[Q] Broke the screen on my rooted S4. Can anyone point me the stock ROM? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

I figure I can just use Odin to unroot, but I need help finding a good stock ROM. I heard the NoWipe version isn't the best to use because they might search for SuperUser apps and deny the warranty, and that's all I've found.
Thanks

I think you'd be fine to uninstall the super user app. I think you can use the no wipe tar. But they might update it. Or they might not. If you don't have the custom screen on boot send it in.

Oh, I'm sorry I should specify. My screen is broken, as in I can't see anything on it. Not just cracked glass. So it's not necessarily just a matter of uninstalling super user. Since I'm not sure I can do that with a broken screen.

[Q] One Click Rooted...Superuser issue??

First post here, so please take it a little easy on me. I have had my Vibrant for some time, I had not rooted as I didn't fully understand how magic it could be. After some research, I decided I would go ahead and do it tonight, using one click root. Everything is mostly ok and I think that I did successfully root, however, I am having problems with Super User. First off, just about anything I do force closes it, but secondly - and more importantly - I have downloaded a few apps that need root access, like 'shoot me' or 'titanium backup' - both will open, but they dont work, superuser is not popping up like I was under the impression that it would.
I have been googling for some time now and cannot find an answer to this, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Try to open titanium backup and hit the problems button to download busybox. See if that does you any good.
Thanks, that did it. The only issue I am having now is that I have no haptic feedback and the phone is moving waaaaay slower then ever
Hmmm... I would say to odin back to stock and go with a custom rom. It sounds like your phone got aids somewhere along the way.

[Q] Newbie reset Galaxy Note back to stock rom, kernel, boot, and recovery

I'm confused. I've been reading for the last hour and can't find the right thread. Hopefully you can point me in the right direction and show mercy I've been a lurker a while and do most of my own research.
Have my phone on a custom rom. (CM9) Have to turn in for a warranty claim on hardware issue (headphone jack). Need to reset the phone to stock rom (ICS), stock kernel, and recovery. I installed kernel from one of the threads, and it was gingerbread rom. The recovery seems to be stock now. I need to install the whole kaboddle...
Where can I find the correct files to install stock everything on galaxy note for ICS? If warranty needs it unrooted, I probably need this as well.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Good news for you. There is no reason to restore to stock for a hardware warranty claim.

I understand it COULD be an issue. I want to remove any possibility. Everything I've read indicates is could be cause for rejection if they decided so. I'd prefer to eliminate any possibility.

[Q] Noob Question: Will updating from Rooted Stock MDK Brick?

I know it sounds crazy, but, I still need to learn more first. I really don't need root as of right now. So, if I update, will it screw up my phone? ANd currently, I have the AIO Project Odex installed and uninstalled TalkBack and disabled Samsung TTS and Google TTS. And, please, I know its a stupid question, but please answer.
First, it may not update because you are rooted. It shouldn't brick it though, just lose root. Second, if you do update, and I'm assuming it's too me7, you currently do not have a way to flash custom roms. And you may give up that option for ever. I would discourage you from updating.

Why wouldn't it update? Would I have to unroot then update?. Next, that's all I really want. I'm not very familiar with the Jelly Bean Odin for fixing. And, I already do know that, and couldn't I find a way back to MDK with Odin? And for some reason, I'm terrified of rebooting because it might bootloop. (I know, crazy right?)

If you take the update there is no way back to mdk for technical reasons, look up q-fuses. Since you are rooted the update may not work. And boot loops are not that big a deal if you know how to get past them. I'd not update and do a lot more research. The update isn't going a way and you can always do it if you want. BUT, you can't go back once you do.
I still don't understand why it won't work. And how would I get past them? (I know to do it on GB Xperia Play not, Jelly Bean/ S4)

It sounds like your telling me your phone boot loops every time you reboot it? You've done a lot of messing with your phone by the sounds of it. That's the reason ota update probably won't work.
---------- Post added at 05:29 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:28 PM ----------
Why don't you just Odin back to stock mdk and fix it?
Actually, never happens. Just paranoid. And I didn't install anything except Project Odex (WiFi toggle etc) and removed the TTS apps. And that's it

ah, sorry bro. im gonna have to pass :/
If you don't need root and don't want to flash custom rom's and want the update to me7, then you might as well trade your phone with one of these good folks stuck on me7 already. Give them some relief and gives you what you seem to want. Else wise freeze that ota.

[Q] Customization Ideas Help

Hey guys. I just rooted my Galaxy Mega with the Kingoapp, very easy and is awesome so far. I have supersu and a few rooted apps already. Just wanted to see if you guys have any suggestions of other apps to use with this since there isn't that many options with this device already. I do have Xposed Installer already as well.
Thank You
Well i think you should first install a custom recovery before you start to mod your device. That way you will have a way to recover your device. just in case that somthing goes wrong.

I would want to know what variant he has before suggesting he do something like that. If he has i527, he is going to have a brick with a 6.3 inch screen.
Yes, I thought I recognized from other post......he has ATT variant. We have no recovery yet.
DO NOT FLASH ANYTHING.
You have exposed and you have not upgraded yet. Keep your eye on your phone though, it may want to upgrade on its own. I am pretty sure root will protect you however.
Hopefully there will be more Xposed modules that work for you than me.

I would like to add that do not unroot and update to the new firmware. You will gain knox and it is a right pain. If you want to keep root access and custom recovery (as of writing this, there is no recovery for the AT&T variant), STAY ON JELLY BEAN to keep these privileges.
Wanam module. You can make it look like a custom rom.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I527 using XDA Free mobile app
do you have a custom launcher? if not you should try Nova launcher
Buy Titanium Backup Pro. Freeze the Auto Updates app. This way you don't have to worry about an OTA coming through and killing root. It's definitely worth the money even if this is the only thing you use it for.

Samsung galaxy avant - root?

Hey guys, I was just wondering if maybe anybody over here could help us get root on the new Samsung galaxy avant. Or even give us some pointers on how to obtain root on the device.
I can try to pull any files that are needed and help out any way I can.
Any words of wisdom would be nice, or to tell me to get out of here. That works too. Just needing some more experienced people to help out if at all possible. Thanks ?
I'm trying to get the same info. Just got my Avant and am so used to running custom roms in my other phones. Still have my build from the collective on my S2 but it's about to die and I will get a new S5. But I can't deal with the bloat ware and not having control of my phone. I've had it 24 hours and I'm about to throw it against the wall because all the junk apps and settings. Other than that it might be a good phone .

Hey planterz, thanks.
Do you know if anyone has even started on this phone or is it too new?
I'm sure there is some kit Kat development going on though , right?

If you read through that thread, then you know as much as I do, sorry to say. I've been checking other forums as well. The Avant has KNOX, as well as Qualcomm Secureboot. For whatever reason, T-Mobile has locked this device down hard. Nothing is impossible, of course (look at the AT&T/Verizon Note 3/GS5 and Towelroot - which unfortunately doesn't work on the Avant), but it might take some time to find root for the Avant, and maybe even longer for a way that doesn't void your warranty and/or permanently prevent updates.
Yeah, I posted this somewhere else trying to get some people interested but guess it got moved.
if you were still looking..
I am a new user, so I cant post links, but, chainfire can now root this phone.

Yeah we have it sorted out on the other thread for this. Linked in the above comments
Now that we have root, what's next?
Hi, my Avant is the first phone I've been compelled to root. I had done some research, picked up a few apps that were recommended (i.e. AdFree), using a different launcher, etc..
It's been a great step forward, and now I'm hunting for the next step. Going into ROM Toolbox and deleting everything that looks unnecessary or bloatesque seems like a great way to brick the phone. Is there any way to determine what can be eliminated without catastrophe, or a list of egregious resource hording apps?
When it come to deleting apps I don't think it's possible to brick the phone. You can pretty much delete any app you want and replace it with a third party one. I've removed everything except the launcher, messages, phone, the tmobile app (since I pay my bill through it) etc etc. Just use root Uninstaller and back up any app you might think could cause a problem.

I currently own this device and am liking it except for the fact that it overheats and the battery life is horrible. Is there a fix
You can root it by using towel root and then after rooting you can download set cpu app from playstore which can increase batterylife or you can increase your phones performance.
Hope it helps!!!!

No you can not. Towel root doesn't work for the avant. Last time I checked anyways.
Easiest way to root it is flash twrp using odin, then flash the newest supersu.zip in twrp.
I'm new
I'm a brand new to all of this and I have a Galaxy Avant that I want to root. I've read thru the threads and am still confused. I can't use towelroot.com on this phone and the apps for rooting in the app store don't work. Do I have to root using a pc or can I do it without one? How??
