Hi!
A couple of questions:
What did you flashed and from where (SBF throu RSD Lite, update.zip thru recovery, etc)?
What where you trying to accomplish? Root, new android versin, etc)
What where the steps -tutorial- you did to end with a brick?

I successfully rooted mine with Kingo, but it doesn't install a custom recovery (might have missed that option, gonna go back and check). If I can't get a custom recovery to flash a faster ROM, I'm going to into it - tablet is shower than Christmas now.

Hello,
It can be done by the "adb shell or terminal app" instructions from this site (download is there too):
http://androtab.info/clockworkmod/memopad/
You should get an option for CWM to "stick" when going into it, or leaving (that option never came up for me), otherwise stock recovery overwrites it on the next reboot to system.
If that is the case for you too, and feel like you need CWM at any point, then unlock the bootloader (androtab.info doesn't recommend it, but didn't see any ill effects for doing so, and it didn't factory reset my device, but YMMV), so you can fastboot flash recovery back on whenever/if-ever the time comes (or, given the circumstance, to play it safe do what I did only if/when the time comes).
Hope this helps.
There are some custom rom?

[Q] Need Custom Bootloader & ROM "How To" Help

Hey. After spending hours trying to discover a working method to root my Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4, I've succeeded. Now, I want to try to install some sort of bootloader like TWRP or something so I can install a custom ROM. What do I install and HOW do I install a bootloader? I'm confused. I also want to install the the latest CyanogenMod for it. I think I can do that on my own after getting a bootloader installed on my phone, but what file am I supposed to be installing is the question. Thank you for any and all help. This is my first smartphone, so I'm trying to figure this out.

Right now the bootloader is still locked down for the Verizon (unless your phone is on the MDK bootloader). So unfortunately you won't be able to do more than root the phone. You can use Safestrap to use some ROMs, but I don't think CM exists for the Verizon S4.

Oh, that's a shame. I was looking forward to this part. I wondered why I only found outdated information or a lack of information. I don't even know what a good ROM would be for this phone if there's no Cyanogen for it. Well I appreciate your reply very much. Thank you.

There is a Cyanogen build for the Verizon GS4 but as mentioned, only for folks with the MDK bootloader. Only TouchWiz based roms can be used with SafeStrap - no AOSP based roms (yet).
To see what bootlader you are on, just go to ABOUT PHONE under settings.

[Q] Custom ROM for Gigaset QV830

Hello guys,
Has anyone of you started any work or done any research on this cheap, but good tablet?
I'm willing to create a custom ROM for it, but I'm quite new in ROM making area, although I have experience with Linux, software development, etc.
So first of all I would need to root QV830 somehow, then copy current ROM, as there are none available to download, and then play long time with, say, Android 5.1 version and get it working on QV830, if possible.
This thread could be like knowledge base for this device or something.
Where would you recommend to start looking for rooting solution? I could try to create my own rooting app/procedure since I couldn't find anything for QV830 on this matter.
Thank you!
Hi,
I just bought a second-hand QV830 and I am in the same situation as you, wishing to get a custom ROM at hand.
So I thought about making a custom ROM but this is obviously a huge amount of work, especially if you have no experience in that.
From what I understand, one to compile a kernel with the right config. CM seems to have kernel for every device. I don't know if it's just different config or patched ones. Then integration of CM/android.
As for rooting, I simply used framaroot and choose Boromir, I think. Done ! I didn't even fear to brick it as I guess it just works or not. Am I wrong ?
To get a backup of current ROM, you just need to install a custom recovery like CWM with may be RomManager (?) (You don't even need root)

Thank you, zebul666 I managed to get the tablet rooted with Framaroot and Boromir setting, just as you said, but I'm still struggling to backup the current ROM. ROM Manager reboots into boot menu, but there are no backup options, only reboot device and reset ones.
Flashify app backs up current kernel and current stock (both weights 6.0 MB).
Also tried to copy /system folder with ES File Explorer with root permissions, but it always stops copying on run-as file.
Will keep trying, but if/when I will succeed, I have no clue what I'll be doing next
I understood that if you flash CWM with ROM Manager, this new recovery should enable you to make the nandroid backup. Has it failed for you or you did not do it ? I have not.
Now that you have root, you can already directly tweak the setup without custom ROM. For example, i have removed that annoying loud sound when it boots by renaming /system/media/bootaudio.mp3
If you wan to go the custom ROM way, there is tutoriel in this forum on how to compile a kernel and customizer rom

have you or anyone else installed Xsposed framework on these little qv830?
New to this. Any way to get 5.0.2 on this gigaset

I'm also interested in getting a more recent version of android installed.
Has anyone found anything out about installing a custom recovery yet? I think if that could be established then rom development may begin.

Yes, I have had xposed on this device and it works well but you have to be cautious as to what you do because if you happen to mess it up, the fact that we haven't figured out how to put CWM on you can't flash the xposed recovery zip. So min short yes but be careful.

custom ROM
Hi everyone! This tablet is not too bad, but I had this outdated Android OS. I wish I were smart enough to develop a custom rom for it... please let me know if anyone has any success! Thanks,
There's something here:

But it's in german language, use Translator
re gigasetqv1030
thanks for the link!
The last post on this thread seems to have the images and flashing shoftware (videos on youtube show the UI to be english)

I might try this the next weekend as I have bricked qv830 lying around, still boots to recovery while holding volume down during power up.

Help updating custom ROM

Hi!
I have a Kindle Fire HDX 7 (Thor).
Some time ago I installed safestrap and flashed a CM 11 ROM in stock slot.
Now I want to update this ROM, but I can't find new ROMs with safestrap support.
Can I unlock bootloader, install TWRP and flash LineageOS?
Can I use this 1click tool? https://forum.xda-developers.com/kindle-fire-hdx/general/multi-platform-1-click-bootloader-t3241014
Safestrap version: 4.01 (TWRP 2.7.0.1)
ROM, not the last update. https://forum.xda-developers.com/ki...-cm-11-safestrap-20150628-unofficial-t3145547

Hey man, I'm in the same exact boat but can't get any of those steps to work, could you explain better what was done as I really need to get off from CM11 and move to something better and supported.

Happy to provide more detailed guidance (several have taken a similar leap) but will be traveling the next few days with limited XDA access. You can find everything you need in the HDX forum (several threads dedicated to the topic) or just hang tight until I return.

Sorry but now I can't remember precisely what I did.
None of the steps works? I remember that the first step (generate the unlock code) was flawless.
If even the first step doesn't work maybe you have adb drivers problem, so check the prerequisites section here https://forum.xda-developers.com/ki...r-firmware-t3463982/post70881555#post70881555
