My back glass cracked so I bought an ArmorSuit MilitaryShield Carbon Fiber skin. Very easy, dry application. Looks pretty nice too!

Will love to see more pics of it from different angles .
TBH , It appears as if It's a Moto Razr , with Kevlar skin.

How did it break? I have the sprint model and I set my phone down next to a laptop exhaust port. Cool glass meets warm table annnndd......spiderweb. I actually picked it up and watched it crack all over. Lol luckily it was within 30 days of getting it so I exchanged it for a new one and bought a case.

Set it down on a wooden desk like every day, with a case on! No visible damage or anything.. Hour later I just hear it cracking.

The rear glass is very delicate, I have read people posting that even with the cover on, the glass split into millions of pieces.

I think some are stronger than others. I've had my phone for a year with a thin diztronic tpu case and I have zero damage.

probably the ones that broke were of inferior quality . First batch maybe ?
I have also heard that the AT&T versions were the ones with highest quality.

Mine is likely first batch. Got it week three of November 2012.

Heat
Does the skin make the phone build up heat faster? I'm only asking because it might shorten the battery life faster in the long run.

Not any hotter than usual.

I dropped my lg once without a case on onto concrete. It bounced off a bottom corner and sent a curved crack up the back, and may have harmed a small portion of my digitizer in the same corner it bounced from and that's about it. I bought the cruzer lite case about a week after that happened, about a year ago, and I've dropped it several times on rougher surfaces with no additional damage. Not sure if the case is that badass for just being plastic, but it keeps me worry free.

I use a case that I picked up at Verizon. It's not nearly as rugged as an OtterBox but it's gorgeous, low-profile, and has a kickstand. The holster is kind of a tight fit, but I have never used holsters anyway (a nice screen protector is good enough for me.) I've dropped my phone from two feet a couple of times and it's still ok, but I wouldn't place a ton of faith in this case when it comes to trauma.
vz. to/QZg3g1 (shortened Verizon link - remove the space after the "." as I can't post links yet.)
lol @ rezzed thread....I dunno if this is the same one he got way back when, but since I just got the phone here is my body glove case. I like it so far. I can rest it on the screen side without worrying about a piece of sand or something scratching it. Getting a skinomi to protect the screen anyway though.

I've used Skinomi on multiple products in the past, never had a single problem. I wonder if you got a bad one, or if they recently changed their mfg process? I've used them on both my touchpad tablets, asus transformers, htc evo, htc view 4g...
I've also used bestskinever, zagg, some german company, the generic garbage at vzw and sprint stores, as well as cheap ebay junk. Skinomi is the only brand I liked. Feels good to draw on, no "scratches" present on the skin like with other brands (especially prevalent on the view 4g with the pen. Friend had one as well with a BSE skin on it, and you could see marks all over the screen protector that never went away).
I'm going to stick with them unless they really did change their product. If they did, I'll know in a few days.

First of all, let me be the first one to thank you for doing this. I came from Atrix HD and only thing I miss is the carbon fiber back.
Now, can you please explain how you managed to cut it so clean? Made a template first? I'd love to do this to mine!
Also, do you think that will hold the back glass together better? How thick and durable is it? I know people have had issues with glass cracking but I'd love to have carbon fiber look with some added protection.

Well from start to finish, about 10 minutes.
I ordered the 2 sheets of 4"x8" sample of Carbon Fiber from http://www.carbonfiberfilm.com/ It's the high end 3M stuff used in Custom Car applications and other things. Very good quality stuff. The 4"x8" sheets come with free shipping, where as the next size up is 12"x12" costs $15 bucks but has like $15 dollars in shipping.
It cut very easily with a simple cheap X-acto knife. I used a ruler (well really, it was a piece of Model train EZ Track since I couldn't find my a ruler and upstairs was so far upstairs and I was being lazy. I did two cuts (one long and one short side) to get straight edges using the pattern of the carbon fiber as the guide. I then laid it on the back of the phone to get that size of the glass insert, and cut the other two sides. I still had the original back plastic sticker on the device so I pulled that off and used it as a template for the speaker and camera. I centered it on the carbon fiber, taped it down and then started cutting away at it with my X-acto knife. The first time, I stuck it on the back of the fiber not thinking thus the wrong speaker/camera locations. I actually took 2 seconds and thought about it on the second one.
It's probably the thickness of a Zagg Invisi-shield. I would assume it would give some extra strength to the back glass, I'm no materials expert. I just wanted something with some texture.
Two months later and this had held up like a champ. Better than the zag on the front even. No issues around the edges no Marks on it. Looks great.

Thats not me...
I've had the 9H for 2-3 months now and mine has started to lift a little. It started last week and stretches from the upper left hand corner to the edge of the glass directly above the Samsung S.
It's no better than a $7 one from ebay and their CS is far from impressive.
Try the MIME USA Feather Glass, rated 9H and .15mm thick. Mine has been on for a couple of months and still looks brand new.

Flossy Carter made a review of this on youtube if you want to check it out!
I used the MIME Ghost Glass on my S4 and was amazing so I bought it for the Note 3 and I'm loving it as well. Plus lifetime warranty. It ever breaks... It's half price to replace as many times as you need to.
Thing about those lifetime warranties is that you could buy at least 2 generic ebay ones for the price of one MIME replacement (or w/e brand).
Yeah but they are better. The cheap ones a lot of the time don't add the oleophobic coating they start to look bad in a short amount of time. My S4 looks today like it did it did when i put it on back in June.
ive been using the iloome one for over a month now and it gets scratched REAL easy. then again ive been trying to see just how scratch resistant it is by sliding it around on a smooth table face down. and yeah it scratches SO easy wow. i havent tried other ones but im sure they all do.

No problems. But I do use the magnetic accessory from a spigen that holds the cover closed. The cover was able to stay closed before I used this magnetic addition, however after prolonged use (being flipped open and folded over) it would have a tendency to not lay flat on the screen. This was always a tendency of the S view cover and not due to the glass screen protector.

May I ask which one you bought? I'm trying to decide between the Sparin or intelliGLASS HD. Both have decent reviews but I no nothing about either company.
I got the intelliglass one.. Its still solid no complaints
Sent from my SHIELD Tablet using Tapatalk
Go for the Intelliglass...
Easy to clean, looks beautiful, covers the entire screen (ambient sensor etc), and is always slippery lol (awesome oleophobic coating)
Thanks for the quick responses. I'll probably order the Intelliglass screen protector along with a case. Random question for you both: Do you have any random separation between the casing and the screen around the speaker grill? Mine had a very small one and I'm thinking of exchanging it
I have purchased the Sparin one, and it was fine but extremely difficult to put on correctly. The 9H hardness level means that it's going to be a bit brittle so you can't use the tape trick if you get dust under it.
I bought the Sparin one. As to a comment above...all tempered glass screen protectors are brittle. If you get dust trapped underneath, you must take great care to lift it without breaking it. I had to lift mine as I put it on a bit off center. I used a razor blade along an edge to lift it up and reapply it, with no issues. I have a review of it and an "Exact" brand case on this forum, with pics. Also, the Sparin does NOT have the cutout for the sensors. Even without the cutout, I've noticed no issues with the sensors not working. As to smoothness, I notice no difference between the naked glass and the now covered glass. As to sensitivity, I laid the cover on top of the screen while it still had the peel off protective layer on it, while it was still in it's protective foam envelope (was checking for rough size) and I still had no issues with the screen picking up my finger. Even though the 3 extra layers of material were basically opaque, i could still easily see stuff moving under my finger through all 3 layers with the screen set at max bright.
I have the Intelliarmor one installed and love it. Their oleophobic coating is the best of all the tgsp's I've tried on multiple devices. They're not the cheapest but their customer support is great though most sellers on amazon would gladly send a replacement even if you're the one who messed up the tgsp.

Good screen protector

Has anyone found a good, glass screen protector? The one I purchased doesn't stick at the edges. I've heard others having the same problems with other brands (which probably all come from the same factory).
Thanks!

Sorry for bad picture.
I had the same issue as you guys. Then I found a brand called Skinomi that I ordered from Amazon and had it professionally installed at a gadget shop. The skin was bubbly for about a week but then amazingly it sucked clean down to the screen and is immaculate! It took days to adhere and form. No bubbles and it actually heals itself. Also it has a no glare feature which is great for using outdoors. I really suggest the Skinomi brand. It's red and has a ninja design on the box.
Hello, has anyone tested this one? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2pc...oft-Tempered-Glass-For-Nokia/32851366697.html
The one that comes with it when ordering at amazon is from Gepard/Lamel and has the same problem and doesnt even cover the whole screen (1-2mm from both sides are not covered).
Not glass, but so far I'm happy with the Military Shield one I bought ... I've used the brand in the past with good durability. This one feels more slippery than the old ones and less prone to finger prints.
It does stop just shy of the curved edges, because nothing flexible would stick out there
I installed this one from Aamzon https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07D3GG6ZX it fits nicely, I'd say there is less than 0.5mm on the edge of the phone. it covers the whole screen. It is different from the old tempered glass I am used to use, this one seems to have glue on the border and nothing in the screen area, there is some moiré when light reflects on it.
Bought this one from AliExpress (aliexpress [dot] com/item/Glass-for-nokia-5-protective-glass-for-nokia-6-2018-2-3-630-tempered-glas-screen/32897562415.html), will let you know if it fits once it arrives from the slow boat from China in... 45 days LOL
