Removing persistent VPN notification on notification window? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey XDA. I must query your limitless knowledge. I've recently started using hotspot shield vpn, and I have two vpn icons. One is a system icon that I can't hide (it's the one with the key icon, that I want hidden) and one with the green shield (it's animated, and I would prefer to keep it.)
So, I'm looking for a way to hide the one with the key. I've searched for an XPOSED module but haven't seen one that does what I'm asking. Any ideas?

This did the trick for me. I set up an OpenVPN server at home and was irritated that the openvpn app icon as well as the android vpn key notification icon were present. I was easily able to hide the stock key icon using the xposed app es0tericcha0s reccommended.

VPN permanent notification, even on block screen is very annoying indeed. So many configuration knobs in Android and you cannot get rid of it! In case of Opera Max is like an advertising, you see the Opera logo every time you watch at your blocked phone. incredible!

SMS/GMAIL/Missed Call Widget

Hi Everyone,
I've seen a really nice widget floating around that was designed using Tasker for notification on your lock screen, in tandem with widget locker. It's simple text based widget with 3 rows, one for each notification. I was wondering if anyone has come across a similar themed widget designed outside of Tasker? I don't have a lot of use for Tasker and am hesitant to spend 6.99 on it, for one use. It looks like what you can see on the homescreen in the following image.
Thanks!

you can use go launcher ex with go launcher ex notification to get sms/gmail/missed called count.
I am actually quite suprised there is no widget for this.
I know, right?! It seems like such a basic widget?

Does Gmail App provide an API so other apps know that you have new unread email?
If you only want to see your last call, missed call, unread text message, etc, give “Last Call Widget” (on Market) a try.
Get SMS Unread Count from market. Widgets for sms, email, and calls. Can use custom icons also.

The screenshot provided looks a little like "missed it" from the Android Market isn't it??

Cool App--LMT

I'm not sure if anyone else has tried it, but LMT launcher (not really a launcher) DOES work on the DX2!! Only setback I've found so far is that "slices" used for app launching, literally show up as "app". This is fine for me though, because I'm just using it for toggles, and those icons are showing up--at least on CM7--I haven't tried it on anything else.
If what I've said confuses the mind, here are a few informative links!

This app would be perfect if I could figure out how to launch the stock task switcher from the pie. The task switcher button wouldn't work, and I have tried keying longpress of the soft home to trigger recent apps, but no luck. Long press of the search button (to trigger voice search) worked great.
Its a pretty cool idea. And it matches the browser quick controls so I like the consistency. I tried it out on my phone for a little while but ended up disabling it. I have so many ways already to quickly launch apps and get into settings etc. lol.
About the app icons, if you go into the settings and scroll all the way down, there is an option that says "Show app images". Set that to 1
funny..... in the youtube video you link, it shows how to make the app icon show up. just sayin. you made it sound like it didnt/wouldnt work or something.

[APP][SHARE] Crescendo Homescreen - A Simple Homescreen

Note : I'm just sharing the work of the XDA Member. This app was tested on this device and it was working fine. Here's a little introduction by him :

Hey XDA,
I've got a new app, and I would love some help in testing it and finding any bugs!
Crescendo Launcher is a homescreen replacement that makes it easier for seniors (or kids!) to use an Android phone or tablet.
Features:
NetManage: Crescendo can automatically toggle mobile data or WiFi if an app requires it. (Data is turned off after the screen is turned off)
Simple Apps: Crescendo comes with several simplified apps, including an easy-to-use web browser and flashlight.
Simple Settings: One click access to Ringer, WiFi and Mobile Data settings
Help Central: A comprehensive help center that teaches users how to use their device. It's fully illustrated!
App Drawer: An accessible app drawer with big icons.
You can grab it in the Play Store. (I've also attached an APK for your convenience.)
Please let me know what you think!

help: nothing is working inside notification drawer except toggle

I have two identical phone
the model is alcatel one touch evolve 5020N
I think I go too crazy on uninstall system apps (thinking it was bloatware) and now one of the phone's notification is not working.
the problem: when I download file from chrome or dolphin browser, I never get the icon on the notification bar,
when I install app from google play, the notification bar stays empty
when I get Text message or GMAIL email, I can hear the message/email ringtone but the notification bar is empty...
and When I click the settings button on top right it does not work

}
settings button on top right is also not working
the only thing that works in the drawer is the toggle.
I tried to compare the two phone using nandroid manager ,using titanium backup and vroot tools, I could not figure out which system app to make this working again.
do you know which app would make this work as normal again?
thanks
That's something related to SystemUI.apk. Post a list of all apk files that you have deleted and we'll see as every android device can have different names for its apk files. In fact if you're good enough you could make every single system app named doge doge1 doge2 etc.

Root apps galore!

Since we have finally gotten root, suggest all your root apps here.
I personally installed "ultimate dynamic navbar" right away, which not only got rid of that ugly have bar but also autohides it for more screen estate

Good topic. I hope more suggestions get posted. I have installed adblock plus.

I tried installing the module, but it won't hide the stock soft keys through xposed's safe setting. I had to use the build, dangerous, method to kinda get it to work, and now it only hides the soft keys while in apps, but they are still there while you're looking at the launcher and not in any app. So how did you get it to work.
You guys must know about this; if not, I suggest Greenify.
I use a two-finger swipe up gesture in Nova to auto-hibernate stuff.
Try auto hide softkeys app

Try the GMD Auto Hide softkeys APK in the play store
I bought the pro version because its more customization. Had it for a week now and its's worked flawless.
