[REQ-THEME] Holo Light UI - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all,
I was wondering if anyone knows of a theme that keeps the stock look but goes with a Holo Light theme instead of the Holo Dark which Google just can't seem to shake.
Holo Light vs Holo Dark example
It would theme things like the Settings menu (which still has the dark theme) to look more consistent with where Google seem to be taking the colour scheme (Dialer, contacts, hangouts etc)
It would also be a bonus if some of the Holo Blue (#33b5e5) was replaced with KitKat White (#bebebe) to get rid of other inconsistencies, such as the volume bars, settings toggles (WiFi/BT).
I found this theme but the #33b5e5 just looks so out of place in KitKat..
Alternatively if anyone knows of another way to achieve this it would be good to know.
Thanks for reading!

You can always check on the G+ group for development. That's where the testers hangout haha, so maybe it's just a bug (or soon to be done).

[CM7 Theme Chooser] Crispy Bread - LDPI goodness for Wildfire (RC4 - 20/3)

Wassup guys?!?
As you may know, the Wildfire has a low-res screen - with a relatively small number of pixels/inch (pixel density) - this is called low density or LDPI. However, CM7 currently uses MDPI resources - which are higher-res and are made for screens with higher pixel density.
So why should this bother you? Because these images are scaled down by the system to fit our screen - and they lose their sharpness and goodness as intended by Google, and the result is... yucky. Gradients get choppy and weird unintended colours pop up. And, the icons are small enough that due to our low pixel density, they use very few pixels and are washed out and ugly.
That's where this theme comes in. It turns out, AOSP has complete LDPI support for the main framework, so I ported those resources and resized/cropped/edited SystemUI resources to better fit our screen. Also, the icons are larger and easier/more pleasant to see on our low-res screen. Gradients are now how they were always meant to be - a smooth transition from one colour to another.
Download here.
Enjoy LDPI goodness. I doubt you won't like this if you're a fan of stock gingerbread.
What's themed
-Entire framework (dialogs, spinners, buttons, backgrounds, etc)
-Status bar icons and notification dropdown
-Settings icons
-Smooth indeterminate progress bars (stock is so choppy)
-Battery percentage / supercircle mod (separate versions)
To Install
Install apk file like normal from a file manager.
Open theme manager. Choose the one with the screenshot below for the preview, and hit Apply and then Apply anyway.
REBOOT REBOOT REBOOT to see all changes.
Changelog
1.0 RC4 [20/3] - Themed some missed out notification icons (music, gmail, email, calendar), themed music app, and music/news&weather widget backgrounds. Also some other stuff... can't remember
1.0 RC3u2 [19/3] - Crisped up the notification power widget icons.
1.0 RC3u1 [17/3] - Added themed keyboard
1.0 RC3 [17/3] - Added Cyanbread version, fixed clear notifications button, minor changes, themed phone call background. GMail show pictures button not working, got rid of ugly edges though. Coming up - themed keyboard.
1.0 RC2u2 [10/3] - fixed green progress bars (lol me)
1.0 RC2u1 [9/3] - minor update, fixed weird tabs. I think this theme is preeeety much done, unless someone finds another bug
1.0 RC2 [9/3] - fixed alarm icon, headset icon (why google, why have you made such a dumb one and given me extra work?), touched up the chat icon, fixed a couple bugs which i bet nobody noticed, added battery%/supercircle versions.
Files are now in my dropbox for easy uploading.
1.0 RC1 [8/3] - Initial release

Not only icons, I ported the ldpi framework from AOSP and I'm in the process of ldpi-izing SystemUI.
That means pretty much anything with a gradient looks waaaay better now.

Brainstorm thread. Monochrome+ ICS Theme

So I'm brainstorming what to do with a theme I am creating, it will have Leedroid tweaks, and mainly black and white theme and some accents, debating red, blue, green, purple maybe pink. Any visual suggestions, ideas, icon pack ideas are welcome. Check out my other work in suprarom2 and supramod to get an Idea

I think it would be really neat to have a B&W theme with either ICS blue highlights or red highlights.
Mostly everything would be B&W, and small things like the clock, some buttons, overscroll glow, etc. would be red or blue.
I would use it if it were a well done theme, which I expect from you.

Sir the simpler the better, I hate hate flamboyant icons for quick settings, this theme would be awesome with just minimalistic icons in the Grey and red/blue accents
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
i really like the color and layout of ICS. i am a fan of the baby blue colors in the status bar and such. as far as other "theming" i am a huge fan of the transitions found in virus' eternity ROMs... like in 1.4.2
i would keep the quick settings pretty simple if it were my decision, but hey man if you really wanna get in it, why not just make it completely stock and make theme flashables? or go with one theme and make a stock flashable and other theme to go along with it.

Disappointing Android theming capabilities

(I'm talking about stock ROMs.)
When people talk about Android customizability they say it's highly customizable and about making it unique...
But I don't see this. Of course you can replace your home screen / launcher software installing alternatives... And with them you are able to even customize icons, change the home screen experience a lot, etc, but go to a system or app menu and everything looks as before.
But there aren't any status bar / notification area replacements. And lock screen replacements never work as intended (I've tested a few that all they do is block the default one into coming into action, also when you receive a call it will display on the screen already unlocked and in some devices home button is able skip them), stock notification toggles customization is only available from latest LG Optimus UI and Samsung I guess...
The other main disappointment is the fixed color for menus. Apparently no matter what you do, Android holo with this blue "highlighter" is the only color available. No matter what HTC skin you pick, some menus and notifications will be highlighted in a holo blue or default green tone when you tap them. The keyboard suggestions are aways in the green variety, and these are the only two colors to see.
It's weird. My featurephone before EVO 3D was a Sony Ericsson w300i and the themes changed much more interface elements, there was even an official theme creator from Sony so you could make themes your own for this model and many others, it didn't require "root" or anything.
Do you feel the same about it?
You're clearly not looking into themes that well, I've been able to customize my phone in every aspect I can think of. Look into Metamorph, it's quite worth it.
Is this guy serious???

Well halo blue? I'm thinking we need to know a little bit more about you device before anything goes down.
Sent from my HTCEVOV4G using xda app-developers app
I'm referring to the Android's default dark holo theme which has blue accents when making menu selection, etc, and is the "default" next to the white holo theme.
My phone is the HTC EVO 3D.
What I'm saying is that theming only applies to an extent of the UI, leaving other elements un-skinnable, looking the default mixed with some colors or texture. It isn't a matter of launchers, what I mean is I can choose any HTC skin and the holo blue and some green elements won't go away... So, the HTC skin can make some elements pink for example but I'm stuck with some pre-defined colors like when tapping a notification some will glow green others pink, on some apps like Facebook and Twitter just for example the menus will be in the default Android colors (dark or white + blue accent applied to the command you're pressing), the stock keyboard will still highlight suggestions in green, etc, so this kind of experience isn't completely customizable... Some HTC skins simply won't fit because black will be ruling everything (the notifications area having the "title" in pink and the part you hold to "pull" skinned but the rest completely black, etc) instead of a nice background texture.
In a way I agree. There isn't much that appeals to me with the sense roms. There are some themes but not many and they really don't seem to change a whole lot. I've tried some cyanogenmod roms (paranoid android was my favorite) and I was very happy with all the themes and options I had, but the problem was that 3D didn't work, and that, into opinion is a perk of this device. I'm not too crazy for sense but I've decided to stay with the sense roms because everything works as it should normally. I do what I can using UCCW and other personalization apps. Hope you find something that works for you and you enjoy.

Just curious, are you using a sense ROM or cyanogenmod or other? Application icons are a piece of cake, there are icon packages or one can create in Photoshop, etc. But the notification icons I'm weary of messing with with a Sense based ROM. Thank you for your suggestion, by the way.

i wouldn't call it imposible. picture this: an app made by you running directly from android. you can select everything as you like and preview as you like. you can even select a custom background of your own (how cool is that), then, after you have selected everything, that app generates the zip, and you flash it.plus, it gets better, the app can have updates with new keyboard styles and everything. ofcorse this would require more programming, but you could eventually even add that app in the playstore and if it gets popular you can have it work for other devices as well.
edit: I would like to set a purple background that would have the purple color, yahoo's purple since I mainly use it for messaging. also a background lightblue skype color would be nice.
edit2: btw I think there's an error on the Auto-Correct selection, the first two options have identical description.
edit3: for anyone that would like a custom wallpaper to the keyboard, I presume you can do that, entering the zip file and photoshoping files found in this folder with the ones you like. TNi605AnyDPISamsungIMEAroma.zip\kbbg\redbullbg\res\

you're right, no typo. concerning the colors, no need for extra options for me, I will install photoshop and modify that redbull theme to my liking. again, great job. thanks. but concerning the users that don't want to spend time into photoshop, here's a thing you can do, see if you can do another kind of installer, one that has best combinations, so that no mater what combination of colors you choose, you're always ending with an awesome result. I ended up with really weird results for example when selecting purple twice.
edit: something's missing from the keyboard. I flashed the s4white keyboard before flashing this one and I think this is the reason why transparency doesn't work for the background. when I select the totally transparent background, the result is a black one. even though i checked, the files contained in the transparent nebula theme are indeed transparent. how can I fix this?
edit2: wait, actually it is transparent, just that there are certain apps that place a black background beneath the keyboard

Lol the best combinations. . Everyone likes different things and if, for instance, I put purple background, black text and black keys and someone chooses those options it won't look good.. but if they choose what I laid out for a request.. The purple/silver theme.. it should look pretty good
Yea the background with transparency all relates to certain apps.. so apps that call theme.holo will be transparent but if they call theme.holo.light or an app has a certain custom color it will call those.. There is no way, I think, I would be able to fix this unless you modify all the apps and that is not going to happen:thumbup:

It's possible to make themes for the Sony theme engine (check out the Z section), but it's not possible to change major UI elements, like the background of Settings, BUT I might be wrong.
