[Q] SGP321 and 64GB SDXC - Xperia Tablet Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just got 64GB micro SDXC, put it into my Xperia Tablet Z SGP321 and found out, that it get unmounted after a while when I'm writing anything on sd card.
I though that this tablet has support for sd cards up to 64GB, but now I found out that 3G model has support only for sd cards up to 32GB.
Is there any way to use my 64GB card with this tablet?

My 4G/LTE version formatted my 64GB card up to 64GB perfectly fine.
Did you get the tablet to format it itself, or just stick it in straight from the packet?

I tried to format it in the tablet with no difference.

no problem with the 64GB and the SGP321 Android 4.2.2 ....

Today I tried some full HD movies (8GB & 13GB) and few 700MB movies, copied using card reader connected to PC.
Then I put card into tablet, open one movie (it worked) and tried to skip to half of the movie. Card got unmounted but then automatically remount. I tried it again and it works now, I'm able to play all movies and skip forward/backward...
But still, when I try to copy some files to SD card in tablet, it got unmounted after short while (i.e. after 10MB).
I use SanDisk 64GB microSDXC class 10.

Maybe it's a fake?

I have a 64gb SanDisk and have also noticed the occasional. Usually during situations of heavy load. Works fine for the most part, just the occasional dismounts, and I know mines legit because it's straight from SanDisk after I rma'd my original one.

I had the same problem with SanDisk Ultra 64 GB card, now I replaced it with Patriot 64 GB Class 10 and everything is working fine.
No more unmounting issues

Possible compatibility issue with TP 2 and 16Gb class 6 microSDHC

I have a T-Mobile TP2. I also have an A-Data 16Gb class 6 microSDHC card.
Intermittently, the 16Gb card will "disappear". When starting Copilot Live 8, I will get a message indicating that there are no maps installed. Maps were originally installed on the 16Gb card. Additionally, when I get this error, the Storage Card is no longer available in File Explorer or any other app.
All I have to do to restore functionality is to remove/re-insert the card or do a soft reset.
Here is a link to the card I purchased:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...m_re=A-Data_micor_SDHC-_-20-211-380-_-Product
I have tried the card in a Cannon SD 1000 and have taken several hundred pics and 10s of videos with no problem (thanks to my kids for helping out here!)
I also am now using my A-Data 8GB class 6 card in my TP2 and have NOT experienced the same problem.
I have contacted T-Mobile US, A-Data and HTC.
T-Mobile and HTC offered no help. T-Mobile did offer and has sent me a compatibility list of cards that were tested by HTC.
A-Data has agreed to RMA the card so we can be sure that the card (well we hope) is not the issue.
Is there anyone else out there that has tried this particular card or another 16Gb Class 6 card in their TMO TP2, or any other TP2, and run into similar issues?
Here is the compatibility list I received from T-Mobile:
ADATA 4GB
ADATA 8GB
Kingston 4GB
Pretec 4GB
Pretec 8GB
SanDisk 16GB
SanDisk 1GB
SanDisk 2GB
SanDisk 4GB
SanDisk 4GB
SanDisk 8GB
SanDisk 8GB
SILICON POWER 4GB
SILICON POWER 8GB
Toshiba 4GB
Transcend 1GB
Transcend 2GB
Transcend 4GB
Transcend 8GB
I have the same problem with the disappearing sd card.
mine is a transcend 8gb sdhc, and disappears at random times when listening to music from the sd card (with every player I have tested, the touch flo integrated player, windows media player, coreplayer and nitrogen)
tested with the default rom (asia wwe 1.19.707.1) the updated 1.19.707.2
and with a couple of winmo 6.5 custom roms.
It doesn't happen with video though. I have watched a couple of 30+ minute videos with coreplayer without problems, but maybe it was just luck.

Oh no! That makes it sound like it might be an inherent hardware issue in all TP2s! unless the driver code is the same across all of the different ROMs you have tried.
Not good news at all!
I've had a few of problems with a SanDisk 16 gig card seeming to disappear while still installed in the phone. Can't remember where or when exactly it was, but it was mentioned on here that from time to time, the filing system on the cards gets screwed up by Windows Mobile, requiring a complete reformatting of the card. Since then, I've kept a regular backup of my card, just in case. needed it a couple of times too.
Hope the above helps.
I am using a SanDisk 8Gb Micro SDHC and have also had the disappearing problem. I was not playing any content off the card. Just a few times when I went to get some pictures or files off the card or save an attachment, the card was missing/unavailable. I removed it and put it back and then it worked, but eventually became unavailable again.
I have a 16Gb A-Data card and have had no real issue. The only problem I have noticed, is if I charge the phone fully with the phone turned off & SD card in place, it then doesn't recognise the card. I then had to remove the card and access it via the PC before the phone would recognise it again - however no data was lost.
This doesn't happen if I charge it with the card removed, or if I charge it while the device is on.
Other than that it works fine - but I don't use coPilot.
Cheers,
fyi,
no problems so far with a Transcend 16GB Class 6 MircoSDHC (TS16GUSDHC6) in combination with a german T-Mobile MDA Vario V (Touch Pro 2).

I have the same card with the exact same problem. Re-seating the card fixes the problem for a while. But at least once a day it gets lost. I did not have any issues with a Kodak 4g card.

RiData 16GB Class 6 in Telus TP2
I have a RiData 16GB Class 6 in a Telus Touch Pro2 and have not had any problems with it. I have been using it constantly for over a month without a single problem. I would suspect the card as the TP2 is stated to handle 16GB and I am sure it will even take a 32 GB when they come out.
I have takeMS 8GB Class 6 card and initial UK Pro2 and card disappears whenever I listen to music regardless of player. Luckily card never disappears when I use TomTom or Garmin for navigation.
Currently this makes my Pro2 obsolete for listening music. I just hope that changing card will help with this issue.
I have also been having the same problem with a disappearing storage card, and I have the same microsd as the OP. For the people with the problem, can you make your card disappear by playing music on the HTC Audio Manager and then turning of the screen with the power button? My card disappears within a minute after playing music with the screen off, which also happens when i turn the screen off with music playing on Conduits Pocket Player.
me 2
with a data
i guess it's asoftware problem
cause that happened once to me before with i mate 9502 and a patch was developed then it was ove come with the new firmware
I previously used an A-Data 16GB class 6 card that kept disappearing on MP3 playback after about 10 minutes at most. Today I received a new Sandisk 16GB class 4 card. Been playing MP3s for 3 hours now with no problems so far.

Sandisk 16Gb class 4???? Where did you get that? I thought they only had class 2 so far.
Just checked Sandisk website. All I see are 4, 8 and 16Gb class 2 micro SDHC cards.

I received my replacement 16 Gb card from AData on Tuesday. Everything has been working fine with the new card.
I heard back from AData again today.
Turns out, there was an issue with my original card. That have not narrowed it down yet but have indicated that there is definitely something wrong with it.
If anyone else has an AData card with a similar or any issue with their card, just contact them @ [email protected], for US customers, for a prompt response.
i think the issue of compatibility of tp2 and micro sdhc is a scarry nightmare
but from browsing the net i figured out
make sure that the card calss 2 or any type supports that
thank u

See post #9 above it has been over a month and a half and my RiData 16GB class 6 has never given me a problem. As I said then if you are having problems it is probably a defective card, and as mmeyer4663 said in post #16 the problem was the card in his case.

64gb microSD...

Do it work?
Galaxy S II phones say they only accept up to 32gb microSD cards and yet they happily accept 64gb cards. Was wondering if the tab 7.7 does as well?
Yes i have 2 sandisk 64gb class 6 micro sd cards,1 in my gs2 the other in my tab for 2 weeks now works perfectly.
Get it on sale here hurry:
http://www.adorama.com/IDSMUMSD64G.h...ce=rflaid62905
Yes it does
I can confirm both wifi and 3g can take the 64gb micro sd.
Yep, confirmed again here. I swap between 2 SanDisk 64GB microSD cards for my data and haven't had any issues.
Confirming the Verizon version i815 can accept Sandisk 64GB microSDXC.
I would get one for my 7.7 if that one mod that let's you swap the external and internal sdcard works with it. Has anyone tried it? With all the new high resolutions games and mapping data from offline navigation app, i'm running out of internal sdcard memory.
FYI, on an ICS rom (Skyfire) I was only able to get the Gtab to recognize my 64gb microsd card when formatted as FAT32. ExFat and NTFS were not recognized.
FWIW I've learned the hard way (3 dead 64gb cards) that they DO work but are 'fragile'. Just format fat32 using EaseUS (free) and you're good to go. The fragile part is that they seem to get corrupted at the slightest provication. Seems like any power interuption, no proper unmount or ejection, any early data flow termimation, whatever, will do it. Just be **very** careful in use and should be ok.

[Q] Will our tablets work with 64 Gig MicroSD Cards?

If so, any recommendations?
Or if only a 32 gig will work, what do you guys use brand wise, class, etc?
Just want to make sure I get one that works well with the device.
It doea work with 64. I swap my card between the Tablet Z and my ZL all the time. You may need to format in the tablet. Then you can even read\write on a laptop.
Sendt fra min Xperia nettbrett Z (SGP312)
If I'm not wrong (I always forget), the 32 GB Wifi model does not support 64GB MicroSDXC, only the 16GB models do. They also do not support exFAT (FAT64), only FAT32 and thus are limited to 4GB files. They only support a maximum of MicroSDHC 32GB, but support may be added in future patches - I believe similar functionality was patched to one of the XPERIA smartphones.
Currently only 16GB models support 64GB MicroSDXC and exFAT.
The sole exception is the Japanese SO-03E 32GB celluar model, which supports 64GB MicroSDXC and exFAT - it read my SanDisk Mobile Ultra (30MB/s) 64GB XC card flawlessly.

This is incorrect. I have the SGP312 and a Samsung 64GB MicroSDXC (and exFAT) work just fine in it.
The 16GB GSM/HSPA+/LTE Versions only support 32GB and no exFAT.

I second this information.
If you have a SGP311 or SGP312, you're good to go with the fastest 64GB MicroSD you can buy.
Taken from Sony Mobile:

I found this information on many posts but tell me one thing: i have SGP321 and in the first day it worked correctly with Samsung SDXC 64GB (movies, pictures etc). After formatting micro SD card, tab doesn't see the card anymore. I made factory reset to tablet but it didn't help.
I still don't know how it happened, that tab worked with SDXC...
EDIT: after full formatting the card with exFAT (3-4h waiting), tab works correctly with SDXC

That's correct, exFAT is the format you need to use for the SD to be appropriately detected. I'm glad it went well for you.
actually, tab doesn't want to cooperate with SDXC 64GB from samsung... it sees the card but doesn't see content of it. ES Explorer also sees directories on micro SDXC but no files. Well... i have to buy new one, but 32GB

wrong, sgp321 works with 64gb xtreme pro and exfat format without any issue... :good::good::good::good:
Maybe. Anyway my SGP321 doesn't work with samsung micro SDXC. IT worked once, on the beginning. Even sony says on webpage that xperia z supports 64gb bit in chosen models.
EDIT: after benchmark the card - ATTO disk benchmark and Crystal Disk informed me, that the card is class 4 - it's fake, not original Samsung, that's the solution of my problems... I wrote to seller complete information about my discoveries, he agreed to receive card back without any opposites. Damn it...
Just want to confirm that my 64 GB micro sd card works fine with exfat:

Samsung 32GB Micro SDXC Card fraud?

Hey guys,
so I bought this Samsung Micro SDHC Card which has a storage of 32 GB from this link:
http://www.amazon.de/Samsung-microS...te-MB-MPBGCEU/dp/B00AYC6V2U/ref=cm_cr_pr_pb_t
It clearly states that it's a Micro SDHC Card and when it arrived I was surprised to see that it's a 32Gb Micro SDXC (I thought that SDXC only made sense with 64Gb of memory).
However, I plugged it in my S3 and it worked from the start but then I started to transfer files to it (about 12 gb) from my old Micro SD Card. The speed was ridiculously low, at about 1 MB/s and sometimes even lower. And I was copying big files like videos and also MP3`s where the speed is usually about 10MB/s with my old MicroSDHC Card Class 10. I tried to format it but it wouldn't help.
So then I started to do some research and I couldn't find even 1 picture of the card using Google (Samsung Micro SDXC 32GB UHS I Card), so I'm beginning to think that it's maybe a fraud?
Have you guys seen a card like this or maybe someone even owns one? Would be interesting to know.
Anyhow, I'm gonna write to the seller that I want a new one, since this one is clearly not working as it should.

Help - 64GB Micro SD card support..

I'm on stock 3.22...
Just bought new 64gb micro SD but facing few problems.
Transferred all my data from old 32gb to new 64gb..
1. Images and videos get automatically deleted... 2. If I take pictures on new 64gb memory card, they get corrupted suddenly.. Old remains as it is.
Tested the same memory card with other phones and works perfectly...
Tried multiple 64gb cards but problem remains same..
Any help would be appreciated..

Well i have a 64GB card on my Max since i bought it going from 1.64 to 3.22 and to paoloscm12 and it works percfectly in all of them. You have to make sure your 64GB card is of good branding like Sandisk, Samsung.. etc and not some weird **** you bought on aliexpress. If thats all good, you should try formating your card to exfat if its in some other format, or , if that doesnt work, you can try formating it to fat32 which theoretically cant be done but worked when i had it in my samsung galaxy s2 which didnt support more than 32gb expansion cards.
Same as what pilililo2 said here...
