I did not create Impactor nor Snappea, I just managed to figure out Impactor works to obtain root on this device and many others

Make SURE you have USB DEBUGGING turned on
Next, you will need suitable drivers, there is a way to install drivers elsewhere but a much quicker way is to go to www.Snappea.com and install this program on your PC, it is just a program that allows your phone to better interact with your PC but the bonus is that it can install generic drivers (including that much needed ADB driver) for almost any device! Once snappea is installed simply connect your phone to your PC when Snappea prompts you to.
Finally go here:
http://www.cydiaimpactor.com/
Download Impactor and unzip the file, once unzipped simply open the Impactor folder and double click the Impactor Application. This will pop up a box that says Cydia Impactor at top on your screen. You should see a drop down menu that currently says "# drop SuperSU su into /system/xbin/su". Make sure that command is showing in the drop down box and press the start button on the right side.
Once this completes you will just need to download your favorite Superuser or SuperSU app onto your device then update binary and you are rooted!
Good luck!!

[Q&A] Unknown Sources FIX Offered

Hello,
as i read the posts and threads AT&T phones have locked unknown sources. So we cant install unknown sourced apps. (as applanet etc.) and updated fw's (1.4.257.19) cant root yet.
so i found something. i mounted my atrix and took downloaded files from applanet/downloads folder.
then i copied to sdk/tools folder.
i re-connected atrix with PHONE PORTAL mode and enabled usb-debugging.
i run command : adb install ndrive.apk
and Successfull !
i controlled my device application runs perfect.
Step by step :
1-Download from applanet (or internet. if you donwload from internet pass through to step 6 )
2- Connect Atrix in Mass Storage mode.
3- Copy downloaded files from SDCARD to SDK/TOOLS (ex : applanet : applanet/downloads)
4- Rename file (app.apk to NAME_OF_APP.apk)
5- Disconnect Atrix
6- Connect Atrix as Phone portal mode with debugging enabled
7- Open command prompt go to sdk/tools folder (EX: cd C:\sdk\tools\)
8- make sure phone connected (adb devices)
9- Run Command => adb install NAME_OF_APP.apk
10- Success !
you can always install apps through adb install, this is widely known, please search before posting. Also there are methods to enable unknown sources so you don't need to install them through adb. Again, search
Aye download any Root utility and it will almost always allow sideloading, as well. aRoot and the oldschool root utility (Super whatever) both do it.
and you can root the update if you prepare first, check the dev section.

Do this root apply to the s8-50F ?
EDIT: This method indeed does work on the S8-50F variant. Was having problems with device staying in adb while running program, but a reboot of pc fixed that and gained root effortlessly. THanks!
Glad It Helped !!!

The download isn't working for me. It's not downloading as a zip? Any suggestions?
If youre using windows, download a program called 7-zip and downoad the file. right click the root software and click extract here. or open with 7-zip. You could also use winrar. The format of the file is in .7z right ? that means search up http://www.7-zip.org/

Thanks both of you. I ended up returning it, root and all, but I'm sure your suggestion would have worked.
After rooting, has there been anything anybody's been able to do about battery life? I don't imagine there's been any Roms built for this device yet, but didn't know if maybe someone's figured out something that's helped extend their battery life, because when playing certain games like clash of clans for instance, I'm lucky to get an hour and a half of game play, and that's with my brightness turned all the way down. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

This root guide works on s8-50f! thanks Xakep
This is a very easy and usefull root instruction, i rooted my tab s8-50f with no problems.
I followed the steps described and got instant root without any issues.
My machin is windows pc with windows 8.1 pro 32bit. Plug your tab and windows recognized the drivers just make sure your device mngr shows lenovo s850 and you are all set. Then just run the flash tool and it will run in less than a minute your tablet will reboot and your tab will be rooted.
Yes this is probably the easiest I've ever rooted any device in the past. If at first it doesn't take, don't worry it will. Just repeat the process till it does. Thanks Hash.h for putting up this thread and passing along the info

Where can I download the ADB drivers for S8-50 from?
I think drivers come with tablet. Try to connect the tablet and it will show CD drive on which is the driver.
error: device offline?
I followed this with no luck. I have adb installed and running "adb devices" shows the tab connected, but when I run the tool "error: device offline" scrolls repeatedly and no root.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Worked great. Thank you.
Awesome little tablet.

Tried on another computer and succeeded.
This worked brilliantly...
but then I upgraded my firmware using the in-built system and it de-rooted. Now the exe no longer works.
New firmware is S8-50F_S000200_150121_ROW
Exe -appears- to run well, but appears to fail on the last command. Unfortunately it disappears off the screen before I can check the exact nature of the error. It appears to go fine until the final attempt to copy the SU binary into place fails with a 'File not found' error.
I've also tried the other method here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/rooting-roms/guide-lenovo-s850-row-t2927400
The flashtool fails to find the device (I know the drivers are installed), so I'm unable to install the new boot image.
ADB shell fails
mount -o remount,rw /system
with the response
mount: Operation not permitted
so none of the 'push' operations will complete as the /system folder is read-only.
Any suggestions?

Same problem here. Lost root after the last update and now I can't get either root method to work.

Has anyone found a way to root the LG Transpyre?

Having this phone non root is driving me completely insane. No greenifying system apps, bloatware, etc.
Are there any root methods on the computer that root all android phones?
Did you get this rooted yet?
See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/help/lg-transpyre-root-4-4-2-t3021836
Found this to work for me on transpyre
I found this on another web site after almost giving up on my Verizon transpyre vs810pp i followed to the tee with the exception of install su from thr google store cause after root and boot it will b installed so just follow the guide and you to shall have root enjoy and props to the ones that gave us this gift.........
This is not my exploit to take credit for in anyways; and as always do this at your OWN risk. Credits to the creator(s) (I don't know who it is), the finder jgkim, and the translator Unjustified Dev.
Original post here.
A translated post here.
The original posts do not talk about the G3, but it DOES work for the G3. See post #636 and on where it has worked for others besides myself (on this XDA thread.) Tested myself on the VS985 (Verizon G3) and it has worked flawlessly. Others have tested on AT&T G3 (D850) and it has apparently worked fine as well!
I noticed quite a few people upgrading who didn't know much about this, and also quite a few people NOT upgrading because of the lack of root access, well this easy to follow tutorial should help with that. I think the instructions on the XDA post are quite clear and easy to follow, but I decided to post one here out of boredom. Originally I was going to just share the link, but why not? Enjoy.
How to:
Install SuperSU from the Google Play store and install it.
Download these files and extract the contents. I redownloaded all files and packed them together right after to ensure this file is safe. The files are the original rooting-require files along with MFastBoot (Basically adb without the Android SDK installed, it's quick and easier for me since I have not installed the Android SDK). It also includes the latest SuperSU Binary zip straight from the Chainfire website.
Enable USB debugging on your device. (About Phone > Build Number (keep tapping it until it says you are a developer) and then go back to the main settings. Go into developer options and enable USB debugging.)
With your phone screen on: Connect it to your computer via USB cable and put it into PTP mode. (USB debugging should report as on in the status bar.)
With your phone screen on: Hold shift and right click in the folder you extracted and open a command window. (Your phone will soon ask you to allow the computer, hit remember and yes! It may have even asked your prior to this step, just allow it.)
Copy this:
adb push g2_root.sh /data/local/tmp/
Right click in the command window and paste. Hit enter, and wait until it finishes (should take a second.) Now copy this:
adb push busybox /data/local/tmp/
Paste it in the command window and hit enter. Copy this:
adb push UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip /data/local/tmp/
Paste it in the command window and hit enter.
Leave the command window open and disconnect your device. Turn off the device completely. Hold volume up and connect the USB cable to your device without touching the power button; it will go into download mode.
Find which com port your device is connected to (Device Manager > Ports > Your phone will be there, COM(Number) is what you'll need.
Go back your command prompt, and copy this:
Send_Command.exe \.\COM(CHANGEME)
Replace "(CHANGEME)" with the COM port number of your device. Now copy this:
sh /data/local/tmp/g2_root.sh dummy 1 /data/local/tmp/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip /data/local/tmp/busybox
Paste it into command prompt and hit enter.
Enjoy your root access! I don't think you can just do "adb reboot", so just disconnect your device and do a battery pull. Put the battery back in and boot up your device. Enjoy root!
