Multiwindow - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Themes and Apps

Is it possible to alter the list of apps available to multiwindow without root? I don't really care to trip knox.
Thanks

I give up on waiting for a Knox-free root. What is the best multi window method? I really liked the way the old note 10.1 worked. Anything like that?

Xposed, then MW Apps Manager allows you to add apps to the multi-window list.
Pen Window Manager allows to add apps to pen window list. Pen Window Launcher allows you to open these apps without going through Air Command.

And, Pen Window Launcher coupled with GMD Gesture Control let you open Pen Window without removing SPen. You can draw a box or any custom gesture with finger!

Well I dont own a Note 10.1 (but planning to buy one and hence was going through this thread). However I have done this on my Note 2 that has got note 3 features including Pen Window and it is working like a charm. I am pretty sure it will work on Note 10.1
1) Install Pen Window Launcher (PWL), go to PWL settings, click on "Drawer Icon Action" and select "Show PWL Directly". So we will not have the floating button (and we don't need it)
2) Install GMD, go to "User Gestures" and Record a new gesture (rectangular box will be ideal), Click "Next>Select Action>Application and choose PWL and save.
With this you can launch PWL with finger on top of any app or home screen.
Actually you an have lot of other utilities as well with GMD. Alt+ Tab will be another one of them two switch between two apps (see in screen shot below).
By the way, hope your device is rooted

With the old Note, I would open Kindle and SNote then take notes by circling/copy a passage and dragging it directly on the SNote that is open in split screen.
I haven't rooted, so I haven't tried this method - but in trying this in the default multi window with Chrome and SNote I haven't found that the 2014 is as functional nor as fast as the old SNote but maybe it has something to do with my old one being rooted.
Do you have any experience with this? I'd love to know I could do that on the 2014. It was one of the most functional features I used on the original 10.1.

Then I must be confused between Xposed and the Xposed Framework. The latest version of Xposed can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47991707. This is version 2.4, but then again, maybe it's Xposed or maybe it's Xposed Framework. As you can tell, I'm not very familiar with all of this and am trying to learn all the functionalities of my 7 Android devices.

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, so here is what I think; To use Xposed, the Framework has to be installed. To install Framework, you need to be rooted.

If you install Xposed and then click install updates within the app it installs the frameworks.
You then need to download Modules (from the Download section within Xposed), install it and enable.as per your requirements.
You need to be rooted for installation.

Papyrus Beta - Now Works with ICS!!!

I recently came upon a great note taking app called Papyrus Beta. The app developer has now added support for the s-pen on the G-Note. One killer feature is the ability for the app to distinguish between s-pen input and finger input, so you can use the s-pen to write and finger to erase. If you watch the demo video in the Play Store the developer talks about additional functionality that they are hoping to bring to the app in future updates, including other uses for the s-pen button and wireless note syncing.
If you are an obsessive compulsive note taker like me, you should definitely check this app out!
Play Store link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.steadfastinnovation.android.projectpapyrus
Edit: I see that this app has already been mentioned in the N7000 forums. Here's the link to that thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1580716
[UPDATE] The new update to this app brings support for Galaxy Note ICS!! I've only tested it on the Team Perfection's ICS Objection RC3 ROM and it works perfectly; I can't guarantee that it will work for all custom ROMS. Everyone should check out this app.
Looks nice... I can't see it in the market, and on the Web it says not comparable, lol

I sent an email to the developers to see if it is compatible with ICS.

I'm at 240, while stock is 320. If it's not the DPI, it might've been something with the ROM itself, since I'm on Seraphim ICS. Without it recognizing the s-Pen, its useless anyway. It recognizes the s-Pen for selecting things right until you create a new note, then it completely ignores it. There's an option in settings to enable the Active Pen, but it doesn't recognize it as a compatible device for that.
I'm also on Seraphim and I was able to download it. I can't write anything with my finger or s-pen.
Also here is a download link if you still have problems
http://goo.gl/BB6oB
Edit: After a reboot my finger worked but still no pen. They're still in beta, only a matter of time i suppose.
I have an email in to the developer also about stock compatibility. I'll post when I get a response.

Only 7 apps in multitask bar

I just got my new Verizon GNote2 today on pre-order and I'm loving the fact that the multitask bar has been included however it only has 7 apps for the multi-function and none of which I use daily. I'm hoping to root this phone as soon as there is one available. Also mine came without any headphones. I'm going to request they give me a pair because they do come with the T-Mobile version. Other than that this is a great phone.
I noticed the same thing, in the videos on YouTube there's Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and so much more that has multiwindow support, but I only get a few apps to choose from.

Idea for MultiWindow

Hi guys,
This just ocurred to me. I was reading that the korean jb has multiwindow and that its hardware is very similar to our notes. Both use a snapdragon S3 and the adreno 220. Can it be posible to port? I was just trying to port multiwindow into my own and I was able to make flashbar appear, get the toggle in settings. When you open the first app it opens like normal, now the second you see that it has the little box to divide the screen, but it opens the second app in full. But you'll see a bar in the middle that is the divider for multiwindow. I don't know something im missing or something. Will post pics later So you can see what im talking about.
I'm drooling with anticipation. ..I hope you figure it out!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
This is as far as I have. I have modified the following
SecSettings.apk to add the multiwindow option
android.policy.jar
services.jar (I saw multiwindow smali inside so I did not modify any of it)
Added:
FlashBarService.apk (Taken from the N7000)
multiwindow.jar
com.sec.android.app.multiwindow.xml
com.sec.feature.flashbar.xml
com.sec.feature.multiwindow.phone.xml
com.sec.feature.multiwindow.xml
I dont know if I'm missing other things to get it fully working. Im just learning.

I believe lildoggs may be somewhere in the general direction. I've been reading threads from the n7000 and note 2 threads about modding apps to be capable with multiwindow, if they aren't already supported. So if you can install the browser and maybe messenger app from the korean note, and they work that would be great. If not maybe try this tutorial from this thread to modify a few apps yourself and see if it works.
also check out this multi window manager app from the playstore if indeed you did get it working to maybe mod an app. I'm not dev, but just throwing out some things I think may be of some use to you.
I'm currently at work but will try them when I get home. Like I mentioned before from my research I see that we already have the smali files for multiwindow inside services.jar. Maybe we need the apps to be compatible.
Good luck man.

Adding more apps to multi window

I've seen some hacks for a few of the other samsung phones that let you add other apps to the multi window view instead of just the built in apps. Just wondering if any one has found a way to do that on our mega 6.3 yet?
you need to be on deodexed rom, it will be easy to mod.
Ok, thank you. I'll wait for a deodexed stock rom to show up.
Still waiting for the ClockWorkMod recovery to work, then we'll be in business..
I kind of knew this coming into this phone as the dev community probably wouldn't be as large as the flag ship phones, but the phone has been really good so far with the exception of the headphone volume being very low.

Missing my note 3 all app on multiwindow.

However, if you are saying that you can't get all apps to appear in Multi Window on the Note 4, then I am not sure what you're on about.
For example, this app works just fine.

I'm using a stock ROM. Maybe that's the difference.

Hi, good to see you also
In that case, I'm not sure why the OP's having issues.

Mine is stock and only rooted.
But my note 3 was snapdragon and working perfectly but my note 4 is exynos. Maybe this is the problem?

Instal Xposed installer
Reboot
Instal module Wanam Xposed
Reboot
In module Wanam, go to system, multiwindows, sélect apps and reboot.

With such a detailed description, I can honestly say I have no idea what you are talking about.
However, if you are saying that you can't get all apps to appear in Multi Window on the Note 4, then I am not sure what you're on about.
For example, this app works just fine.

Are you able to put any app into the multiwindow tab? I was able to get apps on the big tab but when I drag certain apps to the multiwindow tab it doesn't stick.
Edit: I was able to get all the apps to the mule tab by hitting the reset button

I downloaded pen window manager and multi window manager on Playstore and it worked perfect, Dont restore them, cause they will force close.

I have the Exynos version (N910U) and on the rooted stock rom. The pen window manager which I downloaded from playstore worked perfectly for me.

Well, this app requires Xposed which renders the device sluggish and useless

I tried that and initially I added only a couple of apps to see if it works and it worked perfectly but upon adding more apps it stopped working for me. So I had to delete it. No workaround yet
1. go Wanam xposed > system > multi window, select multi window apps
2. after choose the app
3. reboot
4. go multi window setting (build in ) one
5. drag new added app from left to right
enjoy~

Hmm you've had bad experiences with xposed by the sounds of it. I've used it on my N2 and now on this N4....it's brilliant.
For me it's the best advertisement to my unrooted friends why to root.
