Right now I'm running jellybomb test ver. 3. Flipping back and forth between that and stock. Patiently waiting for cm or aosp.

I tripped knox and dont give a flying fart about it.

I tripped it and don't care that I did, but if a way came out to reset it I'd use it just because... If it never does oh well. I'm not going to own a phone I can't use.

I did, don't really care about it, i wish CM11 would hurry and come out. It looks so gorgeous on other phones.
I know it takes time though

Rooted but not tripped. I'm so happy with this phone stock rooted, I don't feel any need to trip it - not that I'm anal about tripping Knox, I just don't feel the need.

You can do the battery percentage in the stock TW launcher. It's buried int he settings...
You can also do some neat stuff like that using wanam in the stock rom too. I haven't seen anything worth flashing yet.

Yeah I've had that since I got the phone I'm looking for a battery icon with the Percentage inside it to cut back on some of the notification bar clutter.

It's great to see more and more people chime in to this thread to vote.

mine is tripped
Yeah mine is tripped and don't care. Who uses the manufacture warranty for anything anyways.
I couldn't tell you how many phones I have owned this year. I almost never make it a whole year with a phone. I'm constantly changing.
And 95% of my problems when I have had problems weren't software related they were accidental DROP Problems lol so manafacture warranty wouldn't help me anyways.
I guess some people try and beat the system which i deem pointless. But then every now and again there are legit reasons you may need to use the warranty. I waited exactly 30 days so i was out of store return policy then I rooted it. I buy my phones off contract so I dont have to worry about contractual problems.

[Q] Does Verizon care if you root?

At some point this summer I plan on buying a new phone, likely an iPhone. My Samsung is currently running Cyanogenmod and the UI blatantly looks much different than a stock phone.
I'm guessing the answer to all this is they won't care, but if you bring in your rooted/customized phone and the people at Verizon are transferring data or anything from that phone to a new phone or otherwise messing with your rooted phone that works fine, do they care if they notice your phone is rooted? Does it violate any terms relating to your overall contract, or does anyone have any experience with them giving you a lecture about not doing that?
I'm not sure if we are violating our contracts... but I can tell you that the last time I was in my local Verizon store, 3 out of the 4 employees I talked to were running rooted phones. If you are nervous, just Odin back to stock before you go in.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA
it's in no way a violation of the contract. Android is all open source so you can do what you want. Most people think it's pretty cool if you have a rooted/rommed phone, although I'm sure a few Verizon people frown upon it. If you bought the phone it's yours, you can do what you want lol

^ this. I wouldn't be worried and I'd even be surprised if they gave you a dumbfounded look when you said you were; it's no biggie. And yeah, just flash back to stock if anything beforehand.

You may not be doing anything legally askew, but Verizon is under no obligation to provide any support whatsoever if the phone isn't running the carrier software.

They wouldn't be supporting it. They'd be transferring his account to a new phone, which means he's going to give them money which they usually like. If he was coming in for a repair then they wouldn't. You won't have any problem.

He was asking if he'd have any trouble with them transferring data like contacts to a new device. If the new device is an android, pretty much everything including contacts is backed up on Google servers so no problem, but if he gets an iPhone like he mentioned, I'm not sure how they would transfer contact data. But that's something it might be helpful to be back on the stock software for. Just my two cents, like I said I don't know how that data transfer between a fascinate and iOS device would go.

That's what I thought too, but didn't know if that app comes on iPhones. I thought they came free of any carrier software, which is something I've gotta give Apple credit for. Although knowing how simple they make iOS devices for technologically unsavvy people, I've gotta think there's a pretty simple way to get your contacts.
I'm not really sure what you'd need Verizon for when getting a new device either, the only thing I can think of is getting your sim card for an LTE device.

[Q] Why Should I Care About the Custom Binary Counter?

Coming from HTC phones and an ASUS Transformer I've never heard of this before. This is my first Samsung rooted phone. Every time you flash a custom ROM or Kernel this count goes up. So what? I guess my warranty could be voided, but other that???
If you don't care about voiding your warranty you have no issues
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
That's pretty much it. Only noobs worry about this.
Anyway, some awesome dev will come up with a way to reset the counter, just like my other samsung phones, ie triangle away.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
I think people take this way too seriously.... When the SGS2 came out last year , I had to do a warranty exchange after only having the phone for a couple months. I was worried about returning my phone since it was rooted and I had flashed a butt load of ROM's. They sent me a new phone and I had to return mine in the same package. I was scared that samsung would totally go over the phone with a fine toothed comb and find that I had voided the warranty. Maybe I got lucky because nothing ever happened. Just my 2 cents, but when you send your warranty covered phone to Samsung, I doubt they take the time to check. Just return it to stock and dont have any signs of tweaking to it. Peace
It's on HTC phones too, and they can reset the counter.

Help

Well I have heard two different stories and its time I had the answer to which is real. The main thing I hear is that rooting automatically voids your warranty. The other thing I found out late last night in a chat with a Samsung support rep in the live chat and found out that they will repair the phone if the cause of the problem is not the root. If it is the cause , money will be charged. I really want to root and keep warranty so which one is real?

[Q] Warranty replacement

Submit either the Asurion Claim or Warranty now.
If you wait too long they will assume that the phone is no longer an active part of the account.
Right now you can claim you are using a loaner until the other is fixed.
Thanks, if I knew someone in my area that likes to root and rom there phone I would get it fixed locally and sell it to them cause is still on mdk but since I don't and don't want to sell it online I'll just warranty it and sell it brand new and get more money for it.

Also would like to know how to check if I tripped knox or anything like that but when I go into download mode there is nothing there about knox. Is it cause I'm on mdk with everything still unlocked and will show when i odin back to mdk or did knox come after mdk? I guess the worst that could happen is they send my phone back to me but just wanted some more insight on it.

Company that will take your note 2 back to stock.

I was reading in the forum about a company out of Texas that can take your phone back to stock with unlocked bootloader. I even emailed them for answers to a couple of questions that I had and they answered me back with what I needed. I am now ready to send my phone out to be fixed. Now I lost the email and for the life of me can not find that post again. If anybody knows where this imformation is, please post it here for me or give me the link.
Thank you.

Because if you took the 4.3 or higher Ota or have a phone pre-installed with it, then you can't revert back to an older version of Android where the bootloader can be unlocked. This service is supposed to be able to do that with the hardware they have.

Seems kind of crazy that if you ARE on a forum like this AND own this phone you don't know this...it is ALL over the forum about Knox & 4.3. I heard the "other" phone is on sale if you decide to get one!
Well I have my phone back and as advertised, they took my phone back to 4.1.2 with the VRAMC3 bootloader which is as we all know, unlocked. I'll tell you that it was worth every penny. And it wasn't the "lazy way out". It was the only way out. There is no way to unlock the updated bootloader, which you would know by reading the threads for this phone. And by the way, here, or XDA forums, is where I found the information to even do this. I have my unlocked phone back and am happily flashing again.

I'm surprised to see that someone else had a good experience with this company. So far dealing with this company has been a huge disappointment; not the impression I was under, considering all of the good reviews. I guess "service" just like products are like everything else...sometimes you get a lemon. I'm about to dispute the charge based on suspected fraud.

I can vouch for Josh. He does get busy. Just think about all the phone he gets sent. I will tell you that he is good for his work, will be fair, and if you have an issue, he will work something out with you (this is from my personal experience) He had my phone for over a month. But apologized for it and did not charge me the fee. (not saying he will do this for you) But I know it's hard but be patient and he will get back to you.
