[Q] Android Device Manager & Battery Saving Mode - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Android 4.4.2
I have mine set to battery saving mode, but assume that would also lower the accuracy of locating my device if it goes missing. Android Device Manager doesn't appear to switch to High accuracy mode when I try to locate it. Assuming this service is bundled into google play service it shows up as "low battery".
Is it better to have location setting to "Battery saving" or "High accuracy" mode when using Android Device Manager to locate your device?

[Q] Location Services turning on automatically

Hi Everyone,
just bought a new AT&T HTC One M9, updated via OTA to 5.1, phone is currently with bootloader unlocked but unrooted and S-ON.
i have the following issue:
i usually leave location services on with "battery saving" mode.
after the screen times out and turns off, i can see the GPS icon flashing in the status bar as if location services are on "High Accuracy" mode.
at that point, if i go to Settings > Location it shows the mode as "Battery Saving", if i turn location services off and on again its switches to High Accuracy mode (which doesn't happen normally by toggling it)
i tried shutting down apps that appear under "Recent Location Requests" in Settings > Location, i also tried shutting down running apps via Settings > Apps -> Running tab.
in both cases i shut down as many apps as i could, the GPS icon was still showing in the status bar
only toggling Location Services Off and On OR switching modes from Battery Saving to High Accuracy and then back to Battery Saving, seems to fix the problem
but that's only until the screen turns off again.
(this happens even if location services are completely off)
any ideas?
Thanks in Advance

Disable background Wi-Fi in Offline mode

My Wi-Fi works in background (even when my phone is in Airplane (offline) mode) and drains battery. I checked Battery usage chart (Settings/Battery/Battery usage/History details) and saw that some proccess wake Wi-Fi after some time when phone is inactive and in Airplane mode. History details of Battery usage show that (after waking up) Wi-Fi stayed turned on even my power switch is disabled.
I have that problem since last update released in september. "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" option is disabled (choosed "Never (increases data usage)"). Also Viber's "Wi-Fi - sleep policy" option is disabled (choosed "Viber will use device's Wi-Fi sleep policy").
Can someone help me to solve this problem?

GPS is using device only mode

I have installed stock 9.2.1.0 and i have a problem with gps. If i set it to device only mode then it is impossible to go back to high accuracy. I can choose high accuracy but it is working like device only.
Anyone else with the same problem?
Had the same issue and fixed it with simply updating google maps

Automatically adjust time for daylight saving while offline

In my current employment one of my tasks is to lock down an Android device using a kiosk mode app so it can only use camera and gallery, basically turning it into a camera. Everything works fine except as the device has network access disabled, DST is not automatically updated by the time server. This means during daylight saving the time becomes incorrect. The end user also cannot correct the time due to the device being in kiosk mode. Is there any way I can get the device time to automatically reflect daylight saving while staying offline? Or is there a way to give the end user access to only changing the time setting and nothing else?
I don't understand.
What is kiosk?
