I got my new Kindle HDX 8.9 which I am very impressed with from a hardware perspective.
I have a couple of questions...
Under Music it says "No Music was found on your device" and it doesn't seem to allow me to click any of the buttons to open more menus etc. I can login via my PC and see my Cloud Music, I can login via the web, but not via the Kindle. Any ideas? I am in New Zealand.
I would like to install SwiftKey or Swype, can I sideload or will this break everything?

Hello mate!
as for the music, i use google music, but the few times i tried cloud stuff in the tablet, it seems you have to either transfer stuff via USB or download stuff so then it all gets saved into the cloud service... again i havent paid much attention to this, so perhaps any other member may provide some more input...
I have installed Switkey and is rocking!
only issue is that, due to the nav bar, you loose space out of the screen and thus need to move a bit to the left the keyboard in order to fully see all the keys, other than that dont worry, it wont harm your device nor OS.

Which Cloud service are you referring to?
I side-loaded CloudAround and have been using that to stream music from my box.com account. It's working pretty well so far, though I had some issues getting it to read all of the ID3 tags initially. I found that I could just re-save any unrecognized tag data using MP3Tag, and CloudAround would pick it up after that.

i am playing with the idea of moving from google to something else, but i find hard to decide which cloud service to use...

I can sync from Google to Dolphin no problem but if add a new bookmark on phone then sync again it wont add the bookmark i just made to google
I can export my bookmarks no probem to SD card as well is importing them,
same for stock browser.
Hope someone can shed some light on this

If you have upgraded to version 5.0.0 sync to Google has been removed. In the options you will see backup and restore. Works like a champ and keeps them in alphabetical order as well.
I can't even sync from Google to phone. It just says 'Sync successfully' but no bookmarks appear in bookmarks. I already wrote to the support, so I hope they can fix it.

And what version are you using? If you look at my post above in current version 5.0.0 synch has been removed, so no matter how many times you click on synch it won't. All bookmarks to SD does now, is just that, saves your bookmarks to your memory card.
Are you sure? Because if they remove it then why is there the tab for syncing? And I wrote them that it didn't work and they just asked if I have newest version... strange. It is feature I am really looking for. I still don't understand why the default browser don't have bookmarks sync...
I will ask them again to be sure.

That is because it isn't supported anymore you need to use backup and restore inside of the dolphin settings. From what I remember it was like version 6.9 or so they stopped using it.

Thanks for the answer! I read that in several different forums but it was never stated in any Dolphin forum so I just wanted to check... it actually sucks pretty bad and makes me want ICS even more so I can use the Chrome browser.
It works on my Streak 7 ICS build and it makes it real nice to be able to go from computer to tabler and have all that right there

They discontinued support because they did not agree with Google's privacy policy. Bad enough Big Brother knows what you are looking and for how long, but now they want to know what bookmarks you keep.... Am with you on ICS that is why I can't wait till the Note drops in prices, think Streak 5 seeing it was crushed by a bus in South Korea (hPA's work, _n0p_ said his skill set was well above his and was the one the few that might have made it happen....).

Yeah I hear ya... I was looking at one Saturday at the Samsung store at the mall, and it's lighter than my Streak but just a hair thicker since it has that rounded back, but that makes it more comfortable to hold, and the form factor is no larger than the Streak so I will definitely be getting one as soon as it comes down in price from the clouds or a good used one

Has anyone had any luck with automatic syncing of folders from their PC to their tab over their home wifi connection?
We don't have unlimited data here, so can't use a service such as Dropbox.
I basically want to setup a folder on my PC which holds recorded TV, digital books, etc... and when I get home and my tablet picks up the wifi network - it sync the content in that folder.
Running Windows 7... all the applications I've tried either time out, or corrupt the data on the tab... I've also been unable to get the FTP versions working stable.
Try SugarSync. You'll be amazed
SugarSync in great but it is cloud based app.
If you need "pure" wi-fi sync try SimpleSync.

Thanks - ended up returning my tablet because of the display issues, 2 with dead pixels, 1 with newton rings...

What would be the difference in using a sync program to download music/videos versus just copying it to the tab?
Because copying it to the tab would requre the USB connection.
Instead of a wifi sync, why not just mount a windows/cifs network folder onto your tab. This is what I do.
Of course this requires a custom kernel that has cifs module.. but totally worth it.
Gotcha. So its just easier to copy through wifi, so you can freely add and move songs and have it update w/o having to connect. Which SYNC program do you use? I would use dropbox, but I dont want it to sync all my other drop box stuff.

I'm not sure you get wheat I am saying. I don't use a sync program but simply share via my network drive that is mounted on my tab. When I want to copy to local storage, I just use any file manager app.

You can try this - websharing
It's free in android market.
I set up network shares on my windows PC, then I use File Manager HD to copy files from the network shares to my tablet.
This seems like a better and easier option to me than trying to get a custom kernel and setting up a share on the tablet.
I assume setting up a network share would be something that was always on and open. On a tablet it could be a constant drain as it would be another constant running process, and also it could be a security risk as you take your tablet out onto open public wifi access points.
leaving the sharing to your home PC, on only your home network seems like the better option.
I haven't tried it but the WD Live drive with the WD2go software is listed as being able to sync folders with mobile devices.
I have tried the WDphotos with one of our WD NAS drives at work and it did work.
Anyone have an alternative to Awesome Drop? - i do not want dropbox - i'm looking for a easy way to get small files from my PC to Phone quickly through my wifi. No programs etc. Like awesome drop, it'd be great to have it go from browser, but if not just suggest me some.

While this is an app, Sugar Sync is an amazing(and free) app that auto syncs whatever you want, photos, videos, or even certain folders. Look it up, and see if you like it!

To transfer files between phone and pc on wifi I use Samba fileserver. It just turns your phone's internal SDCard into a network share. Free market app. Configure once. Does one thing and does it well. Presto.

There's an optional Chrome browser plugin that resembles the Chrome-to-Phone functionality as well. No user accounts required. The file size is currently limited to 10 Megabytes.

Awesome drop doesn't work with ICS so I gave this a try, and it works great! Thanks for the App.

I picked up a Zeki TB782B for my kids to use and I have been really happy with it as an entertainment tablet. I have put my daughters gmail account into it and gmail works great, but contacts app does not show up anywhere including apps. It is on the tablet as a native app, Titanium is backing it up and it seems like it should be running. I rolled back the system updates to the app and still nothing.
BTW, came stock with 4.0.3 and it came stock rooted with busybox! I love it.
Any ideas???

I have added the gmail and used my yahoo account it pulls up but no contacts listed how do i get these to show -also
when i am in the photo galley and click on a picture in the upper right hand corner is a sideways triangle (share button) a trash can and menu
however if i select the share button it does nothing - my daughter and i have the same tablet and hers allows her to email the photo quickly by tapping this icon < and gives her like twitter etc options to send the picture too however mine does not - i called the tech support and they were no help can you please advise on how to get this option available on mine- thanks

I have a nexus 7, and have been looking at putting a tablet in my truck. Dash mounted. I figured I would just buy two of these for the same price, but I cant seem to find anyone saying if this tablet has GPS or not
PLEASE let me know if it has GPS, I would probabley just tether it or use a gps app that downloads the maps. That is what I was goign to do with my nexus but dont want to spend anymore money and want to leave the tab in the dash permanently so I want two lol

I have the TB892B and have been trying to do some upgrades. Many posts say that the TB782 ROM will work but when I installed it, the screen resolution is wrong. It shows a 7" screen on an 8" device and the first inch and top inch of the screen are repeated like wraparound. So it can be used but it is too distracting to have parts of the screen duplicated.

[I have the Zeki 7" tablet TB782B and have downloaded and saved several movies (not to an SD card) using the Comcast Xfinity TV Player. How do I locate those files so that I can delete them and free up storage space? I used one of the file managers but I cannot find the files. Thanks!
So, my gallery app is so slow that it is almost unusable. If I open it, I get a bunch of blank boxes that take forever to populate. I think it has something to do with me checking 'sync picasa', 'sync facebook', etc. options when I setup the phone. Can somebody tell me how to unsync these galleries? I went to the Facebook account settings and unchecked sync pictures, but I still have a bunch of albums and it's crazy slow.
Any ideas?

Yeah, I already ended up unchecking the sync pictures boxes for Facebook and for Picasa. But the albums are still there in gallery. Maybe I should clear data for gallery or something?

After waiting a while, and they have the picasa and facebook icons. So it's still pulling my galleries off the web, even though it is no longer synced. I also wiped the gallery app data, and they are still there. I think that is why the app is so freaking slow for me.
you could try uninstalling facebook and try running a 3rd party facebook app. I personally can't stand the stock facebook app for crap like this and the way its always running.
as far as picasa, if you use it, i'm not sure what else could be done. if you dont't use it, you can remove a lot of its functions via the pc. and that would clear that up.
I have a tip for you OP.
Turn off Wifi then try using your Gallery.
Not really a solution for the stock gallery but I've used Quickpic for as long as I can remember and it's always fast, reliable, and no sync issues to deal with. Currently I use that for normal picture management and use the stock gallery in the rare instance I need Picasa or Facebook photos synced.
Yeah I have found I have this issue if I am connected to wifi at my house.. I know the reason too. Looks like the phone is trying to connect to my networks dlna server (plex) which for whatever reason it is unable to do.. I just removed allshare and the problem is gone.. you can either rename the three or so files in your app dir (if you have root) or you can install a ROM as most of them give you an option to not install allshare.

I'm sure you've heard this plenty, but great to see you on here kejar31! I've used your roms on at least 4 or 5 phones over the last couple years. Glad you are enjoying some downtime these days .

Yep I was just under the assumption that the OP is on stock firmware.
