Please set your DPI to default as well as make sure that the soft keys are visible. Soon we'll look at supporting multiple DPI settings for devices.

Any progress with alternative DPI settings on the Nexus 5? I'd love to run a lower DPI, say 421 or 381 for example.

Not yet, as it's an immense process to get all the widgets, icons and wallpaper to align correctly. Right now when Themer is installed it looks at what the device is called and chooses the appropriate themes. Throwing in custom DPI's makes this a bit more difficult, but the development should still be able to implement soon. :good:

I've run some of this themes installing first on stock DPI and custom softkey, then after set up the theme reverted to my pref DPI, no issue at all on my side

potential cause
A potential cause of that error may be the tweaks you've made to the navigation bar through gravity box.

My debug info, current screen dimensions, says 1822x1080, DPI=480
Custom ROM and disabling my navbar mod, still no clue

Hi, your N5 screen dimensions should be 1776x1080. This means that your navigation bar might have been adjusted.

So which DPI setting should be applied? I tried 440, 480 and stil the launcher says the resolution is not supported. Could you assist?

We're not sure what your device is, please visit: http://support.themerapp.com/knowledgebase/articles/263019-what-devices-are-supported-
From here visit gsmarena.com to check what your stock DPI should be.

It's nexus 5

[Q] viewpad7 screen resolution

Hi all, and thanks for your work.
Does anybody know how to adjust screen resolution to avoid the stretched and distorted view? I looked around but can't seem to find a thread about it.
I suppose it's not just about changing the pixel density but the actual pixel ratio.
I find it really annoying that one cannot look at a straight circle on this thing.
thanks

Apparently nobody knows anything about this.
By the way, I fear that the pixel is not square at all, in this case, I can't imagine any solution.
Have you tried an app called LCD Density Changer, which of course is about density, but still you could try?

I've tried.
The Viewpad 7 has a stock density of 160 dpi - lower than 140 dpi is unreadable.
140 dpi gives some more space, but the resolution is stretched in it's width again.

Tablet UI DPI ?

I would like to try tablet ui in all the apps and system,so please suggest suitable DPI.
about 280 to 290
If you are rooted I would use xposed an app settings and just do pre app changes as some apps dont play well with the changes

Thanks. Ya am using xposed. I have installed Phab7 module which makes status bar at bottom like tablet. Also using app setting modules for chrome, youtube etc.
Wanted to try changing DPI and see how it goes , well will give 280 dpi a try and if I feel comfortable then its good otherwise will stick to current Phab 7 and app settings modules.
One question.
If I change DPi of system UI to 280 in app settings modules will it give tablet like bottom status bar as in Phab7 module?
- DPI 290 and lower = Tablet statusbar (split)
- DPI 320 (and lower) and 800x1200 DP (in App Settings) tablet mode for apps
There is 4 dpi densities. 160, 240, 320 and 400. 160 and 240 are full tabled UI. 320 and 400 are phone UI. On 280 you got some kind of Phablet UI where some apps look like a phone UI (Play store) and some app like tablet UI (Chrome).
I have set dpi density to 240 on my ZU and it is just about to be to small but to me it is still okay. If you like you can enlarge font a bit. (Settings/display/font size) I just like tablet UI so much.
UI, UI, UI how many times I sad that? UI, UI....

That depends on how you're doing it. There are, like you say, only four official DPIs (160, 240, 320 and 400) but you can kick it into tablet mode way before 240 if you also adjust the DP. You can't do that by editing the build.prop, so we have to use a module like App Settings to set the DP to 800x1200, and then you'll get tablet mode at a higher DPI (without the split statusbar of course, since that required the DPI to be under 290). Yes, i've tried tablet mode at 400 DPI. A million cries could be heard across the universe when i hit "Apply". It's that bad.
320 DPI and 800x1200 DP looks right since the stock DPI for the Ultra (except for the GPe version) is 320, so all UI elements are properly fit. Anything under 320 is too small for me (personally) since i want to actually hit stuff with my finger when i'm standing on my legs, but that's just me though and people can set it to 20 DPI if they want too.

Yes i know about DP. I use to have Xposed with module for that. But then you have to set apps manually. That is way to much work for me and then I can not use ART cache and whole phone is a bit slower and battery is affected too. That is the reason I just simply put in DPI density to 240 in build.prop and forget about it. 6.44" screen is big enough for that. Anyway to me it is but like you sad it is just personal opinion.

True, it's a lot more work with App Settings, but if you don't want a "One size fits all" it's the only thing to do. There are also a lot of apps that i don't want in tablet mode, so the build.prop way of doing it isn't my style anymore. But like we've both mentioned already, it's all about personal preferences.
Thanks guys for all the responses.
Will give changing DPI to 240 in build.prop a try as I am already using app settings module.
@simunovic
So at 240 dpi status bar will be at bottom too? as I am more comfortable with bottom status bar.
@LordManhattan
Also if I change system UI using app settings module to 290 will it give tablet statusbar (split) as you mentioned.Or do I need to change something else too in app settings?

I don't think you can move status bar to the bottom anymore. Tablet UI dues not have that in 4.4.2 KitKat anymore. I am not sure about App setting module but regular way (build.prop editing) I don't believe is possible. You can try Paranoid Android ROM if you like. There is all of that and more. Personally I like that "old way" Tablet UI. To bad they changed that.

I am using stock 4.3 rooted so its possible on having status bar at bottom. Currently I am using Phab 7 xposed module and I have status bar at bottom.
Ya for kitkat it wont be possible.
Tried 240 DPI via build.prop and really love it. Really makes best use of big ultra screen. Has two status bar notifications one in phablet mode and other phone mode. Overall pretty impressed with it,going to stick with it. Also changed status bar to bottom by Phab7 so in end got what i aimed for

Paranoid Android is only in Beta for Android OS 4.4.x at the moment, they don't include hybrid settings until it leaves Beta. Even so, they are saying that the combined bar as we knew it is gone.
ETA: The only thing that I don't like about the combined bar is that it is hidden on the lockscreen, meaning no quick access to notifications.

That's odd though. Make sure you haven't adjusted the sizing of the bar in any way. Any small change in your display settings will throw off all of the Themer settings.

Yeah same here for my Xperia Z Ultra. I'd really like to try Themer, but it doesn't support the ZU. I'm on stock Sony build, no tweaks to nav bar or DPI that I know of. When I check the screen dimensions under Themer Debug Info, it says it is 1824x1080 with a DPI of 320. Perhaps it is the DPI that is the problem? Either way, would sure love a fix so I can try Themer out.

Hi Danial,
If your phone is rooted, please check that any other display setting has been set to default. This includes any height settings of notification/nav bars or any resolution settings. If you visit gsmarena.com, your phone settings should match the stock display settings for the G2.

Hi luvboox,
The developers are working very hard to improve Themer's performance and other features, however adding more device support won't be easy due to lack of resources. Once Themer is more stable we'll look into more device support such as the Z Ultra

Alot of Custom ROMS allow easy changing of the DPI, Seems your limiting your potential market.

I completely understand the complexity of the multi DPI.
But has anyone considered some pre defined DPI's
So at least the user can get a Near Enough DPI, and then tweaking the theme to fit perfectly is only minimal changes.
Again just a theory, I have never really worked on DPI.

There's a strange relationship with a device's DPI and resolution, which is why many device aren't supported (such as the G3). We've tried what you've suggested, however "near-enough" isn't what the average user wants

Hi, unfortunately the Mega isn't supported just yet due to its resolution. Hopefully it will be soon though!
I have a rooted Nexus 5 with SlimKat ROM running. SlimKat changes the DPI by default, but using BuildProp Editor I changed it to the stock 445 DPI. However, Themer says my resolution is wrong. If I set Themer as my default launcher, I can press the home button and see the default Themer appearance, I just can't download anything from the app. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

MIUI 7 Change DPI and the side effects?

Hi all,
I have found a way to change the dpi without root, just using adb and cmd and it worked like a charm...well, almost. There are a couple of UI glitches that appear when you reduce (or increase for that matter) the dpi.
Firstly, the icons on the home screen mess up, but that's not SUCH an issue as you can install another launcher or in my case, find an icon pack that doesn't show the mess up quite as much (my preferable choice because you see the icons set in different areas of the UI, such as the notifications shade and recents menu, settings, etc.)
Secondly, and the most annoying, is the crop function messes up in the weirdest way. Whether it be when changing wallpaper or trying to crop a picture in CamScanner, the image you choose appears zoomed in and there is no way to zoom out or even move the image around, only zoom in further.
Now, my question is, has anyone managed to find a suitable dpi that MIUI does not have a problem with, or are there some standard dpi's MIUI uses apart from 480? Or has anyone found a way around any of these issues (or any other issues they may have encountered when changing the dpi)? Last but not least, is there a custom version of MIUI out there, or a rom that has it's visuals (and camera app) but custom tailored to suit various dpi's and other modifications?
I really cannot live with the stock dpi of 480, it's like using a phone made for old people, waaaay too large EVERYTHING on a large screen, I want to see more on a large screen. But I also am not yet prepared to go off MIUI as I really like their UI, visually, and I know any other rom will lose a lot of camera quality amoungst some other things like battery life, etc.
Thanks guys in advance for any advice.

No, the original is 480, which is too large...where did you get the number 386 from? perhaps it is another one of their phone's stock DPI, which means MIUI might not warp on this DPI value? Will check it out, but any information you have, please let me know

used some of the suggested DPI's but...
so, thanks guys, used some of the suggested DPI values, 386 and 375, and mostly everything works fine....except still some small issues with the icons and the cropping. try and set a wallpaper for a whatsapp group for example, photo shows as zoomed in and cannot zoom out to choose a crop of the WHOLE image like I used to....have attached some screenshots of what happens to my icons....is this possibly because I am not rooted that the DPI value is not getting set in to the system correctly? Is anyone who is rooted facing the same issues or not?
might convince me to root, this is the first device i have managed to be happy without rooting lol

OK will try at home then.
Just to be sure - phone has to be in FASTBOOT mode to accept ADB commands from PC right?

No, no need....as long as you have ADB drivers installed and you are launching the CMD from within the ADB folder, it will work. Oh and of course USB debugging enabled and the first time it tried to access the phone for ADB details, you will need to allow it to by hitting remember and ok on the phone

Roger Rabbit...I think at the time of the screenshots I was using a different theme for the status bar, but can't remember as I am now using Eureka 8 Pro. Roger Rabbit is the base theme though, quite like the grey simplicity.

If the original one is 386 I think 400 is kinda useless... Or did you mean 300?

The original isn't near 386. I went down to 380 and everything it far smaller than a 6 dpi difference. I'd say stock is closer to 430 - 450
Yes man, you was right the original DPI is 440, the app textdroiderDPI was showing me an incorrect value of 386 (maybe a little bug...).
Setting it on 440 with LeDpiChanger gave me a full stock MIUI size
Stock is 480DPI, changers give bad result...just root and change build.prop ro.sf.lcd_density=

Thank you sir, this works for me on MIUI 8.1.1.0 global stable, change my screen density to 420. Icons are perfect.
