iloome or spigen? - Galaxy Note 3 Accessories

It seems like two of the more popular TG companys are iloome and spigen. Which one would be a better choice and in your opinion why?
TG screen is going to be paired to a UAG case if that makes a difference

Theres a big thread about it and other guards here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2441894
The consensus I gathered is that they both have the same cutouts and overall clarity, but the spigen takes the slight lead with a better coating leading to more smoothness and fingerprint resistance. That being said it comes at a price of +$15. I'm holding off till black friday/cyber week to see any deals arrise at which point I'll either go with the deal or order an iLoome.

yeah im on page 35 of the thread lol. Reading through 60+pages and keeping everything straight could be an all day task hahah

ya haha it's quite the lengthy one. I personally wish they'd have a camera cutoutt, even if its minor degradation of quality from the glass, I'd rather have the cutout, but hate the massive top cutout ones.

I actually like iloome flex, you can barely tell it's on there. After a week of use the screen is just as slick as without the screen protector but it did drag a bit when it was brand new on the screen. I have a Glas t.r as back up for when/if the iLoome flex needs to be replaced.

Haha, funny you say that. I have the glas.tr and it feels exactly as if it's not there. The smoothness is just solid. I never believed in screen protectors until I got this one for my Note 3. I learned my lesson from my Note 2 that got a random scratch from maybe keys in the pocket or something. Either way, you won't be disappointed. Others complained about the glas.t, so that's why I got the glas.tr. Great decision.

I have the glastr Spigen on my Note 2 and I absolutely love it.
When I got the Note 3 I immediately ordered the same one for it, but I have had two Spigens for the N3 now & both where defective.
At that point, I decided to go a different route & ordered the ilhoome flex. The flex went on perfectly, it is completely invisible.
The flex is not quite as slick as the Spigen & doesn't reject fingerprints & smudges as well as the Spigen, but it is also completely invisible as opposed to the thick kinda ugly Spigen.

You set on getting a glass SP?
SwiftKey'ed from my White Sprint Note 3 via XDA Premium

Now I am using XGear and it's good (MIME cracked so I had to replace).

Spigen one....and I really like their products....

I have the Iloome and it's great. It maybe possible that the Spigen is a by hair smoother though I'm not going to take the Iloome off and spring another $50 nzd just to find out.
I don't think you'll find many people who can give an honest comparison for this reason. Besides the obvious expense, fitting a screen protector is a real pain.
At the end of the day the Spigen may be slightly better but it's certainly not twice as good yet it costs almost twice as much. Something to think about.

how were they defective?

I have used both and the Spigen is the best over all. As said in second post they both have the same cutout however the Spigen glass resistance to fingerprint is unmatched. The iloome while easy to clean it attracts fingerprints like a mirror. I returned the Spigen due to the cut not been accurate enough to sit flush with Spigen Neo Hybrid case. The iloome sits flush with my Spigen Neo Hybrid Case so no trapped dirt.

Skip both of those and get a Mime. Best one I've ever used by far. Slick, no bubbles, no gaps, easy installation. Make sure you add a home button on your order for $1. I'm pretty OCD and I couldn't get it lined up like I wanted it. Applied it and removed it about 15 times until I got it just right. This thing is perfect

Just fyi.. just got my last email from iloome. (promptly emailing me on a daily basis (2 days) to get this resolved))... unfortunately I believe this is one in a million but the adhesive on the tip top right was not tacky enough to adhere down and hold. (first case out of the 100's of reviews i've read.. so i asuume the chances of it happening again are at least one in a 1000.....(i have bad luck that somehow forms a field around me.... at work they call me the black cat because things seem to just start breaking down when i'm around not touching a thing.. lol) ANYWAY..... I have to say iLoome tech/help support was A++ Class... they were very apologetic.... basically a picture sent and even thouugh they could not see any issues from there end (hard to take a pic of a clear screen) they apologized completely.... told me steps to take to get a new one shipped out... and i need not ship the other one back.... can't ask for better customer service then that..... best i've probably ever had actually.. as far as screen protectors go I will order from them from here on out just because of the way they treated me as a customer and how prompt they were to make it right

I would agree...a glass screen protector is merely that. some may be a bit better then others but by bit i do mean bit..... if you want to pay twice the cost..... triple the cost etc... for that bit that is your choice.... i payed the amount i payed for the flex.. and that was considerably cheap really... considering this is what happens when u drop a phone from 8 foot or lower (with a decent.. and i mean decent phone cover on it) it's going to shatter that 10-50 dollar screen protector depending on if it lands on that sweet spot.... and in 95% of the cases it may very well do that. the rest are going to shatter the "outter" glass that you applied to it.... NOW the question is did you buy from a reputable company.... I think we can all admit who is reputable and who isn't just from the debate on xda (sorry text is a bit jumped been sick)

[Q] Favorite Screen Protector?

Just got my first screen scratch on my new Rezound yesterday and have been kicking myself ever since. I've used screen protectors in the past on my tablets, but I personally didn't like the way they felt. They felt plasticky and cheap, whereas the glass screens were so smooth and premium-feeling.
My question to you, the Internet, is about screen protectors. Which one do you like most? Which one feels most like glass/is least noticeable/etc.?
(I searched, but most of the recommended ones in other threads are not produced for the Rezound yet.)
I havent found any legit ones on ebay yet. I like the rubbery film protectors not the hard plastic ones. My favorite for the Inc1 and 2 was the NakedShield. Those were awesome. Couldnt even tell there was anything on it.
I bought one from ebay by "xtreme guard" and it was awful. Pretty good materials but terrible shipping. I got several replacements from him because he ships them alone in an envelope and they come stuck to the side and rip when taken out. I told him several times and attempted to send him pictures of me opening the envelope and seeing the destroyed product but he didnt care
I have one from verizon that I got when I purchased the phone and it's ok, but I have used the seidio ultimate screen guard on every phone I've had since the Evo 4g on Sprint and I really like the feel of them. It's really clear, goes on easy and doesn't feel sticky. I would recommend them.
http://www.seidioonline.com/htc-rezound-screen-guard-protector-p/spm1htrzd.htm
I like the rubbery kind cause they don't scratch or mar.
I use the Ghost Armor brand.
It's crystal clear.
Smooth but not plastic feel.
Some people talk about orange peel effect, for me I only see it if I hold the phone at extreme angle. I never see it or feel it in actual use.
The Ghost Armor seems to be more finger oil resistant than nakedd or the plastic static screen protectors.
And with Ghost's you get life time replacements for your device.
They also have kiosk in malls, where they do installs and replacements.
Yeah $5 replacements and $20 for initial product and install. Ebay protector costs $2 and does the same thing plus I don't have to stick it in an oven or coat it in water.
anybody find one that covers the whole screen including the camer, LED and light sensor?
I've been using (and loving) Skinomi. Yeah, with that name it sounds like it should be sold in a sex shop, but it's a fantastic screen protector. It feels like the bare glass, is crystal clear, and can be put on easily.
You know, now that I think about it, maybe it SHOULD be sold in a sex shop...

Well that's one way to look at it. My previous phone I put the full body Ghost armor on myself, went like 9 months, no case, then it started to peel around the edges got it re-skinned for 5 and it lasted another 18 months until I got this phone.
I tried those static protectors and I just don't like the feel, and they get smudges galore.
E-bay may have something just as good or better but I don't know what it is, and don't have the time to waste buying from a bunch of different places. There's probably a thousand choices on eBay, but I have no clue which is good or if they are even consistent with what they sell. They may be getting screen protectors from several manufacturers.
I'm not certain, but I thought the 5 buck replacement is only if you have it re-installed at a kiosk?
I picked up the clear Halo ones off of Amazon, and am really happy. Don't like the rubbery Zagg ones, and don't like the anti-glare ones as they seem to mess with the clearness of the screen.
I bought the clear Verizon ones when I picked up the phone, and while they are clear, they scratch very easily.
I've had the Halo ones for about a week. They are just as clear, and haven't scratched yet. They fit better than the Verizon, a bit wider so they cover edge to edge, but not quite tall enough. (When you install them, start at the top)
http://www.amazon.com/Halo-Screen-P...ZBEI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1327964467&sr=8-1
so far the Seido ultimate screen guards have satisfied me, as clear as the glass, no distortions at any angle... I do recommend!
Just got a second one from "Clear Freak" on ebay. He sent me one for the wrong phone. So I'm having no luck with eBay protectors. I trimmed it to fit but wouldnt advise it. I do tint all day so it came pretty easy to me
Pretty happy with the one that came with my otterbox. tried the Zagg but didnt get along with that one.
I have the REALOOK Crystal Clear one. works very well and no distortions. fits the front plate perfectly from edge to edge. It covers the capacitive buttons, camera hole, and proximity sensor.
Applied in a steamed bathroom and result had no air bubbles.

Not a good idea. Had several people call in with water damage on their phones and I had to tell em tough luck. Doesn't matter if it actually has water damage just if the external or internal sticker turns pink

I just got in my Boxwave Crystal Clear today and it fits over the entire glass top to bottom with a cutout for the front facing camera. I had one on my Dinc for 2 years and it was great--got very view scratches--and I like the feel on the screen. They are expensive but can be removed, cleaned, and replaced.

I've had these for about a month, and they're the best. It still feels like you just have the glass on it still, and it really does cover every part of the glass area. You honestly forget there's anything on it.

I love my ZAGG protector. They're difficult to put on, but it's worth it. Had one for the DInc and it lasted the entire two years until my upgrade, and is still currently on there! I don't get the rubbery feel that others mentioned, mine is smooth as a baby's bottom.

Press your fingernail into the black area above or below the screen. You will see it is not hard like the bare glass. That small bit of give is what is being described. The static screen protectors don't have that.

Buff Screen Protector

Anyone pick this up for the Note?
Here a link to the demo on slash gear
http://www.slashgear.com/buff-iphone-screen-protector-repels-bricks-and-hammers-20223850/
There on amazon and ebay for the note as well as the iphone.
Looking for anyone that has gotten there hands on this thing is real or bs marketing.
It looks like crap to me. I suppose if you're a fan of zagg/ghost armor style protectors it would be ok, because it seems to be the same kind of rubbery material. As for all of the tests, it looks like they have it sitting on a couple of shock absorbing mats, which probably take way more of the energy than the protector. The clue to this is how much it bounces when the guy hits it with the hammer. He can't hold it still. I guarantee I could hold it still on a solid, unforgiving surface.
Not trying to burst your bubble, just saying what I got out of the video.

Well, you have to understand what they are showing and what they aren't, and what they are implying.
They are implying that:
1. With this screen protector your screen will resist scratches from various objects (true since the protector is very thick and unless it tears you aren't touching the screen, same with any protector)
2. It will keep your screen from breaking when impacted by various objects. you should be a lot more skeptical here. How much is the method (the cup and hammer were blunt surfaces, the brick they "threw" at an angle, they did not impact with it... why not you should ask yourself...).
What they aren't showing you is:
1. What does the screen actually look like with the protector on (in video one it looks hideous, not just the spots where it's coming off, but the texture was terrible).
2. What does the phone's screen alone do in these same situations? Is it "really" making your screen "invulnerable"? Certainly it's helping but is the added protection worth the poor looks?
3. How does it do with fingerprints?
4. Is it scratch resistant "at all?". They don't show you enough to know.
I can run over to a local auto shop that installs "clear bra", cut a piece out to fit my phone, and probably have a similar result as this. But how good will it look is the question.
Looks decent on the iPhone after install.

I never had much luck with screen protectors but I might take the leap.
I would have pulled the trigger already if the stupid phrase " if it looks to be to be true,it probably is" didn't keep ringing thru my head

I have the exact same skepticism. I really think a screen could take quite a beating from a plastic cup. And it looked like they were giving it liberators with the hammer. Their terrible mic and zoomed in view made it sound and look a lot harder than they were probably hitting it.
Also, the thing that came to mind in both videos is that they have stuff underneath the phones both times. Even a thin layer of foam under that paper would make a world of difference in cushioning. I wanna see the phone firmly planted on concrete or a solid table while they hit it.
I just can't help but think, "if it looks too good to be true, it probably is."

I do not think thats a plastic cup. I got one of those starbucks cup and it is heavy and solid. I did buy the film and have it on my Note. Have not had the courage to put a hammer or anything to it yet. I do know that it did save my screen when my I dropped my phone while talking on it and landed in gravel face down. Right, now the product is legit for me, but did not have the balls to actually hit it hard yet.

How does it feel to swipe or touch, I hope not like the zagg types?
it appears a better and cheaper rival has entered the ring
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1728135
I have dropped my phone about 4 times now with the screen protector from Buff Armor and so far no damage. Couple my other friends just got the Buff Armor screen protector also when they saw mine being dropped. I dropped it on to concrete sidewalk face first. Only thing damaged was my cheap case I bought to protect the sides. For me the product works and legit. It does not even feel gel like at all compared to Zagg or the others.
Clear plex is not that good
Well, buddy of mine went to go buy the clear plex screen protector for cheaper than mine. The quality, the clearness, the durability was not there compared to what they advertizied. It took him 20 minutes to put the film on his phone and he had to use their liquid solution to apply it. The packaging came in a plastic ziplock bag and did not look professional at all. There is no warranty on the product and also nothing that made it amazing for $14.99. He saw my screen resolution compared to his and it did not even come close.
I will post up more updates about Buff Armor screen protector vs. Clear plex as the testing begins.

The Results of Clear Plex and Buff Armor Screen protector.
Buff Armor's is a little thickers, visibility is really clear, does not stretch, easy install, and does help form impacts as dropping and accidental impacts from being in the pocket, and smooth surface.
Clear Plex is a little more thinner, a little cheaper in price, better than Zagg but not quite as Buff Armors, hard non stretchable plastic, protects from real minor impacts, smooth surface, and cracked the screen dropping on hard surfaces.
Overall, I think Buff Armor's is better. I bought the iphone 4 ones too for my family after I had it on my Note. The clarity for the film is absolutely amazing for how thick the film is and also the screen response. That was my most worries about it, but I am glad I made the right decision. Oh, by the way my friend got a new note after claiming and paying the deductable for the insurance and he also got the Buff Armor Screen protector.
Hope this helps you guys out. This is just my review and opinion on the products.
It looks similar to the Wrapsol protectors.
That video looks awfully painful...

I'm currently running this combo and I honestly don't believe that I could be happier with anything other than my Black UAG case with the "Nillkin Amazing H+" Tempered Glass Protector. Everything looks GREAT, feels like it could be an oem "industrial" variant of the Note 3, and best of all, SUPERIOR protection all around the phone. I feel much, much more confident about the security and durability of my phone now that I've got it completely wrapped up all the way around. The Nillkin Amazing H+ TGP is a very solid, yet buttery smooth, screen protector that bonds to the screen sooooo well that no one else even knows that I've got a TGP on the front screen. The edges of this protector are sooo smoothly rounded over to where it meets the edges of my Note 3 that you don't really feel any gap in screen coverage at all. You can run your fingers up the side of the phone and they just glide right on up and over to the front of the phone ALMOST without even knowing that the TGP and the frame of the phone are totally separate pieces.
At first I was skeptical that this would work with my UAG case because before I had any kind of screen protector on the phone, it was already a very tight squeeze to fit it in the UAG case. I felt almost certain that any added thickness to the phone itself(the thickness of the TGP) would render my UAG case useless, but that was not the case. Yea, it took a tad bit more wiggling the phone around while trying to stuff it in the UAG case, but it popped right on in there just fine.
Everything fits together just wonderfully and I'm 100% satisfied that I went this route. I have no doubt in my mind that my VERY expensive Note 3 is protected from any drops, scratches, etc.(...not waterproof though =/ ) about as well as it's ever gonna be. Before I had my phone wrapped in this kinda of stellar protection, I would hardly let anyone use my phone for anything at all, let alone even touch it! But now, I feel comfortable enough that I don't hardly hesitate when 4-year old son asks me if I will let him hold my phone to flip through picture albums, watch his favorite movies and TV shows, play Angry Birds, or even draw me a silly picture with the S-Pen. If I ever, and that's big "IF", find myself in the market for a case/screen protector combo for this phone again in the future, I can just stop the search right there, dead in its tracks.....I'll be ordering the UAG case and Nillkin Amazing H+ Tempered Glass Screen Protector and calling it a day!!
....and one more thing....you better believe it...given the product availability and high rate of tech advancements we're currently experiencing, this combo WILL be part of my "arsenal" of accessories for my next phone, whatever that may be...Note 4?

So tempted to get one too after seeing so many positive reviews on UAG case. But there's one thing that bothers me according to some reviews on amazon, has UAG revised on the design and left a cutout for the thermal sensor below the bottom right of the bezel?

yes...
I have the same combo but my tempered glass is brando 00.2mm. No problems with fitting and doesnt bury the home button. You will not even notice that it is tempered glass since it is soooo thin. I suggest you consider it.

Where did you get your Nillkin TPG? I've looked on ebay but they all ship from China. I know they are Chinese but I fell more comfortable when they ship from the US. UAG cases are awesome btw. I have the white and black one.

I ordered mine with my Amazon Prime account in the weeeee hours of Thursday, January 16th around like 3:00am-4:00am and got a knock on my door from the UPS man the very next day, Friday, January 17th around 2:45pm....that right there is why I LOVE Amazon Prime!! =) Given that, you don't need to worry one bit about putting your money out there on Ebay to a sketchy/iffy merchant on the other side of the planet in China, while not really knowing if you'll receive your order in 2 weeks, 3 weeks, 1 month...or hell, quite possibly not even at all !! That's why I always try my darndest to stick with the "Fulfilled by Amazon" items on Amazon.com. Sooooo, anyway...lol...I got a little side-tracked there...my bad! :silly:
Anyway, what I was gettin at, was where I got my Nillkin TGP. I ordered it on Amazon and it was a "Fulfilled by Amazon" item, so I didn't have much of anything to worry about there. Just to make things a LOT quicker and a little bit more simplified for ya, I'll point ya in the right direction. Seriously though, click the link to Amazon at the bottom of this post, check out the Nillkin Amazing H+ TGP listing, gravitate the cursor on over towards the right side of the page and click "Add to Cart" and be done with it. A few days later when you receive it and carefully install it, you'll be looking this thread up to tell us just the same type of things that I also mentioned in my previous post..guaranteed.(Well, assuming that everything went well regarding your order, packaging quality, and item shipment, etc.)
Yea, it may only have a few customer reviews SO FAR, but take that with a grain of salt. As soon as I can get a spare chance, I'll also be adding my review for this Nillkin TGP. So don't hesitate to order one of these! Assuming that you know how to install it properly, or at least if you don't already know, do your homework and read all the advice here on these forums, read the instructions that come in the package (if you need to) and take your time putting it on your screen and you should be as happy of a customer as I am! Sooo, anyway, here's the link,,,,finalllllyyyy!!! lol :good:
Amazon: "Nillkin Amazing H+ Tempered Glass Protector"

[REVIEW] Nillkin 9H Tempered Glass Screen Protector

I hate the drag feeling of many plastic screen protectors so I have had a naked screen on all my phones until now! This is my first glass screen protector and so far it has been excellent.
It was very easy to apply. I was impressed with how it seemed almost to "adhere itself" when you place it upon the screen. Almost free of any air bubbles, creases, etc.
Cleaned the screen with the supplied wipes, dropped the protector on, and pushed the imperfections out with my fingers and it came out great.
It comes with badly translated instructions but you are given more than enough tools to get the job done right.
Sorry I don't have any pictures of it on the phone, I can add some, if anyone wants that.
I think it's well worth the price!
Here is where it can be bought on Amazon:

I love this screen protector. The price is very cheap for the quality of the product. I got mine here

very easy to remove and leaves no residue of any type or damage.
Can you post a photo of note with the protector?
After having this for about 3 months now, I can easily say this is absolutely the best bang for your buck. My brother went with the cheaper 8 dollar eBay one and its kicking himself for not getting this instead. Installation is easy and allows room for error (can be removed and re-applied), smooth to the touch (necessary for swipe texting) and is still smooth 3 months later.

It is a good purchase pricewise. But after 3 months of use, tiny scratches are appearing on the protector. I wouldn't be mumling about it, but most of the time I use the pouch case when I cary the phone in the pocket. So scratches were a surprise for me. Therefore the claimed 9H of the glass is a bit doubtful.
I almost sprung for this myself until I saw a friend of mine who got this Nillkin on his phone and the leftmost bottom edge would not stick perfectly. You could fit a fingernail underneath it. Seems like the luck of the draw.
I had mine installed at a kiosk just to make sure that if any problem materialized, they could replace it themselves immediately. I forgot the brand, but the fit was perfect.

Bought a Nillkin Tempered GLass for my Note 3. Guess what.....after a month, the screen cracked by itself! I'm very sure it was not caused by wrong handling nor impact. All this 9H hype by Nillkin is just bull!

And why is your brother kicking himself? I have the cheapo ebay one and I have zero complaints. My first protector was a $20-something (shipped) Glass-M which simply broke in my pocket because I leaned somewhere too hard (xperia z1). I am very happy with my $7 ebay deal for my new note 3.
I'm not trying to start an argument, I'm just curious.
Also, sorry for slight off topic.

Just an expression lol, but mainly because it is much less smooth and the non rounded corners bug him. I'm sure there are better ones in eBay, but it's luck of the draw. Images weren't correct in his case.

Bodyguardz Pure

I'm probably not going to get alot of fans for this one due to the price but I can vouch for the quality of the Bodyguarz Pure tempered glass screen protector. I had one of these on my iPhone for over a year and it never lost its oleophobic coating, got one scratch or chipped.
I decided to go the cheap route on my G3 and purchased an i-Blason off Amazon. I installed it today was really disappointed. It chipped on the corner very easily and it was already a fingerprint magnet out of the box although it said it had multiple coatings. I pulled it off and headed down to the AT&T store and grabbed a Bodyguardz. Its $35 just like the Zagg or Spigen. It has a lifetime warranty. I have owned the Spigen and Zagg on other family members phones and each has their pros and cons. The Spigen is very nice but can be spotty on customer service. I have also had issues with all of the Spigens seating solidly around the edges. They always seem to have spots the adhesive is not good. The Zagg (on a Galaxy S4) seems to be good but lost its coating quickly as well. The Bodyguardz has the best oleo coating hands down. Its drawbacks are thickness (.4mm) and edges are not rounded. Still I can easily over look these things as the oleo coating is my #1 priority. Another thing I like is the Pure has a cutout for the earpiece which most of the cheaper ones do not protect the edge of the screen around the earpiece.
Anyway, for those heading into the AT&T store tomorrow check these out.
UPDATE: Many are experiencing touch sensitivity issues and have returned this shield. I also had the same issues.
I was a fan of the bodyguardz glass screen protector I had for my old note 2. I was sad when I couldn't find one from them for my g2.
Do they have ones for the g3 listed on their site?
Not sure if they are listed on the site. I just went in and picked one up at the store. If you are Premier, I would think they can be ordered though.
Do u find the accuracy and sensitivity are less with this protector? It seems that way to me. U are absolutely right about the oleophobic coating though. And marks that do appear, disappear on their own through coming in contact with fabric from my pocket

I took mine off. It definitely affected the screens sensitivity. I got sick of tapping the same icon 5 times before it would register. I wasted 35 dollars. I'm awaiting my nillkin screen protector. It's thinner and hopefully doesn't affect screen responsiveness. The oleophobic coating is great though.

There's a discussion at Android Central about this as well. I'm going to take mine off and return it.

I recommend Nillkin as well. I've had it on my last couple of phones and it amazing quality for the price. They make great products.
For $6.74, seriously.

Sorry I didn't come back to this thread and edit my original post. I also returned mine over this past weekend. I did love the coating but I too experienced some sensitivity issues. I didn't even read about them but got fed up and got my money back.
I decided to go with the iCarez off Amazon.

At $8.95 it is unbelievable. It has rounded edges and is almost an exact clone of the Zagg that costs $40. Even the installation method is exactly the same. It is thinner at .33mm and I haven;t noticed any touch sensitivity issues at all.

Its full screen but does not have the cutout for the earpiece, its just the cutaway. If you can, go to a Best Buy Store and ask to see a Zagg. Usually someone in their mobile dept will have one on their G3 or S5. That will give you an idea of the quality, thickness, etc. It is exactly the same. I'm guessing same plant in china makes them and Zagg just overcharges.

Is the screen look really smooth with no air bubbles?
Im looking for a tempered glass screen protector which tapers (or just going) around the screen at the edges.
I ordered one from ebay, but the top of the screen is not defended because the cut part. From the other hand, this is not going around at the edges...
