[Q] [HELP] [Samsung S4 I545 VRUDMI1] [Looked Bootloader] Need a recovery that works. - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Dear XDA Developers Comunity,
First of all, I really appreciate the hard work to keep us satisfied with the updates and improvements in technological systems.
Yesterday, I made my first Root on my phone ( Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 ).... unfortunately brings with the latest version and has the VRUMI1 basis, I have understood that the Bootloader is locked, however, if anyone has had the honor of installing any Recovery to a phone with the same version as mine, I would appreciate very much if you indicate me how to do it.
What have I done so far?
Rooted my phone
I rooted my phone very easy following the steps of ..... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2487142 (Thanks beanstown106 for this)

Then I´ve been looking for a recovery like CWM or TWRP but No luck.
.............I have tried several processes,
********* I tried via ROM Manager (CWM Recovery does not work The me .... says it installed, but it always works the recovery system default.)
********* I tried via GooManager (But the download never starts, I do not understand how bad could it be their the download servers).
********* I tried via Loki_Flash but I indicates this message "Loki about version does not match device" till after I understood that this way of flashing devices is to the MDK basis only.

I never get tired to find a solution, I hope to find soon .... I appreciate your help.

Oh lordy, please read and search the threads, you already managed to read enough to get as far as you did. You can install Safe Strap, although it is a bit buggy on MI1 from what I have read. No custom recovery option. Just root and debloat and be happy, that is the best route for now. See if 4.4 can bring some new exploits. I was rooted on MI1, I just followed the thread to upgrade to MJ7 and stay rooted. I am not dealing with safe strap, just seems like too much work for a phone that already works great.

Thanks for reply

I really appreciate your prompt response. As you see, I am a new user to this kind of things. But still I seek the opportunity to find the best sources to make these changes on my phone and be lucky with testing ROMs and the best Deployed Apps .... Yes I have read that so far no method for Recovery, but you never know if someone has made work and willing to show how.
I have read about Safestrip, but I see there are errors with the Bootloader, do you think this could work for me?.
BTW Can you please give me more information about "debloat"? Thank you very much my friend.

Yes, actually you do know, because anyone that has made it work will post to XDA that they did it.
Relax. The S4 is a nice phone as it is, enjoy it for now. Pay attention here at your leisure for any new developments if you must.

There's still a huge bounty if someone gets a bootloader unlock. I doubt if somebody figured it out they would turn down a huge chunk of money and not tell anyone about it.
Don't worry, if someone unlocks the bootloader it will be all over XDA.

[Q] New guy - basic root

Alright guys, you all are going to think, "Wow what the heck is a 15 year old doing on these forums,". Well, I'm here to customize my phone in different ways and also soon become a developer making ROM's and etc. So i would appreciate all the help i could get. I just got the S4 from Verizon, and I've been trying to change it, as TouchWiz is getting pretty boring. And I'm a teenager, so dont expect me to spend money on things that you guys might spend on, because i know my parents wont do that. I was an avid Apple Dev, and then i made the switch to android. Xcode, Cocoa, objective-c is what im used to, and im trying to learn about android's basic roots. I would appreciate all the help i get.
Thanks,
ppat324wi
Welcome to the forum, by a fellow 15 year old (;
First things first, you should probably make sure you have MDK on your S4 before you try anything, read up on it in the forums.

Here's the root method for ME7.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2380325
Note this is root only, there is currently no unlocked bootloader, which means no custom roms. But you can still do a lot with root access. For instance I froze all of the bloatware using the list provided in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2395307
I now get about 24 hours of battery and a very zippy phone! I may be just fine with that improvement alone to not be concerned with custom roms. (well maybe until someone makes a kitkat rom).
There is a programmer working on porting a method for adding custom roms, called safestrap. You can follow the progress here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2441441
Note that the first post mentions installation instructions, but currently this is in proof of concept stages so I would not advise installing until the method has been worked out.

{tried} failed new to lg bootloader (have looked)

hey all, new to lg bootloader unlock, not soo much on other devices, my personal fav. (hero) one of my 1st. anyway, i have read 4 dif ways of unlocking the bootloader, and some i rtied and some i did not (yet) try due to being kindah scared. plz inform me which is the best way and is there something i missed, i have looked around all day and really.... there has to be a better way. (1) chinese method {http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2439667 / http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2553547} allthou i have found many links this one explains it the best due to its simplicity, 2 the whacked out method {http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2277639} this i wasnt ready to try yet as i work 18 hours a day and i need to get up at 5 tomorow. amen to the working men. 3 + 4 were just stupid sounding so ill avoid them but the 2 main ones were posted by many people in many fasions. #1 i tried says my phone is rooted when checking is root checker, but its not really because a. i cannot run apps which require root and b. how could i be if my bootloader is not unlocked. im tired and drunk from all this after work work.... plz someone point me twords an easier way to do this. and if there isnt any since march 2013 then at least tell me that #2 will work if i do it right. ty
ps. this is not a question but a demand and sorry for the grammer havent been in the us in ages.
First, wrong section. This should be in questions or general section.
Second, there's a chance LG really did lock more recent users out of their bootloaders. Possibly with a OTA update, or just manufactured that way. It's not a process others would hold your hand through, and it's beyond frustrating to even help when also being stuck on a locked bootloader as well
The unlocked users have tried to the best of their ability to explain what the process is, and it's been reposted over and over and over so now it's a whole big mess and it's really confusing. The oldest guides worked best and proved to help out more users.
All I can say at this point is good luck, hope you figure it out because everyone else is just as stuck at this as you are.

[Q] Need Custom Bootloader & ROM "How To" Help

Hey. After spending hours trying to discover a working method to root my Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4, I've succeeded. Now, I want to try to install some sort of bootloader like TWRP or something so I can install a custom ROM. What do I install and HOW do I install a bootloader? I'm confused. I also want to install the the latest CyanogenMod for it. I think I can do that on my own after getting a bootloader installed on my phone, but what file am I supposed to be installing is the question. Thank you for any and all help. This is my first smartphone, so I'm trying to figure this out.

Right now the bootloader is still locked down for the Verizon (unless your phone is on the MDK bootloader). So unfortunately you won't be able to do more than root the phone. You can use Safestrap to use some ROMs, but I don't think CM exists for the Verizon S4.

Oh, that's a shame. I was looking forward to this part. I wondered why I only found outdated information or a lack of information. I don't even know what a good ROM would be for this phone if there's no Cyanogen for it. Well I appreciate your reply very much. Thank you.

There is a Cyanogen build for the Verizon GS4 but as mentioned, only for folks with the MDK bootloader. Only TouchWiz based roms can be used with SafeStrap - no AOSP based roms (yet).
To see what bootlader you are on, just go to ABOUT PHONE under settings.

Need help making a couple choices

Hey guys, so the last phone I rooted and had a bootstrap on with custom roms was the Motorola Droid x2. We couldn't even get into the kernel. So with that being said I've acquired super user on my g3 months ago to freeze apps. But now I don't depend on my phone like I did then for work. So I want to do the whole thing and I'm unsure what choices to make. I'm not looking for a guide for installing stuff (at least not yet ) just trying to get suggestions and hopefully good recommendations.
So here's the main point for the post
TLDR!!!!!
Current android version 5.0.1
kernels- unlock it? Change it? Not sure what all you can actually do with that.
Bootstrap- clock work mod? Or any other one can't think of names but need something to load roms
Rom for battery and power- cyanogenmod is what I use to run on the x2 not sure if it's still one of the best?
Anything else I missed that I should get and check out?
Thanks in advance
Put TWRP custom recovery on your phone with the autorec TWRP app by @bender_007, in the General section of the non-variant specific G3 sections. Once you give the app superuser permissions it looks like it's hung up but give it 10-30 seconds because it's backing up your current recovery. Then click the button to install TWRP. Download the latest TWRP v2.8.7.0 from its thread also somewhere in the G3 sections, and flash it from your current TWRP.
I use @xdabbeb 's VS985 v2.0 ROM, which is based on the latest official LG ROM, build 35B, based on Android 5.1.1. Very happy with it, very smooth and great on battery.
I haven't heard the term bootstrap with regards to custom recoveries. I'd suggest just calling them custom recoveries.
Thanks for your input it's been a while after I read it I was like yep it's custom recoveries lol thank you again

Unfortunately this device will likely be locked just like the J327T.
I have been watching that thread and everything that has been tried is pretty much what I attempted to explain would be a waste of time.
The combination firmware is useless to gain root on nougat.
No auto root is ever gonna work either and neither is Flashfire or SuperSU.
There is a list of reasons why these things won't work, but I'll not waste my time in that thread explaining why.
I don't mind explaining further why here. Just so others will not waste efforts like on the J327T thread.
I'll let that thread run its course until all avenues have reached their inevitable dead ends.
They are harsh words, but unfortunately they are truth.
Suffice to say that the only real way for this device to see root is either an unlocked bootloader (highly unlikely), a proper engineering binary or an exploit is released for Android 7.
If an exploit is found then Kingroot will almost certainly incorporate it in their Software and then there maybe a chance that the combination binary (not the whole firmware) will help get root.
If anyone can confirm for sure this device doesn't have a locked bootloader then I'd be happy to work on it.

Yes there is a fairly easy way.
Also you need to read my posts in that thread you linked.
I have requested several times for it to be closed.
Nothing in that thread will work.
Again it comes down to people who don't understand what they are posting.
It's not me being negative, these things just don't work. If you want me to go in to detail for why then I can explain.

No, do bother going into detail, i prolly wouldnt understand.
If/When you work on either the J327T or J727T, i'm here to test....
BTW Chimera is saying them can root both devices. Before i think of putting up the money, what are your thoughts? At that point i might be rooted but no recovery
J727T/1 Recovery/Root (SS SafeStrap)???
Would this work?
Or be a good place to start, building off it???
IF I remember right, it was used for the S4 or S5 att, with same issue. It would set up recovery after bootloader, or something like that. I'm no noon, but not a senior either.
Just a suggestion??
Would be great if someone could implement it to work??
What u think?
