[Q] working non native tether for Sprint Note3? [SOLVED] - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 3

I have a Sprint Note3 but I dont have the SIM card and the native hacked hotspot still asks for SIM card, any other working app/solution?

My phone is rooted with the hacked tether mod and it does not ask for a sim card.

Possibly looking for 4g is my guess. Try cdma only if you haven't already.

4G LTE will not come on unless you have a SIM card inserted. Pick one up at Sprint store, they're free.

I forgot to mention, I have my Note3 on Boost Mobile, no LTE, only CDMA. It still asks for SIM Card when I turn it on. Whoever has the hacked tether, do you have a SIM card on the phone? Your phone might be rooted and hacked, maybe it requires a SIM card for it to work. I guess I'll try ycats suggestion and get a SIM card, even if it's disconnected it will work? I want to bypass LTE completely from the Hotspot.

wanna know too if theres a no native tether app that works.....cuz my native tether is missing ...theres no native tether option in settings ...i tried different roms and nothing

BUMP!!! Need tether for my car's Navi box so I can listen to Pandora, Xiia Live, etc etc.
EDIT: Tried BONSAI ROM that includes the hacked hotspot and got a SIM card but I got an invalid SIM card message when I tried to start the hotspot.

My solution was install Bonsai MJ4 v0.0.2 with patched hotspot and install Wifi Tether Router and set it as mode 4 - Native Tether and enable mode 4 native tether patch. Anybody without Bonsai MJ4 v0.0.2 with patched hotspot can u test and report back? Thanks!

I just installed MI5 rooted/deodexed over MJ4 kernel/baseband, installed the MI5 hotsopt hack (or I get error when connecting 3G) and Wifi Tether Router still works. No need to pick Mode 4 hack does not apply to our phones, didn't make the error go away before I patched my phone with the MI5 patch. No SIM card - which was my issue. I'm tethering 3G only, I don't have LTE service. As long as you install the MI5 tether patch on MI5 system you can use this program if you don't have SIM card and tether 3G. I have Boost with shrinkage ($35/month unlimited talk/text/web)
Sooo.... 2 things to consider:
1. You need to have a patched Hotspot (for the error msg from Sprint)
2. If you don't have a SIM card and you want to tether 3G you need Wifi Tether Router and use Native Hotspot mode. You can then configure the Native Hotspot after you enable it with Wifit Tether Router.

So this is the only way to tether on a Note 3 flashed to boost on 4.3?

You can try MODE 3 like I did for the Stock Galaxy Mega ROM.

[Q] Wifi Tethering with a Stock SGS2 on AT&T

I tried to setup tethering over Wifi to share my AT&T connection with my wife but every time I try to enable "Portable WI-Fi hotspot I receive an error.
My SGS2 is stock and I have AT&T.
I read several threads of other devices and saw that people where saying you need root access and install Android Tethering but when I look for that app I can't find it.
I also found some other free tethering app called EasyWifitether but that one doesnt work either.
You think AT&T is able to block the tethering somehow? Even when this SGS2 is completely stock?
I didn't try USB tethering yet but would like to get Wifi tethering working.
What's the error you're getting and is it on your phone or the computer? I had a couple of issues when I had security enabled of the Portable Hotspot.
ATT shouldn't be able to detect it when it hasn't even been used. They can see the increased data being used and can probably suss it's tethering when it is in use though.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
I was able to get it working under VillainRom without any issues.
The error I received? it didn't popup anything it just said Error under the checkmark to enable tethering.

Do you have ATT Tethering Plan or you just turn on the portable hotspot?
Thanks for reply
I just tried it and it worked fine (with WPA security enabled). I'm on the dumb-phone unlimited data plan.
some network providers block this option when they send out the phone

Enable Wireless Hotspot for International use

Photon users outside the US, here's how you can enable the built-in Wireless Hotspot functionality on your phones...
1. Go to data/data/com.motorola.providers.setttings/databases/ and open settings.db
2. Look for entitlement_check or id 139 and change the value from 0 to disabled
3. Reboot and you're good to go...
I didn't have to do any of that when I used my Photon in Greece. Mine is rooted with photon torpedo method and I used wifi tether from the Market. I used a Wind sim card for data there and just turned on wifi tethering many times over a ten day period so my wife could connect to the Internet (she has a locked AT&T iPhone 4) via wifi when she wanted. Worked great.
(EDIT) - ah, you mean built-in wifi hotspot. I stand corrected. Still, wifi tether from the market worked with no hitches, so that's one other way to go...

[Q] No Hotspot Tether Apps Will Work On My Phone Please Help!!

No Hotspot Tether Apps Will Work On My Phone Please Help!!
I have a Galaxy S3 with AT&T. I do have the recent LTE sim card. I’m trying to share
Internet to my two macs. My S3 is rooted.
I recently installed Google Wallet. Sense I have AT&T I had to change a couple of logs in the build directory to trick my phone to think it’s a Galaxy Nexus. Could that be it? If so can I change the logs back and Google wallet still work?
I’ve had been using FoxFi for about 2 months with no problems. I never used it a whole lot to make my data stand out. I’ve used it about 8 times
No matter which hotspot tethering app I try to use my phone wont share internet. USB tether apps wont work either.
I’ve tried:
Wireless Tether – Says its sharing a hotspot but computer wont find it.
Smart Tether – Says FoxFi is working but FoxFi says the hotspot is off
ClockworkRom Tether – Says USB tethering is ready then the app on my mac tries to connect to the internet through the phone but never does, just keeps saying “Checking phone status..”
Barnacle WiFi Tether – Says “Failed to connect to supplicant: no such file or directory” “Stopped unecpectedly!”
FoxFi – When I go to activate it tries to then says “Activation faild.” – Ive been using FoxFi for about 2 months with no problems.
EasyTether – Says its ready to USB tether but mac just says my phone is not sharing Internet
PdaNet USB tether – I have the PDA net app installed on my mac like required but still does not work.. – Pda Net did work on my mac on my iPhone before switching over to android. 2 months ago.
Wrong forum, this is f for the international i9300

[Q] T-Mobile Tether

I am having trouble getting Wifi Hotspot or any tethering to work with my new Padfone X on the T-Mobile Network.
Everytime I try to enable it I get the error message:
There is a temporary network problem that prevents the enabling of this service. Please retry later.
I read the phone might block it since it uses AT&T software but I am unsure what setting to change to fix this.
My phone is rooted and hope someone can help me with this issue.
I had the same problem. I rooted then downloaded an app called WiFi tether router. Its $2.50 but its the one that works For me.

It took some work to get it going on my Padfone X (rooted, unlocked, on t-mobile in US/Seattle) but it does work. It does take a little work to get it going.
The app is: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.snclab.wifitetherrouter and it is still $2.50.
I used this as my base config from their support site: https://sites.google.com/site/wifitetherrouter/home/device-configuration
Interface wlan0 (Or Suggested by the app)
Method 3 - HostApd
Encryption wpa2-psk
Channel 1
Drivers nl80211
HostApd Patch <- UNCHECKED
Tether works on t mo in lollipop using padfone s ROM.
I am on T-Mobile and use mdkathon's method. To the carrier, it looks like you are using normal mobile data as well rather than tether data. But the native tether app works on my Padfone X with Padfone S 5.0 Firmware without having to make changes, it could possibly be something I removed during debloat process.
I could never get my PFX to tether to TMO with AT&T's firmware, even after doing some of the common workarounds. Flashed the latest PFS KitKat (not bothering with LP) software and tethering worked right out of the gate.

Best way to wifi tether on Boost mobile XT1526 unmetered?

Hello I've tried modifying the build prop but Boost still sees my wifi hotspot usage, I'm on the unlimited plan but only allowed 8GB of tether. Also tried the app WiFi Tether Router but it doesn't send internet even tried it with developer's specific instructions. Is there a ROM for XT1526 that enables hotspot as if I'm using the phones internet as it says I have 99.99 GB on my Sprint account. I'm rooted with newest TWRP and I'm familiar with flashing.

I've been tethering a Boost ZTE N9835 with WiFi Tether Router App for several months. I also had it working on the Moto G. Certain phone's have different settings you've gotta change for it to work. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.snclab.wifitetherrouter
The xt1526 Boost Moto E LTE can be used for unlimited hotspot/tethering on most custom ROMs, so long as this line is present in build.prop:
net.tethering.noprovisioning=true
