You can still flash some stock ICS ROM w/o a problem, but not a JB one, since it needs unlocked bootloader.
tbh better stay on GB.

Is this the way ?

This belongs in the Q & A section but your answer is simple really. Update it through PC Companion, if that doesn't work then check around on XDA and find the list of stock firmwares (update manually), if you really want JB then you will have to get a new phone because at the moment I don't think there is any JB ROMs with locked bootloader capabilities.

xPERIA Mini 4.1.B.0.587 firmware?

Ok,I have a somewhat stupid question but honestly,I can't find the solution at the moment...
I'm using an xPERIA Mini with unlocked bootloader,MESA kernel and the official ICS .431 ROM.
How can I update to the latest .587 ROM? I know I can't update through the "official" ways since I have the unlocked bootloader but I also can't find any Generic World FTF to flash either.
So,any help on this?
Thank you in advance!

I think GB is still the best. Try this ROM from sandy and shprakash

It looks like ICS but runs like GB in terms of stability and speed.
Any news? Meanwhile I think I m gonna give Paranoid Android a try!

THE FIRMWARE IS GOING TO BE RELEASED ON NEXT SUNDAY FOR XPERIA MINI PRO.. ie 16th september. CHEERS!!
source for this info?

2012-8-16 must be a mistake, it should be 2012-9-16
Thank you!

I don't think date is incorrect - Sony probably did release fw, but roll-out is very slow... same was with first ICS fw... It was released but only few people was able to update...
So I think that ftf will come very soon
If someone got it already, let us know

Sent from my ST15i using xda premium
xPERIA Mini
Both mini and mini pro are listed to have 4.1.B.0.587 update on Sony website since 16 august 2012, but none of both has gotten any update regardless the country/region.
I guess Sony is playing with us, so when user of Mini/Mini Pro asking about the update, then Sony could answer: "the update is available, the reason that you don't get the update is because it isn't available for your country/region yet, you need to wait." and Sony would say this to every user of Mini/Mini Pro from every country in the world.

1. Are you saying that that this ftf seems suspicous to you? BTW, I was the first to upload the ICS update for Xperia sola, and people all over the world are using my ftf including many xda members. Still think I'd upload a suspicious ROM ?
2. Here are a bunch people asking for the Indian Rom .
And If mods think that this thread is useless, then they can delete it. I have no problem.
As I said before. We have an official thread. It contains all the official and unofficial rom for xperia. WHY YOU MAKE ANOTHER ONE?? We have official India rom
I see no point in adding another rom. And yes, I am suspicious of these situations.

That Indian f/w was ICS...this is GB, we didn't have a GB f/w for India up till now, we only had the central Europe version, and the Asian version...and the Asian version was pretty much useless cuz it was in chinese, and it didnt have any google apps, not even play store...
and another reason why I added this rom is because many people are reverting back to GB since ICS is lagging at some places for them...
nevermind....:cyclops:
again If the mods think that this is useless, they can close this thread....

Lol, first thing is a four *s. Congrats, you've made it to top clown of the week.
1) Nobody asked if you believe
2) If you find it suspicious, there's the X at the right top of the screen
3) Unknown reason? He explicitly stated it in the first post
4) You don't see it? Doesn't mean its not there. Requests could be by PM or his actual friends asking him in REAL LIFE.
5) Lastly, the 'official thread with any official ROM' includes this ROM. So what about it now?
All in all, why do you care if you're not going to use it?
Seesh, if you're not going to do any virus scan etc of it to prove your suspicion, don't talk so impolitely when others are bothering to make an effort to share useful stuff.
Variations and other download links will help users who need it to get ROMs faster or specific to their region.
P.S. People do know how to read and check before they post things up.

you realise the software number is actually lower than the current latest one? 4.0.2.A.0.84 vs 4.1.B.0.587
Maybe SONY release update on GB because GB latest is .62 and this .84

I don't remember saying I know the best. but Sony [Ericsson] tends to release newer firmwares for specific models with higher numbers and letters, it's always been that way (for example, in my old W810i's case R4DB001 firmware was followed by R4EA031, then R4EK001, then R4GC031 if I remember correctly; same with Android firmwares - 4.0.2.A.0.42, then then .58, .62, then 4.1.0.B.431...). also, the news just said they released the source, so maybe it's some ditched GB firmware they decided to share, as they've already moved '11s to ICS?
Maybe not a new firmware but just the device specific driver sources for the devs? That would be awesome!!!! (Just a guess)

Doesn't make much sense to me that they'd release an "update" on an obsolete OS
They should update ICS, which is the current OS.
I was thinkin', maybe they're just releasing the source code... Which doesn't mean they're gonna release .ftf or update.
But in the end who knows, we'll just have to wait and see

[Q] Questions from someone without a clue

Hi guys,
I have a Sony Xperia U (st25i) and the bootloader is locked
So i've gathered I can't root the phone unless i'm in ICS. This is the problem tho... I am with T-Mobile and am currently running Android 2.3.7.
My question is, in my current situation how do I upgrade to ICS (T-Mobile says I have the latest upgrade) also i'm assuming once i'm in ICS I can do some fancy stuff than compared to the Android version I'm in right now !!
Thanks for any help guys.

Hi bz786,
I was in a similar situation like you. had a Xperia U and SIM locked to a company. Instead of endless waiting for the company to release the ICS, I just did flash by myself.
Well... there would be no fancy stuff anyway.. unless you root it and install a custom ROM cuz the stock ROM or company ROM always uses up most of the tight 512M ram cap...
Cheers,

Thanks guys! I went ahead and used flashtool but... now I have a problem
So once ICS was installed I was ecstatic however my 3G was not working. So what I did was go to the phone settings and download the internet settings again but now the 3G is much slower than previously on Gingerbread. I think I messed something up with the baseband or installed a firmware which has the incorrect firmware settings (for me).
Does anyone know where I can download (UK, UNITED KINGDOM - This is a must I think for the 3G) Sony Xperia U ST25i T-Mobile ICS stock ROM? (Wow that's a mouthful LOL)
Thanks guys!
