I confirm this is working, I got Tap and pay setup on 4.3. I didn't had a chance to try to actually tap to pay yet!

Tap and Pay confirmed to work with the latest at Whole Food this morning, even the hipster cashier was blown away, that something his iPhone with a broken screen is not doing!

I'm stock rooted mj7 (used vroot method- ie. no custom recovery). Would this still work if I extracted the apk and dropped it in system/app using root explorer (as well as doing the other steps)?

I dont believe it will work if you are on a Odex'd rom. But if its deodexed it should.
Youd need to copy ALL files that are in the zip. /system and all the subdirectories (to the coordinating subdirectory on the phone) & then (IMPORTANT) FIX PERMISSIONS of each to (rw-r--r--)

Can i ask.... what ROM? And Are you on the new 4.3 bootloader (did you OTA or odin the complete new 4.3 firmware) or are you on the OLD 4.2.2 bootloader? Also, did you odin the new modem(s).....i.e., what does your baseband say under "About Phone"?

I re flashed it, and it installed fine this time. It says I am ready for tap and pay. I will update tomorrow.

OP, you change the part where it only works on deodexed roms, i have successfully set tap and pay on stock rooted odexed rom....heres what you need
1. root explorer to extract the zip file
2. after zip is extracted copy all of contents over to system/apps folders
3 change permissions for every single floder or app( if you don't know how to change permissions you probably shouldn't be attempting this mod)
4 change your NfcNci.apk to NfcNci.apk.bak if not you will have nfc services force closes
5 follow instructions very cafefully if you dont you can bork your phone.....you have been warned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can confirm works on Stock odex MJ7 rooted via vroot. I changed names of all the files this replaced. to bak just incase so I could fix if borked.
and the NfcNci has odex file i changed name on as well.
My only problem is wifi is acting funny now and not sure of the cause since i updated xposed framework and couple modules while i was doing this.
(Anyone know if any of the files replaced would have anything to do with wifi?)

If you're really running stock MJ7 and have TWRP installed, you need to tell us how and claim the bounty for unlocking the bootloader.
What you probably have is MDK bootloader and a ROM built from the MJ7 base. That's not "stock MJ7".
Please prove me wrong - I'd love to have TWRP on my factory stock MJ7.

Sharing Policy
The spirit of Open Source is to share your knowledge and files with the rest of the world so they can improve on what you do when possible. This is also my philosophy and I would never compromise that!
You are free to use this ROM or any part of this ROM any way you like as long as you give proper credits!
Do not use my work if you cannot give proper credits!
Consider this your permission! Please do not PM me asking if its OK to build off this ROM. Permission granted!
However this does not include my CleanROM series of ROMS. Please do not use those without contacting me first!
This ROM is not a CleanROM. Its a stock rooted and all yours!
CSC Files are the files that tell your phone what kind of phone it is. For example; if you use the Verizon Patch files then this will convert the ROM to the Verizon version (sans the data icons) and allow you to access the Verizon Apps in the Play store. It will also set the APN automatically, etc...
This patch also has the correct RIL files and correct APK files, etc... To work with the Verizon Radio....
The patch in the OP can more than likely be applied to any 7105 ROM but I cannot assure you of that.
Please hit Thanks :good:

This is just a stock base people can play with along with the needed Verizon stuff.

Oh no you're still getting something from me. It was your ROM and Beans ROM that I used the most on my S3 besides Paranoid and AOKP. You're getting something from me on Friday
But this is what I like about you. You make different types of ROMs. Like you have the base ROM. You have a ROM that includes aroma so people can add what they want. And you make those super light ROMs that you basically strip every thing down to the bare minimum. You are the man Scott

No, as stated in post #1 and #2 you only need the VZW patch to make this ROM work on the VZW device. I moved / modified over the approriate files that deal with Radio (and MMS, etc).
Flash ROM, Flash Patch, Reboot. Done. You will have latest 7105 base on the VZW version device... And it "should" appear like a VZW ROM to playstore, and radio, etc...
Now... If you are not on a VZW device then dont bother with the patch...
Scott could we download any TW note 2 rom and flash the patch and everthing shoukd be fine?

I cant say that for sure... As long as its 7105 based it "should" work... But you take that risk into your own hands...
BUT I would not recommend using a 7100 base as it is believe it is a different device due to radio stuff...
I have however tested this patch on multiple 7105 stock ROMS and had no issues.
So the 7105 version is the att version (just to be clear)? And also does using roms from that and flashing vzw patch break anything on i605?

This rom is the Swedish version of the International version. So you need to flash the VZW patch in the same session with the rom so the phone thinks it's still running a Verizon based rom.
so this is stock android, yes? So it would NOT have touchwiz correct? Sorry if this is a stupid question, just curious because I still like the stock of this phone, i've only rooted and unlocked, then added a few mods and still LOVE this phone without a rom. <Probably the longest I've gone staying stock>

No, this is stock Touchwiz. There is no stock AOSP ROMs for our device, yet. Closest is CM10, which is currently an alpha build.

Very cool, will try a dirty flash
What they said! :highfive:
Just to pass along, wiped caches and dirty flashed this from stock rooted and loaded perfectly. Merry Christmas to everybody!
Update: finished update good, wallet would not work and <of course> had no 4 way reboot menu. 2 things I kinda liked.
flashed 4 way reboot from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2052687 and that put me in a boot loop. which actually worked out to be a blessing in disguise. I nandroided back to stock 4.11, re-ran this update, then just used titanium backup for wallet, and it worked. It loads and shows all my cards, haven't been to the store yet, but I think it's going to work.
Anyway, the only thing I'm lacking is a 4 way reboot menu.
Anyone know if there's any available for this build? I can do w/o for a while, but figured I'd share my experience and also ask.
update to update: wallet stopped working, oy.
Hey scott,
If you not busy would you mind checking out this rom and see if your patch would work on it?! I would appreciate it very much!!! Thanks
Perry

For those who did run Scott's CleanROM v3.5 and are now running this, what are the pro's and con's. I see we lose a couple of benefits like 4 way reboot. Anything else, any reason to run this over v3.5?
Has anyone tried the download link today. I keep getting a "Webpage not available" when trying to download. I've been getting the same error for about an hour now.
update:
Nevermind...The download link is now working again. Must have been an issue with the site.

[MOD] Google Wallet fix (MUST have custom recovery)

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2282892
all support will be discussed in this thread.. i originally made this for the t-mobile variant. ATT users were able to push the files of the fix into their phone because they didnt have a custom recovery, and it worked..
It is now confirmed that an ATT user now with a custom recovery has flashed this fix and it is now confirmed working.
I now present this to you guys. Would love to see you guys with wallet working using verizon. feel free to test this, but i STRONGLY reccomend you making a backup, or having a rom saved on your sd card that you can revert to in case any errors come about. Im almost sure this will work successfully if the instructions are followed correctly.
thanks and if you have any questions, ask in my original wallet thread.

I was able to get it installed, card set back up in Wallet, Xposed installed, etc. without any problems. Rolled back the build.prop changes after getting it all configured and Wallet is still opening up fine. Won't be able to test it at a store until tomorrow.

Ok, so I used root explorer to change the .prop lines then booted into recovery (twrp) and flashed the file listed and that went well.
Now, what permissions do I have to "fix" and how do I do that? I wasn't promoted nor saw an option to do this in TWRP recovery.
I rebooted and installed the wallet app from the play store, opened it, and now it seems to be stuck on "Setting up Wallet, this may take up to 5 minutes" and nothing happens.
What did I do wrong and how do I proceed?
Thanks in advance.

Step 2.) Select boot options. Create a rom slot on rom slot 1. Keep the default memory values because the slot is only temporary.
In the meantime while its loading, go ahead and hit that thank you button :good:
Step 3.) After the virtual partition is made go back to /boot options/rom-slot-1 and activate the slot.
Step 4.) Go to the safestrap main menu and click install, then find the rom you want and flash.
Step 5.) Now that you have a rom installed on your virtual partition...
Go back to the main menu and back it up, you only need to
Note: backup both "DATA" & "SYSTEM" (This is a crucial part of the process and can not be skipped)
Step 5.) Go to /boot options/stock rom and activate it, then go to the rom-slot-1 and delete the partition.
Step 6.) Restore your baked up rom-slot-1 to your stock partition. Make sure to restore date and system.
Step 7.) Enjoy :good::good:

The reason I created this tutorial is because just flashing would never work for me, it's weird. When I try to just flash, it never gets wiped properly. And I think, even if that method works, it's safer.

And you always have a backup. If anything goes wrong while flashing in the virtual slot it doesn't affect your main system and brick your phone...

Ok again I apologize for being a noob with ss, never had to use it with my previous htc devices. If I backup my stock ROM in ss, then wipe the stock slot and install a new ROM, wouldn't I be able to then wipe stock slot again and restore stock backup if needed? I don't have a need to have multiple roms loaded. Thanks.
Sent from my vzw note 3
@njfoses Correct, but I would recommend using mymethod of installing a new rom to your stock partition. You have less chances of screwing up your phone by flashing. And it's cleaner

Will it be an issue if I'm on MI9 and flash a ROM that is an MJ7 build? I read somewhere that it would be a good idea to Odin the MJ7 kernel/modem but I can't find those files anywhere.
Worked great for me. I must admit I was quite hesitant but with beans rom being out I took the plunge. So far so good!!

Trying to make sure I understand the backup part of this process. I see that the backup I make is the ROM I just installed in the virtual disk. Is it assumed that I've backed up my "stock ROM" prior to restoring the ROM I just installed in the other slot?
My goal is to have a copy of my rooted stock ROM before I do anything on the phone.
Thanks

Yes than by all means, if you want a backup of your stock rooted ROM, Back it up too! These instructions have you erase the STOCK rom slot, so if you do not back it up, the only way to get it back would be to ODIN back, or find a flashable stock ROM -- in other words, the best option is to backup your stock ROM so that you can easily put it back into the STOCK slot, than simply go back into Android, and uninstall the safestrap, and its as if you never did anything.

Note 3 4.4.2 Test build may be imminent

Looks like the credible SamMobile has 4.4.2 kitkat in their palms. We could expect a leak to be soon, in the past they have been really good about leaking firmware like how they already have for the s4 by contacting thier "elite friends."The picture below is a screenshot of the kitkat easteregg and wrote note 3 on it. Some of the things im most looking forwards to is Google wallet and the ability to hide apps from the app drawer. FUNFUNFUN
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8E4dspICPJE
Basicly saying we'll leak it when it become more stable. It doesn't surprise me considering the s4 got it leaked already, but what does surprise me is that they got a kitkat leak first, considering we have the newer/premium device.

OK just a thought but if we do get the release.... the leaked one could there be a chance that there is some way we could unlock the bootloader.. being that it is a leak not fully locked down like the officials would be.

They leak will be as locked down if it's for our variant... And either way, chances are It will be for the international version so either way it's irrelevant. But it shouldn't be too hard to port it hopefully.

Can this be installed on a Dev edition? Since it probably has the aboot partition included, will it lock the Dev edition phone? Once a dev makes this rom suitable for the retail version, is there a way to extract and repack the files without the aboot portion? How does one make an Odin-flashable file anyway if one has the partitions like boot.img, modem.bin etc? I've always been wanting to learn to make my own Odin .tar files in case I want to flash and don't have recovery installed.
Thanks
Isn't anyone concerned about this update, I mean look at the SE Android Status from N9005 from the test build it is currently showing as Enforcing. For those of us with the Retail SM-N900V doesn't this mean no more Safestrap Recovery? Also, if you go back and read about the Test Firmware it does a complete wipe of Data, so shouldn't we be worried about Root too? I certainly understand the excitement over 4.4.2 but isn't anyone paying attention to what the test build has done?
Hard to be excited about losing Root and Safestrap to get KitKat...

You mean Root has been restored already on the international version, which this is mainly due to the Unlocked Bootloader, which it is simpler to restore Root on a device that has an Unlocked Bootloader as you just install/flash the SU.zip in custom Recovery and Root is restored, works for Unlocked devices. There lies the problem, for those of us with the retail SM-N900V if the KitKat update does a complete wipe on install deleting the internal storage all is lost, if SE is set to Enforcing it could be a cold winter.

It's not really Root I'm worried about, I'm more concerned with Recovery. If the SE status changes from "Permissive" to "Enforcing" there goes our ability to flash new custom 4.4.2 ROMs that I'm sure will come out. It will be like owning a SM-N900A.

I was under the impression that the only data wipe was when people are Odin-ing the update, rather than accepting an OTA. On the past androids i had (incredible, thunderbolt, galaxy nexus, s3, note 10.1, nexus 7) i haven't had an update that wiped data from an OTA.

For some reason I don't think they are going to set it to enforcing. Because they haven't for the past 3 updates. Even if they did. Hash would be able to easily cook up ss because on the at&t note 3 and Verizon s4 and s3 are enforcing and he was able to do it... Never underestimate @Hashcode

Q and A - Read it!
Q1. What are the prerequisites to flash this?
A. You must be unlocked with TWRP recovery and latest 5.0.1 based firmware. Other recoveries may work but are not supported.
Q2. I got TWRP and I am unlocked, where do I get the firmware?
A. Post #3!
Q3. I flashed this ROM and it still says the phone is encrypted! Why?
A. The ROM will not decrypt the phone on its own. To do that you need to pull everything off storage (if you want to keep it!) and then do a "/data" wipe in Recovery. Then when you reboot you will be decrypted and can copy over what you want!
Q4. Who is this ROM for?
A. Its for the Home-brew enthusiast that wants to make a ROM for themselves. Its for developers that want to build a ROM for the community but may not have access to a complete untouched file set. Its for that guy that forgot to make a Nandroid back up!
Q5. Who is this ROM not for?
A. Crack Flashers. You will not get a flash high from this ROM. Its stock rooted!
Q6. Why doesn't it have any mods? All the other ROMS have xxxxx
A. Its a stock ROM!
Q7. Is the tether hacked?
A. Yes, It should be...
Q8. Can I still enable Encryption?
A. Yep!
Q9. OMG, the Carrier files downloaded!
A. What all did you expect its a Stock ROM!
Q10. Thanks for making this ROM for us! How can I contribute without any low level knowledge of Android?
A. Simple! Make a small (or large) donation to the donate link. Alternatively if you have decent shaped, newer high end, equipment you can spare that would be great too! We can spread the love to other devices!
Thanks
@Chainfire for root!
@Stericson for busybox!
@Cybertronicz for tether hack!
@WugFresh for his un-encrypted boot image which I "diffed" to find out how to decrypt!

You can remove the decrypted boot.img.
Just unzip the file using 7zip or something simipar and then rezip it. That's what I do except that I remove the decrypted boot.img and replace it with the stock boot.img since I'm still encrypted.

NO, that is your OEM partition in action. You could edit out part of the build prop to stop that from happening but... I wanted to keep it as close to stock as I could sans Root, Busybox, and Decryption. Oh and tether!

Yeah, I learned that the stock based ROMS for this phone are tricky! I see why no one has done one.
I restored my stock, rooted 5.0 backup and flashed this on top of it and it works great!
