Galaxy Note 3 - Restarts when trying to Encrypt - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Hi,
I did a bunch of search strings on here and Google to try and find a solution to my problem to no avail. I really hope you guys can help.
My device: Galaxy Note 3 - N900W8 - Rooted and Unlocked (RegionLock Away 1.3)
My Problem:
I'm trying to connect the device to my works account via Exchange ActiveSync. My company forces encryption on the device as part of the setup processes. When I try to Encrypt the device (Fast Encrypt or not) it shows the Encryption Android dude (Green) as if it's going to start and then the phone just turns off and reboots.
Any ideas what the issue could be? Is it possible that because the phone is rooted, the security settings that my works places on it doesn't like it?
Thanks.
H

Hi, I was experiencing the same thing, I was playing with the encryption and now my lock screen pattern and pin is not an option anymore and I have to use the encryption password, when my device is not even encrypted! I cannot decrypt because every time I go into the Encrypt device option, It goes back to rebooting just like you mention. Anybody can help?
Thanks,
T2

[Q] Cannot encrypt S3 after rooting

Hello,
I have recently rooted my Galaxy S3 and today I tried to encrypt it in order to get access to my Exchange account (requires encrypted device). When I select encrypt device from the settings menu, I get very briefly the Android picture (with its guts open) but after one or two seconds, the screen goes blank, the phone restarts and it is not encrypted.
I have rooted my phone using the CF mod and ODIN.
If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.
P.S. The S3 is running Android 4.3.
Thanks
Hi,
i've encountered the same issue. The fix however is quite simple. Boot into recovery and then select "wipe data". After that, you can encrypt without any problems. But keep in mind that all your data will be lost, better make a backup before
Cheers

I've tried to wipe data/reset the device, but the problem remains on my GS3.

[Q] Galaxy S4 Shuts down when attempting to encrypt.

I have a Sprint Samsung Galaxy S4 (SPH-L720). My device is currently stock rooted running Android 4.4.2. I recently just did a factory reset and need to encrypt my device. I have my screen lock password setup and when I select to encrypt the device it shows the screen with the android gear icon for a second then shuts off. About a minute later it will turn on again on its own and boot right up to the regular lock screen. It will not encrypt and gives no error message.
The only references I have found on a Google search about encryption not working was referring to an error message saying the encryption failed and asking the user to factory reset.
Any idea what is causing my issue?
Still having this issue. Even reflashed again and it's doing the same.

Encrypted device not encrypted?

Hi all
When I first got my S6 I encrypted it and all was good. When I restarted it it would always ask for the password but a couple of days ago I noticed it restarted for some unknown reason. When it booted back up it didn't ask for the password. Strange I thought but maybe because it restarted itself that was normal. So I powered it off myself and again it started up but didn't ask for the password again. All my data was still accessible too!
I found this thread on reddit describing the same problem:
https://m.reddit.com/r/GalaxyS6/comments/378e4c/encrypted_s6_does_not_prompt_for_password_upon/
Followed the suggestion and it worked!
So is the encryption not really encrypting? And had anyone else had this issue?
Thanks

I am facing the exact same issue here.
I had the device encrypted and it was asking me for the password at every reboot.
Suddenly, it stopped asking for the password, even when I power off and an again.
In the security settings it still shows the device as encrypted and it offers me to decrypt the device.
I did not investigate this in detail yet, but I have lost all confidence in Samsung's encryption.
If the device can suddenly boot without prompting for a password, that means the device cannot have been properly encrypted before.

Unlocking phone without losing data

Hello to all,
i have an xperia z3 compact and i left it out of use for a while due to broken screen, i finally changed the screen but realised that i have forgotten the lock pattern.
Any way to unlock it without losing my data in the internal memory?
If it helps and if i remember correctly,
1) i had usb debugging and developer options enabled
2) i haven't rooted it (for sure).
3) phone has kept the credentials for my wifi, gmail, etc, so it's connected when i turn it on (and of course i have those credentials).
4) it probably has android 6 (marshmallow) installed.
5) i tried with "find my device" from google, and while it sees my phone, it says "Find My Device is turned off" so the option for locking it anew is greyed out and i can't access it, so this method doesn't work.
Any ideas? is it possible to bypass the pattern and get inside to get my stuff and apps?
thank you to anyone reading this and wanting to help me out.
I don't think that's quite possible. The few ways to bypass the lock have pretty much disappeared with recent Android versions.
Best of luck!
thank you, i'm so frustrated. At first i wanted to save my data and bypass the pattern, now i just want to be able to use my phone again even if i lose the data and i can't even do that!
There is no hard reset for this model!
I just can't believe that there isn't any way possible to get back your phone if you forgot your pattern!
no way to have recovery or TWRP in a locked phone with usb debugging on?
no way to push adb commands?
There should be something for situations like that

Secure boot confusion

Hey hey,
I have a problem with the encryption on my ROG Phone.
Whenever I get a new device, one of the first things I do is to enable the requirement of a password before booting.
This worked for a while but is now miraculously disabled with apparently no way of enabling it?
Before I could only see a black screen where I was prompted to enter my password. Nothing else worked, which is desired.
Now after having changed exactly nothing myself it boots completely on its own without the need of a password and then asks for one to access the phone.
I feel that this is a security risk. Any know ways of fixing this except for a factory reset?
