[ROM][Kernel] Sanity-ROM [21/04/14] [4.4.2] [3.4.86] [CM11] [Bricked] - Nexus 5 Android Development

Sanity-ROM
- About -
This ROM was started months ago as i did not found the ROM i liked for my Nexus 5.
Nightlies were pretty much stock and all the kangs were too bloated with tons of untested features.
So i started to create this ROM as a combination of nice CM11 and an already almost perfect kernel(bricked from showp).
Just some nice cherry-picks here and there and small optimizations that are well tested.
I chose this name as there are no fancy or unstable features integrated and no insane build flag ricing is done.
This rom is optimized for: usability, battery, stability and speed where it does not hurt the other targets.
Just the perfect daily-driver for me.
Now i want to share the result with you and hope that you like it as well.

- Donations -
I am not asking for donations to me. I do this only for fun.
But yesterday a good friend of mine asked me to donate some money to weitblick e.V. which is a german charity organisation.
In three month he goes to Kenya with them and helps buildings class rooms for children.
The money will only be taken for building material and not for his journey.
We would be very thankful for every penny you give.
The easiest way is to send me the money and i will forward everything to them.
If you want to donate directly, feel free to ask me for their bank account.

Despite the ART fixes i still do not recommend it for everyday use.

Most changes are under the hood and hard to see on screens. And as it contains theme engine you can customize any way you like.

Yes quick settings, are customizable.
Long press home key is customizable as well.

Rom seems great so far. 2 questions :
- is there any way to activate battery percentage? Maybe the stock way? Or am I just missing the right menu?
And: does cm11 allow bigger (4*4) pattern unlock? Or completely drawn gestures?

Both features are not stable/kk guideline compatible yet. So i left them out for Sanity.
Will be integrated as soon as they are.
Stock percentage can be activated with an app that is available somewhere at xda.

Have fun.

Very good rom, very stable and smooth, especially with art enabled. But the YouTube video playback bug is present and please make it possible to open notifications with a button on the navbar. Thanks for this great rom.
Gesendet von meinem Nexus 5 mit Tapatalk

WOW This ROM is so crazy awesome, thank you!!!!! I love that it has CM11 features (most pertinent to me is USB Audio which works as it does with pure CM11 for Nexus 5) AND AND AND Bricked Kernel which is a great kernel with that gamechanger sweep2wake (and doubletap2wake) feature!! My power button is going to thank me for sweep2wake!
I assume that as CM11 gets updated (and even goes official), that this rom will get updated to have that official CM11 baked in? Ditto for Bricked Kernel updates?

Anyone else unable to download this? It says on the media fire website a big red authorize download with a line through the file name and I can't download it

Thanks for the nice words!
I hope the YouTube hang gets fixed soon.
I talked to some CM Devs and they said it is known and worked on.
Have you seen a solution to this notification via navbar idea before or is this your idea?^^

This has to be browser (or router/proxy) related.
Do you use opera? Please just chose another browser to download this.

Wow, I worked on it for 2 days straight, something during the building went wrong with the device sources, after building a CM rom using the same device config used for the faulty LS rom, I confirmed it was a build issue, started from scratch, did less code modifying and poof :silly:
BTW I'm assuming the glitch in the loading bar is in the LS sources?
Just built Beanstalk rom (another great rom, which pending the premission of dev), and it had no glitches.

What is OmniROM?
A new Android custom rom has been announced at the BABBQ (Big Android BBQ) by @XpLoDWilD, @Chainfire, @Dees_Troy & Team. For more information go to omni rom's site: http://omnirom.org/
This is Unofficial build compiled by me! I'll try to do daily releases until Omni team releases stable official builds! Also I have began compiling the ROM's with the latest Linaro 4.7 toolchain and -O3 flags with Bulletproof kernel. Thanks to @scrosler, @jakdillard, @DJLamontagneIII for all of the information and tips on building ROMs and @flar2 for letting me use his kernel, and finally thanks to @2jzmoe for testing out the initial builds.
If you are looking for flo version go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2533936
Code:
#include
/*
* Your warranty is now void.
*
* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* cyber warfare, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at me for messing up your device. I will just laugh nefariously
* in your face! And if you dont like this rom, stay away from this thread!

More then likely no...I didnt know the patch was needed. I only have flo so forgive my lack of knowledge :/

No problem. You do a great job.
You need to open bools.xml in the text editor of your choice. You're looking for the line that says
<bool name="config_voice_capable">false</bool>
There is a change in bool.xml - included in framework-res.apk needed. All you need to do is change false to true, so you should end up with
<bool name="config_voice_capable">true</bool>
After that you can install some less apk to have native SMS on deb again.

Looks good and no errors or force closes but I'm getting pretty bad battery life. Currently at 40% used in only 15 hours with less than an hour screen time and using wifi. Bbs screener attached. This is after setting up everything and first full charge.
As a reference, using stock 4.4 Rom previously would last at least 3 days with the same usage.

Thanks for the feedback! not too sure what to do to make better i think maybe its the sweep 2 wake functions causing that as well I noticed live wallpapers chewed up the battery as well. I'll take a look and see what I can find no guarantees though
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
Forgot about s2w etc as I use a case with the magnet. Assume bulletproof has no config so I could install the full elementalx and disable that stuff to see if it helps.
I disabled the live wallpapers at the start and never use them anyway. So won't be that in my case.
Also don't have any partial or kernel wakelocks over about 3 mins so the thing is sleeping fine. Must be Wi-Fi on 100% but don't recall if stock Rom did the same thing?

using trickster you can disable s2w functions or a text editor will disable it. the only thing bulletproof does offer is adjustable clocks speeds. Finally from what i recall Wi-Fi is on 100% in stock roms
I'll try that next. Currently charging it up to test what happens if WiFi is set to turn off when sleeping. Because of lte, have to do airplane mode first then turn WiFi back on otherwise during sleep, WiFi shuts off and 4G kicks in which probably uses more battery.

Looks quite good. SMS features are available. Thx. :good:
Only one hint: BasicSmsReceiver.apk is not needed if CellBroadcastReceiver.apk is also added for the SMS feature.
dre, my idea didn't yield any better battery life. I then tried disabling s2w and still no difference.
Going to install stock rom to get some better baseline figures and try again as I like the rom.

Sorry to hear that its not working out...if you think its kernel related I could build one with stock kernel instead but to be honest I don't know how much of a difference it would make as bulletproof kernel is basically stock with s2w and d2tw functions :/
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
Nah I wouldn't bother as I agree that the bulletproof kernel shouldn't cause any adverse effect. I've installed the stock 4.4.2 ROM and wil let it run a day or so to get a proper baseline with some BetterBatteryStat dumps then try yours again and compare. See if I can find where the extra drain is attributed to.
dre1187 have compared to stock and cannot find any appreciable difference in wakelocks (kernel or partial) or even CPU states for the same period of time and usage (actually under stock usage was higher even) except to say that this ROM has 3x the battery consumption. Very strange. Good luck with future builds, I'll give it another shot in the future.

the gapps on OP are proper and work ok. the issue is with the setup/config/apps on your phone. getting hot near rear camera is common when CPU is working full throttle, and also high wifi usage can cause heat.
check those two situations, if still have issues, try to do data wipe.
regards.

I already did full wipe again and so far this issues has gone.
Is ART working here? I dont want to full wipe again if switch to ART and it's not working...
Bugs I found: Torch from Quick Tiles are not working, and updates/installs from Play Store takes ages to complete... Also if can please add Stweaks kernel support so we can use Stweaks to improve our systems. I specially am using Stweaks to sharpen my screen colors.

ART is working, but lets say only 98% of the apps work ok. the rest you have FC's, because some apps are not ART compatible yet.

Read the linked thread and you'll see why: some of the suggested improvements are questionable, especially the treatment of errors whilst compiling.
some SS please
I God work. Everything is fluent and snappy and I haven't had a single freeze or reboot yet. I experience both on very other rom except slimkat. And this one as it seems.

Care to quote? I'be been trying to read the tread but it's not easy task, multiple cross talks between different devs regarding different devices.
Hi guys! I have just commented today to my teammates that this morning while I was on classes my phone felt to the floor because of a little children and it felt on a stone, so right now my Moto G is practically inoperative.
This hurts me a lot because it is the only device I have, and not for develop, also for use as a daily phone so right now I will come back to and old 2008 phone until I get enough money to buy a new phone, that will require months since I am really poor.
That's sad because between this week and the next one I went to finish the original features and the new look of IllusionSettings and ROM, and right now I cannot do it anymore. So I just have decided to stop on developing the ROM at itself, and will be working on wallpapers with the icons on the survey, that will come inside a new app I am developing.
So wanted to say thank you to all our users and supporters, and also wanted to say that I will be here in case someone needs help or have some suggestions. You can just mention me here or send me Hangout and I will reply as soon as is possible to me.
I think IllusionRom right now is great in all terms and most of errors or bugs has been fixed, so would love to you expand our ROM posting your reviews about it and getting alive XDA threads too. As always this Friday new Weekly will be up for everyone. ENJOY IT!

I dirty flashed this on the build before: my play store disappeared (all gapps? I don't know. Forgot to check before I reverted). My apps asked for root access again. Some settings screens and some apps settings looked as shown on attachment.
Thanks anyways! The build before still is snappy and stable.

i've already try sokp, c-rom, RR, cm11, and carbon they are very great rom with ton of costumization but not as stable as this rom. other KK rom always gave me screen freeze or soft reboot but this rom is superbly stable as hell?
thank you @herna for bringing the best KK rom to n7000
you are the best dev ?
but im still hoping there is an update for this rom, and bringing more feature and customization ?

I was working on some features but my phone got broken, right now I have not any Android device and using an just call/SMS phone while I try to get some money to buy a new device. That will be extremely hard, because on my family we are so so poor, and will take me months, even years to get money for buy a good device.
So since I have not phone I cannot work on any new feature or customization, and the worst part is that I was near to finish the one I've been working on 2 months. I released n7000 builds because one friend of mine tried it before to see it was booting.
Anyway I'm happy you liked the ROM and the build. We always try to give smoothness and stability, and if that is working good on N7000, that is great!
Is Cm11 theme engine working flawlessly in this rom without any SystemUI ForceCloses ??
tnks in adv.
