Word app that you can write on? - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Themes and Apps

So after fooling around a bit with my note, I was wondering what the best option is for an app that can let you type text and also write on. There are many things I would rather type out than write (notes wise), but the writing is good for formulas and other gimmicks. I have been using S-note, it's good but I don't like the fact that I have to change pages so often. I would rather it be a continuous document like in MS word where I can just keep going vertically.
Any ideas?

Tried ApMemo? old stock though, as developer failed to update or upgrade any further; nevertheless a good app. Good thing about it is it has both text and drawing / handwriting capabilities and calendar or schedule with alarm: A rare combination.

You can type and add freehand annotations all in Polaris office if it's the same as 10.1 first gen

The only options I see in Polaris 5 is Shape Draw and Table Draw. Seems that we can't add freehand drawings.
If only Evernote or OneNote would add some decent freehand functions... ("Skitch" is certainly not an option!).

Yes you can

Is it me or is this thing complete garbage? And why, why would they add such garbage to a task bar you can't change????? I just don't get it. Maybe from the market I could understand but to include this as a feature app bundled with a what is supposed to be a top notch tablet.

it can be small sized on top of any other app (multitasking at new level) +1
it can be dragged to any part of the screen +1

That is all very great (I was really frustrated last night, so forgive my rant) but efficiently handwriting on that thing is impossible!
I tried using 3 different styluses and my finger, no way with either method could I walk into a house and take notes and room dimensions with any speed or accuracy.
calling it a note pad and taking out the option to handwrite would be a much better representation of the app.
The ablility to change to change the app to a better handwriting app would be that much better but that's kind of a different rant....

Decent drawing app

Hello,
I am looking for an app to annotate maps.
Meaning, open up a jpeg, zoom into it at some arbitrary point, and then write on it/draw arrows.
I am, for some stupid reason, finding it hard to find one.
I see lots of various 'editors' like photoshop express that let you do crop/color changes/etc. But not just DRAW.
photo.editor by dev.macgyver has a zoom - which doesn't let you scroll afterwards. So you can only draw in the center. So that's useless.
Sketchtalk mobile FCed on me.
Why is it so hard to find a decent s-pen drawing app? @#&$#&@$#@
- Frank
The only app I've found which does what you're asking for is Skitch, but for some reason when using the s-pen the drawings are rather laggy. Not so when you use your finger, but I'd much rather use the s-pen.

Yea, skitch works. Thanks!
What is most annoying is that when you take a screenshot, it goes into some sort of editor that does exactly what I want.
But I have no clue how to trigger it manually (screenshot is much lower res than my actual picture)
- Frank
I think it opens s-note when you do that, but from what I can tell it's all fixed to a certain resolution and your images just get resized to fit.
You could always find yourself a copy of photoshop touch v1.3.2 (this specific version)
you can draw on canvases up to 4000x4000 and it supports layers too

I tried it out - you are correct, it is indeed s-memo.
You can import pictures into s-memo (it's a little tedius, to be honest), but s-memo will resize your picture to some reduced size. (the 'fit to screen resolution', looks like)

Sketchbook Mobile is the best drawing app imo.
sketchbook mobile it is - skitch is just too freakin' laggy with the pen.
SKM is horribly confusing, but once you get it worked out it's alright.
Manuals/documentation are at:

The in-program help is just brutally bad.

Try photo desk. It let's you open any photo you have and draw on it https://play.google.com/store/apps/..._medium=organic&utm_term=photodesk+play+store
Doesn't cut it for you to just get to wherever point in the map and doing a screenshot and drawing on it? it's pretty straight-forward.

Smemo resizes the picture to screen resolution, and also doesn't allow reopening saved images. Sometimes that isn't acceptable. It's great for those other times though.

In the samsung apps store, there is a free app called 'Photo editor' that does the job just fine too.
The drawing is in a weird place, and I missed it originally.
When you open a pic, you are in a 'effects' submenu. Back out (left arrow in the top bar)
Now go into 'decoration' (!) -> drawing -> pen
And you can now draw/save/etc.

You could try picsay, or picssy pro from the play store. I have used it for years, and it is great, for everything you can think of for editing, annotations, colour corrections. It doesn't have the professional feel of Photoshop, it's more artistic

seems like a pretty limited note application compared to GNote, S-Memo, Papyrus...and smells of lazy iOS port as well...I'll stick with one of the others for now, but thanks for pointing it out
Hopefully it's going to have more options. Like somene said before others have way more options, s memo being pretty much the best but for us that are running custom roms it doesnt work.

Mine auto spaces when I use swype.
The auto-spacing only half works.
The critical thing to do to get some auto-spacing is to write multiple words out on one line. You won't fit much, maybe 2-3 at the very most, but it will auto space these.
Trying to do one word at a time and letting it clear the screen, doesn't auto-space at all. Very annoying for sure.

This makes no sense at all, it's so counterintuitive. I thought for sure I was missing a section.
As stated above all words written on the screen at a time will auto space but when the screen clears you have to space. What I have found easier than hitting the space bar though, is ate the screen clears you can "write" the space by writing a very short left to right dash.

Unless i'm also missing something, when i use the pen with swiftkey flow enabled for handwriting recognition.
Everytime I write a word, let it recognize and start a new word it does NOT auto space.
Hope this is just a setting I missed or something??
Or are you just talking about drawing from letter to letter on the keyboard, just with the pen?

Swiftkey flow is swype so I thought that is what you meant. Let me test handwritten.
So, I figured it out. You have to write until thee is no more room on the pad then you let it recognize the text you have written. Once it does that, write a small dash (left to right) and that will make a space. you can then repeat the process. Hope this helps. Writing like this is pretty fun.

Yea, that is how i have been doing it too, i just wish it would auto space itself. On a screen this big i don't see the advantage of having the default be to continue the current word, rather than start a new one. Guess i'll just be training myself to space, just hard to remember.
I sent random texts to my girlfriend all night long just playing with the handwriting. Works really well too!
Thanks again.
