due to "problem with communication between cell phone and PC". When I remove and reconnect the phone and hit restart button it stops again at 15%... So the phone is still bricked, even if I tried to update it on another computer.
About OS versions. I use windows 7 at my computer with XP SP3 compatibility mode. Then I tried to do it in virtual machine with XP SP2 and now I tried official recovery on a machine with XP SP2.
Do I have any other option to try?

try reflashing ics xloader and uboot and then stock boot and recovery from this post and see if you can get the battery charging animation , I don't think you need xp compatibility mode when using official lg tool

When I connect the phone to AC charger it says: S/W update - same as before.

It probably doesn't matter which one you choose.
One more thing to try. Again s/w upgrade mode without the battery ... after you plug usb cable ,disable "lge mobile usb modem" in system > device manager > modem

I already had this issue on my old computer with Windows 7. I never understood why (maybe backward compatibility mode issues?) : on my new computer under the same OS version, I don't have this issue. On my old computer, I was forced to use Windows XP SP2 (it seems you are running on SP1) and it works like a charm.

can anybody put the full backup for p768 from fastboot(boot.img - cache.img - divxkey.img - fota.img - misc.img - mlt.img - nv.img - persist.img - recovery.img - reserved.img - u.img - x.img - userdata.img) or just system-boot-recovery-xloader and u-boot

On service center they were also unable to flash software. So they replaced mainboard with a new one under warranty.

Be sure to have a decent battery level, and a reliable USB. Now, for the solution to your specific problem, I don't know it. HOWEVER, here is some help. WHEN you do get it to work, remember that you must perform a hard-reset after flashing to ICS, then you can boot into it. Otherwise it won't work.
All letters must be big,like this V10A_00.kdz or V20C_00.kdz(.kdz is small).If you downloaded adn ti was some thing like this v20A_00.kdz or V10a.kdz you must rename it.
tune off your wifi device.and be sure LG modem device in your devive maneger

oh yea now that you mention it the files that didn't work are not in capital letters
Up until recently I forgot I had this phone and resurrected it to use it as a home phone/webcam.
When I powered it on it received an OTA but it reboots and almost immediately I have a dead Android with a red exclamation point; which I think means recovery is borked?
Is this recoverable? Can this boot loader be unlocked?

I picked up the p769 because my Nexus Galaxy was out for repair with SquareTrade and the repair process was between 30-50 days. (semi long story but SquareTrade did me right - superb customer service!)
Because it was the summer of 2013, I didn't want to spend a lot as I was waiting on the Nexus 5. When I received the Nexus 5 the p769 went into a drawer and I've moved 3 times since then so it got lost in the shuffle.
Phone is stock and I don't recall attempting to put any recovery on it although I did use lgpwn to root it via the backup & restore vulnerability.
Just to be clear though, the phone boots normally and does indeed work! I was hoping to perform the update & factory reset then maybe consider flashing custom recovery and rom. (Breathe some new life into this thing!)
I don't mind applying some elbow grease. I reviewed a handful of posts on this subject and almost everything I required led to dead links so my level of confidence wasn't very high.
Satisfaction after success: I would be really excited to get this fixed. Seems silly for such an old phone but its got plenty of life left in it. (If not for me then for someone else.)
Disappointment after failure: On the one hand, I hope it wouldn't result in a bricked device, but then again I'm also not going to lose sleep over it.

There's another thread, where someone might have managed to clear the whole internal flash, including bootloader and baseband. Then it's just no longer wise to try getting it fixed(by LG or some repair shop).
In all other cases D/L mode should work.

Yes, I looked at that post prior to posting here and found that all the T-Mobile P769 links (V20H V20F) were dead; both at official LG links and cloud-sharing site links as well which is what prompted me to post here.
I tried the LG links again yesterday and got 404's. Today, by some miracle, the LG link worked so I pulled the V20H.kdz from LG, proceeded with the process but Spoiler Alert: I'm getting a 'Problem with communication between cell phone and PC' and the process fails.
Prerequisites
Download the bits
Don't need MSXML but I install it anyway
Install LG drivers - verified adb could see the device too
Setup webserver - verified I can reach localhost:9002
Updated hosts file - verified pinging the hosts points locally
Debug mode enabled
Lookup disabled
USB mode set to LG Software
I placed the phone in 'S/W Upgrade' mode (VOL UP + Plug in USB Cable) and checked Device Manager to confirm it looks happy:

This behavior was consistent after multiple attempts.
Since the phone was running 4.1 before, I booted it up normally (into the OS) and started the process over.
This time the PHONE UPDATE utility gets past the 'Analysis' & 'Download' steps without issue and the phone reboots on its own into the 'S/W Upgrade' mode.

I tried:
unplugging the cable for 15 seconds before reinserting and trying again
pulling the battery and placing it back into that mode
using a different USB port
using a different USB cable
disabling then removing any security & AV software
standing on one leg, touching my nose with my thumb while bending over backwards.
I've been at it for a few hours now without having made any appreciable progress.
Perhaps I'm missing some super simple thing and you/someone can point it out to me.
You probably ran into the problem, that Fastboot don't work with Windows 8 & 10. The tool initially may have successfully detected the phone via ADB, then rebooted it into Fastboot mode and - FAIL.
I had various problems with the LG Flash Tool 2014 and a KDZ file. But unbricking my P760 in D/L mode with the current tool from LG always worked, last time a couple of months ago. It performs an online install of v20o rom. About one year ago you would still get the much older v20h in Europe. At least for the unbranded phones this still works.

Got my hands on a Windows 7 machine, repeated the process and all is well.
Thank goodness I'm done with this phone - sheesh.
D802 Won't install stock rom with LG flash tool 2014! (No Recovery Mode & Bootloop!)

I have a D802 LG G2 Android phone, and I've been flashing roms for almost a year now, I knew my way around LG Flash Tool 2014 until I lost my backup files on my USB. It didn't really matter much because I could find the right version for the flash tool from the imei of the device.
The last 2 rom's I've had were CM 14.1 (unofficial), and I had edited boot.prop to get google assistant using an app from play store.
I was quite fine with the rom until I had learned that CM was officially shut down and that they had moved into Lineage OS, where I decided to install Lineage OS. Everything went pretty fine, I fully wiped my phone, and and flashed Lineage OS for D802 which I downloaded from the official website, I also downloaded the gapps and flashed them, and everything booted up perfectly. Last thing I needed was root access, and there was the download page on the Lineage OS website as well. I flashed everything and went in to the SU app, and it prompted that it had SU binary update, I accepted and the phone went into recovery to flash the updated binary. After that I got stuck in a bootloop.
I tried to go back to recovery but no success. The only way I could repair this was LG flash tool 2014 and then go back to stock and re-install Lineage without the binary update. But LG flash tool will go up to 2% or 4% and then says phone disconnected...
