[Q] Custom ROM bug reports - Motorola Droid RAZR

How do I report a bug for CM Nightly ROMs?

report it
find the developer in charge of your rom and tell him or go to the fourm under android development and comment it and boom you told him.

I have no reply option in any threads in the development section. Obviously I do here. Any ideas?
Do you need special permission to post there?

You have to post 10 times or more in the general areas of the forum before you can post in the development side.

Thanks, I thought it might be something like that. This seems to be the only forum with any info about CM 11.
The latest nightly is working well for me so far.

BTW, I'm using the latest nightly. Deleted my slot 1, created a 2 GB app partition, flashed the 16 and then the 18 nightly. Had a few bumps but after several reboots is seems solid now.
Might be a battery hog but that will take awhile to determine.
What problems are you having?

The option, provided in the Developper Options doesn't work for me. It tells me to wait to create bug report, but never prompts me to send it. I'm using latest CM 11 nightly on umts_spyder (18.12.2013)

Not many problems. I did have an issue where I would get an occasional signal loss that would not come back without a reboot. I was able to fix it though. Go to Safestrap boot menu. Go to Advanced. Then do "Fix Permissions". It seems to have fixed this problem. So far, it is a very solid and smooth ROM.

Someone on Google+ told me that you can not submit bug reports on Nightlies. Once you can post in the main forum, hopefully they will see the bugs you have.

DK are you sure you gave them the one you gave me last night? The first one I tried boot looped even after a clean SBf. Then he fixed it and I was in with no problems with the second zip he gave me.
The Rom is very fast also. I am getting above 3000 on benchmark 2011 also. Keyboard feels very good nice feel. Very different from any other rom.

Could we use the same SD card fix for this as we did for cm7. If so I will try it for a few days if not I'm going to hang with cm7 till later and then try it. Btw for those of you running it. how does it compare with cm7. I can't flash it till later on when I get off work.

Jelly Bean's Google Now for ICS (FULLY FUNCTIONAL!!)

*Cleaned up OP. Started collecting too many old links. *
I saw this on the news page and have been following it since then. Google Now finally comes to ICS and should work with any AOSP ROMs.
Latest Development as of 8-6-12: There has been some new developments on this. XDA user cajunflavoredbob has put together a nice write up on explaining everything and new downloads. Check it out here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29756226&postcount=2856
I flashed it right over my ParanoidAndroid ROM and also AOKP and it works great. Should work fine on CM9 as well but I havent tested that. As always, backing up before flashing is a good idea.
VIDEO: XDA member Tomsgt has made a video showing how to install and also a little sample of what it looks on our phone. Check it out here:

I saw this on the news page. I believe CM9 is AOSP based so it should work for us too. I'm in the process of backing up my ROM now before trying it. I'm at work so I may not get around to it right away. But if anyone else wants to try it out, here is the link:

EDIT: Ok, I got it working partially. The voice search, for some reason, doesnt work. But manually typing it in does. I dont know if there is a fix for that. I'm in the forum seeing if there are any answers to this. But it does work, somewhat, if anyone wants to try it out.

I will post here when there is voice search fix. Apparently its getting worked on. As it is right now though, its pretty cool. Searching for stuff works just the same and you get the "cards" feature. I never used the Google search box before so I didnt really mind replacing it.
Bump for OP change.
So far I'm not too impressed with how it works in cm9. It's very sluggish for me, I have to touch the screen after searches to get results to "refresh", and it has caused a reboot twice while doing a voice search. I flashed via cm7 recovery, cleared dalvik and cache. Also for some reason I can't get it to add a shorts team to the sports card.

The search results show in google now's built in browser. I dont think you can change that. But any link you select in the results should open in whatever browser you have set as default.

So is this even worth flashing? Is it still sluggish and not very fluid? I'm guessing yes seeing as we still have an old kernal?

It is still a little buggy/sluggish. But every feature is present in this. You will get notifications and cards and voice search and it will talk back to you. If you don't even use the built in search now, then you have nothing to lose.

CM10 battery problems...

I keep reading these reports of users with AMAZING battery life... Before i ever rooted my LTEvo, my battery would last for a day and a half with moderate use. I could be running my hotspot and using the phone with my phone plugged in and it would still charge in an hour and a half! Now with CM10, my battery dies in less than a day with light-moderate use, and when i have it plugged in and use basic apps like facebook with no hotspot running, my phone wont charge past the percentage it's already at... what gives?
Sent from my EVO using xda app-developers app
Try a factory reset, if that doesn't work go into recovery and run a wipe script, reflash the ROM and boot to boot loader and fastboot the kernel and try again, keep in mind that cmx is still a nightly. I myself am starting to see battery life close to what I had before so its definitely coming along
---------- Post added at 08:37 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:36 PM ----------
Please make sure you have at least 50% battery I say 60% some say 40% anyways you can let the phone charge in twrp for a bit if the battery is too low
Flash the new kernel. Its amazing.
Thanks I haven't downloaded the newest nightly, I mean I know you where talking to that guy but I always stay a day behind to see who has what issue lol
Also I recommended he try a wipe because I had 3 people pm me about that charging problem and 2 said it stuck after factory reset and after flashing new rom

Same here. Tried their build and ran through all the steps we needed on the old Carbon build with no success. It doesn't recognise the Sim card.
Sent from my Rezound using Tapatalk 4
Have you guys tried pulling the sim, booting without sim, then going to settings and making sure they are set correct? There's an xda thread somewhere but I remember running into the same problem and that fixed it. It has to do with roaming settings i think
The 9/21 build of Vanir for Rezound Snuzzo did is solid as a rock; I'm in the process of de-stockifying and updating a replacement GB Rezound I just picked up to replace the Rezound I had that decided to check out my sump pump's crock close up and personal like (apparently it was a suicide mission).
There's a 10/17 build Snuzzo did of Vanir I will hope to have running tonight. The 9/21 build was awesome.
Give 10/20 a shot.

10/20 runs great. Just heed the admonition about messing with the CDMA or you will most assuredly bork your radios and have to roll back to a RUU and start over. Been there, done that, just loads of fun. Not. (You CAN switch network mode from global to LTE/CDMA, but then get the heck outta there).
Funny -- I just "discovered" this ROM for my Nexus 7 and was thinking I'd like to try it on my Rezound too. Should've known it would already be available if I just looked around for it!

[Q] Problem with Gapps, running CM11 latest nightly

I'm having a serious issue with my Google Apps recently. My stock rom updated over OTA so I had to re-root/reinstall CM11, and when I was installing Google Apps it failed a few times and then worked.
The problem I'm having is that Android Device Manager will be very inaccurate (up to 2,400 meters), and sometimes won't find the device at all. When I am running my stock rom the ADM finds the device very accurately (<10 meters).
I just re-flashed/reinstalled everything and I'm still getting the same issue. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Well, depending on how much time you have on your hands, and everything is backed up. You could use mattlgrof's utility to flash your firmware back to stock, reroot, dont accept OTA, then freeze the OTAupdater with an app like Titanuim backup so you don't get/have to worry about accidently accepting the OTA. And you wouldn't be bothered with the notifications if you use the stock ROM This works even better if CM11 is your daily driver, and you don't really use stock. I assume you are on BMM? If you are on safestrap, you can flash the stock slot with CM11.
If you still have the problem, you will at least know it wasn't the OTA.
So you think the problem would be fixed if I simply flashed CM on my stock slot? I'm pretty sure it was the OTA that screwed everything up. I am on safestrap.

Make a backup and try it. Custom ROM's don't recieve OTA's so... If you flash right now, and the problem persists, THEN use Mattlgrof's utility and blah blah blah, so didn't recieve the OTA, and try then. As long as you used safestrap correctly, the only thing you can lose is time.
If i recovered my stock slot to the point BEFORE i received the OTA, would that undo all the OTA changes that screwed up my phone?
My assumptions would be yes if you had one. At that point, me personally, after verifying OTA wasnt there, I would go back to safestrap and reflash cm11 and gapps. I don't know what difference it would make. I personally am always hinky about dirty flashes and such, so if I think one thing might be affecting something else I wipe and replace both. So I don't upgrade ROMs and kernels much... A lot of time setting everything back up

I would say just do a full clean class of cm11 and gapps maybe unless you just did when you flashed cm11 the last time. I think if you have cm11 and root and safestrap recovery you are good. The stock does not matter any more.

No, it is strictly a security app, so permissions for camera, messaging, and GPS. *edit* and gmail account

So I recovered my pre-ota phone and installed CM11 on my slot 1 again. No problem installing gapps, however the android device manager is still having problems communicating with my device. I will try using Avast for now.

Curious, what is the benefit of a root access security apk if you keep debugging off when not using it?
Gotya is imbedded in to the screenlock and standalone so it doesn't require internet access for a server. You can have it take pictures on a failed login, which it will send as well as GPS coordinates of where it took place to your email. You are able to send sms commands to ask it where it is, have it call you, start an alarm if you are in a large room of people, lock the device with a pin even if the SIM has been changed, and also send a message to the thief.
Just wondering if I am using the wrong security

So for me avast works the same except you can control when the gps turns on via sms say if the data is off and gps. everything can be done just with sms. The picture taking It will do but you have to pay for that. I see the use in gotya but I like avast. Also avast antitheft even with a wipe over like say you wipe the phone except the internal sd card it can still work. You will have to look into it.
