Corsair Voyager Air anyone have advice - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just purchased Corsair Voyager Air 1tb wifi hard drive and I'm having trouble getting it to play flac files with my preferred music app.
Anyone had any experience with this or could anyone advise an alternative app rather than Corsair. Would Tasker be able to do anything with this problem.
If it helps both phone and tablet are rooted.
Love some advice from anyone in the know.
Thanks

Media player from Toshiba Thrive

Hello everyone, As I'm testing the tablets to see which one to keep, I found a Toshiba media player quite useful. It's like media suite which also lets you stream musics, videos, pictures from your PC using Windows media player. I installed the apk on Samsung Tab 10.1 (unrooted), and it worked perfectly.
I cannot do any screen grab, as I've not rooted it yet. But believe me it does work beautifully. The video player also lets you skip to the next video or go back to the previous one (if you have more than one in a folder).
Install instruction:
1. copy the ToshibaMediaPlayer.apk to any folder of your choice on /sdcard/ location.
2. Tap once on the ToshibaMediaPlayer.apk and select 'Install'.
3. Enjoy.
NOTE: I copied the apk from Toshiba /System/app/ using root explorer and used the same to install the apk. I'm sure it should work with other file manager as well.
The apk is 10 MB, therefore apk size limit prevents from uploading on xda. Please use the multiupload link to download the file.

Great app.

Thanks! It fixes my issue with some videos not stretching the whole way so i'd have black bars on the top/bot and the sides! I wonder what other video player apps there are that might work. I definitely like this over the honeycomb gallery player.
Gonna try this, thanks. Mobo player works well most of the time but has it's hickups still.

Sry for the OT but i install this on my TF101 and it's working great, only problem is that only plays what stock plays... Is there a way to use an external player like mobo or vitalplayer?
As someone else mentioned it only really plays what the stock player plays and doesn't really have much in terms of options. Sticking with Mobo Player for now. Thanks for your work though.

Hi,
Can anyone who had Toshiba Thrive test out if it plays videos on wifi from a network share like a network hard drive or from a shared folder on a networked computer without first coping the whole movie to the tablet?
I tried Acer Iconia, Morotolla Xoom and not matter what file manager or video player I used, they all first start coping a movie to the tablet and only after that they start playing. I also have Acronis 101 and that one doesn't copy videos and opens them right away and starts playing.
Also can you read external hard drives in NTFS format when connecting it to the USB port on the tablet?
we're missing some libraries that we need to get DLNA working. it's looking for jnidhsdk, but can't find it. can you look in /system/lib/ on the toshiba and see if there's anything that might look useful?
better yet, if you could just extract the whole folder, I'll have a look myself.
Thanks,
Sam

A roundabout solution is to use the Plex app to stream movies stored in your pc/mac on the GT10, though it will set you back 5 dollars.
And thanaks to the OP for the toshiba media player which is quite neat.
Any chance you could also port the toshiba file manager, which I hear is quite good too?
Is Acronis 101 an app? Or a tablet?

Archos 101 is a tablet. Bad viewing angles, low memory but is light and cheap. It's on Froyo but it can see FAT and NTFS drives and opens any video from network drives shared over wireless network.
They have just announced new tablets on Honeycomb that will cost $279 for 8.1 inch and $349 for 10.1 inch and they will both have 1.5 GHz dual core CPU. both will come with 16 Gb flash memory but for $50 more you can order the same model with 250Gb SSD that is only 3 mm thicker than the same model with flash memory. Also they have full size USB port and you can buy a $49 USB 3G stick for your own data plan. That stick completely hides in the tablet and doesn't stick out and you can use it on your laptop/computer as well. I think I'm going to wait till september and buy one then.

I used to have a Archos 101 Gen8 before i sold it to buy a Transformer... their (Archos) Music/Video players are awesome, if only the TF could stream from SMB and with subtitles.
The "Acronis" was what got me lost

Acronis was a typo, I use both and guess my fingers typed it automatically when I meant the tablet.
Well, for the new tablets they are planning on getting a better screen. If they put 1Gb or ram I'll buy it. The old one had very little ram so it kept crying for low memory when installing apps. But multimedia side of it was great. So far I haven't found that on any Honeycomb tablets.
thanks alot !!
Worked for me instantly and picked up my TVersity Media server without issue. Playback was perfect, but I do wish there was a way to adjust the app to access my home network when away. I'm not a fan of Plex... I prefer TVersity.
please re-upload te apk file...
Yes if possible please re-upload. Or if anyone want to give me the apk I will upload it. Thanks in advance.

New Touchpad Owner

Hey everybody. I just ordered a Touch pad and am excited to hear about some of the adjustments you guys have made here to increase speed and overall functionality of the tablet.
In looking at the spec sheet it appears that there are no card slots so I can't use a micro SD or an SD card. I also don't see an HDMI out so I guess that I can't hook up the tablet to my TV can I?
Thanks!
No, unfortunately you are stuck with only using the internal storage. As far as I know, the only way to connect your table to a tv would be through DLNA, but not all televisions support it.
Thanks, I'll have to try DLNA. I might even look into Google TV. I believe that's what it's called.
I've been able to play video and audio from my home server on the Touchpad, but am not sure a DLNA capable TV would "see" the touchpad and any content on it. Anyone have a DLNA capable TV to test?

Well, technically you still get 50GB with Box.net with your HP TouchPad.
It works. I downloaded allshare player from the market and launched it. Now when i check dlna devices on my tv, cm tenderloin showed up and was able to play music and vids.

If you really need external storage there is always this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1433667.
Thanks everyone. I can't wait till Friday when this Touch pad arrives. I'm selling my ipad 2 and I'm sending my Transformer Prime in RMA as soon as my TP gets here.
Yes, my wife calls me an Electronic Slut! But it's what I do. I'm really excited about Web OS! Especially now that it is open sourced!
Thanks again!

Anyone with experience using Droid DNA as a setup XBMC/Plex for a HDTV

looking for some tips. i was in the market for a roku or a chromecast (eventually would prob get a chromecast anyways, but i like having a nice UI hence XBMC) to put on my living room TV, but thought maybe i could use my phone running xbmc instead with an hdmi out cable.
anyone have any experience with this? any lag? issues? hiccups? thanks.
thought about getting an android stick like MK808 but figured the Droid DNA would be more powerful.
Have 3 rokus in the house and one machine running plex with a 2tb nas drive full of movies etc. Have you ever used plex? It's looks and acts just like netflix and the picture quality/transcoding is superb! Plex rocks!
Not a fan of the netflex/plex UI on the roku

[Q] Allwinner A31S Sound issues KitKat

Just bought an Allwinner A31S 10.1" Quad core 32Gb tablet off ebay. It comes pre-installed with Kit Kat and is pre rooted. Everything works fine apart from the sound which is very low. You can barely hear it even in a quiet room. I've tried loads of volume boost apps from the Play store and none work. Even using headphones doesn't really help as the sound is still tinny and poor.
However after installing XBMC I discovered it was possible to amplify the volume and save the setting. Everything in XBMC sounds great so it's not a hardware problem. I think it is a problem with KitKat. I've tried searching fruitlessly on the internet but cannot find anything on this. I don't know if this is a normal problem with tablets in general or Allwinner based tablets or KitKat running tablets or if there is a fix available.
Anyway to get around this annoyance I've ordered some wireless bluetooth speakers so I can actually hear my tablet at a decent level
Yep, I have exactly the same issue, any help would be great, anyone please?
Thanks,
Martin.

What is a good android box?

Hey,
I was thinking about an Android box thingy and there are many cheap options.
I would like to play around with some emulators (PPSSPP included) with a USB controller I have and watch some anime ^^ I'd also not like to spend in excess of ~$35 (max $45)
Any good cheap boxes that can do that? Preferably that support Lolipop since I love its UI.
I've seen ones with Amlogic S802,812 and 912 CPUs and RK3188 and 3368 CPUs.
Which one is decent? eBay links would be appreciated ^^ Thanks! (OpenGL ES3 support would also be nice.)
RK3188 drives my LighInTheBox mk809iv. It's got 2GB RAM, 8GB EMMC, a full sized USB 2 port, hdmi, microSDXC port, runs KitKat 4.4, comes with Kodi pre-installed. I rooted it with Kingoroot.com, so that I could run a vnc server on it. I remote control it with my phone which running the free Valence app, or sometimes I remote it with Screen Sharing on my Mac. It plays nicely, and I get decent enough Wifi speeds. It's run everything I have thrown at it. A quick search for mk809iv will bring up a whole lot of these devices, even some with 16gb EMMC. Some will arrive pre-rooted, others will not. Look for Realtek Wifi for best compatibility if you intend to flash it (which requires a PC). It is fun to play with, but looking back on the experience, I'd rather have had a small Android phone with MHL/hdmi-output, as it would have been much easier to set up if there was a screen on the device itself. Just a thought. Used Galaxy s3 handsets are getting cheap enough now, with the same functionality. Cheers!

Yep! Any suggestions regarding TV apps, websites with TV shows, forums for TV boxes and input devices? I don't really think the bundled remote would be something I'd wanna use. I've seen wireless small keyboards with trackpads, do you know anything about them?

The forum I use for my Android devices is usually XDA, right here.
I used a USB keyboard and a mouse to set mine up.
For the record, I rooted my MK809 IV, which has an rk3188 SOC running KitKat 4.4, with Kingo Root, to allow me to run a VNC server, because I use a free Android app called Valence on my phone as a wifi trackpad/mouse and use my phone's keyboard to type on the Android TV. Root allows me to use the free RemoDroid app to control my Android TV from my phone or tablets from anywhere in my house.
Kodi comes on mine, and it's a free app in the Play Store anyway. I tried to set it up last April, but it kept crashing. If you are into that sort of thing, it is a very capable media server for sure.
For playing local files, I think MX Player is the champion app.
I ultimately bought a Logitech k700 keyboard with built-in trackpad to use with mine - I purchased it refurbished on a Newegg special for fifteen dollars! I take that keyboard everywhere with me. I love it. I prefer to use an actual mouse, but since I bought the k700, I have not missed mice enough to actually plug one in. I like it because it is nearly full-sized, but still compact, and it comes already set up to use a single USB wireless dongle. Range has been great, and after almost a year I am still on the first set of batteries.
Just today I was looking into purchasing the remote that came with your TV box, so please, let me know if you like it.
I bought a Hubman USB 2.0 hub in case I need more ports. It seemed like a good idea to have it, but I have not actually plugged it into the Android stick yet. I'm sure it will support a mouse, keyboard & usb thumb-drive just fine.
I don't want to go too far off-topic, so if it's okay with you, I'll pm you a list of apps I use for video. Nothing seems to slow down my aging rk3188 quad. Your rk3368 octa-core is going to be fantastic! Would you please post a link to the auction? Even if the auction is closed, I'd love to take a look at the device. The price you paid is unbelieveable!

I haven't really been watching TV or movies lately. When I've had free downtime, I've been playing a roll-playing game that's called Skydoms. I didn't think I'd get hooked on it, but then I did.
How is that box working out for you?
