[KERNEL][GT-I9195/9190][STOCK 4.2.2][BLN] Vikinger - Galaxy S 4 Mini Original Android Development

This kernel is based on Samsungs modified stock kernel by arco68.
Features:
- BLN Support
- Increased volume of speaker (from 68 to 72) + headset (from 62.9 to 64). If you don't want the volume mod, just use the "...26.11.2013.zip" or remove the "system/etc/snd_soc_msm" folder in the newer kernel.zip files, before flashing the kernel.
- OTG Support (but only for usb devices with external power supply, because phone doesn't provide power).
Requirements:
1. A GT-I9195 or GT-I9190
2. Samsung stock rom or any rom based on that.
Feature-Requirements:
1. BLN App by "neldar" from the Play Store. You can download the Free-Version or buy the Pro-Version with additional functionality. Please notice that blinking consumes more energy than static backlight!
How to install:
1. Flash Kernel.zip with CWM (Video)
Attention:
I don't take the responsibility for anything. Flash on own risk! Always make a Nandroid-Backup before flashing!

Known Bugs:
- To get BLN start working for all kind of notifications, you have to get an "initial-notification" which will trigger BLN to work for all kind of notifications somehow. This could be for example a whatsapp notification (while bln is active in the bln app and the display is turned off) or you can do it with the app "Go SMS Pro". Just start the app, push the menu button and navigate to "Settings -> Notification Settings -> Default notification settings -> Test notification" wait 3 seconds and then turn off your display. The touchkeys should light up now. Now BLN will work for all kind of notifications and also the test inside the bln app will work, too. But after a reboot of your device, you will have to trigger BLN again with an "initial-notification". Other notifications could also trigger bln to work, just didn't found out yet. If you find something easier, let me know.
- screen mirroring doesn't work
Battery Drain:
I made a battery drain test on stock rom (MH3). My device was connected to wifi the whole time. I activated bln and let the touchkeys light up for a whole hour and I lost 1% battery at this time. On the same scenario with the app NoLED, my loss was 4%. I also monitored the cpu with cpu spy and found out that while the NoLED notification was ongoing, my device never entered deepsleep. It was stuck on 384mhz the whole time, while with bln it was in deepsleep. Please notice that blinking consumes more energy than static backlight!

Thank you for your good work with the bln kernels! greetings from Android Hilfe Forum

I9190 please...

GT-I9190 version is up, please test and report.

It doesn't work
When message arrived, the LCD turn on and BLN too, but after second the LCD switch off together with BLN.

BLN does in general not work for notifications which turn on the screen
Except missed phone calls, which you can configure inside the bln app.

im not quite sure about this. i remember the i9000 that was working even with sms and display on and then off.

thanks for the good work, I hope that I9192 gets a piece of cake from this kernel

I would really like to hear some reports.
For me It is working quite well, besides of the fact that only after the first whatsapp-notification after each reboot, BLN starts working for all other kind of notifications, too. But since I am using BLN mainly for whatsapp anyway, it's not a big deal.

Hi,
after flashing screen mirroring doesn't work
So it will be probably problem with kernel based on Arco (sorry Arco) because the same problem is with CM10.2.

here is a version based on pure stock kernel: http://d-h.st/fI7
let us know if mirroring works

It doesn't work also.
So I have loaded stock kernel back and it started working well.
Is it possible that problem should be in version of ROM? I have I9195XXUAMG8
Now I am downloading I9195XXUBMJ7.... and I'm going to update it tomorrow morning.

I have tried a new firmware I9195XXUBMJ7 and screen mirroring doesn't work too with BLN. Anyway a root is not possible with this version.
What version of rom is based your stock kernel? I can try to install your ROM to my phone and try BLN again.

The stock kernel is based on the file "GT-I9195_JB_Opensource_Update1", which I downloaded from samsung's opensouce site.
I don't know on which rom version this is based, but it's definitly not the newest one.

Swapping The Kernel in ICScrewd?

I have been having numerous issues trying to get ICScrewd to run on my phone and I am almost certain its a kernel issue.
It was suggested that I swap out the kernel before flashing and that sounds like a great idea to me.
Except...... I don't know how.
Is it as simple as taking the zImage from the kernel zip I want and placing it in the rom zip I want?
Can I ignore the META-INF folder or do I need to somehow merge that over too?
I am sure there is a wiki or a how-to on this but I have looked and cant find it. Its probably because I don't know phrase my search.
But anyway, if someone could point me in the right direction I would be very grateful.

Yup it is that simple, just replace the file with the one you want.
You can also clean up with kernel cleaning script then flash entropy kernel in recovery

My poor phone locks up even in recovery running Siyah. Its crazy.
I am going to try this like you suggested in your thread.
I should be reporting back soon.
It worked!
So far, so good.
I havent had a single locked up screen or SOD since I flashed.
Thanks guys!
Interesting, i've been using siyah for a long time and never experienced any issues.

Just curious since I have never tried a mod with any major changes, what are the benifits of changing out the Kernel, and what are the differences between them?

For myself the benefit was actually being able to run the ICScrewd rom at all.
In my experience of several years of flashing, some kernels just wont work with some phones.
It sound odd and all that, but my real world experience has led me to give each kernel I am interested in several tried and if they continually crash my phone I move on. I have no idea why this would be. Coming from the Captivate I tried all sorts of kernel and rom combinations. If they didn't work well I just moved on.
As far as different kernels go, some have better battery life than others due to built in tuning I believe. They can be cleaned up to help your phone run faster. And obviously from my experience here in this thread, help your phone be stable.
Excuse my noobness, please. I figured this would be a pretty relevant thread to post this question.
I flashed Siyah 2.6.9 via Odin and then in recovery installed ICScreweD. Did doing so revert my kernel to the older version of Siyah used in the rom?
If so, can I just flash in the newer version using Odin or should I research another method?
This is my first root/mod so I'm still a little nervous about messing up.

yes this reverted to the older kernel included in the rom, to flash the newest kernel. Load the zip of the kernl onto your sd card, enter CWM and flash the zip. Much easier to do than with odin.
Thanks! I was pretty sure that was the case but figured I should ask anyway. I've been lurking these forums for a while and it's awesome how helpful this community is to everyone.
While on the subject of ICScreweD, is there anything I will lose by going to the green edition? The website is kinda unclear as to if there are any features not yet available in the green edition.

[ROM] (GSM) MIUI v2.3.9 - Android 2.3.7 [UD 12/03] *BlendMIUI*

Hey Guys,
I've made a version of the latest MIUI 2.3.2 by using BlendMIUI
I will no longer be updating this ROM due to the work being focused on ICS and MIUIandroid.com are not updating anymore.
It works great with the -36 baseband and battery life is not too bad.
What Doesnt Work:
Bluetooth - No MIUI build has it working yet
Touchpads - Most likely will never work on MIUI
Everything else works as it should
Download the ROM here (v2.2.17):

Everything works fine, no problems with calls,
I have had a few conversations on loudspeaker already..
I think the issues with the DHD are down to the Kernel they are using.
Is bt fixed?
edit // Sorry for this stupid question, it isnt fixed cause we have to use darkforest or dooms miui kernel and bt is kernel related
Stupid question but this is not based out of MIUI ICS is it? Because the Kernel from Keiran is for Gingerbread only.

I think this is not the reason..
Keirans DarkMiUi is based on Gingerbread (2.3.7) so and bluetooth still doesnt work with any kernel whether dooms or keirans!
BT on miui is not kernel related is it?
Im not sure, but i mean that is kernel related ???
Keiran?! We need your help master !!
Bluetooth not working is definately kernel related, the right things are in place on the ROM.
Sent from my R800i using XDA App
i agreed with the kernel related version of the problem.
last week I re-tryed to put ALL bluetooth related file from the CM7.2.0 to ALL MIUI version possible but it didn't work... i unzipped the two rom, found the file, lib,*.so file and such other things, moved to the right directory in the MIUI ROM and signed it with SignApk...
0 results....
i wonder HOW look into the kernel to try to find where the problem is....
some times I can activate Bluebooth but not every time

FAQ
Q: My phone does not vibrate when an outgoing call is connected.
A: It's possible that the time of state change for your phone after an outgoing call is connected is slower than expected. This module has an assumption that this state change should happen in no longer than 200ms. In version 2.50, there's a new option to change this threshold. But first you need to know how much time your phone need. Following the procedures below:
1. First Enable Debug Info (new option available in 2.50 also) in setting.
2. Make some calls.
3. Check the Xposed log file under /data/data/de.robv.android.xposed.installer/log/.
4. Look for the line beginning with "cstate:ACTIVE". The value after "durationMillis" is the amount of time your phone needs for the state change for outgoing call. This value might varies so make several calls and mark the largest value.
5. Set the threshold to something higher than the largest value you found.
6. Try calling out again and see if it vibrates.
is there anyway to make this work with other phones that are on 4.2 builds ? or is this just exclusive to your sony model phone.

I haven't checked out the source code for AOSP dialer. But if Xperia phone app is using similar code, then this module should also work in AOSP and other similar dialer.
Technically, this module only call the system vibrator after the method hideCallingProgress in the LargeCallView class. So if this class and method exist, then it mod should work.
You can try it and report back your result.

But again you can try this module to see if it works on your phone first. I have a feeling that it works too.

I've made a test build to write some debug info to the Xposed log. Can you install it, reboot the phone, try a call and wait until it's connected. Then send me the file from /data/xposed/debug.log. Thanks!

[TOOLS][KERNELS]Ultimate AIO compilation thread for cancro

Some flashable zips. Most are made by me (by modifying other zips; I'm no expert at scripting yet)
If the zip is my creation, you'll find a 'Credits' file with- you guessed that right- credits. Open it as text.
For the zips that are NOT made by me, I have tried to give proper credits. If I've forgotten to mention someone, PM me.
Repartition cancro:
See THIS THREAD.
All credits to @arif920629 for the guide, and @audahadi and @eaXier for the zips. I have just mirrored them.
Repartition to 1.2GB Single System
Repartition to Stock Layout

Note: This will edit your build.prop file (/system/build.prop) and will probably break OTA updates for ROMs with incremental OTAs (e.g. Mokee).
Note2: AFAIK, OpenDelta OTAs will NOT break in Resurrection Remix for example (because I OTA'd my way through Omni for almost 6 months on my old GT-N7000 with navbar enabled manually). If it does, please inform.
CameraNext Flashable:
Flashable zip for the CameraNext AKA CyanogenMod Camera AKA OPO Camera
I have found this camera app to be fully functional (tested on AOSP 5.0.2 by Ivan and XenonHD by @audahadi) if you tweak the settings.
Tweaks:
-If you get a black screen or a static image with just camera controls visible, in settings set Viewfinder mode to 'Letterbox'
-If video recording FCs or don't get saved, try setting resolution for video to 720p or lower. (Note that video FCs may also be due to kernel issues especially in the newer source-built kernels)
Ivan's kernel (possible fix for call bug):
NOTE: This will fix mobile data, WiFi and video playback errors common in ROMs which have source-built kernel by flashing kernels from Ivan's AOSP builds and placing reqd lib files.
It should also eliminate the new screen off death (call bug v2), please report if you get call bug with Ivan's kernel.
BUGS:
-Stock FM Radio app doesn't work anymore (5.0.2 ONLY?). More files from Ivan's need to be transferred probably...
Note: @audahadi and @Bitti09 are working hard on the kernel sources. If you want to help them out then I'd suggest NOT flashing these on their CM12/12.1 builds...test their work and give proper feedback.
For Android 5.0.2 ROMs
Credits:
- Ivan for kernel
- @audahadi: the required files were taken from his XenonHD ROM
- @SkipperRyujin for figuring out the WiFi fix
- Me, for all the download ROMs, backup, copy, paste, restore, unzip, modify script, rezip, testing. Took the better part of an afternoon.
For Android 5.1 ROMs
(NOTE: Below is an updated zip with the source-built kernel and modules from @audahadi's latest XenonHD 5.1 build, as he has managed to fix almost everything major: WiFi, Data, Camera, FM Radio. Long live @audahadi!)

@audahadi's kernel w/ WiFi fix:
NOTE: This will fix mobile data, WiFi and video playback errors common in ROMs which have source-built kernel by flashing kernel from audahadi's XenonHD 5.1 build and placing reqd lib files.
BUGS:

Oh, I thought the partition layout was specific to 16GB variant, didn't want any noobs bricking their device.
If it worked for you, I'll remove that warning.
And I''ll change permissions too, thanks!
EDIT: Links working?

5.1 version up. Note that I haven't tested it.
But it uses the exact same script (just different file, from Ivan's 5.1 build) as the 5.0.2 one (which I've tested to be working) so it shouldn't screw up your phone. Just keep a backup first. Just in case.
If you do flash it, and everything works, please report.
How's the battery life?
Great.. Information gathered at one place is always easy for all. Hope u keep it updated..

On what? These are just mods and tools. Battery life will depend on your ROM and apps installed etc...

I don't think that's possible. But I'll search around a bit.

I believe @eaXier made a zip based on audahadi's which allows OTAs and MiFlash too (by changing the units to bytes or something)...
I mirrored that one now. :good:

In Settings>Privacy>Privacy Guard>Advanced, you can manage permissions for each app.
Find the ones which are keeping unnecessary wakelocks and uncheck the 'Keep Awake' and 'Wake up' permissions.
Note that disabling 'Wake up' for apps such as GMail/WhatsApp for example will prevent the app from waking up from time to time to sync hence delaying notifications.
PS. Your English is pretty good! :good:

AICP A311

Aicp 10 5.1.1 Based Rom For A311
AICP is known by everyone as Ice Cold Project that started on Desire HD and since then evolved into a mature ROM with the BEST community you can find!!!
Until Lollipop, Rom has always been AOKP based. Unfortunately, since AOKP either stopped development or will make a comeback later this year, we changed our base to CM when it comes to hardware, drivers and some features.
If there are any bugs, either we will sort them or CM team if it concerns their modifications. This rom isn't CM supported so no need to report errors or bugs to them!!
Not Working/Bugs:
Sim2 Data not working Hotspot Fm Radio

Very good rom. Working fine. It is very fast. No lagging at all. Video recording is not supported in default camera. Tried google camera also. The built in video recording app also sometimes shows error. Battery is draining faster. Can you do something to optimize the battery usage.

Found some bugs. Notification led is not blinking on a notification. The led stays on always if a notification comes. Is there any setting for the led? Ussd is not working. Please check these.
Theres a bug in default launcher, In paged view grid size does not changing to custom.
There is a serious bug. It disconnects the network on both sim while making a call. Cant receive or make a call. If the default sim for call is set to 'ask every time' and when we select a sim to make a call, it crashes and restarts the system. Please check this bug.
