Patched libWFD_ENGINE.so for rooted MK1 / ML1 (enables screen mirroring) - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Themes and Apps

I was a little annoyed when I rooted my P600 and lost the ability to use screen mirroring. A bit of searching gave me http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2421642 showing how to patch libWFD_ENGINE.so. Thanks to everyone on this thread and I have attached a working libWFD_ENGINE.so for my P600 on MK1 / ML1 firmware. Tested using an Actiontec Screenbeam Pro.
Installation:
Using a root-enabled file explorer, like Root Explorer, make a backup of /system/lib/libWFD_ENGINE.so
Download the file below, unzip the zip file, and copy the so file to /system/lib, replacing the one already there (again, make a backup).
Set permissions to 644 / -rw-r--r-- and reboot.
Not tested if it will work on other versions / variants / firmwares
Update, flashed ML1 a couple of days ago and applied the fix again OK.

Excellent work! Did you build this from source? Mind sharing the kernel base?

Worked great thank you.

No, I just patched the code using Winhex after decompiling with IDA as in the thread I have linked to

apparently it doesn't work on the wifi version because now I'm just stuck at the SAMSUNG screen....I did make a copy of the original file but I'm not sure how I can get it back to where it needs to be because I cannot get ADB to recognize my tablet.

I am using this on the P600 wifi, are you using the MK1 firmware ?? Did you setup permissions correctly and did the filesize of the one you backed up look the same ??
TWRP can get you adb, plus the file manager can copy from microsd into your lib directory if needed then setup the correct permissions or use fix permissions from the advanced menu. Be sure to use the 2.6.3.0 version from http://www.techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/lt03wifiue, I used Odin 3.09 to flash the .tar

P600 Wifi Version
MK1 firmware
Just ODIN'd the correct .tar, I used a different TWRP the first time.

My laptop will not recognize my tablet so that I can put that file in a folder so that I can move it with the file manager....hmm.

Still no luck. I even downloaded the zip from the computer and transferred it to a SD card and moved it to the system folder that way and it still will not go past the SAMSUNG screen. I wouldn't care to just flash back to stock with ODIN but I cannot find the firmware without having to pay for the ability to download the file. Does anyone have a download they could share with me? It doesn't really matter which one, I just want my Note back.

When you flash this over the top you won't lose any settings etc., just root / recovery

No worries, but you did scroll down through that thread and find the other alternative places to download it ?? !!

I do believe the other options require you to pay for downloading the file. I'm not that desperate yet.

This is from the last link I mentioned http://uploaded.net/file/95sl3ijv
Edit, OK, I have Uploaded Premium so can download big files, now I get it !

Paid the 4.99. Hopefully I will be up and running soon. The download speed isn't blazing fast from that website. I have a dedicated line where I work and I'm only seeing max download speeds of 800Kbs. Lesson learned about not making a backup first. I never would have thought that little file could cause so many problems.

It's worth comparing the file sizes 1st to see, I noticed that on the other thread the modification was used across several versions / firmwares of the same device. But make a backup and have a fresh copy of the firmware just incase !

When you use the screen mirror do you just select it from the settings? Or do you use another app? I am thinking about getting an actiontec screen beam pro and would like to know how the setup goes?

How do I access 'storage/emulated/0/download' on my phone?

Hi,
Earlier today I installed CM10 on my phone and so far it's been absolutely fantastic! Very happy with it
One small problem I have is that I've downloaded some themes which go to storage/emulated/0/download (along with all of my downloads when I was on stock) - but I cannot access them? It says my download folder is empty - any ideas please?
Thanks

Thanks! I've just tried that using ES and couldn't find anything, so plugged it into my PC
Computer\GT-I9300\Internal storage\data\media does not exist
Computer\GT-I9300\Internal storage\Downloads is full of my downloads
So that looks kinda correct. However under settings, then Internal Storage, then Downloads... it's empty

The problem is, if I go to downloads (or downloads via the storage menu) it just says "No downloads"
Any ideas what I could be doing wrong please?
Its not screwed.
Download app only records new downloads afaik? It wont pick up old ones that it didn't download itself.
Would need specific error logs from /cache/recovery to even start to troubleshoot recovery issues but its nothing to do with this anyway

Your downloaded files are sometimes stored in the "Files" folder. Once there, open the "Downloads" folder and it should be there
Emulated/0 is the "new" way to access the internal storage. It was added for an extra layer of permission protection. It stops apps misbehaving behind your back.

Go to the My Files folder. Click All. Click Download folder. There are all the files downloaded from emails.

Have you enabled the permissions for storage in app manager?.
Have you encrypted the folder?.
Have you tried developer settings and enabling root?.
I have no idea why you've changed from stock to a custom rom. That's like trading money for dust..

[Q] tether verizon 4.3 build mk2

Just rooted my Verizon galaxy S4. Pain in the ars compared to the Droids that I've had for the past 6 years. Maybe just different. Not really interested in changing out Rom, but really need to have tether. I have unlimited and use about 16 gbs per month for business. I know that there's a thread on xda for tehter, but its somewhat old and can't see anyone that's used it or applied it for the MK2 build. Have tried numerous WiFi apps on market and none work. Also the.the thread on xda is somewhat over my head. Anything else out there. Hows this, since I don't do this for a living and don't have the patience to do the tether package ...theres 50.00 bucks to help me get tether and to understand it a little better. Use to change the entitlement on the droids and had tether, but the process on the galaxy is stumping me. let me know

This thread is updated for MK2. Relatively simple as the primary method is to simply copy and paste in a root explorer.

This is the part that's beyond me. I know it must be frustrating to deal with us out here, but any and all help is very much appreciated.
1.Download the modded framework-res.apk from here for MJ7 or here for MK2 then copy it to /system first then change framework-res.apk's permissions to rw-r--r-- (chmod 644) and then MOVE it to /system/framework and overwrite framework-res.apk. Then reboot and you should have tethering!
Do I do a direct download to the phone? or or to desktop and than to system. and so on. again any help is appreciated This is why I go to YouTube and have a 8th grader show me how to do it. Kind of embarrassing for a guy that's in his fifties. But than again my work and what I do for a living is beyond allot of people...Thanks

Have used PdaNet in the past. Cant get it to work on this build...Weird
I'm on MK2 with Surge's tether. I found it much easier to unpack the zip on my desktop and move the files to the root of my external SdCard. Once you have all four files in the folder on your external SdCard, download Terminal Emulator to your phone from the play store, open it and type in the commands letter for letter (double check your spelling and spacing). The script runs, the phone reboots, and voila tether works through the hotspot app no problem.
---------- Post added at 05:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:07 PM ----------
In addition if you use the script through Terminal Emulator you have a nice way to return to stock - just type in the commands for the untether script.
I had to undo the tether to accept the OTA from MJ7 to MK2. However, the next OTA should be kitkat, so who knows if this will even be an issue or if we'll still be able to tether this way.
Question on the root on the sd card..Do I make a file, no file on in E'S file mgr.

I'd say it doesn't really matter how the file (frameworks-res.apk) gets to the root of your SD card. From there, using a file manager (I usually use File Manager, be sure to check root explorer and system write in the settings) locate where ever you placed the file, highlight it by pressing and holding, there should be an option to copy the file. Select that. Press home (which brings you to the root of your SD card), then press the "Up" button (which essentially begins accessing system files) until you can see the system folder. Paste here. Press and hold the file again and select "Permissions." Check The read and write of the first row, and read only of the next two rows. Move the file. Navigate to the framework folder and drop and overwrite. Reboot.
I use wanam xposed and xposed. There's an option to turn off tethering provisioning their.

Flash all your apps at one time (makes life so much easier)

Here is a .zip where you can flash all your apps in one fell swoop.
This is not my work but something Silesh made for me. I don't think he will mind me sharing it.
I use it all the time and it saves me tons of time not having to install my apps manually.
All you need is WinZip
Just put all your apk files into the data/app folder
and flash away.
What I do is flash the rom and fully boot it first,
then I go back into recovery and flash this .zip.
Boom, all my apps installed. Very nice!
I put just one apk in there. Clean Brower, just so it will work and I can post it here.
Another trick is, using Root Explorer on you phone, just copy your data/app folder from your rom
Then replace that app folder in this .zip and all your apps will be in there.
The advantage to doing this is even when you update or add new apps your apps from the playstore or other, the updated apks will end up in this flashable .zip.
Just make sure when using WinZip when you "add files" and add the app folder you drag it into the data folder. (first delete the app folder that is already in there.)
Again all credit goes to Silesh
Just thought I'd share this.
..
Thanks :good:
Nice to have. Thanks for sharing.
Very good!
Thanks for you. It really works.
Please, can you show, how I can use your zip for another devices? May be for I9000?

Yes thanks.
I have a couple other apps that create flashable zips
But none work as good as the script Silesh has made.
One has an aroma installer but it also has alot of bugs.
Copying my data/app folder into Silesh's .zip works flawless for me.

Aroma Installer
Here is an apk that basically does the same thing.
You can use it to backup and reflash all your apks in recovery at the same time.
This one uses an aroma installer which is nice because you can check or uncheck only the apps you want to install.
It will also do system apps.
Not my work. Had this kicking around from a older phone.
Seems to work fine on the Mega.
Just sharing.

Are you asking or stating? If you are stating, then you may have gotten a bad download. I just re-verified the download and all is well. The file is very small.
Works perfectly. Thanks!
After reboot, original build.prop is back and the vzw files dropped the .bak. I am rooted, but not unlocked so wp is on, and I guess native tether is not gonna work. Didn't try it before reboot though.

@Topsnake, is it possible to rig your previous MOD ([MOD][ROOT]Native Wireless Tether for build 19.6.3) for 4.4.4?
It appears that having a modded VZWEntitlementServices.apk which takes care of the native tether and only that is a cleaner solution than modifying the build.prop as the latter is referenced a lot by many processes which, consequently, could lead to far reaching side effects.
BTW, do you know if anyone tried your VZWEntitlementServices.apk on 4.4.4?

Thought I replied to this.
The 19.5.3 would probably work for 4.4.4 but I haven't tried it.
The build.prop is a much cleaner install when done correctly.

@Topsnake can you please elaborate on the changes you made to the stock buiuld.prop file?
I know you've mentioned in another thread that your method and the one using EntitlementBypass-v1.2.apk (from Moto X forum) are using the same commends. Would I be correct assuming that you've:
1. Added net.tethering.noprovisioning=true
and
2. Changed ro.mot.tether_dun_required to 0
Are those are the only difference between your build.prop and the stock one?
The reason I ask, is that, as I said earlier in this thread, build.prop is pretty significant file (from what I understand) and sets a lot of variables and settings. I'm hesitant to modify it in fears that by enabling native tether other unwanted side effects would arise.
Thanks

line 259 net.tethering.noprovisioning=true appears to be the only addition to the original build.prop
Should the result should be the same if we just edit the prop.buld right on the device and add that line?

So then copy the contents of the build prop into yours or replace it all together. It takes of all about 3 seconds.
It will be the same.
Whelp that's it's for me @NWKENT @Jaocagomez @Caseyk621 @bigv5150 @rmjones2006 i'm done helping this community and dealing with all these people who feel like something is owed to them. It's been fun.
Topsnake, thank you! For all you have done in the past and now.

"I'm not required to disclose the details of any mod to you" - this might or might not be true as I'm not familiar with Open Source Licensing and you might be required to disclose. Regardless, you did not, that's part why you came across as not completely honest.
The fact that most developers (Jcase, Faux123, beaups, iKrYpToNiTe, just to name a few) DO disclose everything makes me thank that you might be required to do full disclosure.
"Either apply it, or don't." - I did not. I applied command provided by iKrYpToNiTe

If you are really that concerned about the build.prop being altered in a way that you feel the need to be worried, then simply compare your current build.prop to the modified one that topsnake has provided. It's that simple. No need to start arguments about what one person feels is better or safer or whatever else you think; I personally research anything that I do to my phone by tearing down apk's or batch files or whatever it might be that I'm applying to my phone to see what is being done. By doing this it also helps you learn how these exploits work and helps you learn more about your phone in general.
If you're not comfortable with changing files then don't do it. It's that simple.
Not calling any one particular person out in general, but there is so much of the same information continually being repeated that it is extremely frustrating. I'm to the point where I don't even try and help because I'm just repeating what I said a page or two back, or the post directly below.

[MOD] [SILENT CAMERA] Simple No-Flash Silent Camera Mod for V20

Hey everyone, so i never really post mods or anything, and I'm not sure if this truly constitutes a mod, because it's just a simple copy paste job, but here are all of the files to copy to your V20 in order to have a silent camera and video camera.
**MUST BE ROOTED**
Every noise that's associated with the camera apk will be gone with no flashing of any kind! All you're doing is simply replacing all of the files on your device with the ones in the attached zip file! Your camera will now be completely silent without having to use a modded camera apk or flashing any sort of files in twrp.
(New Method provided by stangdriver. can flash his file Silent_Camera.zip in twrp if you'd rather flash than manually copy/paste!)
Instructions:
1.) Download the attached zip file
2.) Extract and copy all 15 files to system/media/audio/ui. Make sure permissions are set to rw-r-r correctly
3.) Reboot
Alternate Instructions (thanks to stangdriver!)
1.) download Silent_Camera.zip
2.) Flash in TWRP
3.) Reboot to system
done!
Now you've got a completely silent V20 camera! Instructions 1:http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/593c8892b4fad/V20SilentCameraFiles.zip
Instructions 2:

Not sure if you or maybe users viewing this thread are interested, but I made a zip installer that replaces the files and sets permissions by just flashing in recovery.
These are not my files, just used the donwload from the OP and made a flashable zip.
So users can either use the instructions from above or flash the attachment from below.
If you do the manual way as posted above, make sure and set permissions for the new files to 644 (rw-r--r--)
Good luck and enjoy the silent camera!
good tip, stang! I'll post your file in the op as well!

That's right. I am waitng for someone to be first and test it out. Im not good with that and would be not possible to fix it.

It works too in a H990ds. Used the instructions #1
Used Stang's zip file.
Working flawlessly in H990ds.
Thank you.
Zip works great on my h910. Thanks for this.
Mod works great!
Do you know if there is a way to keep music playing while using camera app? (Like Google Camera)
Thank you very much
This also, works for the LG V30. Thanks.

Works well. Instead of flashing zip, I extact into the ui folder and overwrite all the files. Make copies of original if you want to backup.
