You could use the search

'adb shell su -c "svc data disable"' and 'adb shell su -c "svc data enable"'. You must be rooted.

Thanks for the suggestion but it seems that toggles data on/off in general and I want it to toggle it automatically when only on wifi which I did use the search with no luck hence why I am asking in the "Q&A Section"

seems like i did not understand your question clearly before. anyways, just to clarify if both WiFi and mobile data is on, the system uses only WiFi, i hope that is how your phone behaves.
I think that might be possible via apps like Automate it/tasker, however i don't seem to understand the need for doing that.
Does that help? i am still wondering if i got your question correct.

Maybe approach from a different angle.... what are you trying to accomplish once you have the ability to toggle data while on wifi?

Ok let me be more clear I'm wondering what controls the data icon visibility when on WiFi, on every phone I've had the data icon isn't present when using WiFi except this one

I think that's a much easier question to answer. I recall that being answered somewhere quite simply and I'm sure someone will be able to recall the answer. I can't recall at the moment...

Wasnt it like a setting that said check for network data in the case of poor wifi. Think thats an option in some roms but maybe stock Max has it enabled by default. I will keep my eye on it at home wifi later.

Yea I've looked all over the max so I'm thinking its something that can be changed in the framework ... Juice defender works but I'm trying not to half to use an aftermarket program. Please advise

I noticed last night on mine that occasionally it had the 4G and wifi on together. Haven't particularly had time to try to dig up what I thought I read before.

Well let me know if you come up with something

i had this issue once my mms apn wasnt set up correctly
so i had a mms in the inbox and the phone constantly tried to download the mms to no avail
so the mobile data icon H or 3G was always visible even with wifi on
so i deleted the mms restarted and the icon was gone....
i dont need mms so often so i let it this way...

Still doin it after factory reset

Do you have something that blocks network access, like DroidWall, installed?
EDIT: To clear up - DroidWall has the ability to block an app's access to the network for 3g, wifi, or both. So it's POSSIBLE, if you have it installed, that you have it allowed for 3g, but not for wi-fi.
That said: is it ONLY on your home wi-fi that you get this? Try it on another wi-fi network. Does it work on any other wi-fi network? If so, then if you think there is no firewall on your home wi-fi, then I think you're wrong.
it does not on any wi fi network and I did not installed any kind if firewall app

Not a very large sampling size. I'd try some more.
EDIT: someone else on here was having trouble with a web site on wifi, that worked on 3g. Turned out he had issues with his hosts file. If you're rooted, look in /etc for a hosts file, and see if it has addresses for vlingo in it. I don't know what those addresses might be, you'll have to research that yourself.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
the folder is actually created by an apk to prevent ads in games and there are done urls that are redirected to some IP will look if vlingo is in it
EDIT: deleted the file still doesn't work one thing I noticed it gives.error when it hear noises if I don't make any noise then no error it just waits for command

Hmm. Well, SOMETHING is blocking your phone from getting to vlingo's servers when you're on wifi. ... But I've run out of ideas, if you're SURE you don't have a firewall on your home wifi, and you got rid of your/etc/hosts file.
How many other wifi networks have you tried this on now?

I woke up and voila it works with home wi fi . don't know what happened :-D now the market problem remains only. market apps not showing

Delete Wifi calling...help please

Can someone PLEASE tell me where to find the wifi calling service and or app so that i can get rid of this garbage annoying service and icon. Thank you.
No it's not in my settings. Yes I'm using a custom Rom but no one else using the Rom is having the issue so if someone could just tell me where to locate it in root explorer that'd be great. Thanks
Btw I deleted the WiFicall.Apk in system /app and it's still there so I know that's not it

IN the phone app, menu settings, should be at the bottom.
Under the dialing tab, hit the menu, choose call settings
at the bottom under Internet Call Settings
Try Titanium Back Up from Playstore, and go to Menu ---> Then Batch, find it and un-install it from there.
Lol it's not in either of those places. It's not in titanium backup either. Anyone know where it is in system?

Does it count as calling from abroad? Or does it just use regular minutes?
Go to settings > More Settings and uncheck wifi calling
And wifi calling deducts from your limited minutes. It isnt free calling but its just in case you have a bad phone signal you can use someones wifi to make calls. Once you make that call you cant be out of the wifi range or your call will drop. I disabled mine.

Download the "Phone Info" app from the market. It allows you to choose between 3g and 4g.
I was wondering the same thing. If theres no toggle, does it automatically go to the highest/best available data stream?
Thanks i just download this app and mess al lil bit with that an forget wich is the original set up could u help me with move it back

when you are on wifi, go to settings and see if the mobile data option says something to the effect of "use mobile data when off network..." or some such...

I have this problem but only with MMS originating from certain iPhones.
I was reading online and I get the feeling this is a problem with carrier/iPhone settings and not the s5 so there might not be a way to fix it.
Might try disabling automatic download of MMS and try downloading it manually after turning wi-fi off as a temporary solution
Yea it works on regular data. I just was wondering if anyone else could not send on wifi of anyone knew how to turn off the call voice announcement.
Maybe a bug u say?
