Radio Shack should be the best deal (off contract). They are selling it for $499 off the shelf. However, I am pretty sure you can use the 1st time Radio Shack "FourSquare" check-in 20% off deal to bring it down to $400 plus tax. I called my local store a week ago to verify that they would accept the coupon.

I just came from the sprint store... I went in there with every intention on dropping the $549 and keeping my Evo. But after playing with the phone for about 30 minutes honestly I just couldnt justify it. The speed was cool, the 3D was eh... but there just wasnt enough to make me feel like I needed to switch. And this is coming from someone that bought the original last year day one full retail. Plus I didnt really realize how much I dislike stock until I held my evo beside it and did a comparison of all the things I wont be able to install until HTC decides they want to unlock the bootloader. Ill probably get it at some point but my interest level dropped a lot after actually playing with it for a while.

And its actually $599 at radio shack. The $499 was a misprint and the stores here arent honoring that price.
thanks for the input, maybe i should go to a sprint store and actually play with it a little bit. So far radio shack had told me that the foursquare 20% off does not apply to wireless. Ill try a couple more radio shack to see if i get a different response.

Id advise it... the store I went to had 3 models on display and two Views. I mean dont get me wrong its a nice phone.. but not nice enough for me to feel the need to spend 500+ on it. Im on an advantage club line thats the only reason I was gonna do it but now ill probably just wait until whenever we can upgrade and get it. Ironically, I had sat down and was about to pay for it and all and even the chick that was ringing me up said it didnt make much sense and I agreed so I said id just wait. Supposedly we'll be able to upgrade Monday but if not I dont think ill be mad lol.
Just give it 3 weeks or so when full root is out..prices should drop a bit ( if you are okay with buying used)
I personally am waiting for full root then jump ship from the 4G

I just got the nexus s and i love the phone. Its smooth and does everything i need it to and fast. I guess I'll wait for the meanwhile, I'm not going to dish out $500+, but i wont lie when i woke up this morning i was whilling to. Maybe ill just get a tablet for that money.

I've been looking for a month now, easily. I tried buying one on XDA, but it didn't work out and now I'm waiting for a refund(I get it tomorrow), several were listed on craigslist, but either they sold it before I could get to it(prices around 350-375) or they seem sketchy(selling for 400.. oh wait, you don't want to pay 400, how about 200? Buy it now motha&$%&@*..) like they probably just stole it.. found a guy on craigslist right now who wanted to get a sensation xl, but then was thinking about trading for my vibrant with cash on top so he could get the wireless tethering, and NOW is talking about keeping his damn phone and paying me to root it! Sigh..
So where did you guys buy your phones at? I don't want to go the route of going contract to get one on sale(why pay more per month to save 200 bucks?), and the cheapest I see them by sellers on ebay is around $420 if they have a return policy like they run a business..
I would probably keep looking on XDA, but until the mod there removes the negative feedback that the seller left(I didn't do ANYTHING wrong as the buyer), I can't very well expect anyone to take the chance on me.. besides, the guy who was selling sounded safe enough to buy from, but nothing about that deal worked out the way it should have.
So yea, anyone have any suggestions for some other places to get a decent deal? Maybe some other forums? I plan to buy a spare battery and charger, and am trying to keep the price for everything under 400 total.. I figured it would make more sense to ask here since everyone here has probably already done the same research I've been doing!

I Pm'd you back.. I don't want a mod to move this to the marketplace thinking I am just asking to buy a phone here, if someone here wanted to sell theirs and it seems legit, cool.. but mainly if someone has some advice for some other places to find one, that would be even better. After a month of looking, and drooling over the development forums, and waiting for one to get here, and it never coming.. I just want to get my amaze!
The guy I've been talking about on craigslist sounded like he was game and wanting to meet till I said we should meet at a tmobile. I told him I've been hearing about people selling blacklisted phones(which I have been hearing) and that I would feel safest if they can check the imei.. suddenly he decided he is going to keep it.. so back to the drawing board.
So where are you guys finding yours? I'm seeing the going price about 350-400 depending on condition and extras, but like I said, I haven't found a legit seller in person yet who still has it so..

I guess it is just a matter of getting lucky. If you could get those at that price, you could resell em on ebay for a mint. Im just trying to get a phone and extra battery for $400.. I'd wait if I could, but im stuck with a samsung vibrant till I replace it. The same phone for a year and a half.. what kind of tech geek am I?? Lol.

You're making me feel much better about my vibrant, lol(sorry).
Sadly, the cellphone gods are really trying to teach me patience, paypal says the refund will go through on the 29th, I called them because it hasn't gone through yet.. evidently they have till the end of the business day.
The good part about that is that I have several people who contacted me with a few reasonable offers, and maybe even the best would be local.. so I guess I wait and see who pulls through when I have the cash in hand.
If you are looking to buy one too, and you have the cash in hand, I would mention it.. maybe one of them would rather sell to you than wait on me?
I work at TMO in STL, if you found a buyer in STL, I could verify the phone and you could paypal me the money to buy, just throwing that out there

i found a guy but most people on CL wont do paypal.. i live about a hour and a half from stl and have no car so im sol xD
I HIGHLY doubt you will find an amaze for 350$ unless it has a broken screen

actually, that is wrong. with a broken screen i almost bought one for $280. but didnt feel like dealing with it.

none have broken screens i just have no ride to stl, which is my issue.

I saw one with a broken screen get to $90 on ebay, I imagine it got higher but I didn't follow it.. I see them on ebay selling used in good condition now for $400 every day, and locally on craigslist in different cities I see it selling between 300-400. The value of the phone seems to be diminishing a bit more every day..

If you gift the payment, there is no buyer protection. That means ANY payment under the "personal" payment options tab. If you pay for it goods, the person you give the money to will have 3% of it taken as a fee.. so if you pay 3% more than that price it covers the fee, and you will have protection. Just make sure you put in the description/note of the payment exactly what you are paying for, and put your address in the note area as well.
Don't gift payment, pay the 3% extra in fees and buy as "goods".. if there IS a problem you will get a refund. Just be careful the both of you, I don't want this post to cause a problem between members- hopefully the fact that you guys seem pretty local to each other keeps everything honest if you go thru with it!
On a side note, I still want an amaze.. I'm waiting to hear back from ebatr8 about his amaze now that I got my paypal refund, or from someone who said they may know someone locally.. a month of wanting/waiting for this phone is killing me!

The important thing to realize, if nothing has changed, is that ebay owns paypal.. or maybe it is paypal that owns ebay.. either way, buying from ebay but paying with something other than paypal means you just have dispute resolution through ebay, not protection. Paying with paypal means you actually are protected-- they will collect evidence from buyer and seller, and if the seller can't prove that they have taken the actions needed to get the right product to the buyer, paypal will give you a refund and collect payment from the seller.
I guess the idea I am trying to put out there is that paypal is more protected than just buying through ebay, but a combination of the two is the safest. To sell something on ebay means fees up to 8% of the price, then to accept paypal payment costs another 3% of the price.. that is why the prices are higher on ebay than you will find locally, it costs up to 11% to sell something thru ebay.
Edit: so if I was going to buy on here or locally, and the lowest price for a safe buy on ebay was roughly $400 with free shipping(I see multiple at this price).. I would expect the price shipped to not exceed $360, or roughly 10% less than the ebay price.

If you buy from paypal and through paypal you have no proof really that you even bought the phone. i just feel safer buying from Gazelle on Ebay because its a actual company and they dont want to loose business and same for other people on ebay. if its just some random person they could probably care less.. as long as they have the money.

This one was listed at $419 the other day free shipping, buy it now, it didn't sell.. now is relisted at $399. Considering they do 7 day returns and have such good feedback, but it still hasn't sold yet.. I would say they aren't worth $400 anymore. After all, the value isn't based on what they are being sold for, but what someone is actually willing to pay. So if they aren't selling at $400 on ebay, I would say in person it is worth 10% less(they are tacking on their fees after all).. so $360+/- sounds like what the current value should be.
I'd prefer to do it locally, but it sounds like you have more options in STL than I do in Jacksonville.. or gainesville, daytona.. sigh.
Don't worry, don't worry i love my Note. But i bought two of them last week at full retail price . One for me and my GF, i surprised her with one. We are actually due for two full upgrades come in May. She is content with her phone she has now "iphone" yuck & would rather use the money on getting herself a new tablet. She has no problem waiting but me no way i needed a NOTE asap lol. She rather wait & save the $350 bucks and get hers in May. And i would save the other upgrade for a rainy day.
Would i be able to return it for cash back refund, being i paid cash I bought it right from the ATT store using our account but just paid full retail. The phone was used lightly for about 3 days. Works out being i bought her the White one and i think i'll keep that one I don't mind if there is a 35 restocking fee. And i am guessing we would also lose our activation fee.
30 day refund with receipt. No questions asked. Might likely be a restocking fee as you mentioned. Since you bought another phone full price, you might be able to haggle on this and the activation fee if you are nice.

Fair enough, hell im not complaining on getting $600 plus back lol. I was so excited in the ATT store being i was getting myself a NOTE, and well her one too. I overlooked the $1200+ i laid out . And i mean May 12th she is due for her full upgrade so i guess that isn't too far.
Now for me they would need a vice grip to pry my Note from me lol. Ive had it for a few days and already have gotten so many compliments on it and asked "CAN I HOLD IT"!
Most people just make fun of its size thats all.

True but not around me lol. Id list it for $625 and someone would try and offer me $450, or even worse a iPhone 4 hahaha. Id rather take the $35 restocking fee. I paid $688 per phone with tax. OUCH!
You wouldn't get cash back. They will send you a check in the mail. You will get it in 2-4 weeks.

I returned my Skyrocket and they handed me cash money. That was how I paid for it.
If you paid with debit, they'll put it back on your card.
They should pay you back in the manner that you originally paid for the device. One caveat is that early in the day, they may try to say they don't have enough cash on hand since they haven't made too many sales.
pay by CC and they put it back on the card; pay back check and they mail a check, etc.
Due to the Note's size, alot of women will say it's too big, even if they like it. My sister just got one so I am curious to see if she hangs onto it.
OK quick update. So me and the GF head to AT&T to return her Note. I send her in alone with her in alone with her "two girls" saying hello to hopefully get full cash back & perhaps wave the re-stocking fee .
Long story short they guy said they didn't have enough cash to give back so he called another local store and they also didn't have enough . Hard to imagine at 6:30pm they don't. So he tells her he has a guy looking to buy a tablet if she wanted to give her number he would call back in 10 mins and would have enough to refund us. Or she would stop back in.
So we went and grabbed something to eat and they never called. So i figure we would try again this week. We have only had it for a week now. So we have time left.
Crazy part is i was browsing Craigslist today and there is someone local selling a Midnight Blue Note that is 3 days old basically brand new, with a Sigpen case for $580. So for ****s and giggles i emailed him and said id give him $500 cash. He actually accepted the offer . Now im debating on returning mine when she goes back with hers and scoop that from the guy. Even after my re-stocking fee id save $150 cash & a case! I currently have the white Note but would gladly exchange for a black one and $150 cash back lol. I love the white note but it is a little on the flashy side when you take it out. Like it already doesn't attract attention lol.
What do you guys think? Trade mine basically for a black Note & $150 cash?
Tempting but you'd be banking on the guy actually having the note and it functioning properly. Plus you lose the option of a return through the retail location he got it from. (Buyer beware!)
Personally, I'd keep what I had in hand. But that's just me.

Yup great points. I decided to hold onto mine. I am debating on exchanging my white note for the black one. Which i will do after work prob. The only benefit I see is being able to get a new phone sooner. In my case, its not beneficial because I usually stick with a phone for a year and a half to 2 years. They also give you a Lookout premium subscription too if you're into that stuff. It depends on your interest.

the best part is insurance, the other thing is really jumping to another phone that is tough now.
New policy says that you can jump only if u have paid half the cost of phone & tmobile pays the other half, or pay the full price of the phone & keep it ?

You don't really save money as much as you have a guaranteed convenient way to sell back your old phone. You could probably do just about as well if you were to just sell your phone on eBay after 6th months.
I took a quick look and didn't find any Best Buy topics. I pre-ordered a Verizon Note 8 Orchid Gray. Still charged and no movement. Btw I did the best buy preorder to get the 150 instant off

I read on reddit that someone called BB andthey said they were sticking to the 9/15 date

Just got off the phone with Best Buy to see if I'm among the fortunate of getting it before 09/15 with the preorder. Sadly, Best Buy is gonna keep that solid 09/15 date.

I ordered through AT&T, but Best Buy also told me 9/15 in person when I went there to fiddle with the floor model.

Hey thanks guys..been off xda for awhile. I cancelled two Verizon preorders for the Best Buy deal because it was worth it for me. Guess we have to wait

I cancelled my VZW pre-order yesterday and went with Best Buy to save the 150. I'll be OK waiting until the 15th.
happens everytime lol. so funny. I pre order from vzw. best buy ships early.. I order from bestbuy. verizon ships early... i give up lol.
Anyone notice you can no longer make changes to your Best Buy pre order? I didn't notice that yesterday. It seems like at least 2 of the carriers are shipping now despite what VZW and Samsung say.
I ordered from best buy kinda wish i would have from vzw for the chance to get it early but with the 150 savings and i just ordered the whitestone dome screen protector guess its a good thing i have to wait

I know. I had a VZ pre-order done within minutes when it went live. I cancelled yesterday to get the 150 off and still get the 480 for my S7 Edge. Oh well, in the long run we'll be glad we saved the 150.
150 buys the vr goggles.
So from reading the other chats, looks like Samsung is holding the deliveries for everyone. Maybe we'll get them the same time as everyone

Does anyone know how the trade in works. It says you have to go through Verizon. I didn't see anything about it when I ordered
I ordered two of them a couple of days ago. Best Buy says that they'll be in my hands by 9/15. Hope it's true.

Check out the VZW waiting room thread. I spoke to VZW and Best Buy at length about this. VZW told me if you buy from Best Buy I don't get the 480 for my S7 Edge. Best Buy says I do and that they made that deal with Verizon months ago. The idiot from VZ said he saw the promo for buying it from VZW and one for when you walk into Best Buy and preorder it but nothing about buying on line. I did screen shots from the Best Buy site showing that the 480 deal with the fine print that the deal is directly with VZ. Best buy says once I activate my Note 8 I have to take my S7 Edge into a Verizon corporate store and they will take the phone and apply the discount to my monthly payments. They also told me that it takes 3 months before the credit will come through but it's pro rated from the day you buy the phone.
We will see. To save 150 I'm willing to beat up VZW.

Thanks for the information.. before I ordered I thought best buy did the trade in but I guess not ..I'm still looking on eBay and swappa for a trade in device
It would be hilarious if the carriers are instructed to hold the shipments at the distribution centers until the 14th! LOL
Classic story.
The guy on the first shoulder says "You are saving money every month by waiting a week or two, you will have plenty of time to enjoy the phone."
The other guy says "Cancel that Best Buy order today, order from AT&T. You've been using an iPhone for 9 months you have suffered enough. The discount isn't worth using an iPhone for one more week."
Then the first guys says "Oh come on, the iPhone isn't THAT bad."

My Best Buy order status has changed from "Processing" to "Preparing". I logged onto my Verizon wireless account and attempted to trade in my Pixel XL. It shows a promotional $480 trade in value! I also noticed my line is no longer eligable for trade in and I owe $786/24 payments! I hope it ships soon!
