[GUIDE] How To S-OFF, Unlock, Install Custom Recovery-ALL IN ONE!! HTC EVO 3D (CDMA) - HTC EVO 3D

After hours of mess ups I've finally created a COMPLETE (extremely detailed) video (guide) on how to To S-OFF, Unlock, Install Custom Recovery for the HTC EVO 3D (CDMA). There are 4 different parts. The first 2 parts are for the users that have already unlocked boot loader, installed recovery and a ROM. If this is your first time doing any of this to your stock HTC evo 3d (CDMA) then you can skip to part 3. In each video there will be a link in the description for the next part. I hope this works for everyone that watches it and please like, sub. And pass it on to others who need help with this! Thanks again to everyone who has helped me s-off my phone and do all i have done to it today! I LOVE XDA!! Please let me know of anything you don't understand or any problem you run in to (if you do).
Also, the videos might seem long I just want to assure that your HTC EVO 3D is s-off, unlocked, and recovery installed. Please watch all 4 parts and your phone will be all of this!
I am using windows and only know how to do this for (WINDOWS).
Link to part 1 [GUIDE]: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfgar9Flb_c
Please keep this thread Alive as long as possible! Thanks!
I will try this week to look over all of the videos again and create a text [GUIDE] as well.

[Q] Update for HBoot 1.5 for Evo 3D?

I finally got the nerve to try and root my 3D today and all for nothing, with the latest update on the phone you cannot root with the current HBOOT 1.5 until a update is devoloped so how long will it be before we get an update for this?
I am very anxious to root so is there an update coming soon??? PLEASE!!!!!
Sorry guys, As I was writing this post it was aready being answered, well sort of..... I still would like to find out how long it will be before an update will be out.....
you can have root with hboot 1.5. Unlock using HTC's method and install CWM. From there you can install any rom with root access.
Sitting back and watching this one... btw this should be in general or q&a.

Why would you want a semi...cwm is a hit or miss. Plus only previous s-off phones it works on. The unlock is just the.bootloader

ok, i've successfully completed the htc unlock method. trying to install CWM, do you mean rom manager? that doesnt allow me to flash a recovery, comes up with some error.
i'm coming from samsung forums, so this(htc) is all new to me. can you point me in the right direction?
i'm just trying to figure out what you mean by "install cwm".

No, they didn't - they released something they call unlocked, but it can't be easily or reliably rooted. They are playing word games with us.
It's not easy but it can be done if pPl know what they are doing. And id they follow instruction. Mind you I did it without a guide on a Mac.

Help, new to evo 3d

Okay so I got the EVO 3D about 2 days ago and fell in love with it. I just have some questions as a new EVO user.
1. Is rooting this phone dangerous? Has anyone ever bricked their device doing this?
2. What is the difference between the HTC bootloader unlocked and a rooting method on these forums. Oh and what is the best root method?
3. With all the features on the phone as it is, is it necessary to root in the first place
4. If so, what is the best ROM out right now (i heard alot about infected eternity)
5.is sense 3.5 available on this phone?
6. How do I get a working beats audio thing on here?
Thanks you guys,
Ognimnella
Sent from my 3D freaking fingertips using XDA App
1.no. Probably.
2. Depends on what hboot you are. Revolutionary is the best and only I think if you're 1.4.
3. Yes, for sure. So many things you can do with root.
4. I like eternity but I'm on myns warm rim now. Also like miui.
5. Yes there are a few 3.5 roms. Haven't tried them.
6. Beats are included in most roms nowadays but i've seen flashable zips around here somewhere.
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA App
Kay you need to tell us what hboot your on. Also yes root it now there are plenty of good roms out right now. Go with the one you would like the most. I personally like senseless Rom the most cuz it gives you aosp experience with your 4g and 3d. There is a 3.5 Rom right now and it will be updated soon now that sac got his phone running again. The beats file is in the dev section. And its flashable
The diff between HTC method is that you can't flash roms the traditional way you have to flash differently because of the kernal you have to flash kernal in fastboot mode with the htcmethod lame I know. The unrevoked method you can flash roms without doing all the bs which is awesome less work lol let us know your hboot so you can get more help
ok how do I find the hboot on this phone, also my phone is cdma, just a little extra info

Read what root is...and the risk of rooting NO ONE IS RESPONSIBLE OF DAMAGES OR A BROKEN PHONE...
Do it at ur own risk ur resposible for ur own actions , if u don't know what ur doing , u better off getting someone who does or else u will brick ur phone. Flashing wit hboot 1.5 takes time n some knowledge.
Rooting wit 1.4 hboot is easy as 1,2,3!

MIUI guide necessary?

Okay so I am now using miui, and I have found a lot of little tricks and things with the rom. However, when I began using the rom, I was clueless, and didn't know how to do basic functions! Do you guys think that creating a guide via a PDF file (for offline use) with everything miui, from the basic functions all the way down to tips and tricks, would be a benefit for noobs, or just be another space waster?

Just figured i'd add my input on this as well. A guide would be fantastic.
MIUI looks so great but without the 4G (and now 3D) its hard for me to switch to something I don't know. Plus I know there are quite a few *tweaks* that need/should be done to get it running best.

I have to say that I have to exchange the phone, I have try YOUR WAY, and didn't work, but to my satisfaction I took it to sprint and explain why I have put on the post.
They couldn't put back to factory specs.

OK, here is another question: I being watching some of the PRO's and CON's of ICS for my EVO 3D (youtube videos), maybe is not good idea to upgrade to ICS get rid of the phone, get a new one with the new OS, move to Samsung phone. Like I said I could get out of the contract for $70.00 and get a new 2 year contract.
Sell this one as it is, and avoid the head pain someone created for me.
Any suggestion?

If you are s-off do not take the update, there is a 50/50 chance you will loose it and could be weeks before there is a method to get s-off after the update.

Also, if the firmware files don't flash the first time, don't edit the contents of the .zip file and change the device code to make it flash. I bricked an EVO 4G LTE doing that last summer. This was the reason xHausx posted a warning to re-download the firmware files on a stock rooted ROM he uploaded, lol. Lesson learned!
Obvious is obvious....
No need for this thread.
