At&T customers please help - Nokia Lumia 920

I brought a Lumia 920 off ebay recently. But now realised that it will work only on At&T network. The seller from whom i brought the phone is not helpful in this case.
To unlock an at&t phone i need to be an at&t customer. But thats not possible as i m currently in India.
Any AT&T customers here please help me out. :fingers-crossed:

Any help in this regard is much appreciated.

t-mobile G2 activation question..

Hey guys,
i'm thinking of getting a t-mobile g2 handset. i've found one online, refurbished, for a cheap price. my question is do i need to activate the handset? i'm going to use it in europe and since i'm not in the usa now a friend will bring the handset to me.
a friend here is a dev and the company he works in got 2 phones from the states shipped. they had to activate them and it cost them 50 dollars each because they are no in the states, t-mobile said that it's free if it had been done in the us..

You would have to check your carrier's frequencies. But I believe the US version has all the same 2g/3g frequencies as the international has(plus LTE)

Check with the carrier you intend to use .
Dont buy a locked phone .
You should also understand that a USA phone has no Samsung warranty outside of the USA .

I don't want warranty.. as soon as I get the phone, I'll root it..
You cannot actually get the phone for the low price, as you will also have to factor in the price of the contract that you will have to get to along with the phone. If you plan buying just the phone from the carriers, it might be cheaper to buy em in India itself. Besides, the international I9300 is better than the NA variants in my opinion..

I found a current thread where someone bought a 1020 that was locked to ATT and I think you could get some answers by reading through it
