[Q] Ereader+bluetooth-dongle+bluetooth keyboard? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The (E-ink) Onyx Boox c65 runs android 2.3. (can't link, I'm new user)
Would it be possible to connect a bluetooth keyboard via a usb-bluetooth dongle inserted in the Ereader mini usb slot?
Hope this is the right forum

It's impossible. For a USB dongle, you need OTG functionality (USB Host). The Onyx devices don't have it (from a hardware perspective).

Ah ok. But a USB-OTG cable doen't gives that functionality?

No, you need the hardware of the device to support OTG (and then also the kernel) and the hardware of the Onyx C65 does not support it, no matter which cable you use.

I believe that USB OTG's architecture requires integration on a hardware level. Most USB devices don't have this capability, nor are they flashable to support it. It would be nice to have USB OTG functionality on all mobile device, though.
Seagate just announced their GoFlex Satellite WiFi streaming portable hard drive. Looks pretty slick and may be a good alternative to not having USB OTG. Check it out:

No...you are wrong.it is possible to get usb otg support to your x10.read this forum and do steps as it says.your x10 will also support otg devices....

OTG USB Keyboard/Mouse/Pad support

Has anyone tried running keyboards, mouse or gamepads with JellyBean?
I don't have OTG Cable and I can't test any device, but if someone have tested it with the JB update can talk about it here and let the others Desire X's users know
I've tried mouse and usb flash drive. Both work just fine

mouse works fine!
I will buy a OTG cable soon. I would try to test any gamepad device, I have two 360 Controller (one wired, one wireless with respective receiver). I read from somewhere in xda that now it's possible to connect wireless receiver to Android... well, I swear that our DX can support it too! It will be great for emulators like ePSXe...
Does it support USB 2.5 inch harddisks as well? Did anyone test? I will buy an otg cable soon, too, so I would like to know if it works...
well, Joysticks and Controller does'nt work for me
but Flash Drive, Keyboard, Mouse Does
although USB OTG is Very CHEAP
Costed me 30 INR or $0.55
Did you download any app? And what ROM are you using?

I'm using myONEdx+ RC 1.0, finally I got a OTG usb cable today and I tested a usb PC keyboard and a wireless mouse with usb receiver and both work fine.

I suppose that usb HDD without external AC input won't work, I think that Desire X's usb doesn't have enough power for that.

What joysticks and controller did you tested? I will try with an USB Xbox360 controller when I'm done with my exams.

Just got a usb harddrive to work using external power. It's ntfs formatted, so I used Paragon NTFS mount from Play Store. The drive itself doesn't have a power supply, but I connected a USB Y-power cable to it and plugged in the other side to my laptop. Will try a mobile USB charger as well as soon as I'll get one.

But the xbox controller in the video is a wired one, mine is like the one attached in the photo, wireless controller with Windows receiver (also, mine is a third party receiver). Also I tried with others USB PC adapters I have, like one N64+PSX to usb and another one that is 2 PSX/2 controllers to USB, and don't work on it. If I can, I will try on a Xperia Ray and look if it works on it...

Help connecting portable external hard drive to my Tablet Z

Hi all, I have purchased a 1TB harddrive and an otg cable. I can connect the harddrive with the otg cable into my Galaxy S4 phone and it can read the harddrive flawlessly.
However, when I attempt to connect it to my tablet Z, the hard drive makes clicking sound, sounding like a motor failing to run. And as expected, the tablet z cant detect it.
So I would like to know if the tablet z is not strong enough to power the harddrive and any solutions to work around this problem. Thanks!
My galaxy S4 is rooted, my tablet z is not, if that has to do with helps.
The harddrive is also portable.

Think this might be the case where S4 support NTFS(my note I does as well ) and XTZ only see Fat32 or ExFat...

If it's a power issue you could put a powered usb hub between the otg cable and the disk.
Or you could buy a usb powerpack and plug the usb power cable into that, assumming the drive has a cable with 2 usb connectors.

I don't know about stock ntfs support but I do know there are apps that enable ntfs support.
The downside is they require root.

I was replying from my tablet and I don't like to type on the thing.
I'm on my laptop now...
Any way, here you go:
Paragon exFAT, NTFS & HFS+
[root] Ntfs Mounter
Both available in the play store.
I've never used them, you have to try it yourself.
Hope this helps.
Paragon works flawlessly on the Tablet Z.

OTG Functionality?

Any of you lucky HDX owns know if it supports USB OTG (MicroUSB to normal USB)? I've seen some specs saying it does. If so:
Does it support a USB keyboard/mouse?
Does it support Mass Storage? (Flash Drives/Card Readers)
If #2, what file systems? FAT, NTFS, exFAT?
I just hook up the USB 2GB thumb drive, it's a no go.

I was wondering if a USB keyboard would. A number of tablets (e.g. Nexus) don't directly support USB flash, but do support USB keyboards.
It is good they are supporting Bluetooth.

dslr controller
Has anyone connected any of the hdx tablets to a cannon dslr?
You have found a very outdated thread., but information is still valid. Will not work, because no OTG
Btw, my friend confirmed that otg works with stick mount pro 3.26 on New Fire HDX 8.9 (Saturn)

OTG

Will it be possible to make OTG working in d620r?
I wanted to use logitech f710 gamepad but it doesn't work
And will dualshock from ps3 work with my device?
I would like to have OTG too, I hope the developers work in that because it's usefull
As far as i know we don't have the hardware for USB OTG.

And we won't have any chance for this? Maybe it's just software thing?
For OTG, your device needs to supply USB attached devices with power. So, it is a hardware problem.

We had the same issue with the Motoroly Defy+ (my previous phone), but Quarx made it possible, with his CM11. Perhaps after a while, we might see something like that with our LG G2 mini.
