[Q]SOLVED How to enter SIM unlock network code after flashing to a custom Kernel/ROM? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have an xperia X8 with some naa kernel and xperiadroidx 6.1.
The thing is that with this custom kernel and ROM when i put a SIM from another network carrier, the question asking for the SIM-unlock code input is not showing up. (this appeared before when phone was in stock state)
What do i need to do?
Is it possible to do it without re-flashing to stock?
...or i have to put back the phone to stock? What is the easiest/safest/best way to do this? using the restore option in "PC companion" SE app?
Is it only needed to put the stock kernel and ROM, or Do i also need to re-lock the bootloader?
I don't need the whole explanation, just a little guidance, just a few tips to know what to do, then i can google/search myself for the specifics on how to actually do it.
thanks in advance

Solved!
Pc companion didn't worked. All was fine except that it says that "there wasn't any update for my phone". The same happened with sony exclusive "update service".
What worked was flashtools and a stock kernel/ROM available here in XDA.
Once i flashed with this stock kernel/firmware, the "SIM network unlock PIN" became automatically displayed when i turn on the phone with a SIM from a different/locked network carrier.
Then as i already had the PIN (which i get from my old network carrier), put it there and it worked as it should. Unlocked...
No need to re-lock the bootloader or anything else, just flashing with stock kernel/firmware suffice.
Pd: I wonder why is that the custom cyanogenmod rom that i previously had, or for that matter, any other custom ROM, don't have this "SIM network unlock PIN" available.
It is almost insane to have a perfectly working and personalized custom ROM, and have to flash back to stock just to "network-unlock" the phone with a legitimate obtained code.

[Q] Why does flashing generic not remove sim lock?

Searching the forum people are saying that the X10 can't be unlocked (at least without paying) even by flashing generic. So I was wondering why this is the case?
Where is the simlock stored? As flashing a different (stock) rom overwrites everything right? I can't see it being part of the bootloader so is their a part of the phone the bootloader knows not to touch but that can still be modified by the user with codes from operator/paid method.
Thanks in advance.
Simlock is on the sim card. It has nothing to do with the firmware.
By sim lock I mean network lock. Sorry for any confusion. As in if I put in another operators sim.

[Q] strange brick after unsimlock, any solution to fully reinstall stock rom?

Hello guys,
after looking here a lot for improving my x10 (successfully, I love fxp ), I have my first problem, and it is a strange one.
I live in France, and a new carrier made very cool prices, so I decided to change carrier. But my previous carrier provider made its possible to not unsimlock my x10, so, when I went in holidays in Tunisia, I went to a shop where they are known to unlock phones, and they unsimlocked it, but they put an official 2.1 rom, but I couldn't go from cyanogen to stock 2.1... So I decided to install fxp.
I rooted the phone with flashtool, and tried to flash the phone, but it was stuck on se logo, so I used pc companion to install stock gingerbread, it installed. But when I power it on, it's not 2.3, it's still 2.1 ! I don't know what these tunisian did, but they ****ed up my phone T_T
when I start it with my sim, I can enter my pin code, and I only have the blue wallpaper of 2.1 and the top bar. I can't access to anything, the three buttons do not work (except when I put the usb cable, I can use the return button to quit the "charge or connect" menu and minimize the bar when it is fullscreen).
When I don't put the sim, I have the configuration menu, but when I press proceed, it says me to insert a sim card and reset, I can't do anything at this state.
Did anyone have the problem ?

If those Tunisians know something, they are probably here on xda-developers forum ..
You have a thread for sim unlocking, and I think that there is a way to check if your phone is unlocked properly via s1tool or is it possible to unlock it..Go HERE
Thanks, for the simlock soft.
But how can I make it to boot properly (ie having acces to menus, icons and all)
Well, I tried s1tool, and it says that it is still locked, but I don't understand, I was able before trying the update to call with the new carrier oO
PS : is there a way to root/flash without enabling debugging ?
I do not know if I can post this, but I managed to do here.
Debranding a knife around 1.6 android and use the ITS to upgrade

Well, HERE you can find everything you want for unlocking, downgrading, rooting..(a lot of links)..
Just take it easy and don't rush..It's a simple process, you just have to understand and follow everything they say..
Cheers
Well, I tried again to backup the stock rom with pc copanion, and it worked, and now it is unsimlocked xD

[Q] gingerdx 21b no network/sim card error

i have just installed gingerdx 21b and now i have no signal, can't make calls or send texts etc. its like it doesn't even read the simcard. has anyone had this problem before?
thanks,
andy
Yes, there are plenty of people who've had these problems before.
The problem was with unlocking your bootloader. If you read the tutorial properly, you would have known it could disable the radio-capabilities of your phone (GSM/3G).
Flash back to original firmware, using the repair option in PC Companion or SEUS and relock your bootloader, using the Restore-button in S1Tool.
In order to get your bootloader unlocked properly, get an EMMA/IMEI code from your provider, and try again.
this is the second time ive had to use seus now, not doing very well. do i still have to relock the bootloader if i use seus?
This time im just going to use flashtool to unlock it, how do i get/use an imei code?
cheers,
andy
Yes, SEUS does not lock the bootloader, so you will have to use S1Tool to do that, and hope your network comes back.
you can get an unlock-code from your network-provider, in order to enter it, you usually have to remove your simcard, put one from another provider in and the phone will ask for the code to be entered.
The provider will usually ask for some money for the code, although mine provides it for free after the initial contract-period.

S3 relocked?

I have a factory locked S3, but my provider gives out the unlocking code for free. I put in a sim from another provider, got asked for the code, entered it and it worked.
I then rooted the phone.
However, after a few days I wanted to remove root and reflashed stock firmware with Odin. I searched out the proper file here at xda and flashed it. I then got an error about messaging stopped everytime I booted and searched some more. The solution was to flash with Odin again, but check upgrade bootloader. After that the phone works fine and everything is in place like it was new.
But, my phone has been locked again and my code does not work anymore. I have called my provider (leaving out the root and flashingpart) and they say that if the unlock is not working I must send it to them so they can unlock it.
So I have these questions:
1. Having done what I have done, will TriangleAway + reflashing stock with Odin remove every trace of my "tampering"?
2. What can they do to the phone that I cannot do myself with som advice from xda?
3. How many attempts are there of entering the unlock code? It still asks for a code. I do not get any message about too many tries. But I have must have punched the code more than three times...
I have read that people get their IMEI changed when reflashing, but mine is still original. I can not understand why the operator lock has come back.
Please help!
1) I believe so yes (not sure, I'm new to this forum just what I've read)
2) They can block the IMEI if the phone was lost/stolen
3) I am not sure with Samsung/Android phones but when I was unlocking my mums Nokia C3 it only allowed me to enter a code three times before displaying an error message.
It is not stolen or lost. I have bought it from my operator myself. I talked to them today and there is no block on this phone. It does work with my operators sim, but no other sims.
My question was that they can do to unlock ut that I cannot do myself?

Everything, they are your carrier.
None of us can generate unlock codes for the phone, they can get the unlock codes and make sure it's 100% unlocked

What about the Voodoo sim unlock app ? You'll need root access though. the app has also been removed from the Play Store
The dev's site, you can download and sideload the app from here:

That's not an unlock code though it's just temporary. A factory unlock is permanent (or so it should be)

I spoke to my carrier and they said that there was only one valid code for my IMEI, and that does not work anymore. It did work once, but after reflashing the firmware with Odin, the lock came back and now the code does not work.
Perhaps they just replace the phone with a swap unit? Therefore I ask again, will TriangleAway and reflashing stock remove all traces of rooting/tampering? If not I will get the phone back and be forced to pay for the service as well.
+1 for this problem.
I unlocked mine with the voodoo unlocker and was fine for a couple of months. Flashed a newer version of cm10 and was asked to enter Sim unlock code. This time I got the pin from my carrier but with that number it says Sim unlock unsuccessful.
Anyone else had this problem? Anyone know of a solution?
At the moment I just have a fancy mp3 player/camera :silly:
Voodoo sim doesn't work properly with then latest firmwarea but theres a new app 'Galaxsim-unlock' that I can recommend. Your'llshare find it over in the themes and apps section

You can try to use Valhalla ( Voodoo has disappeared from the Play Store ) :

I've managed to get mine back to unlocked.
I was on cm10 and then when flashing a newer version the lock came back. I was originally using voodoo sim unlock but that wouldnt work this time so rang my carrier and got an official code which would not work either.
Flashed back to stock using odin making sure to use the network branded ROM i was originally on and not just a stock ROM, then enter the code the carrier gave me and this time it worked!
Guessing you must be running a stock carrier branded ROM for the code to register properly and unlock.
Hope this works for anyone else!

Sim Unlock With Custom ROM (P769)

So I installed a custom rom on my phone after unlocking BL and all that a while ago.
I recently got the unlock code from my service provider and was trying to sim unlock the L9. I get an error saying I have an invalid code (which it isn't). A quick google told me that custom roms sometimes won't let you use unlock codes.
I tried using the guide from @cmahendra to reset back to the original kdz/ROM for the phone but it stops at 15% and says phone not connected (even through all the drivers install/are installed correctly).
Does anyone know best way to unlock the phone with the unlock pin provided? Or at least how to reset it back to normal?
