Battery Indicator goes wrong after go for 4.3 Jellybean - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

Guys. Is anyone realise something wrong with 4.3 Jellybean (batter indicator)?
I dont what its calling this problem. Just let me explain. B4 upgrade to 4.3 Jellybean on yesterday (see today date), I was on 4.2 Jellybean. I got notice my battery indicator showing 59% left. After updated to 4.3 Jellybean, its showing 19% left.
I tought battery drain because of updating the sofware. After 2 hours, the indicator still showing 19% with wifi running without stamina mode (i used whatapss n weChat too). Im impressed with this big changes.
I get back home 1hours later, put on dock charger. Then its showing 29% after 3min charging. W#F ??
I shutdown my phone left over on charging. 1 hour later when get backc the indicator showing the battery has not fully charge. I boot up my phone and seeing the battery indicator is 100%.

Not so good for the battery, but let it completely drain, until it shuts down on its own.
Connect to charger and let it charge for good 4 hours.
Turn on device. Should be good.
It happened to me before. This solved it.

Thx 4 feedbck. I will try this.

It's perfectly normal. The 4.2.2 system reads the battery state to be at 59%. Moving to a different base (4.3), the system has no idea what level the battery is at, so it more or less guesses (which might be the reason why it was "stuck" at 19%). This will get "fixed" once you charge it again though, and this happens quite often when we flash custom ROMs.

Did same falling from 73% to 29% but now back up to 51% after a bit of charging so all well so far.

Ya I too faced same thing. I was at 68% but after updating 4.3 it went down to 31%.After then charged it to 100% for 3 hours and now it seems fine.

Strange battery behaviour

My battery on my 10i is acting kind of strange.
It has happened several times now that the phone even when charged from the charger that comes with the phone, not from a pc its not charging properly.
I wake up the phone is on 100% i deside to "snooze" for an hour when i then get up the battery was on 40%, still in the charger Today almost the same only that i woke up to a battery that was on 94% even after 8 hours of charging.
Sometimes the battery life on it is good other days its not. Iv checked if there is any program running that is consuming an awfull lot of power but there aren't.
Is this the battery failing?

What you can do is install xrecovery from Z on it. And then charge is to 100% and run the reset battery fron xrecovery.
Btw, when u charge the phone it is normall that it will drop a little bit when it's at 100%, it will go down to maybe 95% and then up again.
But a drop from 10u0% to 40% is not healty.. you could download the app SystemPanal. it will monitor what your phone is doing and thereby also your battery.

I have xRecovery on it and i did the reset battery, even did a new rom update. and i use the systempanel pro for monitoring to see if there is anything that is consuming to much power but i haven't found anything yet.
its now gone from 94% to 90% (wifi on) since i got up for about 2 hours ago. Not that bad now it seems. But sometimes it just drops and drops.
Maybe i should just get a new battery, they aren't that expencive.

Well 4% with 2 hours is good with wifi on. But yeah it's weird that it drops that hard sometimes. Probably the battery itself then..
How much is a battery btw?

For me i see it is around 220NOK wich should be around 40$ around 4 beers...

I have a few questions about the battery, if you would be so kind...

Not battery life.
Today i noticed my battery meter has been sticking, any way to fix that? It'll drop 20% upon reboot.
Today i noticed that my battery would spike up from 95% to 100% while charging and not go anywhere in between,. Is that normal? Battery calibration app kept going off early, and then as soon as it hit 100% i unplugged it without calibrating it, and it dropped to 99%. Happened twice in five minutes.
Also, instead of using clockwork recovery, i use Battery Calibration app to wipe my batt stats.
What mV should i be on?
One last thing, how do you bump charge? And is it really that unsafe?

I noticed this yesterday, I had my phone plugged in and it was at 94-95% and 2 minutes later it was at 100%.
To bump charge, once your phone is at 100%, unplug your phone power it down then replug it in. Once it shows the green LED meaning 100% charged boot your phone up and keep it plugged in. Might go back to being orange saying its not 100% yet so let it get to 100%. Unplug it and replug it back in a couple times until every time you plug it in it shows green for 100%.
I would think that it would be bad for the battery if you do this every day, but I can't give a definite answer for that. I use Battery Calibration to do that too, but between today and yesterday after I flashed over the new CDMA/LTE radio leak from the Radio thread my battery life hasn't been great. Considering going back to the stock radio.
I've noticed similar things on my bolt and even my dinc. To counteract this, I stopped looking at the battery % and got battery left instead. This app tells you how much longer your battery will last in hours rather than %. I no longer freak out about my battery life, %, or what others are getting; I've never been happier.

Sounds like a good idea especially for me lol. I noticed this morning that my phone was 56%, down from 74%. 18% drain over the time span of like 6-7 hours or so while I was sleeping. Not sure how good or bad that is, but for me it was just like wow.
You're being anal. Don't worry about it. Your phone is working fine. The battery level will appear to jump around a bit, especially when going on/off charger, or rebooting. Search around if you feel a need to know why.

Battery Drained to 0%

I've been messing with my phone all night, setting up screens and what not and it just died. I plugged it into the charger and nothing for a few minutes and then the LED turned on and was white. It wouldn't start or go into charging mode. I removed the battery several times and left it out for several minutes. After leaving it plugged in for a few minutes, the LED turned green but still no startup or charging mode. After several more minutes, it finally went into charge mode and the LED turned orange and was 0%! Another 10 minutes and it was 15% and booted fine. I would think I should get warnings and if ignored, the phone would shutdown before completely draining the battery. Is there a setting somewhere I don't know about?
I don't know about any warnings...there is a battery icon on the upper right that I'd think would be fairly hard to miss? Red means charge asap. But if its completely dead, once you plug it in you have to wait a few mins for a charge to build up before you can turn it on.

Edit-
*actually just got a popup message saying i have 15% battery left.
I had an issue once where my photon got stuck at 80% and ended up dying with no error message because it wasn't reading the battery properly. I was able to see in the battery usage after I got it back on that it plateaued at 80% for quite a while. I haven't had the issue since then, but maybe you had something similar happen.

My battery indicator was stuck at 50% so it does sound like the same issue. I thought to myself "wow the battery life is much better than I thought". Guess some things are too good to be true.
Just for the record, I had a similar problem. My phone was reporting a charge of 100% but then I took out the battery, waited half a minute, and when I put it back it the phone said it only had 5% and had to charge it all the way back up!
Download Battery Monitor and put the widget on the home screen. See if its just the icon not updating or something more. I did notice once when it dropped "suddenly" but has not happened since.

I've had this for a while and used it quite a bit. I just noticed it can put the battery percentage in the notification bar and you can tell it to ignore the battery level the phone tells it and to calculate the battery to the nearest 1%! No more guessing what the actual battery level is!!!

S3 on JB not charging

Hi guys,
I've installed the latest official JB ROM and everything is fine.
However when i have the phone connected to the same power adapter and cable I normally use, the phone just doesn't charge.
Battery settings shows charging as AC, red LED is on etc.
But the percentage just hasn't moved from 51% in over an hour of charge.
Any ideas on this as it was fine on ICS LH1.
It is probably recharging, Just reboot the phone and look at the percentage again.
PS, this belongs in the Q&A
Sorry, can it be moved.
I just rebooted and it showed 50%.
A few minutes later and it's showing 49%

Don't worry about what it says on the screen. Power off the phone and plug it in so it charges quick. Unplug it when the LED is green.
OK, about to leave work so I'll try that at home.
But the % on the front was always accurate before.
Is this a bug with JB or something?
Installed wanam LIB last night. I woke up this morning after my phone has been on the charger all night and it was only showing 96%. Seems like the charging behavior, or at least the battery reporting, has been changed.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
I turned it off for 10 minutes while charging and it went from 47% to 48%.
really hoping this will fix itself with a charge to 100% while off.

yes it happened to me too. i woke up to see my phone at 7%, and i hooked it up with 15%
i'm sure i played with the charging speed while i had siyah kernel, i guess this might be the reason

Same Problem here!
Charged last night (8 hours - poweradapter) and it went from 68% to only 80 %.
... but if i charge it via PC (USB 2.0 Port) it charges normal and really quick.
I'm on DLIB (fresh install with full wipe/dalvik etc).
Don't worry about what it displays. After 1 bettery cycle it will show accurate information. If you're charging your phone and the percentage drops it means that it hasn't calibrated the battery charge information. Just use it as you would and after 1 or 2 days you will see an accurate display of battery percentage.

[Q] Something wrong with my device/battery

This is not happening for the first time...
Ever since I rooted my device and flashed Android Revolutionary Rom on it, I noticed some weird behavior with my device/battery.
Last night I drained my battery to 6% and I turned it off. This morning I charged my phone with the phone stayed off and when the battery indicator screen lighted up it was showing that 50% juice remains. Since this is not happening for the first time, this time I would like to test on it to see whether there's really this much juice remains. So I turned my phone on and as expected, the battery indicator shows 50++% left. So I play around with it and I noticed the screen flashing terribly after some time. Not long after that the phone hang there and I had to do a hard reset by pulling out the battery. Before that, I can see that the battery is drained to around 20%. I was unable to power it on after pulling out the battery and when I connected my device to the charger, nothing happens (no display, no LED). So I left it there charging and after some time, finally the LED is lighting up (So, I assume that I drained the battery COMPLETELY just now). I can switch on the device afterwards and it shows 6% battery remains. I wonder why is this happening as this only happens when I charge my device with it turning off. Something wrong with the battery? Device? Or I have to do battery calibration?

Let it charge to 100% first before using. Then check how is the battery usage.
There might be an issue with the battery also. If it is swollen then it's time to get a new one.
Try using another battery and see. If it works fine on other battery then your battery needs to change,
The problem could also be in the ROM. Something could have gone wrong during installation even though it may look fine. If this is the case then reflash the ROM with a full wipe. If the problem still remains, return to stock rom and see.
I had the exact same problems, the screen flashes and stutters, network signal is lost and the phone turns off, it is due to uncalibrated battery.
There's a simple fix, download battery calibration from play stor (green android icon with percentage), charge your phone to 100% without using it, then click battery calibr. inside that app, then doscharge it till 0% (do your normal usage as ussual) and then charge it back to 100%
For healthy battery life don't let it drain lower than 10% it's the li-ion physics and always charge it fully, don't charge from 0 to 30-50-60% because the ions in the battery will not have a good flow.
Everything has it's lifespan but if it's configured and used properly it can have a long lifespan
Also to mention, if my recommendation doesn't work, your battery could be swolen due to inproper charging / heavy oc-ing or your charger is messed up.
Also to say, that flickering occured to me when i flashed a new rom and when i do lot of reboots, then the batterystats freak out, the voltages also and also your phone.
Charhe and use it properly, try to stay with a rom at least a couple of days to see how it'll go.
