Easiest way is unlock bootloader and flash custom kernel. Via flashtoolas the custom kernels are prerooted. no need to downgrade

Man, rooting with locked bl is also simple.
Plus, Unlocking bl is not the best and safe way to root.
You shouldn't advice anyone to unlock bl, it is a personal choice.
Beside The user must understand the consequences.
you won't be happy if someone blamed you for messing up his device.
Hope you understand this

[Q] Galaxy s4 PLEASE HELP (AT&T- sgh-1337)

I have a gs4 and want to put carbon rom on it, I have the latest version of everything to install but I keep running into the same issue.
I cannot get TWRP or Clockwork mod to work, all it does it break my recovery mode and I have to go to the samsung guy at bestbuy to flash it.
It is rooted.
Any alternative ways would be fine too, I just want to run carbon and need to fix it soon.
Thanks.

Data not working for me on CDMA...
Marshmallow SUXS,
I've played with this Update since it came out!
Seriously it's alil better then what we were working w| but it's honestly a DISAPPOINTMENT & a slap n the face. That Samsung ripp'd half the sh!t outta here before they released the UPDATE.
There are a few things that will flash and will run on MM ROM not much but hey it better then KITKAT

Going to assume because of Knox. Have you tried disabling Knox and trying it? Otherwise you will probably have to wait for a new rom/kernel to come out that has SELinux disabled. You could also try to freeze Knox and give the SELinux mode changer app a try.
